Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Champions League Quarter Finals!

It's semi-final day for the super rich clubs of Europe. Today it's:

PSV vs. Liverpool and
AC Milan vs. Bayern

In addition there are a couple of crucial Coke games involving the bottom dwellers. I'll be in and out during the day but will be checking the matches when I can. Enjoy!

Midway through the first half and Liverpool are already one-up on PSV away and well on their way to another semi final birth. PSV are probably the weakest team still in the competition - this really should have been Liverpool vs. Arsenal.

And Milan are one up at home to Bayern. They'll have to do better than that to beat the German champions.

Half time scores -

PSV 0 Liverpool 1
Milan 1 Bayern 0

The worst score of the night is that Burnley are absolutely slaughtering Plymouth 0-3. How does that happen. We need a Preston goal today against QPR.

Liverpool should be two up. Gomes fluffed a cross, but Alonso missed a wide open net. Shame. 0-2 really would have been curtains for PSV.

And now it is 0-2 - Riise latching onto a wayward backpass and lashing a thirty yard strike into the top corner. Does he score any bad goals? This tie's over.

Crouchy has added a third goal to Liverpool's total. What a result! How on earth did the Arse get knocked out by this feckless lot?

That's torn it - Burnley have added a fourth goal.

Well, that is it.
Liverpool are virtually through to the next round.

Very very easy.

Sorry our paths didn't cross Bob but I am to the college.

I'll be hoping for a Preston goal.
Only 18 minutes to go.

Final results -

Milan 2 Bayern 2
PSV 0 Liverpool 3

So that's Bayern and Liverpool through to the semis. There's something irresistable about 'Pool in this competition - I really fancy them at this point. Very impressive win today.

Unfortunately the results in the Coke weren't as good today - wins for both Burnley and QPR.

I fancy United against Roma tomorrow - Roma are just bully boys; they haven't the quality. But I think Chelski may come a cropper against Valencia.
