Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

As expected the Arse have sent out an understrength side for today's match.

Graham Poll as referee? That should mean that Senderos will have a minimum four yellow cards today.

The sides have kicked off - let's hope for more of the same stuff that these two sides played at the weekend.

I am here watching the tellie with you.
Of course, no one was here for my match yesterday.
United were already three up!!!

Actually I'm stuck in the office watching the text. I'll expect you to paint a picture for me like Ritchie Benoit on the cricket.

Will do
That was a maiden over by Gilberto

Blogger United We Stand said...

Not much happening so far.
I guess the ground is very wet. Tough conditions for the players...wimps

While there's a lull in the match, here's a joke for you:

"What do David Beckham and British Rail have in common?"

3:24 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Chance for Arsenal but miss control by Aliadiere but goes down like a sack of spuds. Brad is not a happy camper. Nothing given.. no card either

3:28 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

No idea

3:29 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

They both go in and out of Victoria!

Boom boom!

3:31 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Arsenal are getting closer.
Very statuesque defending by Rovers

3:32 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Thank you for that one Basil Brush

3:32 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

I have another one:

"What do Becks and a diamond ring have in common?"

3:36 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

The Beast had a completely open header from six yards out.
OVER THE TOP

3:36 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

They both come in a Posh box!

Oh, please yourself....

3:38 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

So what did you make of the Ljungberg penalty claim? Any merit?

3:38 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Not much

3:40 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Traore in the wars now - first he seems to handle it in the box and then he's booked for a rash challenge. He has to be careful now.

3:41 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Freddie had a chance but again a bad first touch.
Should have been a goal

3:43 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Sounds like it's all Arsenal, right?

3:43 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Not really

3:46 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Arsenal have had some chances but they have not been all over them.
Two minutes til half

3:48 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Nothing like yesterday's game

3:48 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Who would win a penalty shoot-out at the end tonight?

3:49 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

The commentator says there is a lack of desire or intensity in Arsenal's play.
Why don't they want to win this?
Surely, Arsene can concentrate on the Cup and Champions League

3:50 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Half time.
Pretty useless.
Blackburn have not mustered a single chance.
Arsenal have had quite a few chances but not dominating

3:53 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

They're spread too thin - I reckon that Arsene can't be bothered. The priority is clearly the Champions League at this point.

just saw the Man Utd/Crystal Palace Cup Final from '90 is on FSC on Sunday night at 11.
I don't know if I ever saw those goals. The game ended as a 3-3 draw. Ian Wright comes off the bench and scores two
I will be glad to see that.

Second half is under way

4:07 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Looks like Rovers have changed to a 3-5-2

4:08 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Still Nonda and Derbyshire up front?

4:09 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Pederson just had a chance for free kick from the side of the box. Hit it low into the side netting. A BIG Waste. He puts it in the top corner against United

4:11 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

yup

4:11 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Emerton has moved up from the defense. He has more of a free role.
Blackburn have had much more of the ball.
Close chance for Nonda. Just missed getting a good touch

4:12 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Arsenal phaffing about with inside their own box

4:13 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Baptista with a good shot.
Good save from BF. Not a difficult high save

4:15 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Score check from Italy.
Inter 1 Udinese 1 inside the last five minutes.
The streak of 16(?) straight wins may be coming to an end.

4:16 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Pederson with a chance and blasts it over the top.
Should have done better

4:21 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Inter have been held to the draw

4:25 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

What a tedious match!

Inter must have come back in that one - they were behind. Still, they're a shoe-in for the Scudetto this season.

4:30 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Wenger have a bigt of argy bargy with Pederson who came into his technical area to get ball off of Wenger.

4:31 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

This half has been bette but still useless.
Again, yesterday's game was really exciting. United's three goals in under six minutes then a lot of credit should be given to Reading. THEY REALLY WENT FOR IT.

Good shot again from Baptista. Great save from BF

4:34 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Hleb takes a shot.... and it goes out for a throw-in

4:38 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

This one could go on all bleedin' night!

4:40 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

I'm off to the library - will be back in a tick.

4:40 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Six minutes to go. Still no sign of a goal

4:45 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Blackburn have been giving a lot of free kicks aways. It ccould come back to hurt him

4:47 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Did you see Boro's first goal against Reading.
A great back heel from Viduka but the free kick was taken with all of the Boro players starting from outside the box.

4:48 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Great goal by Benny McCarthy.
Great dribble and great shot.
Could that be the winner?

4:48 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Under four minutes to go.
Rifled into the top corner from the left side of the goal

4:49 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Scunthorpe, top of D1, won again last night at Crewe. Their striker has been scoring all over the place. HE IS ON LOAN FROM LEEDS.

4:50 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Commentator says Graham Poll may not be able to continue. No sign of coming off though

4:51 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Poll fell over as the goal was going in.
Classic.

Picked a hell of time going to the library.
THREE minutes of added time left

4:52 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

One minute left

4:54 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Free kick chance for The Arse to get the balll in box.
Ball didn't get over the first man.

Another chance in box. Comes to nothing

4:55 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Over the three minutes and it's over!!!

What a shocker.

Blackburn definitely didn't deserve it over the two ties.
I am definitely rooting for Citeh to know these guys out

4:56 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

That should be 'knocked' out

4:58 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Good to hear from you Bob.
I think I am going over to a friend's house to watch the Pool United game. Don't know if I will be around for the rest of the matches.
