Every Game Counts Now!
As we're rapidly approaching the business end of a long footie season with a little over a month to play, every game counts from here on in. Only two fixtures in the Premiership today but they're both key to the relegation battle. I'll have my eye on the promotion race in L1 and of course we have an FA Cup semi final between Chelski and Villa to round off the day. Join me for all the fun!

Only two predictions for today:
Hull City 2 Burnley 0
West Ham 1 Sunderland 0
Oh, and three points for the Whites please.
Great link up for Soccer Saturday:

Good morning Bob
Thanks of for the link.
It is going strong
Cheers
Best of luck against Southend!
Let's have a Colchester win and Gillingham as well
Celtic are losing in the Scottish FA Cup Semi Final 2-0 to ROSS COUNTY!!
Last minute or so
Ross County have beaten the mighty Celtic!!
What disastrous season for Celtic.
They are only single figure points ahead of the third place team
A huge and improbably upset victory for Ross County over Celtic in the Scots Cup semi final today. Wow!
Wonder what headline will be made for this match
Surely it can't be better than
Super Cally Go Ballistic Celtic are Atrocious
Let's come up with a good one!
Morning, Dave! Good to have you on board. Did you like your birthdate songs?
Come on Bob, use your journalistic training to come up with one you can email the Daily Mirror
Very much so
Thank you for looking it up. Do you have to be on Facebook to look it up?
If so, check out Kathy's birthday February 13, 1964
SS doing the story of Bert Troutman. Marvelous!
Will do - if my theory is correct about the Beatles visit to the U.S. starting on February 7, 1964 being the turning point for pop music, she'll likely have some good ones.
I would guess it is the Beatles.
They were on Ed Sulliavan Show 4 days earlier
I am off to the shower before the matches
Be back soon
I was right:
UK chart: The Searchers - Needles and Pins
US chart: The Beatles - I Want To Hold Your Hand.
I've got both on my iPod.
Big Nose Phil wants the fourth Prem spot for Pool rather than winning the Europa League. Ridiculous. That's what's wrong with football these days.
Bristol City and Swansea have kicked off in the Championship. No score yet.
Good morning everyone.A person does not have to be on facebook to look up his/her birthdate song. I found the same link by doing a google search. Blue Devil, the number 1 birthdate song on the UK charts for both my wife and myself was by the Beetles.Intersting as you had stated your Beetles theory. I am familiar with the songs on both birthdates.
Here's the L1 preview:
Top of the table Norwich are at home to the Dons. On 85, they're just about promoted. Second-placed Swindon are away to Colchester in the big game in the division today. I'd luv it if Colchester could get some points off them. Third placed Millwall host Gillingham - same thing there. Then we're at home to Southend who are mired in the dropzone. It is a must win, of course. Fifth placed Charlton are off today while Huddersfield have a tricky away match against Brentford. Should be fascinating.
Good to know - I knew that as a Facebook hold-out, Dave might need some help in looking it up. I'm sticking by my Beatles theory. It just seems as if that trip to the States in February 64 wiped the likes of Mel Torme and Perry Como off the charts forever.
Good to have you on board this morning, MUR!
A FINAL!!! ROSS COUNTY DEFEAT CELTIC 2-0 !!!
One of the greatest upsets in Scottish football. If Raith Rovers can defeat Dundee United in the other semi tomorrow then there will be an all second tier Scottish Cup Final.
Leeds fans have been begging Grayson to drop Jermaine Beckford on all the discussion pages that I've been reading this week. Yet, the gaffer has decided to keep the faith. He's up front with Max Gradel. It looks to be the same line-up that grabbed a slim win away to Yeovil earlier in the week.
Yes, condolences to Someone Said who is our lone SPL fan on the LOB. Tough break for The Hoops today but I'm sure even he's big enough to realize what a coup this is for wee Ross County.
Looks like FSC are setting up the Hull v. Burnley match.
I am back clean and shaven and ready for some footer
My paper still had Arsenal Spurs on ESPN2 this morning. I wonder if they had extra Bass fishing instead
Ross County emulates Gretna's run to the final about three or four years ago where there unfortunate to lose to Hearts in a penalty shootout. Berwick upset Rangers 1-0 in 1967. Jock Wallace who coincidentally managed Rangers in the 1970s kept goal for Berwick that day.
Good morning UWS.
Yup the sure to be a classic Hull vs Burnley
The Cup Semi is on at Noon. We don't get tomorrow's semi or the United match
Tomorrow is Citeh's match
Good morning UWS.
