Six changes for Arsene tonight. Fabianski, as alluded to earlier, is in for the injured Almunia, while Kieran Gibbs replaces Gael Clichy at left-back, and Jack Wilshere, Tomas Rosicky and Denilson all come into midfield.
Kick-off time - come on the lads!
Some hijinks in Belgrade as the game is delayed by some faulty floodlights.
First goal in the Championship goes to relegation form Leicester at Carrow Road. 0-1 the Foxes.
Coventry lead 1-0 at home to Doncaster.
Good start by Marseille, who now have a free-kick on the left 40 yards out.
Our goalscorer on Saturday Bradley Johnson has hit a screamer just over the bar.
GOAL! The skipper John Terry knocks in Chelski's first goal from a corner, just a delicate flick from the big man.
1-0 Blues!
BUGGGERRRR! Preston have taken the lead early doors. Come on!
The Blades have taken the lead at Forest.
QPR about to kick off against Millwall - they're top of the table now.

YESSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!
Becchio scores our equalizer!
1-1!
That's Luciano's fourth goal of the season, with apparently a really good, powerful header. He's really stepped up as the lead goalscorer this season.
That's us back up to 7th.
Everything looking pretty hunkydory at the moment, I'd say.
The Arshavin goal sounds like a real peach. Here's how the Guardian describe it:
"Arshavin took a pass from Song just inside the Partizan half and surged forwards before slipping a short pass to Wilshere. He then carried it on into the area before backheeling it back to Arshavin, whose low drive beat Stojkovic comfortably enough."
Alexandre Frei has scored for Basle against Real Madrid. Lovely jubbly!
Sorry, that's Basle up over Bayern Munich.
Lots of drama at Pride Park. First Boro take the lead. Then from the kick-off, Derby get a penalty, which they've squandered. 0-1 Boro!
Ajax have taken the lead against AC Milan. Lovely jubbly!
YESSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!
A defensive howler by PNE leaves our Ipswich loan boy Alex Bruce to nod into an empty net.
Leeds 2 PNE 1!
That goal has us up into (gulp!) third spot. I'm nervous!
Burnley are now 2-0 up!
Chelski have a penalty! Essien was storming into the area and the ball popped up onto a defender's arm. A bit harsh?
Nic Anelka to step up.....
2-0 Chelski!
It's all Arsenal now, according to Charlie Nicholas. Two good chances recently. Now a free kick for the Gunners.
Half an hour gone and everything's going swimmingly from my perspective.
YESSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!
3-1 Leeds!
Davide Somma latching onto a Lloyd Sam cross. You beauty!
Swansea now 0-2 up over Watford!
Malouda might have just got a penalty for Chelski.
Partizan have got a penalty! Sounds like a handball in the area.
Taken and scored! 1-1
AC Milan have equalized at the Amsterdam Arena.
YESSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!
4-1 Leeds!
Somma with his second of the match and sixth of the season!
Hey Bob, I am here
It is now 4-2! Still a good half.
I am actually here for the games. The boys have a game in Saratoga so there is no time to travel there and back. So, I miss the whole match!
Bugger! PNE have got one back right at the death of the half. Knock it off!
I have a Justin link for SS but it keeps getting interrupted by commercials!
Heya, Dave! Good to have you on board. It has been a good half for our teams so far.
Btw, I gave Joel a call on that number that you gave me and left a message that he should drop off the Thruway at Exit 59 for a beer and some wings. I'd love to see him.
Glad you called
Leeds one of only four teams winning at half
Did you see Rooney is out for three weeks with an ankle injury? He is out of the next qualifier
Just as well - Rooney's been pants! He needs his head examined.
Yeah - if Cardiff were to lose today, we would be in second! Do I dare to dream?
told you
Told me what?
Leeds going up
We're really benefiting from the other results in the Championship now. Only Swansea and Burnley are in the lead.

Calamity losing to his old club

I cannot believe that the guy who played in goal for England for most of the World Cup is now at Bristol City.
They've just equalized.
Norwich take the lead against Leicester, Did you see that Martin O'Neil could go to the Walkers
Pompey tied up
Penalty to the Arse!
And a red card for Partizan!

