Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Shearer Madness?

After all of the excitement of yesterday's triumphant qualifying wins, we need to double back and talk about the Premiership's big story - the appointment of Magpie hero Alan Shearer as the new manager at Newcastle United.

My two cents - a romantic figure is the last thing Newcastle need at this moment in which they need to pick up a minimum of eleven points from their eight remaining fixtures.

What say you?

Breaking news this afternoon: Shearer has announced that he has no plans to stay at St. James's beyond this summer. What do you think - has he just had a look at the Magpies's run in?

Can they actually do worse than Chris Hughton?
Joe Kinnear?

It is worth a shot in my book

Here are the Newcastle fixtures:

Chelsea at home
Stoke away
Spurs away
Pompey at home
Liverpool away
Boro at home
Fulham at home
Villa away

Where do the points come from? They need eleven - I see them getting seven at most.

As a veteran of many, many relegation battles, don't underestimate the ability of relegation zone teams to get results against the odds . . . Recall West Ham at Man United two years ago . .