I am not sure why my comment posted twice. A Hull victory definitely helps Hull City's relegation chances depending upon the result at Upton Park. I don't see Burnley getting anything out of this match as they have ONE away point.
Good morning MUR
What a horrible past 10 days!
This is the turning point!
Top of the League tomorrow and stay there until the end of the season!
Bristol City 0 Swansea City 0 at halftime. Ross County upset Celtic in the Scottish Cup semis.
That was a long shower, Dave!
Did Kath like her birthdate #1's?
We posted about Celtic losing to Ross County earlier
I wanted Bob to come up with a headline as good as
Super Cally Go Ballistic Celtic are Atrocious
He hasn't come up with one yet... you?
We are so proud/we shout it out loud
We love you LEEDS LEEDS LEEDS!
Your headline is better than anything I could come up, mate.
Not too long.. that's what she said!
Kathy wasn't surprised.
Yes it has been a horrible ten days. The red card sure was a turning point in the match. I think the player's surrounding the referee influenced the referee. United would have been through with eleven players.
That wasn't my headline. That was the best headline of all time made by some bloke working late!
How boring is the Championship
Newcastle already promoted and WBA could go up today!
SO, what team along with WBA and the play off winner is going to go down next season
Bloody hell - Hull score within two minutes!
Goal at the KC Stadium... Hull 1 Burnley 0
Not good news for West Ham
I agree - the Championship won't be interesting until the Mighty Whites take their rightful place in the division in August.
Goal 1-0 HULL CITY. Richard Garcia with a header two minutes in. Just as I stated. Burnley will get nothing out of this match. Burnley concede another early goal.
I didn't have the TV control for that goal. I did turn it over after the goal but I know I will lose it
Is FSC behind SS?
So Hull leapfrog West Ham and the Irons are down in the dropzone. Our resident Hammer has a day of kiddie football to monitor so he won't be around sadly.
Craig Fagan wins a corner for Hull City.
Actually, FSC is slightly ahead of SS for a change. Right on time.
Grand National Day today
I may watch it on some link
Cambridge won the Boat Race last week
Wonderful Chris Kamara moment already today. He says in reference to last week's shenanigans, "One mistake and you've sent me to Watford!" Love him!
Classic by Chris K
"one mistake at Portsmouth and you send me to Watford"
Please help me
Jumble these letters
NAUCIV
So who's controlling the telly at your house, UWS? And what on earth are they watching?
I have it right now but they turn on Sports Center
I hate the rugby lines on the pitch
Hull are ahead of West Ham right now!
Classic C said " I thought he had been substituted. I didn't know he had been sent off." He's lucky he even has a job. He shouldn't complain about being sent to Watford.
Snoddy hits one wide of goal. Lively start for the good guys at Elland Road.
Bloody hell - the SS reporter says that Southend have settled the better. I do not like that.
"Away side settled the better" at Elland Road
Come on Leeds
Altidore wins a corner.A poor Jimmy Bullard corner is cleared.
The Toon take the lead
Le Tiss is yelling. Newcastle have scored. They're already up. Who cares?
still waiting for my jumble help
Come on you WHITES! Come on Colchester!
Come on Gillingham
Come on, UWS. Use those middle school classroom management techniques. Any time someone turns on Sportscenter, that's an immediate detention with possible extra chores around the house.
Cheers, lads! We need all the good mojo we can get. Today has to be a day to make up some points on the rivals.
Leeds "stepping up a bit" according to the SS reporter. Snoddy sounds lively. The Shrimpers' keeper is named Steve Mildenhall!
Last weekend was hopeless but this weekend will be completely different
Leeds will end up in the top two
United will end up in the top one
Chelsea will lose to Villa on penalties after a tough extra time period with Lamps, Terry and Drogs all going off hurt!
Gillingham the marginally better side at Millwall. Good to hear.
Still 0-0 at Upton Park. Watford's opponents today are Blue Devils's beloved Argyle.
Jesus - Burnley's center back has a massive head wound. Surely the ref will have to stop the match for him to have some treatment.
Duff in the wars for Burnley with a bloody face. Surely he must be off for treatment soon. He collides with Leon Cort.
Nasty clash of heads between the two Burnley defenders.
Still waiting for help you plonkers
Southend keeper Steve Mildenhall makes a good save to keep out a cross-cum-shot from Leeds winger Robert Snodgrass.
