Premiership Live!
If it's Saturday, it's the Premiership. All the action starts in a moment with Arsenal traveling to Boro for one of those cold weather away days that the Gunners love so well. Then at 10 we've got Liverpool vs. Hull and later United at Shite Fart Lane to take on Spurs on the box.
I'll also be monitoring the Division 1 play with Leeds at home to Colchester most on my mind.
Join me for the usual Saturday LOB routine.

After searching around for a while, I've finally found a link for the Boro-Arsenal. It's at:
http://www.justin.tv/vipbay9
Magic. I'm just in time for kick-off at the Riverside. It's a must win for the Gunners.
Boro are having a go at it early on with Stuart Downing trying to test the Arsenal fullbacks.
Almunia's having a 'mare so far. He's come for two corners already and not got even close to it.
Hiya Davey,
I overslept a bit but I'm here at last. Just in time to see Alumunia fail on that corner.
That was better however. RVP really should have done better. And oh missus, Diaby's is very wide.
I've lost the video on the stream for some reason. Only audio now.
Morning, Gooner! No Davey yet but I'm here trying to search around for a good stream for the match. Not easy today.
I'm on the first link for Setanta sports. http://www.ustream.tv/videoplayerpopup/channel/398492
GOAL! It's Adebayor with a goal from a corner. I didn't see it but I'm listening to Andy Gray describing it.
Arsenal 1-0!
YESSSSS!
Adebayor from a RVP corner and was he unmarked? Yes he was.
I'm loving it especially because it's really caught the commentators out who were really giving it large about how great 'Boro's performance has been and how nervy we are.
1-0.
Cheers, mate. That did the trick. It's not the same coverage without Andy Gray but the picture is cystal clear.
It's all Arsenal pressure now.
Huth completely lost his man there. What a clanger! Terrible goal from a Boro perspective. The manager won't be happy with that given his experience as a center back.
Magic ball into RVP, but Robin can't get any space. Goes for a corner, and Sagna at the back crosses it into touch.
Man, these two commentators are really moanie that 'Boro's gone down a goal.
"Well, there's plenty of time for Boro to get back in this one," consoles one to the other.
Wankers, the both.
Sorry mate! I thought that it was Davey. Told you I was groggy. The dog was very restless last night and I'm a bit knackered.
That goal has pushed you ahead of United into third.
Like me new profile pickie?
Sorry to hear that. I'll have to bring my supply of Darvocet to drug the wee beastie when I come down next weekend.
I do. It took me a while to figure out that it was the Emirates facade. At first it looked a bit like the Parthenon and I thought - "Hmmm...homage to Athenian democracy?"
Your lads are flowing now. It took then ten minutes or so to get into the match.
RVP coming for a short corner and getting waved off by Fab there. The big goon doesn't like to get his head on the ball, does he?
Once at about 330pm, he started barking. I looked out the window and some insomniac is walking his dog and letting it have a wee up against the tree. But I ask you, why not bung the beast out the back at that hour.
Ooooh, Diaby hit that well through traffic. Could have pinged past the keeper there.
Oh dear, it's Aliadiere with an equalizer. Clichy was at fault there, trying to play the ball out. Tuncay crossed and Aliadiere does what he couldn't do for the Gunners.
1-1
He's Dutch.
Ah Shit, Aliadiere with a header that he never was capable of when he was ours.
And the commentators go mad.
1-1
They really have brought out the Boro fans for the commentary today. Who the hell are these boys? On the other link, I had the A team - Martin and Andy.
We are of one mind on Jeremie.
That was surely a dangerous challenge, right? It's from behind and he rolls over the attacker's legs.
Denilson's down after Huth has kicked him up in the air unceremoniously.
It's all very frantic and ping-pongy right now and that can only favor a non-footballing side like Boro.
Boro are claiming a penalty there. I didn't see a lot of contact. The color guy is claiming that there doesn't need to be contact if there's "intent" on the defender's mind. Really? What rulebook is he looking at?
Close there. I think Johnson was caught by Clichy, but he was going very quickly and I think he was a bit out of control. Could have gone either way.