FOUR FOUR!!
Penalty to PNE! 4-4! I am disgusted.
We've pressed the self-destruct button. Time to get a fifth!
Norwich now 3-1 up!
Not for Preston!
And we're back down to 7th again. Grrr.
Chelski have the ball in the net after a rocket free kick from Alex. But it's called offside.
Big Nose is not happy. He's watching a real stinker at Auxerre.
Carrow Road is trying to match Elland Road... 3-2
Leicester have pegged one back at Carrow Road. 3-2.
Is the Championship a better league than the Champions League? Thommo thinks so.
Ok... it's Leeds Time!
Thank you, mate!
BLOODY HELL... LEEDS 4 PRESTON 5
Philippe Mexes has scored for Roma against Cluj.
I am gutted!
Arsenal take the lead!
Down to eighth. How do we throw away a 4-1 lead at home?
Gillette Soccer Special has caught up with you. Charlie is yelling about Chamakh scoring for the Arse. 1-2!
Still time!
This is the only time I can remember an ex-pro commentating on his club's match. They usually don't do that.
From the Beeb
2112: Very rarely am I jealous while covering Champions League football, but if there are any neutrals in the crowd at Elland Road tonight they must be having an absolute ball.
Forest have equalized against the Blades. Lovely jubbly!
Roma score two quick goals against Cluj
Marco Borriello has scored a second for Roma.

4-3 at Norwich.. how boring compared to Leeds!
Fryatt, who scored the third Leicester goal, has been sent off!
Arsenal extend their lead!
Schillaci has got his first goal for the Arse. They're 3-1 up.
The bloke reporting from Brighton sounds like he's under water!
Partizan miss a penalty!
Goal at Elland Road... BLOODY HELL!!!
4-6! Gutted!
We need three goals in the last ten minutes! Come on!
QPR still scoreless at home against Millwall

