Coca Cola Tuesday!
It's another fizzy weekday in the Championship with a full schedule of fixtures. Having been sucked into a false sense of something like optimism by Leeds United's titanic victory over Luton on Saturday, I'll be avidly watching our trip to Walker Stadium today. Here are the other fixtures:
Coventry v Wolves
Derby v QPR
Leicester v Leeds Utd
Luton Town v Hull City
Norwich v Birmingham
Preston NE v Ipswich
Sheff Weds v Colchester
Southampton v Cardiff City
Southend v Burnley
Sunderland v Stoke City

Okay, to review - beyond the obvious win for the Whites against Leicester today, we need:
* Luton and Hull to draw.
* A Derby win over QPR
* An away win for Burnley at Southend
Barnsley don't play today so we should automatically pick up some territory on them.
That would leave the tables at:
Hull 39
Barnsley 38 (with a game in hand)
Luton 37
Leeds 37 (poor goal diff.)
QPR 36
Southend 35
It's a lot to ask but it would be nice!
The Coke may not have superior footballing teams but you can't fault it for excitement. There are still nine teams with a chance of earning promotion and six clubs fighting the drop. Compare that with the Premiership - only two clubs have a chance of winning the championship and two clubs are already dead and buried with only one slot left between two clubs.
BBC Five Live is still on - I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop but so far so good. Lovely jubbly.
First goal of the night - Preston have scored against the Tractor Boyz. 1-0.
Bright start for the Whites - we've had a corner and a header over the bar from the goalscorer on Saturday Cresswell.
Bugger! QPR have scored against Derby. Unbelievable - Derby are second and they're going to let the scrubs from Loftus Road get something out of them!
Double bugger! Five Live has popped off.
I've just noticed that I don't even recognize about half of the side that Wisey has run out today. Armando Sa? Radostin Kishishev? Lubomir Michalik?
No worries - if they can keep us up, I'll love em all the same.
Hull have taken the lead at Kenilworth Road in the relegation dogfight of the afternoon. If there has to be a winner today, make it Hull - Luton are closer to us now. That puts them on 36 points and Hull on 41.
Sheffield Wednesday have taken the lead against Colchester in a mid-table clash.
Leeds still in control of the match at Walker Stadium but still scoreless.
Soton have scored against Cardiff in a crucial playoff battle.
Wednesday are 2-0 up over Colchester.
Hey Bob, I am checking in from the college. Not so good so far.
Hull is winning but Luton are losing.
What is with QPR beating Derby?
Uh oh, Cambridge are losing 2-0 at home. They are very close to dropping out of the Conference.
Hi Dave: Actually, it's not exactly playing out the way I wanted it. But one goal for us would see us out of the drop zone!
Couldn't give a toss about Cambridge.
Two goals in a minute at the Stadium of Light - Sunderland 1 Stoke 1.
We've had four shots to Leicester's one - it's time to make that dominance count.
Good old Keano, he is taking them straight up.
Dowie seems to have worked some magic at Coventry. The are one up against Wolves
Yes, that'll hurt Wolves's playoff chances.
AND BLAKE HAS SCORED!!!
Next manager for United - Keano?
YESSSSS!
as we speak, Leed are third bottom
If he keeps going like this, absolutely
Uh oh
1-1
A minute bloody later!!!
Yes, indeed. Third bottom and breathing down Barnsley's neck. We could really use a Derby goal now.
Couldn't they keep it tight til half?
Bugger!
That happened so quickly that I didn't even have a chance to see the tables change. Rats!
Soton now 2-0 up over Cardiff.
Half time.
Back on bottom
Wolves score an early equalizer in the second half
Sunderland are behind again
Birmingham are losing
We needs goals for Burnley and Derby, please. Ta very much.
So the top three clubs are all losing now. Extraordinary!
And we need a goal for LEEDS
As you said, the top three are losing. Fourth place is drawing.
Yikes!!!
Let's home Chelski do the same tomorrow. NO ONE thinks Citeh will get anything from that game. That is when a team is at its most dangerous.
That should read
"Let's HOPE...
Citeh have been shocking recently. Did you see the Blackburn game at the weekend. Joey Barton's tackle was pornographic. Now I here he was arrested last night for GBH in a nightclub. And Psycho could lose his job if Chelski run riot over them. Should be tasty. I'll be home for that one for sure.
I will be back. I have to change classrooms. I am in an empty classroom waiting for mine to open up. I think it is right now.
I'll be back
Off you go, lad!
Hull are now 2-0 up over Luton. That should be enough for them. Not the perfect result, but I'll take it. It certainly keeps the Hatters in the mire. Mike Newell - couldn't happen to a nicer guy.
Come on you RAMS!!!
Cambridge are four down at home!!
I know, you give a toss
Not a tinge of sadness for Phil?
I'm not sure Phil gives a toss any more, sadly. Nope.
How much time left in these games?
All of them kicked off at 7:45?
Into the last ten minutes?
Was there a late KO?
Luton have scratched out a goal. Wouldn't mind seeing a 2-2 draw there.
Luton got a goal back with 20 minutes to go.
Make that five down to York
Crikey!
That's more like it
Yeah there are two late KOs. The Sunderland vs. Stoke one started at 8 p.m. GMT and the Coventry vs. Wolves was meant to start at 7:45 but was moved back because of traffic to 8 p.m.
Thank you for that travel bulletin
I wonder how many are in the crowd at Abbey Stadium tonight?
You want the weather report?
please do that. I am going there in three weeks
Going where? Bit of Disneyworld action? It's sunny and high of 81 today - you?
Jolly old England
Shut it with the 81.
We are loving our weather. It is in the fifties.
Derby have tied it up.
Wolves fall behind again
Old Blighty, eh? Good for you. I'm trying to see if I can get over in August for the start of the new season. It's the only chance I'll have of seeing Leeds!
Lovely job Derby.
Cardiff have tied it up with Soton.
Coming down to the final minutes.
Southend scored a late late winner and it is over
PNE have beaten Ipswich.
Wednesday have beaten Colchester.
Oh no! The Shrimpers - bugger!
Suddenly Burnley are not looking too safe. They haven't won in yonks.
Derby and QPR have drawn. Shame - I was really hoping for a Derby win there.
It's over except at Coventry and Sunderland.
Sorry Buddy
Leeds have drawn. Not good enough. Still rooted to the bottom of the table and four points from safety now.
Three points from safety(really four)
Students are coming in.
I am off.
see ya
I'm going to buzz off down to the pool to hang out for a for a while before KC comes home from class. Will catch you tomorrow, Dave?