Almunia comes and claims from a free kick and is clattered for his trouble. The referee has to get a grip of this match. It could boil over.
And RVP misses a sitter!
This has become a very dangerous part of the game for us. We're at our customary stroll with quick breaks and Boro's just hustling everywhere.
But at the other end, RVP falls over when he could have just shoveled that in.
Chance wasted because he's so profoundly left footed. Contorted himself wildly to use his left foot.
Tuncay is limping. It would be nice if he'd come off.
Nice run from Fab but the shot was into Row M.
Agreed. He's been good for 'Boro.
Sagna must be carrying a knock because Downing just raced quickly by him.
My picture is of the old Deco Highbury Avenel road entrance.
If there's any people I really have a xenophobic streak against, I have to admit it's the Turks. Maybe a combination of my reading about the Armenian genocide plus the behavior of Turkish fans with the English. But I kept my distance with the large number of Turkish students at UF.
Ah yes, I miss the old stadium. Nice touch.
Have to say that Johnson on the right for Boro has looked really good. Is he English?
Right, peep-peep, and I'm off to toast up a bagel.
Back for the second half.
Half-time. It's a good result for me because I'd predicted 1-1 but Arsene will be looking for goals in the second half.
According to Wikipedia, Adam Johnson is indeed English and has represented the Three Lions at U-19 level. He's 21 now. I agree with you - he's looked dangerous and I hope Fabio is looking closely at the kid.
I'm having a listen to WSD at half time. It's definitely silly season out there in the transfer rumor market. Apparently Citeh are looking for a replacement for Joe Hart - and who wouldn't be? - and are in for both Buffon and Casillas!
Here I am, bagel and coffee ready.
The teams are back out at the Riverside; no changes made by either manager at the half.
Diaby into the book for a high challenge.
Unfortunately Tuncay seems to have recovered at half time and is running freely again.
Allowed him to leave????
Jeremie's time at AFC was marked by many season ending injuries in a row, followed by a marked inability to score goals in the starts and substitutions that he was involved in.
If anything, Aliadiere is showing that he's enjoying a spot of form. If he's carrying a grudge against Arsenal, he's a complete idiot.
Along with this color guy. I really am hating him.
Now it's Aliadiere who's in the wars. He's off the pitch temporarily for treatment.
Well, to be fair Aliadiere was seen as surplus to requirements and was indeed allowed to leave because he was never going to figure in the first team. I reckon it was a good move to a lower level club where he'd be assured first team football.
That's true. But when he was brought in, his potential to that point made him out to be a possible wonderkid. He was one of those early developers that made him the French Freddy Adu for a time. Really, he was held in that kind of regard as a 17-year old.
The game's gone off the boil for the moment. Surely some changes on the way.
Denilson was thinking that RVP would run wide right, where RVP is thinking, play it in on my only confident foot.
Good save, Almunia! Downing was clean through.
I still feel like there are goals to come in this one.
RVP in on an acute angle - just wide.
Adebayor's shot is deflected and could have gone anywhere. Loops out for a corner.
Arsenal keeping Boro in their own half thankfully. I wish that deflection had dipped a little sooner.
What's the weather like today in D.C.?
This is exactly the moment that you would like to have Eduardo ready to come on. I predict the usual Nick Bendtner sub soon to add a battering ram element now that their defenders are looking a bit gassed.
Chilly and windy here in DC. Mid 30's with a possibility of a nothing kind of snow flurry.
Yes, the steam has gone out of Boro. It's all Arsenal possession now.
Not Wilshere?
We've got 21F and snowing right now.
After this, I'm dashing off. Today, DCUnited is selling off their surplus equipment and uniforms at RFK. I've frequently wondered how so many of those Screaming Eagles fans have as much authentic gear at hand... jackets, warm-up tops, signed jerseys, etc. Well, every year, DCUnited has a sell-off, and if you don't mind sporting a warm-up top with Rod Dyachenko's numbers, initials, or name on the back after he's been flogged to the Crapids, well, there you go.
I'm also hoping to see Soehn and Kasper and bend their ear about bringing in North Africans next year. Have I mentioned that before?
