England Squad for Slovakia and Ukraine
Fabio Capello has announced his squad for the weekend's friendly at Wembley against Slovakia and, more importantly, next week's qualifier against Ukraine. Here it is in full:
Goalkeepers: David James (Portsmouth), Robert Green (West Ham United), Ben Foster (Manchester United)
Defenders: Leighton Baines (Everton), Phil Jagielka (Everton), Joleon Lescott (Everton), Ashley Cole (Chelsea), John Terry (Chelsea), Rio Ferdinand (Manchester United), Glen Johnson (Portsmouth), Matthew Upson (West Ham United), Ledley King (Tottenham Hotspur).
Midfielders: Gareth Barry (Aston Villa), Michael Carrick (Manchester United), Frank Lampard (Chelsea), Stewart Downing (Middlesbrough), David Beckham (AC Milan), Shaun Wright-Phillips (Manchester City), Aaron Lennon (Tottenham Hotspur), Steven Gerrad (Liverpool).
Forwards: Carlton Cole (West Ham United), Peter Crouch (Portsmouth), Emile Heskey (Aston Villa), Wayne Rooney (Manchester United)
Breaking news today is that Ledley King is out of the squad for injury (shock!). Your comments, gents?

Why wasn't Agbonlahor included in this squad? Injured? Seems characteristically light on forwards but otherwise about what you'd expect.
Yeah, Gabby Ag is injured, although Fabio is irritated with Martin O'Neill because he's on his way back into the Villa side.
Hold the presses! This morning's news out of Blighty has Don Fabio engaged in a bitter row with 'Arry Redknapp about Ledley King. Apparently Fabio wants him back in the squad and Redknapp won't release him. Stay tuned....
I am not impressed with the forward line.
Surely there could be better goal scorers in in the country!
Name them please?!
I've just had a look at the top Premiership goalscorers as of now:
Anelka 15 goals
Gerrard 13
Ronaldo 13
Crouch 11
Robinho 11
Gabby Ag 10
Bent 10
Davies 10
Lampard 10
Zaki 10
Cisse 9
Carlton Cole 9
Defoe 9
Roon 9
Torres 9
Van Persie 9
Adebayor 8
Berba 8
Kuyt 8
Owen 8
Taylor 8
Okay, then, Stevie G., Crouch, Lamps and Carlton Cole are all in the squad. Gabby Ag is injured or he's be in as well. The conspicuous absences are Darren Bent, who's been tried and Michael Owen, who's so fragile that a strong gale will injure him. Do you really want to test Kevin Davies at international level?
Bob's put his finger on it. England's has not been producing a clear choice of keeper for the England job, and now not enough strikers.
There are some English guys knocking around, but they aren't playing in the first team of any Premiership club.
We may be seeing the outer curve of what's to come: Namely, the population of England is just not going to consistently produce international quality players.
Rio's the only true international quality back we have. Terry is an empty suit, over-dependent on the much higher degree of player next to him. I predict that's the next area we start to see a marked drop in quality.
Oddly, though, center back is about the only position I feel completely comfortable with. When the ruckus around Ledley King came up this week, my first thought was, "Ledley King - isn't he about the fourth or fifth choice in the squad? Who bloody cares?!" It strikes me that after the first choice pairing of JT and Rio, we've got very adequate center back replacements in Joleon Lescott, Matthew Upson and even Phil Jagielka before we need to draft in wonky knees Ledley. You could even got outside the squad for Jonathan Woodgate for that matter.
Gooner's right - we need a "Fox in the Box."
My mum was English!!
Huh?
DUH, I could play up front!!
I could be the FOX IN THE BOX!!
Oh, I see. Well, fair enough. I'd definitely pick you before Darren Bent.
