Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

World Cup Preview - Group H - Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia:

Coach: Marcos Paqueta.

Game Schedule:
June 14 – Saudi Arabia vs. Tunisia (12 p.m. EST)
June 19 – Saudi Arabia vs. Ukraine (12 p.m.)
June 23 – Saudi Arabia vs. Spain (10 a.m.)

Prospects: Saudi Arabia qualified top of their Asian confederation qualifying group, ahead of fellow qualifier South Korea. Impressive, until one starts to look at their record at the tournament. The Saudis have qualified for the past four World Cup finals and have yet to do anything positive in them. Honestly, I’m a bit sick of the sight of teams like the Saudis. I’d much prefer to see the Peter Wythe Thai team in there, or even China again.

Big Media Story: Will women be allowed to watch the games this time; yes, Saudi society is still that backward.

Who Will Get the Cards: Goalkeeper Mohammad al Deayea – one of the floppiest of floppy keepers in the tournament. He’s always good for a lunging tackle at the feet of a nippy forward.

Prediction: Once again, they’ll be giving the better sides shooting practice. Out in the first round.

That's it for the previews - now, let the games begin!
