The Best Day of the Year!
FA Cup 3rd Round Saturday - it's still my favorite day of the season. Everyone starts fresh with the promise of a Saturday in May at Wembley at stake. I'm starting this morning with AFC Wimbledon v. Ipswich and then I'll shortly be switching over to the Northeast Derby between Sunderland and Newcastle. Should be a grand day - join me for all the action.

I love it that Wimbledon's Stadium is Cherry Red Records Stadium. I know I know it's corporate but Cherry Red was the original home of bands I love like Everything but the Girl.
First real chance there fort the Tractor Boys. Palmer drove a great cross over and and Biler should have done better.
GOAL! Ipswich are in front. It's a scrappy one from a corner that Broadhead stabs home. May have also come off a defender. Regardless, Ipswich are in front. 1-0!
With Ipswich safely in front, I've switched over to the Northeast Derby, where there is a bit of a panel show going on, with Craig Burley in the studio with some moistened bint.
Team news out of the Northeast:
Sunderland: Patterson, Hume, O’Nien, Ballard, Alese, Ekwah, Neil, Pritchard, Bellingham, Clarke, Rusyn.
Subs: Pembele, Semedo, Burstow, Ba, Aouchiche, Seelt, Triantis, Bishop, Rigg.
Newcastle United: Dubravka, Trippier, Schar, Botman, Burn, Longstaff, Bruno Guimaraes, Joelinton, Almiron, Isak, Gordon.
Subs: Dummett, Lascelles, Ritchie, Krafth, Karius, Hall, Livramento, Parkinson, Miley.
Referee: Craig Pawson (South Yorkshire).
It's notable that Eddie Howe is playing just about a full-strength side here. They obviously need a morale-boosting win.
The Sunderland side has a good deal of interest, too, with our old academy buddy Jack Clarke and Jude Bellingham's younger bruvver Jobe up front.
Kieran Tripper with an early corner.
Oh - great ball in from Tripper and Sean Longstaff's header had to be beaten away by goalkeeper Patterson.
Trippier with a free kick chance - into the wall and trickles through to Patterson.
Sunderland haven’t spent much time in Newcastle’s half. They attempt to rectify that by press, press, pressing, and slowly nudge the action upfield. They’re never in control of the ball, but bitty action in the other half is a baby step forward.
It seems like Dan Ballard leaned on Isak there, but referee Pawson didn't see it and there is no VAR in the Cup.
GOAL! Newcastle are in front and it appears to be an own goal. Ballard is forced to turn it into his own net under pressure from Almiron.
Nearly half-time now, with Newcastle comfortably ahead.
