Saturday is Back!
Who among us hasn't missed our Saturday morning routines? Well, Saturday is back! I'm up with the chickens as usual, with a cuppa by my side and the hopes of a new season in my head. We've got two intriguing fixtures to start our day, with Premier League champs Man City starting their title defense at St James Park. A lot of us have favored for Man City for the title again and Newcastle for the drop. At the same time, my beloved Leeds have their home opener against Nottingham Forest. We got off to a flyer at Ashton Gate last weekend. I'm hoping for more of the same today at Elland Road.
If that isn't enough of the good stuff, there is a full schedule of footer after that. Tune in with me for a good Saturday morning banter, eh?

Morning, boys, in contrast to our opening match, Forest fluffed their lines last weekend with a 1-2 home loss to promotion favorites WBA. I'm hoping we can hand Sabri Lamouchi his second loss of the season.
The gaffer is going with the same starting XI that he used on Sunday. The team news:
Leeds United: Casilla, Douglas, Cooper, White, Dallas, Phillips, Klich, Forshaw, Harrison, Hernandez, Bamford
Subs: Meslier, Berardi, Alioski, Shackleton, Bogusz, Costa, Clarke
Nottingham Forest: Muric, Cash, Worrall, Dawson, Robinson, Semedo, Watson, Lolley, Silva, Adomah, Grabban
Subs: Samba, Ribeiro, Figueiredo, Mir, Jenkinson, Ameobi, Sow
Morning Bob
I am up early of the first full day of English football. Mainly for your lot!
MOT
And it's starting!
NBC are promoting the ManYoo v. Chelsea clash on Sunday as the debut of Christian Pulisic in the Prem. But what if he doesn't feature? Has anyone told Frankie Lamps?
Wahay! The coverage on the Plus has started!
Morning, UWS - thanks for getting up early for my lot. Let's hope we entertain you.
A real sense of expectation in the hallowed Elland Road ground today.
Teams coming out now.
Here come the teams to a packed Ellland Road
Im Forever Blowing Bubbles sung out loud as we kick off the Prem on Sat
Wonder if Hammer fans will complain... home kit... not white shorts!
Sound familiar?
Are you able to watch both matches?
Good Morning, Bob and Dave. Up for the matches. Haven't kicked off from ER yet
Forest get us underway - come on, you Whites!
City already passing it around in the back very cockily... I just want it to backfire
Morning, MUR - thanks for joining us so early for you.
Nervous clearance from the Forest keeper Muric who had a couple of clangers last weekend. He's a young un on loan from Citeh.
Patrick just a shoulder offside there. Hoping he can bag another today.
West Ham a creating some chances
Well, City are creating chances for West Ham
VAR takes a quick check.. nothing given
Liam Cooper trips up Lolley and Forest have an early free kick chance.
It's lobbed into Kiko's arms - lovely.
Good morning Bob and Dave. Up for both of the matches
Forshaw goes down under a challenge but nothing is given!
Decent save by Flappy from Mahrez
Looked like a tug back to me but the dive was a bit much.
An early penalty chance would have really settled the nerves in this home opener. Shame.
I'm happy to see that we're playing good football right from the start.
Morning MUR
The Core Three up bright and early
Kai with a nice looping drive that Muric tips around for a first corner for us. Come on!
Oh - Muric went walkabout there and Cooper should have scored!
I miss the days of a dug out... nowadays it looks like first class on British Airways
Back with a hot cuppa
LOL! Looks better seeding them with any American airplane company.
Bad pass by Dallas
Pass it to where he is going, not where he is
Forest keeper on loan from Citeh. Replaced by Zack Steffen
Wasted Citeh free kick to the Delight of the Hammers fans, but not to pep.
Oh - nice build up though Pablo but he just couldn't find Patrick in the middle. Promising stuff here.
Two lovely balls from Cooper in two successive moves. It's clear that Bielsa's been working with him on that. Corner.
Last-ditch Forest defending. Nice long diagonal play to the right. Great piece of skill in a last-ditch clearance. Bob was out of his seat cheering cheering for a goal.
We're bossing this match so far but just need a goal.
Oh!. Nice through Ball by KDB. Then Mahrez with just Flappy to beat. Shot in the side netting. Should have been the lead. Uws would have buried that
Oh - Barry Douglas was in there but Samedo lunged in with a vital tackle in the end. Corner.
Nice solo run. Last-ditch tackle for a Leeds corner.
Another Leeds corner.
Then another.then another.
We're building up the corner count. Got to make it count!
Oh - this time Cooper nearly scored with a header! Just wide!
An City have opened their account.
Nice finish at the front post by Jesus
GOAL! Citeh take the lead. Nice running pass by Kyle Walker and scored by Jesus.
Pablo was put away on the right but he overran it. Shame.