I'm off home to soak my head now. What a mad match!
Catch up with you tomorrow, eh?
Watford score in the fifth minute of extra time to tie it up with Swansea BUT it is disallowed
I am off to work too
Take care
UWS
Anybody about for this Wednesday Matchday 2 malarky?
Pretty happy about the Partizan result because, 1-We won, 2-Won away in the CL which we hadn't managed in 6 attempts, 3-Fabianski played well which can only bode well until we get serious at that position, hand him his passport and tell him to "do one, already."
In other news, did anyone else spot that the Partizan keeper was wearing the squad number 88? The significance of which is that NeoNazis often sport that number because H is the 8th letter of the alphabet, and 88's Nazi code for Heil Hitler. Really, not making that up.
Buffon got caught up wearing that number and had to back down. He's an idiot. But in Serbia, where NeoNazi warlords are a recent memory, that crap is out-of-order and that punchy Nazi git should be banned as a punishment.
Nothing to report with 20 minutes or so played apart from this....
Barca held 1-1 in Kazan!!! Mes un Club? Mess of a Club hopefully.
In Israel, Lyon have gone 1-0 up over Happy Tel Aviv. Bastos with a pen.
Inter 1-0 up over Bremen. Boo.
Heya, Gooner!
I'm just checking in during the break in my class. Thanks for keeping the LOB home fires burning. UWS usually gets home from school round about this time so he should be joining us shortly.
Naismith puts one in the correct goal for Rangers in Turkey.
I am here after 31 minutes. Still scoreless. I don't even know their line up!
Inter now 2-0 up - a brace from Samuel Eto'o.
Hi there, Davey!
Nani with a hopeless backheal!
Make it simple!
Hiya Bob. Nothing happening in Valencia, so Davy's missed nothing but won't be best pleased that he hasn't.
United's line-up:
Edwin van der Sar, Rafael, Rio Ferdinand,, Nemanja Vidic, , Patrice Evra, Darren Fletcher, Michael Carrick, Anderson; Nani, Dimitar Berbatov, Park ji-Sung.
Pana 0 Copenhagen 1
Hiya Davy. Early days in Valencia. Lots to play for.
Rangers are winning so United are now in third
Sounds like nothing has been created in Valencia
Afternoon Steve
Stupid foul by Berba
INter are two up
Inter 3 up
Lyon 2 up in Tel Aviv
2024: PENALTY to Tottenham
2025: MISSED PENALTY Tottenham's Rafael van der Vaart
Half time
Martin Tyler isn't impressed with what is going on at the Mestalla
Copenhagen double their lead in Greece
Rangers winning at half
HALF-TIME Tottenham 0-0 FC Twente
Mandeep Sanghera's half-time snapshot: "Plenty of action at White Hart Lane. Keeper Heurelho Gomes the hero and Rafael van der Vaart the villain for Spurs going into half-time against a FC Twente side causing them plenty of problems."
alexedwards07 on Twitter: "The United midfield are giving the ball away every time they get it. Without the guile of Scholes in there, too, it's poor."
Sorry Davy. I dip out and back in and nothing has changed for you.
Bob told me about Joel. Crazy stuff.
That Michel Bastos at Lyon? Might have to revise my opinion of him. When Arsenal was linked with him, I kinda thought we might get a Robinho-nutcase type and was relieved when it didn't pan out. Bit of a fox in the box now.
Ready to get going in the second half in Spain
A game and half in the Champions League and we still haven't scored! Of course, we haven't conceded any either.... what a difference from the League! We can't stop score or conceding
Did Joel get back in touch with Bob?
I don't like the way United play away from home in the CL... it is not the United way
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson speaking at half-time: "We have to use the ball better when we get it, and play with more intensity. If they press as they are, they will get tired so we have to keep it going. Hopefully we'll be OK."
The deadlock is broken at White Hart Lane
Van der Vaart scores for Spurs!
Agreed. But United never have the same style in the EPL as they do in the CL. If I were SAF, I'd look to do anything to support Dracula who is on fiery form for you.
Purchases in the winter transfer window to beef up in the mid would help too.
And a recall from loan for Cleverboy. You'd love to see that guy playing for you the way Wilshere is playing for us, wouldn't you.
I am not happy... this is NOT the United I love!
Tottenham goal: How do you make up for missing a penalty? Like this, that's how. Tom Huddlestone's deep cross is headed down by Peter Crouch and Rafael van der Vaart controls the ball on his chest before slamming in a powerful shot. Spurs have the lead, just seconds after the restart.
United have their first corner of the match... Valencia have only had two.... played short and then a hopeless cross by Bob's mate Nani!
Penalty to Spurs.... Pavla nets it... Two nil!
Come on United... it's your turn!
VDV is a good pick-up for Harry. Shame we couldn't have met his wage demands last year. I fancy him over the erratic Diaby for a start. No other complaints in that area of the pitch though.
You think Diaby might be a bit thick? I'm leaning that way. Talented, but thick as a plank.
I wish Cleverley never went on loan! Can you bring him back early?
Berbatov has United's first shot on target... well made by himself... saved.. United have their SECOND corner!
Nani actually beats the first man with his corner but the keeper is fouled
Why couldn't we have gotten a lucky goal off Roon's bum against Rangers in the last round!
Ex Gunner getting himself in trouble
2055: RED CARD Gilberto Silva of Panathinaikos
Carrick with a speculative shot..hopeless
FC Twente get a goal back
Are they going to blow a two goal lead again?
United's midfield could always keep possession but not this one!
Yes please. I would laugh.
Just a couple of second of Tom here... he should have done better!!
http://saratoga-north.ynn.com/content/sports/519042/boys-soccer--saratoga-springs-vs--burnt-hills/
Valencia go close but the chance disappears!
That's why I say beefing up a bit would be good. Or, giving the opposition a lot of things to work at instead. Right now, neither. And Cleverboy, he'd be a help IMHO. I wouldn't think you could get him back before the winter break if at all this season. That he's under-21 and English is a help however.
United get the ball over but it is cleared...NO ONE at the top of the box to take a crack!
Anderson is playing the furthest up front some times.... he has scored ONE goal for United!
News from WHL
2105: RED CARD Tottenham's Rafael van der Vaart
oh dear
Rafael van der Vaart jumps into Roberto Rosales - needlessly and recklessly as they challenge for a high ball. That's a second yellow card for the Dutchman.
At least it wasn't a straight red
MORE NEWS FROM THE LANE
2106: PENALTY to Tottenham
Pavla scores his second pen of the night!
THREE penalties for Spurs tonight... what's the record?
Palace and Brighton had five pens in one match. Four for Palace... they missed three!
