Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

June 12th!

It's time to start talking about plans for the World Cup and specifically about June 12th. That's the Saturday afternoon when England kicks off its World Cup campaign against the US. Kick-off time is 2:30 pm EST. Sounds like a perfect opportunity to gather the LOB for a reunion. Any suggestions?

I'll be in Columbus ;)

FYI though, I am planning a trip to Fredonia in early October for a radio station reunion. I'll be drinking heavily in BJ's most of the weekend. Will keep you posted.

That sounds fabulous, Someone. I'll look forward to meeting up with you. Faculty are generally discouraged from darkening the door of BJ's and the other downtown drinking establishments but I'm sure I can make an exception.

Discouraged? Really? Times have changed.

Granted, it would have been weird to see my Sociology prof. on the bar dispensing shots though!

I'm leaning towards going to London for the first round. Dad actually said to me that after seeing you get your doctorate, and seeing Eric graduate from high school, we wants to live long enough for one more world cup!

So I'm going to wait until March, but my thinking is watching the first round in London.

BJ's stood for Black Jack's back in the day. Got shortened. It's been operating since probition ended. I used to DJ there in the in the late eighties. Great chicken wings too!

That's probably best. They'd get done for false advertising at the least.

I'm afraid the budget would not include a trip to London . . . Our Stoddert soccer league is scheduled to have game on Saturday, June 12th. . . I'm going to clear the decks for US v. England, but will probably be roped into hosting a soccer party for the kids . . . We are going to Isle of Palms, SC for an early beach trip June 19 - 26 . . . What about the round of 16 or quarters?
