Saturday is Premier League Day!
With the Qatar World Cup looming in a couple of months, the league matches just keep on rolling. We start this morning with a cracker - the Merseyside Derby. Everton are rubbish these days, so it's not the rivalry of old but it's still one of the biggest derby matches of the season. That's followed by the 10am kickoffs, including the London Derby between Chelsea and West Ham, the other London Derby between Spurs and Fulham, and, somewhat improbably, the USA televised match featuring my beloved Leeds United visiting Brentford. We wrap things up with Villa being thrown to the Wolves of Man City. How many will Haaland bag today? Pop the popcorn and settle in. Cheers!

Morning Boys
I am here for Merseyside Derby and the Leeds match.
Don't think I'll bother watching the City match
We are off at Goodison
The teams
Everton: Pickford, Patterson, Coady, Tarkowski, Mykolenko, Davies, Onana, Iwobi, Maupay, Gray, Gordon.
Subs: Keane, Allan, McNeil, Begovic, Coleman, Gueye, Ruben Vinagre, Rondon, Mills.
Liverpool: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, van Dijk, Tsimikas, Elliott, Fabinho, Carvalho, Salah, Nunez, Diaz.
Subs: Milner, Firmino, Adrian, Jota, Robertson, Arthur, Matip, Bajcetic, Phillips.
Referee: Anthony Taylor (England).
Looks like some Liverpool fans aren't in the stadium yet
Another big derby today
The Old Firm is kicking off too
I like that Everton didn't make a substitution at Elland Road
Good Morning , Dave . Here to join you for the Mersey Derby
Morning David
Everton are holding their own so far
Tomorrow morning, I am playing golf with Jonathan at 730. Hopefully i'l be back for the Arsenal match
Have fun playing golf with Jonathan. Hope you two have a great time
I saw that the Baggies drew 1-1 vs Burnley yesterday thanks to an an equalizer in the eighth minute of stoppage time. Brucie's lads have drawn six out of matches
Looks like Darwin Nunez replaced Firminoi in the starting lineup. Fiurmino played well and should have kept his place in the starting lineup.
Celtic takes the lead vs Rangers in the Old Firm Derby. A Celtic win would put them five pints clear at the top this early in then season
Toffees corner cleared then a shot from anthony Flash Grordon saved by Alison
The one thing I don't like about Anthony Gordon is lying down and rolling about for every bit of contact. Would have fit in perfectly at Chelsea . Then Damari Gray should have been booked for a dive
There are fouls called all over the place!
You know Klopp and Lamps are going to go at it today
Now Anthony Gordon retaliates by fouling Tsmikas. Now we have a right and proper Mersey Derby
I dont' think Gray should have been booked. There was a challenge made on him. There may not have been contact but his leg had to miss the tackle
Jesse went at Lamps, who is probably used to it by now and probably enjoys it. Klopp went after Eddie Howe. Those two are masters at that dirty art
That's good point , Dave. Just used to too many players diving for any little thing
They always mention possession and then say it doesn't mean much...why comment on it!
Klopp and Lamps had words when Lamps was at Chelsea
Sort of a big early season match in the Bundesliga kicking off at 9:30 Bayern vs Union Berlin. Winner goes top. If it's a draw then Dortmund will be top after their win yesterday
Surprising they've been shy so far. Also surprised the Toffees haven't been wasting time like they did at ER on Elizabeth's birthday
oooh...off the woodwork by the Toffees!!!!
OH! Off the post from Top Davies . Thought the Toffees had taken the lead
Professionals should always be able to use both feet well!!
It is their job!
I can...why can't they!
Some stupid fouls going on out there...use your brains
My cousin Heidi and her husband Andy are season ticket holders at Fratton Park. They have been on holiday for a couple weeks and missed home matches. Now they both have Covid and won't be able to go to the top of the table clash against the Posh today
Agreed about the feet. Not sure that modern footballers are known for their brainpower unless I'm missing something , LOL!