Clichy has a go from a mile out and actually wins a corner for his trouble.
Sounds like an excellent afternoon. No, I haven't heard your North African scheme yet.
Aliadiere's on the turf again. He's hobbling off now and it looks as if his day is finally over.
They're pretty big in midfield, so bringing on another small dude might not be my first choice. But Diaby has rather gone underground so, maybe Wilshere.
But the longer this match goes on, the more likely that RVP goes down injured, or contracts mixematosis or cholera or dengue fever. I expect the Bendtner for RVP in a minute.
Fifteen minutes left for either side to break the deadlock. Surely the need for a change for both.
Bendtner might just do the trick. I like him.
Right you are - here come Niklas.
Diaby off for him. Smart move.
Two years ago, these 6 North Africans came to RFK and played those cylindrical drums on straps and danced that male hankie dance that's typically North African. It was magic.
And it hit me that we have the largest Somalian population outside of Somalia in Northern Virginia. We have significant numbers of Moroccans and Tunisians and Ethiopians too. Those countries produce unheralded players who might not expect a lot of money to play, and who might settle well because of the large population of their countrymen. I think that the atmosphere could be really fun too with a crowd of North African supporters.
Aha, here comes big Nick, and no surprise, there goes Diaby.
Just stick him up front to collect and dish off the ball to Adebayor.
Too stupid from RVP there. That guy's going nowhere but the corner flag.
A nice moment there from Song. I didn't expect that.
Corner, Big Nick time.
Crap, short corners, what's the point?
Boro seem satisfied with the point and are bunkering in for the last five minutes.
Sounds like a good marketing plan for DC. Why not?
Bendtner hits a shot straight at Turnbull. Should have squared it.
That was really good from Gallas there. Experience
And Bendtner gives it a lash.
Another chance for the Arse to launch a free kick....
Bendtner guides his header wide. Into stoppage time now...
Fab kicks a Boro player in the head. The referee hasn't gone to his pocket yet. Arsene is livid on the sideline.
DC has been concentrating their scouting efforts on Argentina and but for Gomez, it's been a waste of time and resources. I have a feeling that we've made contact with one agent who represents a stable of clients who simply are past-it, or were never up to it in the first place.
How else can you explain that we heard about a guy named Neill for two years before he shows up finally, and he's 5'4, and couldn't find his way to goal with a Tom-Tom GPS?
Play restarts in the 93rd minute. Not too much time left.
Sounds like the Broadway Danny Rose of footie scouting.
That's it. I know you won't be best pleased with a draw but it's thirty points to start the weekend for me so I'm a happy chappy. Have fun out at RFK this afternoon. Liverpool next Sunday and I'll be with you!
Fair enough. Without Walcott and Nasri, against a very lively Boro midfield, a draw is about right.
These twats are still on about us winning the title? I know that's not going to happen and I don't do this for a living.
Cheerio!
Next up it's Citeh vs. Everton on hte box and Liverpool hosting Hull City on the same Setanta feed. Where are you Davey?
Robbie Keane is on the bench again for Liverpool today. Riera and Dossena are back in the side.
Good Liverpool scarf there - "Santa is a Kopite." Nice one.
Here we go with the Saturday 3 p.m. kickoffs then.
It's Benjani up front for Citeh again. Jo seems to have been permanently frozen out now. Robinho alongside him.
An early shout for a handball on Mascherano. Not seen by Alan Wiley.
A fairly open match at the Eastlands so far with chances for both sides.
GOAL! Would you believe it. Hull lead at Anfield. It was a poorly defended free kick and when it came in again Hyppia missed the header and McShane stuck it in at the back post.
1-0 Hull!
Hull have scored in every away game to date. An amazing achievement for them.
Good save by Timmy Howard from Robinho.
Bugger! Peterboro have taken the lead over Oldham. I'd like a draw there.
No Beckford for us today but Fabian Delph is back in the fold.
And Scunthorpe have taken the lead now. Not going well for us so far.
Wigan are already 2-0 up over Blackburn. That was my prediction from the start. They can all stop playing there now.
Not a lot from the Whites yet. Only one off target shot in the first fifteen minutes. Not good enough.