I can't multitask like you, Dave. All of my brain power is busy kicking the ball at Elland Road.
Burnley were 3-0 down this time last week. An improvement this week as they win a free kick. Duff with a bandage around his head.
Jeff Stelling is giving me heart palpitations by constantly going to Elland Road for reports. I keep expecting a goal but we're just getting close.
Norwich losing
Norwich are behind to the Dons. Interesting but it doesn't really affect us.
Doesn't matter though
They always win anyway AND they are too far ahead
Colchester the better team
Swindon sound like they're on top of things. Shame that.
I though he said Colchester were on top
Stockport will be relegated today and they've just conceded to Yeovil. They're at home too. Could be a really sad day there.
YES!!!
Colchester are winning!
Yes! That's more like it. Well done, Colchester.
My predictions for this weekend is coming true
That places Millwall in 2nd on GD, a point above us.
Hull City with a barrage in the Burnley penalty area. They have a free kick about twenty yards out. Bullard well over with the free kick.
Come on Gillingham. They will be up for this as they make the short journey to the New Den.
That was interesting. SS went off for a commercial break and then came straight back without any ads.
Just lost the TV again
Doesn't really matter
I am following the computer more than the TV anyway
All four shots on goal from Snoddy. All saved by Mildenhall so far.
Goal at Millwall
Millwall take the lead!!
BUGGER
Bugger! Millwall take the lead. That puts them up to 78 points and they've got the edge on us in terms of GD too.
Oh - Jozy one on one with Jensen there but Jensen stands up well.
Cambridge take the lead at Salisbury
Altidore with a shot well saved by Jnesen and Bullard blasts the rebound over.
WBA go 0-1 up - they're going up. Who cares?
Jozy should have scored.
Oh - JB with a header just wide of goal. We need a goal! Come on!
Jeff still giving Chris K. some stick about last weekend.
Chris has spotted everything at Vicarage Road!
I just noticed that. Only six throw-ins and two corners I'm surprised he didn't miss anything.
GOAL! Burnley equalize. Nice little turn and shot.
1-1!
Burnley have tied it up
Good news for Johnny
That is my type of finish
The Toon are two up
Ex-Leeds boy Ian Harte has scored his 17th of the season for Carlisle!
The Jumble could be UNIVAC.
GOAL 1-1 . Patterson scores after some nice work by Tyrone Mears. All that Hull domination has gone to waste. Great news for the Hammers.
Thank you!
At least someone cares
Oh dear - Millwall are 2-0 up now. The Gills are not getting the job done at the New Den.
Millwall two up!
NO ONE wants them to go up!
Great finish by Martin Patterson and ball watching by the Hull City defense.
They go up, West Ham go down... yikes for next season!!
Sotton take the lead against Charlton
Nice! The Saints have taken the lead at St. Mary's against Charlton. They drop to 74 points, one point behind us now.
UWS, it's just a matter of priorities.
Not sure about the six brides leaving the stadium. I guess its not relevant to the match.
Oh dear - Jozy kicks the ball away in anger and picks up a yellow card. He can't do that for the US this summer.
Morning, Bivalve! Trust you to be in there with the Word Scramble answer. All I had was the Prince-like:
U Can Vi!
Good morning Bivalve. Well done with the word search.
Two-goal Richard Naylor sticks a header just over the bar at Elland Road. Close again but still 0-0.
Just because it's a viable guess doesn't mean it's right. Does it work out, UWS?
Any crossword questions for us, Dave? Or are you done with that already?
Steve Mildenhall has played in League One for many years. I believe his stops include Swindon and Notts County, But not Mildenhall Town.
Not good omens for us right now. We've had this pattern of starting with loads of missed chances and then conceding a key goal on the other side of half-time. That cannot happen today.
The Baggies are 0-2 up and they're going up.
Not sure, trying to work out the rest of the puzzle
Half time at the KC Stadium. 1-1. That doesn't help either side. It helps West Ham, particularly if the Hammers can win today. They had a penalty appeal that was denied.
Goalless at half time at Elland Road
What is going on???
Half-time at Elland Road. 0-0. I'm off to do the Leeds United Calypso.
Halftime at the KC Stadium and level at 1-1. All to play for in the second half for The Hammers and the Tigers. I need to take Melanie to piano practice. I should be back for the first half of the Cup Semi. Cheers Blue Devil, UWS , and Bivalve.
Take Care MUR
Cheerio, MUR!
Right, you lot. Here's one that stumping me from last weekend's NYTimes Sunday puzzle:
Navigator William with a sea named after him (five letters).
