Footie Trivia Question of the Week
It's been a couple of weeks since the last footie trivia question, so it's high time for a good head scratcher. "The magazine France Football created the "Ballon d'Or" prize to award the European Footballer of the Year back in 1956. The current holder is Real Madrid's Fabio Cannavaro. Since 1956 there have only been five British footballers awarded the prize. Name them and the year/s that they won."

You're both right on Charlton and Best. Charlton, not surprisingly in 1966 and Best the year that United took the European Cup - 1968.
Dave's got Keegan but he's one year off in the sequence - 1977 and 78 right after he buggered off to Hamburg.
So, there's one more. It's not Law, Gazza or Becks.

My bad, Dave. My information had it at five British players; I suppose that they weren't counting Scots, eh? But your information is absolutely correct. 1964 - a good year.
As is Sir Trev's. Wee Mikey won it in 2001, largely based on his hat-trick in Munich. I reckon that Becks was pretty close behind him too, given his heroics in that WC qualifying campaign, especially against Greece.