Liverpool have not really created anything
Brainpower...good point
First booking by my guy...who I put on the bench today...phew
YIKES! It's a shame that they have to kiss such a big match, but those vacations are always tough. Hope they feel better
Everton still haven't won this season but have drawn their last three games
I have a funny , but true walkies story that happened yesterday. A family in our subdivision was doing a garage sale and their sign said " Our Crap Can Be Your Crap." Sound like something that got Scotty Parker sacked?
I think they've all been 1-1 draws. Pickford even assisted on one of those goals
They were sunning in the Mediterranean for over a fortnight!
Lucky buggers
Celtic three up vs Rangers . Looks like they'll end the match five points clear at the top. Call the engravers?
Wow....Liverpool hit the post twice!!
OH! Pool hit the post twice. Hit each post. Pickford won the battle of survival of the fittest as he tipped the shot from Charles Darwin Nunez oin to the post then the one from Luis Diaz hit the other post leaving Pickford rooted to the spot
Love to see Pool drop more points
Into stoppage time. AN LOB blogging duet of that
Geez....Celtic THREE up coming up to half time
It's 0-0 at the end of an entertaining first half
Half time at Goodison
Still scoreless
I am back from a coffee run for Kathy and Doug
I was listening to the match in the car on Talksport. 5Live has the Old Firm on
Right now Celitic have 18 points out of 18 with Rangers five points back. The GD is +23 to +8....that's another point!
We need an Everton win. This point for Liverpool take them above United on GD
5Live's 3 o'clocker is from the Bridge for the London derby
Morning, boys - we had some twin shenanigans this morning, but I'm settling in.
Robertson and Milner on Three First Names and Tsimikas
Milners 600 game
Nice run by Gordon to the byline.... wins a corner
Rubbish corner!!!
Welcome Bob
How's one been.
Back for the second half and looks like I didn't miss much
Good morning, Bob. Back on a rainy , but mild morning
oooh...Everton almost in...KEEP GRAY AWAY FROM CORNER
He is taking it....it was better
Been a good game here
I didn't that He was Gana to come on for Tom Davies for his second Toffees debut.
Oh - Bobby Chompers goes close!
Sunny here but crisp
I'm going to be chilly at the golf tomorrow
Back to back saves by Pickers...both off of Firmino
Shot from Bobby Chompers turned around by Pickford for a Pool corner then he saves again from the same player off the corner
Another good save!
They are saying Everon on the ropes...agreed the last minute or so but Everton have been doing well
Then Pickford turns around a Fab shot out was it blocked by the defender in front of him
HOW DID MAUPAY NOT SCORE!!
Not a great save...he hit him right in the chest....stick it to the side!
BASIC
Damari Gray breaks off the corner then Neil MAupay should;d havce scored on his Toffees debut but right at Alison for a corner with just the keeper to beat
An ad for M&Ms flashed on the screen . Was that Bob's doing?
Everton break...Gordon looks good
ANOTHER CRAPPY PLAY BY THE NEW MAN!
Corner to Pool. Andy Robertson takes then Gordon leads the break , then plays a one two with Maupay then has a shot blocked for a Toffees corner
I see it... knock it off Dad!
Ball in the net!!
Maupay finds Coady at the back post!
Love it
GOAL ! POOL CHILDHOOD FAN, CONNOR COADY GIVES POOL THE LEAD.
Looks like Connor Coady was offside form the pass from Neil Maupay. Will it stand? VAR checking. I think it will be disallowed
Well offside
Is he on?
No reason to be
Is he equal to the ball?
GOAL! Bedlam as Maupay scores his first goal for Everton
It is offside
SO stupid not to keep on side
Offside it is.
I think one ;erg was in front of the ball, so not should not count. It's disallowed. Still 0-0
As things stand this will be the fourth consecutive draw for the Toffees.
FOTMOB is fourteen seconds ahead of the match
Bob, do you know the name of the album that China Girl was on?
Poor by NBC again!
VVD gets a yellow....he normally doesn't
That was nasty...VAR should send him off
Go to the screen...love to see another Pool player out for three
Studs up...why aren't they looking?
Agreed. Horrible by Van Dyke.
He clears for a corner. Toffees might have been in against ten men
Celtic get a fourth.... Rangers keeper passes it straight to a Celtic player who kicks it straight in
Bloody Pep
Double switch from Klopp. Matip for Harvey Elliott and Jota for Charles Darwin Nunez. One defensive change from Klopp. Defensive or switching to a back four?
