Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

My Side for Saturday

It's a "must not lose" game for England on Saturday. Given that Israel are apparently to field a slightly weakened side (without Benayoun, e.g.) with only one striker up front, here's my starting eleven:
Robbo
P. Neville
Rio
Woody
Carragher
Hargreaves
Gerrard
Barry
Lennon
AJ
Roon

Your thoughts?

Scratch that plan! News out of the England camp today is that Woody has been ruled out. So, that almost certainly means that Macca has to go with a back three - probably with Rio, Carragher and either Phil Neville or Barry. It also means that he's even more likely to pack the central midfield area with Hargreaves, Lamps and Gerrard. Not good.

I saw that Woody was crocked
I would pick
Robbo
Carragher
Rio
Terry
Barry
Hargreaves
Gerrard
Lamps
Lennon
AJ
and
Ron

Same as you except for Terry in.

Are you going to pay for it?

I am going to find out tonight at my game if anyone is interested.

Davey, "Ron?" I know you're a loyal Manc and absolutely bonkers about your little Portuguese winker but surely even you must know that he's not available for selection by England.

On a more serious note, I'm not sure that Terry is quite right yet after his horrific injury. And seeing that this is an absolutely crucial match, I wouldn't risk him.

I'm not sure that this match is available for individual patrons on ppv - I think it's a "pub-only" Setanta match, unfortunately. I may be wrong in this, but I reckon the only way to see it is to fork out to the Irish gangsters down your local (if you have one.) No, I won't be paying. I'll be up in D.C. over the weekend and will no doubt follow it on-line with the Gooner and will blog if allowed. I may also call you periodically for updates, Davey, so keep that cellphone on you at all times.

I am going to be home. There is not going to be any get together with my buddies.

We won our semi last night.
We won 10-4. I scored four quick goals in the first half and then didn't score again.
