Friday Night at Wemberley!
It's go time for Gareth's Southgate's England team - and our LOB friend UWS will be in the crowd with the missus at Wemberley. The stakes are fairly simple for England now. They've already qualified for Euro 2024 but need to win both of their remaining fixtures - at home today against Malta and away to North Macedonia on Monday - in order to gain a place in Pot 1 of the draw, which would assure not being grouped with one of the tournament favorites. Today's affair should be routine, but a good performance and a big scoreline would assure a level of confidence in the camp ahead of that crucial last fixture. Come on, the Three Lions!

England are 1-0 up within the first ten minutes due to an own goal by the Maltese fullback under pressure from Foden.
Kane went down in the box under a challenge from the keeper but gets a yellow card for his trouble. Seemed harsh - I thought there was contact but HK was certainly looking for it.
England get the second half underway. Gallagher and Tomori have made way for Walker and Saka.
Great to have Saka's pace on now.
Rash and TAA cleaned each other out - down needing treatment now.
Declan Rice about to replace Hendo.
Bored fans are flinging paper aeroplanes onto the pitch. One particularly fine vessel sails into the centre, causing great cheer. It’s been that sort of evening.
Wahay - Captain Kane notches England's second. 2-0!
3-0! Rice!
No - Kane is found by VAR to have been offside.
Harsh again from the Portuguese ref. England should probably be 4 or 5-0 up. Doesn't really matter though.
