Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Marvelous! Thanks so much for setting up this thread. Excellent image. It's coming home, indeed.

I'm with you. I don't think I'm going to want to blog as usual during the match, but I may add a few comments here and there, hopefully when we score!

Come on, England!!!

According to my English Facebook friends, the whole country is absorbed in this match. I'm hearing about council buildings draped in England flags, people coming home on buses singing "Three Lions," pubs filing up with fans.

Good half. pretty much as expected. Croatia with the possession, but not dangerous up front. Sterling's speed is the biggest difference between the two squads. I thought that somewhere down the line it would be a header goal off a free kick after a foul on Sterling. Instead, it was a direct kick after a foul on Alli.

Man, Lovren is such a thug. He brings me back to the days when I was playing in Germany and these hyper-violent Croatians we were frequently facing.

Subasic does not convince me.

I think his hamstring is worse than he lets on. He was very non-active on the goal, and tentative on the situation when Kane hit the post.

I predict 3-0. If Croatia can't score, they will start to press more, and I see some bad fouls/corners given up when defending against break aways, one leading to a goal. The third goal will be a straight counter goal like Korea vs. Germany.

Otherwise, the 2nd most likely outcome for me is 1-1, but I just don't see much threat from Croatia.

Sure, England is flailing a bit since they are not as adept at making the game, but I believe they are more fit, and I think they will make less mistakes.

Rakitic, Perisic, and Versaljko look gassed to me.