Shame. I was hoping that Citeh might struggle today. Ah well.
Leads completely dominating. Bob pleased with the performance, but looking for a goal from Leeds
Bob will be Grabbing Grabban's beard and shaving It Off. BOOM BOOM
Silva hits one over the bar but he should have left it for Sterling
Bamford runs in the box... I think he took too many touches. Should have it it right away... I would have
Oh - Bamford was away there. He might have taken one too many touches.
Is there any news of the injury to Alison?
Not at all keen on Grabban's beard. Very unkempt.
No response from Bob, so he must love those footlong beardies.
I haven't seen any yet.
Was Bob ever grow one.?
It was sitting up perfectly for a whack to the back post
Oh I miss the days when I could actully have pulled that off
Half way through the first half. We've played well so far but I'd like to see a goal or two by half time.
Kal Phillips with a nasty one. Fortunately it's only a yellow card offense.
Bob has been a beardy
I've never had any facial hair but I have a 5 o'clock shadow at 9 o'clock in the morning
Kal Phillips booked for for preventing a forest break. His requisite yellow.
Nah - I like to keep things tidy and professional.
How about a retirement beard, UWS?
Nice one,Dave. I've only shaved twice a week since I retired
Would be a nice New Look for Dave, LOL!
Next year Dave will be too cool for school.
Lovely Leeds weather!
The rain is fairly pelting down now at Elland Road.
A rare occurrence. Raining in West Yorkshire.
Leeds signed a Arsenal youngster from the Arsenal?
Very sought after player... Hope he comes good
Just a reminder to Bob and Dave that leads will be on plus Tuesday afternoon.
I will have my Don Johnson beard going...not for style but laziness!
I will probably sub at my local school too so I will be cleanly shaven
Correct, Dave. Eddie Nketiah. Had an excellent pre-season and I thought a possible starter for the gunners oh, so that's a great loan signing for Leeds.
I had thought about subbing, but I'm taking the year off. I may start the same time as you.
Leeds were also looking at Liverpool youngster, Ryan Kent. He's supposed to be a potential starter for Liverpool in a couple of years.
Thanks for the reminder, mate. I'll be watching for sure.
Nketiah should be an excellent loan signing for us this season.
Not sure that bucket boy can say much at the half other than putting away chances. Otherwise, more of the same
You're welcome. Well join you oh, but you will not be pleased that I will be going for the class of 92. Just a reminder that former United players on 50% of Salford.
First corner for Forest now.
A rare Forest corner. Their first of the match.
Bob will be pleased that it was a complete waste.
A minute of stoppage-time at the London Stadium.
I agree - we just have to keep playing our football and hope that the goals will come.
Gentlemen... Tom, Matt and I had a little discussion yesterday
It was decided that we split it three ways and got NBC Season Pass!
Can't wait to watch Soccer Saturday at 3 o'clock!
It does not look like there are any restrictions for the amount of devices. Tom and I were both logged in last night
So both of you know my email address and I will text you my password.
Let's hope we can all use it without any problems
Citeh one up at the half.
Wasted free kick from Kal, sadly.
Half time in the Prem
1 nil to Citeh
Cheers, Dave. Greatly appreciated.
Fantastic! Thanks, mate!
PW just sent
Nice password!
Hope we can all use it at once
There has never been a problem with Plus
Let's hope five of us can be on at once
A minute of stoppage time at er.
Absolutely, Dave.
Half time at ER as well
Leeds deserve to be up!
That's half time then. A bit disappointing in the end. We've bossed the match but haven't finished our chances.
Its 0-0 at the half at Er despite total Leeds dominance.
So it looks like the plan shows all the matches that are not on TV because the games on TV are available already on NBCSN website
Goal rush is available... one main match but going to other matches for goals
I will definitely have Soccer Saturday on
Are either of you on?
Not yet . Just finished brekkies and trying to solve a technical problem with a computer
Second half underway from the London stadium
Still halftime at ER
Second half underway from ER
We're back on at Elland Road. Forest weren't really in this one. We need to finish the job. We'll be attacking the Kop End this half so let's give the punters some goals to cheer.
Come on, you Whites!
No changes to either side at the interval.
GOAL!!!! CITEH TWO UP. STERLING SCORES WITH JUST FLAPPY TO BEAT . NICE RUN AND THROUGH BALL FROM KDB.
Patrick found himself in a good position but offside.
COME ON LEEDS!MOT! All Leeds need to do is put away some of those chances
Don't errands and miss two goals by Citeh!
GOAL !!!CITEH THREE UP WITYH A SECOND FROM JESUS AND STERLING WITH THE ASSIST AS HE GOT BEHIND THE HAMMERS DEFNSE AND PUIT IN A PASS FOR AN EASY TAP IN.
var checking for presumably offside
NO... the goal has been VARed.... that is ridiculous!