Celtic five points clear. Time to call the engravers
It wasn't looked at because VVD is the greatest defender ever and would never mean it
David Turnbull with that Celtic goal. Called that because he turned in the pass that was a bunch of Bull.
Leeds starting youngsters at Brentford
Why take off Gordon...TRY AND WIN THE DAMN GAME in the last few minutes
Dwight McNeil on for Anthony Flash Gordon. This will add more width for the Toffees.
Great explanation, Dave. Spot on
Also 17 goals ahead!
Rangers managed by former Gunner, but perhaps for not much longer. Will that pave a return to Ibrox for Stevie G?
More patheticness from Maupay...keeps making the wrong choice.....Great save by Allison
That's a lot. Almost two Cherries matches for Celtic. I think they scored nine at Dundee United last weekend
He did get Rangers into the Champions League.
Nice tip over by Alison
Liverpool better not get a couple extra points late like they did on Wednesday
Rangers fans may be upset that they're going to be a distant second to their bitter rivals for a second consecutive season. I think that would be the main reason to sack him. Won league titles with Stevie G
The main reason for that was the four minutes of Toon time wasting in stoppage time. otherwise it would have been a draw. Time wasting doesn't always work
Pickford makes another save
This has been a good Nil Niller
Nice save by Pickford from Bobby Chompers then cleared away
Agreed. A lot more entertaining then the scoreline would suggest
Stevie G only won 1 title and VonBronk has taken them to European Final and the Champions League.
Just getting to your question, Dave. Bowie's "China Girl" was on his "Modern Love" album. "Let's Dance" was on it as well.
Looks like Celtic will win title #53. Rangers have won 55
Half a dozen stoppage time min utes.
I just answered the crossword question
The answer was actually Lets Dance
The clue was 1983 Album with China Girl and Modern Love
I knew you'd know
This result is making our 1-1 draw with the Toffees look a bit better now.
You're right . For some reason I thought he won more with Rangers. Just not sure if a really distant second in the Old Firm rivalry will go down well with Gers supporters. Being in the CL might just be saving GVB.
Agreed. it's looking like a decent result. I don't see the Toffees going down this season
Only a pair of stoppage time minutes in the Old Firm match
It's over . Celtic win 4-0
Salah....hits the post!!!
THEY BETTER NOT WIN AGAIN!!!
IT WAS A SAVE
OH! Off the post from Salah then the rebound by Salah deflected for a corner. Actually tipped on to the post
Oh - Salah nearly stole it there at the death. That might have been unfair to Everton on the balance of things, right?
A draw here would allow both Uniteds to leap-frog Liverpool into 5th and 6th.
Come on Pickford...just kick it!!
It has been too long... The ref will now add on time....moronic!!
He's going to add time just to stick it to Pickers
STOP TIME WASTING!!
That is it!!
Ends 0-0 but a great match
It's over and honors even as the Mersey Derby finishes 0-0, but it was really entertaining
Next match on USA is Bees vs Leeds in a repeat of the match on the final day of last season where Leeds won to avoid relegation
I'm shocked that we're the televised match with two London Derbies going on at the same time.
You would think so but NBC want $$$. They want people to buy the Cock
Leed has been on the telly just as much as all of last season combined . The suits at NBC are starting to realize they are great entertainment value.
Bob, what do you think about James going off to Fulham on loan?
Every stupid pundit loves to abuse Leeds
Robbie is saying that their press will be abused!
Leeds have conceded
1 in a win
2 in a draw
0 in a win
1 in a loss
1 in a draw
They aren't getting hammered Robbie!
It's raining cats and dogs. Hope the satellite doesn't go out
Klopp has to say that Everton had their chances too
I agree. Poor by Musty to trash the press. No system is perfect.
They want Leeds to play Pep ball.
Keep dry and connected
The satellite just went out. I guess I can watch goal zone on the COCK.
Sorry, Dave. Only one for two. I'm inside and dry. Like a monsoon outside.
