Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Rooney Scan Today!

Spare a thought for young Mr. Potato Head today as he undergoes a scan that will decide whether he plays a role in England's World Cup plans. My feeling has always been that with Rooney England can win the tournament; without him, they'll be knocked out in the quarterfinals. My hope is that Sven announces today that Rooney will play no role in the group stage but will be ready for the Round of Sixteen when we need him.

Your thoughts?

Furg is pissed off that this is even a possibility that Rooney would play and he's fired the doctor that was overseeing Rooney's recovery because he was seen to be too optimistic. Add that the scan is going to be held behind closed doors, I'd be really surprised if Rooney plays any part at all.

I think there's a better than even chance that he'll be withdrawn from the squad.

It's not going to be good news. The Old Trafford Kremlin has decided that their star attraction is not going. You heard it here.

Sven will definitely call up Scott Carson tomorrow. Don't be surprised if he calls up Jermaine Defoe too.

Amazingly, the news out of SkySports is realistic but positive. Rooney will apparently have another scan on June 14th and is likely to return to the fold for the quarterfinals. Yoo hoo! Now Sven and the boys know exactly what they need to do. The keys are running up scores against T&T and Paraguay. Then a draw against Sweden will be good enough - and we all know that England can get at least a draw out of the Swedes.