Jeff Stelling won't be happy. His Hartlepool side are 1-0 down at Hereford.
GOAL! Bloody hell! Liverpool 0-2 down! It's an own goal from Carra. Unbelievable stuff and Davey should be dancing up and down for joy wherever he is.
Scunthorpe score a second and Millwall have taken the lead over Walsall. Not good at all.
GOAL! Liverpool are back in it. Stevie G. playing the captain's role, tucking in a chance from a Dirk Kuyt cross.
1-2.
More goals in the Premiership:
Elmander has scored his first for Bolton away at Villa.
Sunderland are 2-0 up. A brace for Kenwynne Jones there against WBA.
And now Stockport have scored and leapfrogged over Leeds. We're down to 8th. We'll need to win today just to retain our current position at this rate.
Gabby Agbonlahor has equalized for Villa.
A good minute of Div. 1 action there. Yeovil have equalized against Stockport and Northhampton have pegged Scunthorpe back to 2-1.
Very even still at Elland Road after half an hour. We really need a win today.
GOAL! It's Gerrard again! Captain Fantastic has brought Liverpool level after great work in the box from Kuyt and Benayoun. 2-2
Arteta over a free kick at Eastlands. But it comes to nothing.
Walsall have equalized against Millwall. Nice.
And Carlisle have scored against league leaders Leicester. Magic!
YES!!!!!!! Leeds are 1-0 up through Robert Snodgrass. We're up to 35 points with that one.
Scunthorpe have added a third goal against Northhampton. Shame.
Peterboro are now 2-1 over Oldham. I'd love another Oldham goal.
SWP rockets one off the bar at the Eastlands. Still 0-0 there.
Yes! Yeovil are now leading over Stockport.
Villa are now 2-1 up through a Bolton own goal.
And Sunderland are flying at 3-0. Post Keano effect?
If these results hold up I've got 120 points so far today. Wonderful result!
Bugger! Colchester have pegged us back right at the stroke of half time.
Four goals in the first half at Anfield. Whew!
The teams are back out at the Eastlands and Anfield. Kickoff to come...
Jo has come on at half-time for Citeh.
Blimey! Stockport are 2-3 up now.
Sunderland 4-0! WBA are definitely going down.
Oh, Everton should've taken the lead there. The goal was absolutely gaping for Cahill at the backpost.
Northhampton have knocked in a second. It's 4-2 Scunthorpe now.
A draw here at Anfield would give Chelski a tasty opportunity to top the league going into the Christmas period.
Hyppia hits the post with a header from the corner!
Neil Kilkenny now on for Leeds.
4-3 now at Scunthorpe!
And Oldham have equalized at Peterboro. Good stuff.
Leicester have equalized at Carlisle. Shame.
The Citeh fans in the stands at Eastlands look cold and glum.
Bloody hell - David Prutton has been sent off for a second bookable offense. Leeds are down to ten men. And Colchester have scored a second. We're behind with twenty minutes left and a goal down.
Gabby Agbonlahor has scored a third goal for Villa to ruin my perfect score there. Thanks a lot, Gabby.
I would love a winning goal from Liverpool right about now - that would give me an added 15 points.
Leicester have now taken the lead at Carlisle and are up to 44 points.
It's about time to throw big Enoch Showumni into the mix.
Rafa is rolling the dice, taking off Benayoun and bringing on Navil el Zhar - who?
It's one geezer for another for Hull. Dean Windass on for Nicky Barmby.
Lee Cattermole has stuck a third goal in for Wigan against Blackburn to ruin another perfect thirty points. Thanks, Lee.
Here comes big Enoch on for the last ten minutes at Elland Road. I cannot believe that we're going to lose at home to a relegation side.
Sparky is going to throw Darius Vassell on for the last ten minutes and it looks like Robinho who's trudging off.
Come on you Whites!
Babbel on for Riera for the last ten minutes at Anfield.
Ashley Young has stuck a fourth in for Villa. They've really punished Bolton for that early goal.
Jo heads woefully wide at Eastlands.
Five minutes left at Elland Road - Dave's abandoned me today so I'll have to say it:
IT'S LEEDS TIME!
