Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Ooh! I Think I've Done Meself an Injury!

I've been thoroughly enjoying the spate of friendly matches we've had in the past two weeks, but I have to admit that the casualty rate has been astounding. I don't remember a World Cup in which so many top players for the top sides were sidelined. Of course, we all know about Roon and his metatarsal, but the full list of hospital cases makes for some depressing reading. Here are some of the notable figures, with either a ? if they're questionable or an X if they're definitely out of the tournament:

England - Rooney (?), Neville (?), Green (x)
U.S. - Reyna (?), Hejduk (x)
Italy - Zambrotta (?)
Brazil - Ronaldo (?), Edmilson (x)
Germany - Ballack (?), Huth (?)
Argentina - Messi (?)
Holland - Van der Vart (?)
Spain - Alonso (?), Del Horno (x)
Czechs - Koller (?), Rosicky (?), Smicer (x)
Sweden - Ljungberg (?)
Korea - Park Ji sung (?), Lee Dong-gook (x)

This is by no means an exhaustive list either. Each day seems to bring more injury woes. That's why I'll be watching tomorrow's England vs. Jamaica match from behind the couch peeking through crossed fingers.

Three more injuries for the Dutch team today after their friendly with Australia, including a serious one for Wesley Snejder. Their midfield is looking weaker and weaker. It could break open that Group of Death.

365 are reporting today that five England players skipped training today, including Becks, Neville, Terry, Cashley and of course the Roon. Should we be worried?
