Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

The teams for today:
Werder Bremen: Wiese, Fritz, Prodl, Naldo, Boenisch, Niemeyer, Frings, Baumann, Ozil, Pizarro, Rosenberg. Subs: Vander, Pasanen, Tosic, Vranjes, Hunt, Tziolis, Harnik.
Shakhtar Donetsk: Pyatov, Srna, Kucher, Chigrinsky, Rat, Lewandowski, Fernandinho, Ilsinho, Jadson, Willian, Luiz Adriano. Subs: Khudzamov, Duljaj, Gai, Gladkyy, Ischenko, Chyzhov, Moreno.
Werder are distinctly under-strength today. Their Brazilian playmaker Diego is out as is much of their first string defense.
Great ITV stream up through Atdhe.
And we're off!
Oh, Adriano should have scored there. The Brazilian triumvirate worked the chance well for him and Shakhtar should be 1-0 up.
Fernandinho is certainly creating some havoc on the right side.
Baumann had a half chance there from about ten yards out and should have hit the target.
Fritz did well to clear out there, but Shakhtar are looking positively explosive.
The crowd, which seems to be mostly Ukrainians over from the Sevastopol ferry, are whistling the negative Germans already.
That was a bizarre corner from Shakhtar. And Naldo seems to have picked up a knock.
William hacks Fritz and the Shakhtar man gets a bollocking from the ref. No card, though.
Bremen have re-invigorated Claudio Pizarro's career. He's scored 28 goals for them this year after a useless time at Chelski.
Fifteen minutes gone now. It's been reasonably bright and entertaining, but no goals as yet.
Werder are pressing a bit more now and have found their rhythm after weathering the first period of attack. Shakhtar for some reason are playing them very deep at the back.
Very scrappy play here. A furious pace for the past few minutes, very much like a Premiership match.
GOAL! Shakhtar have the lead through Luis Adriano. He was put through brilliantly and just flicked the ball up and over the keeper.
1-0 Shakhtar!
Oh, Adriano could have scored again. Should have a hat-trick at this point.
Half an hour in now. It's hard to see Werder out-scoring this lot. Shakhtar's defense anchored by my boy Radovan Rat seem more than capable of handling the static Pizarro.
Awkward landing there for Luiz Adriano and he looks in trouble. Shoulder problems.
Luiz Adriano's back on and looks okay to continue.
Werder have a useful free kick opportunity here.
GOAL! I spoke too soon. It's another Brazilian - Naldo - with a rocket that the Shakhtar keeper found too hot to handle. He's bobbled it right into the net somehow. What a howler!
The game's well set up now. Much better than last year's pathetic performance by Rangers against Zenit.
Fritz wins a corner. The momentum seems to have swung over to Werder for a moment. Will the keeper be able to bounce back from that horrible mistake?
Oh dear, the keeper was in trouble again against Pizarro. What a nightmare!
Five minutes left in the half. Now it's Shakhtar in a spot of bother.
Great save from Weise from a rocket from Lewandowski!
Ilsinho nearly goes into the book. The ref has been patient and we've been rewarded with a flowing match.
Just a minute to come. And finally the ref gives up on patience and books Torsten Frings.
I'm home now and we're into the second half. Still 1-1 in the 70th minute.
The commentators are complaining that the match has grown a bit pedestrian in the second half. So obviously I chose the right time to walk home.
And there's a cat on the pitch! Nice touch from the Istanbul crowd.
Inside the last ten minutes now. It smells like extra time to come for sure.
And Fritz becomes the fourth player to go into the book tonight.
Ilsinho has not been impressive tonight.
Just about into stoppage time now.
Oh dear, that was a tight offside call there and the cross was finished off by Pizarro. On the replay, he was well off.
Regular time is up and we'll be back for extra time in a moment.
Thirty minutes of extra time tedium to come here. It's the rare game that gets settled in extra time with teams not committing much forward.
Gladkyy did a nice job hitting one that bounced awkwardly but Weise did well again.
Fritz limps off to be replaced by Pasenen.
GOAL! Jadson latches onto a good cross but the keeper Wiese should have done better to get a stronger hand to that one.
2-1 Shakhtar!
Nearly at the half way mark in extra time.
Oh, Willian nearly killed off the match there, lobbing Wiese. As Bremen press for the equalizer, gaps will no doubt open up.
Half time of extra time.
So fifteen minutes to go in this last UEFA Cup final and Shakhtar are looking to become the first Ukrainian side to win a European final.
Jadson's down on the floor now wasting time.
Oh, nearly the equalizer there from Baumann.
Down to about five minutes now for Werder. Time's running out.
Nasty one there from Tziolis; he picks up the fifth yellow tonight.
That's it! Shakhtar have won their first major trophy. Does it represent a swing in European footie toward the Eastern bloc? We'll have to see in the seasons to come.
