Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

First numbers in look good for Obama - MSNBC is calling Georgia for Barack. Suddenly they're talking about major gains for the Obama campaign tonight. Somehow I think they're being premature.
Early today, Mike Huckabee scooped up West Virginia's eighteen delegates. It won't be enough to garner him the nomination but he might still be in the mix for the VP slot.
Nine states are closing their polls right now and there are some more projected wins.
Obama's scooped up Illinois - no surprise there.
Clinton has picked up Oklahoma.
So Obama 2 Clinton 1 so far tonight.
On the Republican side, McCain has won in Connecticut, Illinois and New Jersey.
Romney has won his home state of Massachusetts.
So, McCain 3, Romney 1, Huckabee 1.
Hillary Clinton has picked up Tennessee, so it's 2-2 now.
Hey, Gator B. . . Cal and I are hear watching MSNBC . . . The whole notion of "winning" a state is a little silly with proportional representation on the Dem side . . . Gosh, I'm hoping and praying for Obama to take Cali!
Gator . . . I'll check in after I get the kids to bed
Hey Trev, it could well happen in Cali. He's got tremendous momentum. Somehow though, my cynical heart still thinks that Clinton will win the nomination in the end.
Clinton has won Arkansas - no surprise.
The right wingers on the MSNBC panel are working themselves into a lather about McCain, who they're rightly noting is picking up a bunch of Democratic states - CT, NJ, IL - but has no standing in the Republican world. Huckabee was won both West Virginia and Arkansas.
Hillary Clinton with the win in Massachusetts defying the home town boys Kennedy and Kerry.
Meanwhile Barack Obama has won Deleware.
Huckabee has won another Southern state - Alabama, so he's officially the redneck backwater candidate.
Looks like Obama is going to win the majority of the popular vote in ND . . . hell, that took too long . . Obama to win ND
And Obama in Utah - what the hell? Are there any Dems in Utah? I reckon its one liberal club with ten members at Utah State.
I still can't figure out the delegate count here - it's a total mess.
Hillary seems to have won more primaries but I think the delegate count is fairly even. Obviously a California win for either will put them over the top for tonight but I don't think there will be a knock off blow tonight.
Here comes Romney on the stage in Mass. I'm digging those "mitt-shaped" signs his supporters are holding up. They're almost as corny as the man himself.
Romney just lost the grammar nerd vote: "He's older than me." That would be "older than I am," Mitt! Jeez!
Mitt's feeling special that Mass., Michigan and Utah have all voted for him. Isn't that a bit like feeling good that your mom loves you?
If Elizabeth Kucinich won the FLILF vote, then Mike Huckabee's wife wins the Ugliest Potential First Lady vote. I know the man's an authentic conservative, but damn, she looks like Jack Palance with a wig on!
Nice one, Gator . . .
Cheers!

I don't get it but there it is.
Here comes Hillary Clinton and I could swear that her supporters are chanting "Billary, Billary!"
Well at least they aren't chanting "Who are you? Who are you? Who are you?"
I'm off to bed, Bob . . .Gotta take Maggie to school . . . 6:46 am start to the day . . . ugh! . . . Thanks for the delegate count . . . Obama's keeping it close!
There's something really silly sounding about the term "green collar job." Either we're talking scout uniform or someone's in dire need of bleach.
Cheerio, Trev. Look forward to our next political chat. Give Maggie a hug for me. I'm off to Maine in the a.m. Wish me luck!

McCain seems to be pulling away but he hasn't finished the deal quite yet.
On the Democratic side, it's tighter than a tick. Can we have two brokered conventions....please....

The Obama camp is apparently claiming a lead in the delegate but that's not the picture coming from the networks, where he's still fifty delegates down.

The California numbers are starting to trickle in - with 7% reporting:
Hillary Clinton 375,581 55%
Barack Obama 224,732 33%
McCain's speaking now; he should really get up on stage before midnight. The guy just can't perform at 10 p.m. He should be tucked in with some Ovaltine by then.
And now for Obama....
A good deal perkier than McCain.
Clinton still 20% up in Cali with 10% counted. If that holds up, you'd have to say that the Kennedy endorsements didn't do anything for Obama.
Missouri is basically a 49-49 split with John Edwards picking up the leftovers. So even Steven on the delegates there.

Barack Obama 315,879 32%
MSNBC is calling it early for Clinton in California at 12:15. It's the big win that they were hoping for. Of course the delegates will still be close.
That California win has got to be a big relief for the Clinton camp but they'll be worried about the next week, where Obama has leads in Washington, Virginia, Hawaii, Lousiana and Wisconsin. He might win six of seven primaries in the next week. This thing is going to run for a while.
