Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Footie Trivia Question of the Week

Obviously relegation is on my mind quite a bit these days, so this might be an appropriate trivia question for this week. It's a two parter:

1) "Which English club has had the most seasons in the top flight of the game (either old First Division or Premiership)."

2) "Which English club has had the most consecutive seasons in the top flight without being relegated?"

(Bonus points if you can get close to the number of years).

Good luck, lads!

Yes, there are two different answers for these questions. And no, it isn't Leeds. (sigh)

I don't understand the first question. What dow "eight old First Division" mean?

That should read "What does"

Sorry, mate. I've corrected it on the original post - it should have read "either" rather than "eight." Dunno where the "eight" came from - maybe the eight goals that we're going to stick past the Shrimpers tomorrow. Come on you Whites!

I know there is a slight difference in both questions.
I have not looked this up at all but here are my guesses.

1) Everton

2) Arsenal

Am I right? Are they switched?

Absolutely correct Dave. Everton have played 98 seasons in the top flight. But Arsenal have the longest run - since 1914. Pretty close - Arsenal could claim both if Everton were relegated and stayed down a couple of seasons.