GOAL DISALLOWED . OFFSIDE BY AN ARMPIT. STILL 0-2
Leeds hit the bar!
Oh - how did Patrick not score there? Off the bar!
I thought it was a perfectly good goal
These fine lines are so stupid
Oh - now he's just wide of the mark!
Bamford misses another chances!
Open goal to lob the keeper.. hits it wide
Nice long ball fro, Kat Phillips caught out the LForest defense and Bamford chipped the keeper, but was wioe. Should have been a Leeds lead
The top of the shoulder was offside... SO WHAT?
There was no unfair advantage...I do hate it
It's Leeds time
I do hate VAR
No team can celebrate a goal until they see if someone's tongue was in an offside position
West Ham go so close to getting back into it
Header loops just over the bar
The Dean of refs books Valbuena for a nasty foul on Jesus.
Bob and I have our logos and David doesn't
Wasn't exactly the opposite before?
YES!!!!!
PABLO!!
YES!!!!!!!
Pablo, you beauty!!!!!!
Cue Floodgates Open
WWAY HAY! A DESERVED LEEDS LEAD AS PABLO HERNANDEZ SCORES WITH A GREAT FINISH . NICE PASS TO HERNANDEZ
Weird how the system does that sometimes.
You know what, if VAR was in the Championship.. that would have been called back
I think Bamford was offside when the ball came to him before he laid it back
Patrick again - on the turn. He really is hungry for a goal.
I was blogging on my phone the first half and now own the IMAC
Bamford misses a lot of chances
He needs to be more deadly
Schtum!
Still logoless
I agree, mate. His strike rate is good but he needs loads of chances.
Chicha on for Anderson. Overall, that's a loss for the Hammers
He should have had a hat-trick
Congrats, Bob. Delighted and a deserved lead.
MOT!
I want more goals now. Open up the floodgates.
Sammy Ameobi coming on for Adomah now for Forest.
Wow, Forest haven't lost first two games of a season since 1971-72
I'll take one for Patrick.
Like for like as Aguero is on for Jesus. That shows the depth Citeh have
Harrison feeling his groin after that stretch. I'd have him off for Jack Clarke right about now.
WOW! That's quite a stat, Dave
Forest got relegated from the First Division that year along with Huddersfield
Phew! That was a chance for Forest!
That Forest attempt looked closer than it actually was
A Leeds shot Kliched out for a corner
oooh, Hammers have two chances... saved...bugger
Forest playing it about for fun now - knock it off!
OH!!!! Nice double save from Ederson. The closest the Hammers have come to scoring
Sorry, I am not a fan of Bamford!
He's not good enough as a main striker
Forshaw is hacked and Sow picks up a yellow. We can swing one in to the big boys here.
Sow booked for Forest for a rash challenge;
He's got a good strike rate in the Championship for several sides. But I agree that he's not Premier League quality.
City score a third
Sterling lobs the keeper
VAR checking...He's going to be off again!!
Gianni Alioski being prepared to come on for Harrison.
West Ham could be in trouble this season.
Who knows
It looked offside when it was first shown
Then the lines screwed it up
The lines didn't look straight
Three nil
VAR to check as Sterling chips Flappy to score off a nice through ball. I thought he looked level.
GOAL! IT COUNTS . CITEH THREE UP AS STERLING HAS A PAIR OF GOALS
Phew! Dawson nods over.
Michael Dawson heads over from a Forest corner.
I think the Hammers should be safe. Citeh will do this to lots of teams
Now it's Jamie Shackleton being prepared.
The pundits are saying that West Ham will be successful this year and be up there with Everton
Everton have really spent big and often this summer
Phil Foden and Gundogan on for KDB and Silva
Come on Leeds....get another one... sharpish
I'm thinking another mid table finish for the Hammers
Cheers, mate - we need it!
Forest with a corner
They worry me with your Aussie Wannabe in goal
Bloody hell...what a scrappy goal!!
Bugger! Grabban has scored. I was worried about that.
GET A NEW KEEPER
BUGGER! FOREST HAVE JUST GRABBAN AN EQUALIZER. SCRAPPY GOAL OFF A CORNER..now 1-1
Come on Leeds... go win it again
Come on, lads - let's get it back!
Penalty to City
Sorry Bob. First goal of the season conceded by Leeds and to a beardy to add insult to injury
Stonewall... what a stupid challenge
Now it's Forshaw into the book. Not good.
Aguero to take and not Sterling for a hat-trick
He wanted to take it
Adam Forshaw booked for a reckless challenge.
Helder Costa to the rescue now - come on!
Saved!
Sterling still looks miffed
Why oh why do teams take their feet off the pedal when they're winning. I don't get it!
WOW! Flappy saves the penalty from Aguero ro keep it respectable. VAR being consulted