Final change for Liverpool and it's Lucas rather than Robbie Keane. The Irishman will not be pleased to be stuck on the bench watching his side drop points to Hull.
Scunthorpe 4 Northhampton 4! An incredible match there!
Bolton have knocked in a second. It's Villa 4-2.
Everton have stolen a win at Citeh. A free header at a corner has won Everton three points. Diabolical defending there. The Emirati will have to pony up some cash for proper defenders in January. Citeh now well and truly in the relegation dogfight.
Into stoppage time at Elland Road. Come on you Whites!
Full time at Eastlands and Everton have done a smash and grab and Sparky is hanging on for dear life at Citeh.
Full time at the Elland. Another miserable afternoon for us. We're now down to 8th and out of both cups. An uphill battle now to even sneak into the playoff spots. Dire.
I'm off for some lunch and will be back for the United-Spurs match. I'm hoping Davey will be around - I miss your company, mate!
Coming up on kickoff time. I know that the lads on FSC have to sell their product, but honestly! In what universe is Spurs-ManYoo "one of the biggest rivalries in world football? United haven't lost at WHL in yonks.
With Wayne out on suspension, Fergie has no option but to use Carlos Tevez up front alongside Berbatov who should get a "warm" reception at the Lane.
An absorbing match so far. Spurs are already missing the "Sick Note" Ledley King and Jonathan Woodgate has hobbled off now. Not a good omen for them.
The match energy has dropped off a wee bit. Still 0-0 after twenty minutes.
Lennon draws a brilliant save from VDS there.
Fatty Huddlestone has just felled his own play Pavlyuchenko with a shot into to the goolies.
Coming up on half-time at Shite Fart Lane. Still 0-0 and rapidly becoming a bit of a bore just like last week's United match with Sunderland. What's going on with the Red Devils? And where are you Davey?
The sides are back out for the second half. No changes at the interval.
GOAL! No, it won't count. It looked as if Ronaldo had scored but it's been called back for handball. For once I feel sympathy for the Portugeezer. It was a bit of chest and a bit of armpit but not really handball.
The Spurs fans are singing for all that they're worth but it's been relentless United pressure in the second half with even Darren Bent helping out his defense.
Looks like Carlito's day is over, replaced by Old Man Giggs. Scholesy is coming on for Fletcher.
This result would keep United four points behind Chelski in third with Chelski playing West Ham tomorrow. It's looking more and more like a two-horse race to me, especially given that United will miss matches coming up for the silly World Club Cup Championship. No team likes to have to make up matches at the business end of the season.
The extraordinary thing about the Premiership this season is that Chelski are likely to have almost double the points of Fulham who are smack in the middle of the table with 21 points. I reckon that the bottom half of the Premiership are all in the dogfight for relegation. WBA and Blackburn are certainly losing contact with the pack and will go down but any side from about eight could slip into that 18th spot.
Rio should've scored there with a free header from a corner but he can't get over it and it nestles on the top of the netting.
Can ManYoo pull off another late, late show? Ten minutes left now...
Modric almost won it there for Spurs. Tremendous block from Rio.
Berba's getting the "Who Are Ya?" routine from the crowd now.
Now...a free kick for United after Ronaldo takes an audacious dive.
Another free kick, this time on the right, with Giggsy lining it up.
Tremendous save by Gomez, tipped onto the bar.
Into stoppage time now...
Full-time: No last minute heroics this weekend, so it's two dropped points for ManYoo after two points dropped for both Arsenal and Liverpool earlier. Who's that happy Portugeezer in West London then?
Sorry Guys... I wish I could be here.
I was a victim of ICE STORM '08
We lost power at 1 a.m. on Friday and got it back about 3 o'clock this afternoon.
THERE WAS NO WAY TO GET ANY SCORES UNTIL I WAS AT THE MALL AND FOUND A COMPUTER!!
Shame about my lot. Gomez plays blinder!!!
Still, glad to be warm, in the light and on the net!
Blimey! That sounds grim. I'm crossing my fingers that that doesn't strike Fredonia. We're cold but not that cold.
Stay warm, mate!
