Bielsa Signs a Contract for Another Year!
In the best news I've heard all week, El Supremo Marcelo Bielsa has reportedly signed a contract to be at the helm at Elland Road for another season. I'm particularly relieved as I had heard that West Ham were sniffer around the gaffer, hoping to lure him away to the Capital. With Bielsa on his blue bucket and the promise of more spending on quality players next season, we might well have a chance at making a run for promotion next season. #MOT!

I'm inclined to believe this is good news. I wasn't impressed that he oversaw a slump in form that allowed the team to be dumped into the playoffs. I expect better from a cold-hearted, steely eyed Argentinian. Next thing you know, the Germans will lose a match on penalties and my whole worldview will need a change. But some continuity in the hot seat at the El is welcome and if he can keep those evil Spuds from poaching Jack Clarke, well, you can look forward to next season, Bob.
I remember the Guardian pod mob, who are more familiar with his club record than I am, discussing a certain "burn out" factor among Bielsa sides at the end of a season as the result of his punishing training schedule. When I look back on our season, it strikes me that we were a very thin squad punching well above our weight. There were many of our rivals who had sides full of players with Premiership experience. Our squad only had Pablo Hernandez who went down with Swansea a few seasons ago. I have to believe that it was Bielsa 's guile that allowed us to persist toward the top for so long, while the likes of Stoke, QPR and Swansea languished in mid-table. In the end, though, the profusion of injuries and suspensions was just too much for us to overcome. There's always next season though, eh?
Good luck with Chelsea tomorrow!
Congratulations and the right decision if I may say so. To be honest, I think this Leeds squad is a season away from being ready from the premier League. The way to measure Bielsa's success is to see where were Leeds when he took over and where are they now. There was a tremendous amount of improvement and the best season in years despite the late slump. I am inclined to agree with Bob that Bielsa showed his true quality with basically the same squad that had been mud take the last few seasons. They punched well above their weight and if Bielsa is allowed to add quality players then Leeds should be one off the favorites for promotion next season. The lack of depth and injuries will strengthen Bielsa's case to rebuild the side.