PHEW! It just came back on. Now two for two
Leeds scored after the 90th minute in both matches against the Bees last season
Phew
Let's hope Leeds win with time to spare this season
My beloved Leeds United return to the site of one of most satisfying wins last season, where we dispatched Brentford 1-3 on the last day of the season to secure Premier League survival. Today, we arrive with a new look side that has picked up 8 points from five matches. A win today would have us in the top six above the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea. But my patented survival rubric is more humble - an away draw would be enough. Come on, you Leeds! #MOT!!
Goal Rush has yet to start. Are they waiting for an act of Congress?
Agreed, Bob.A draw would eb a creditable result.
COME ON LEEDS! MOT!
Yesterday the Baggies scored an equalizer in the eighth minute of stoppage time as it finished 1-1 vs Burnley. Brucie's lads have drawn six out of eight matches
Goal Zone finally on.
5Live just went to SB...I'm forever blowing bubbles
Goal Rush's feature game is at Bridge
Thankfully not the same match they are showing on the telly
Back from the loo just in time for the 10 AM matches
Wesley Fofana making his Chelsea debut. Wish Goal Rush would go around instead of having a featured match
Off we go
Bees vs Leeds underway.
COME ON LEEDS! MOT!
BIG match in the Bundesliga is 1-1 almost a half hour in . As things stand Dortmund will end the weekend top of the Bundesliga
I agree but at least it isn't the same as the tv
PHEW! leeds caught faffing about at the back and thankfully the Bees shot well wide
I have the telly on, computer on GR and 5Live for all the updates
Agreed. IIt's pointless to watch Goal Zoned when they have the same match as the telly.
I have everything on but 5 LIVE. Telly still hanging in there
Was listening to Talksport yesterday. One of the reporters said these two clubs...who do you think he said
The two biggest teams not to play in the Prem
Rotherham 1 Watford 0
Pompey are behind!!
Rotherham on top vs the Hornets
My mother-in-law made biscuits this morning, so I had to be polite and sit at the table and eat them. Yellow card offense for the poor timing.
Rotherham now in the last playoff spot.
Possible red!
Love to see Chelsea lose again
Agreed. A professional for, taking one for the team, Couldn't be avoided
Hornets down to ninth place. Out off the playoffs on goal difference
The Leeds starting XI today:
Meslier, Drameh, Struijk, Llorente, Koch, Llorente, Koch, Roca, Sinisterra, Adams, Aaronson, Harrison, Gelhardt.
Route one from the Bees as a long clearance from David Ray and a deflected shot saved by Meslier
Stupid foul!!!
10:05 comment
Thoughts?
Spurs have a goal called back
Sorry about the score at Fratton Park. Posh now top, ahead of Tractor Boys on goals scored.
Beckham like attempt....not a good one but a good idea by Gelhart
Joffy tries an ambitious one from across King's Cross St. Pancrass. Very ambitious.
Silly foul given away again. Mark 'em up!
Great quiz question at 10:05. Need to think about that for a minute or two.
There is no right answer but I agreed with the reporter's two clubs
Oh - good ball in to the near post but well blocked by Roca.
Spuds with a goal disallowed for offside. Number One Son scored, but Harry Kane offside , interfering with play as he completely missed the header
Maybe Plymouth is one? One of the Bristol clubs?
One game plus 6 games of 15 minutes....NO GOALS
Pukki gives the Canaries the lead vs Coventry
The reporter said Bristol City and Preston
Have Sheffield Wednesday ever played in the top flight? They're not a very big club.
Well, I got one of them!
I'm going with Bristol City and Argyle as the two clubs. probably not the best choices
I was one for two. I think PNE is a better choice than Argyle
Joffy wins a corner with a good turn and shot.
A PNE stat. In their first seven league matches, five 0-0 draws and two 1-0 wins. Your thoughts. Currently drawing 0-0 at St. Andrews
That's a fair point, David. I've just got a soft for them because of the Plymouth students who have visited Fredonia.
I think that the guy was talking about the Championship
They are both bigger than Rotherham
Canaries go top as they take the lead vs rock bottom Coventry
Yes definitely bigger than Rotherham. I thought he meant all divisions.but he picked the two best clubs
