The First Saturday of the Season
Morning, chaps! Hey ho - it's the first Saturday of the season. And we start with a real bang. My beloved Leeds United have had a turbulent week, dropping points on the opening weekend and then collapsing in the League Cup against Boro in midweek and then losing our talisman Georginio Rutter to Brighton at the end of the week. What on earth will we look like this morning as we travel to meet up with old friend Carlos Corberan at the Hawthorns. At the same time, Liverpool kick off their season against newly-promoted side Ipswich in a match that should really have featured us. Three years ago, we returned to the Premiership in glory with a superb performance in a losing 4-3 effort at Anfield. Now we're languishing in the Championship while Ipswich are enjoying a Premier League debut. Join me to see what the day bring, eh?

One change in the side that drew against Pompey last weekend. Rutter of course on his way to Brighton, so Joel Price takes his place.
I expect WBA to play a low block and hit us on the break. I wonder what they'd do if we played it tight at the back as well and just asked them to press us.
Very cagey start, just as I'd predicted.
I'll be spending much of the season tracking the progress of ex-Leeds players in the Premier League. I notice that Leif Davis is starting for Ipswich up against Mo Salah, but new arrival Kal Phillips is sat on the bench.
Ethan Ampadu with a Pele effort from halfway. Bit ambitious.
Jaidyn Bogle continuing to struggle on the defensive side. He gives away a free kick and gets a yellow.
Big flap from Meslier there but Bartley couldn't profit.
Bit of a stalemate at the moment; this is just what I was wondering that Farke might do under the circumstances.
Nasty clash there which leaves two players in a heap. Firpo seemed high and late there.
Yellow for Firpo.
Oh - Struijk inches away from opening the scoring!
Half time comes. Really boring first half. 0-0.
Still pretty flat out there. Under the circumstances, I'm not fussed but we can't play this way at home.
I'd like to see Aaronson come on for Piroe in a minute to inject a bit of pace into our attack.
Gruev has a chance to swing in a free kick here. Ampadu connects with it but Palmer is able to collect fairly easily.
Oh - Piroe had a great chance there but it just kind of ricocheted off him and out.
Liverpool have taken the lead through Jota after Salah roasted Leif Davis.
Two changes. Aaronson on for James and Rothwell on for Piroe.
Oh - big chance for the Baggies. Bartley should have nailed the header.
Oh - Struijk again with a close one. He's been the main goal threat for us today.