Ross County will take on Dundee United or Raith Rovers!
Dundee United are third in the Premier League but Raith is seventh in Division 1
Ross would favorites!!
YOU NEVER HELPED ME!!
Are you shirtless?
Second half is underway at Elland Road. No changes that I can see yet. This is a key 45 minutes - we need a goal right at the beginning of the half to settle the nerves.
Forest take the lead against the Tractor Roys
Nope - I'm keeping the faith with the lucky Leeds shirt today.
Any letters to help, Blue Devil?
Same time Forest take the lead.... County take the lead
Good minute for Nottingham
Yes... West Ham have scored!
West Ham are 1-0 up! Cole sets up Ilan. Huge goal.
That goal could relegate Pompey, unfortunately.
Unfortunately not, Bivalve. Any ideas?
Oldham are 1-0 up over Bristol Rovers. Doesn't really matter.
Swindon are still trailing but sound like they're on top. I'd be reasonably happy with a draw there.
What is the shirt situation?
Leeds have been wasteful, according to the SS reporter, particularly JB. If I were Grayson, I might take him off at a certain point. He probably needs to be dropped.
Still on, mate. Still on. Keeping the faith, kissing the badge.
I know, I know. But it worked on Monday morning. Keeping the faith.
Goal at Vicarage Road... did Chris see it?
He didn't say it was 'unbelievable'!!
Forest two up against Town
Cambridge have been pegged back
Timor and Banda are possibilities.
I can't believe that Norwich are still 0-1 down at Carrow Road to the Dons.
Leeds time!
Thanks, Bivalve. I'll pencil in "Timor." That looks more likely to work going down.
ONLY JUST!!!
The Toon are three up
Is this the Championship?
Goal at Elland Road
YES!!!!!!!!!!!
The YANK!
YESSSSSS!!!!!!!!!
Max Gradel with the goal. 1-0 Leeds!
Maxy's fourth goal of the season. And a priceless one there.
Penalty for Burnley... goal!
Burnley get a penalty!
Alexander to take....
Cheeky one with the inside of the right boot into the right corner.
Burnley 2-1 up!
Got to sign off, blokes. Enjoy the day!
We need a second goal to be comfortable. I reckon that Grayson should make a few changes now.
All the talk of Rochdale being promoted for the first time since 1969... they're losing FOUR NIL
Have a great weekend, Bivalve. Talk to you soon!
Wembley News

Your mate Neil Warnock's QPR putting the boot to the groin to his old team
Nice move from Grayson. He's replaced Beckford with Becchio. I think that's needed. JB hasn't been producing.
Hull have given away another penalty to Burnley! Blimey!
Alexander has another chance....
Another one with the outside the right boot and it's in the top of the net. Great skill!
3-1 Burnley
Millwall are 3-0 up and away. No catching them today then. Still, I like the look of the table now more than this morning. We're one point off that second spot again with a match against Brentford to come on Tuesday.
Struth
Millwall are four up
Do they have any tough games to go?
How many games are left in that division?
Colchester double their lead against Swindon
YES! Colchester are 2-0 up against Swindon!
Huddersfield losing. Does it matter?
ALL the scores apart from at the New Den are brilliant so far
Five matches to play in L1 after today, including those mid-week fixtures. Millwall have Huddersfield away on Friday and a big, big one on the final day of the season - home to Swindon.
All the pressure still on Southend's goal at Elland Road. We need a second goal. Come on!
Good
Millwall have some tough games
Leeds?
Well, a loss from Huddersfield give Colchester added incentive to do well against Millwall next weekend. They're level with Huddersfield on points in 7th now.
Right now it is
Norwich 85
Millwall 78
Leeds 77
Swindon 76
Charlton 74
Huddersfield 69
Colchester 68
Forest 3 up
Our only tough match left is away to Charlton. Otherwise it's away to Carlisle, away to Gillingham, home to the Dons and home to Bristol Rover on the last day of the season.
Newcastle need four points to be Champions
13 shots to 2 for us at ER. Total domination. We need a security goal, though. I'm still nervous.
Fifteen minutes left at ER. Squeaky bum time.
Newcastle and WBA will both be up today
Forest are guaranteed a play off place too
Pompey to be relegated
Oh dear - Jozy misses a sitter at the backpost. That's not good.
Forest, Cardiff, Leicester and Swansea are in the playoffs!
Blackpool, Boro and Bristol City close
