Leeds Visit Yeovil Town!
After Saturday's travesty, I honestly have no idea what to expect from today's match. Will Leeds continue the slump? Or turn it around? We still have a decent chance of promotion but Grayson's men have to stop the rot beginning this morning if they're going to do it. Join me if you're up and around this morning.

There's one great Veetle stream for the match through P2P:

Leeds:
12. Shane Higgs
26. Leigh Bromby
33. Neill Collins
6. Richard Naylor
22. Andy Hughes
14. Jonathan Howson
4. Michael Doyle
8. Neil Kilkenny
23. Robert Snodgrass
9. Jermaine Beckford
28. Max Gradel
A lot of the chatter on the discussion boards over the weekend was that Grayson needed to drop out of form striker Jermaine Beckford, but the gaffer has kept the faith with our top scorer. I hope JB returns the confidence with a hat-trick today.
Teams coming out of the tunnel to huge applause from the home support. This should be a cracker!
Leeds have beaten Yeovil 4-0 the last two times we've met them; would love that scoreline again today.
Yeovil Town get us underway with Garry Mann and Gary Birtles doing the commentary.
Gary Mann is absolutely right. This is more of a matter of psychology than ability. This same group of players ripped up the league earlier in the season. We need to rediscover the winning way. And that starts today.
An unconvincing start for Shane Higgs, giving up a corner when he should have caught it.
All the pressure coming from Yeovil now.
Nice turn from JB and he earns a free kick for us.
Wasted....
Now we're starting to spread it about.
Bromby's got to start putting some decent balls over.
Oh - Snoddy ghosts into the box and tries a little dink over the keeper. Close.
They need to stop talking about the CL semi-final with Valencia in 2001. That's nearly ten years ago now and we're just a L1 side trying to get promotion.
Promising attack through Gradel but the final ball only earns a corner.
Good morning Bob
I am here and behind your lot 100%
The crosses just aren't good enough yet.
Snoddy rips one! Keeper saved well.
Cheers, mate. I thought I might be holding a lonely vigil here this morning. Are you off today?
Off all week!!!
Magic!
Shut up, Birtles!
I have this link going well
http://www.justin.tv/rumbade#r=4T1xzqE~
Oh - Gradel nearly in on goal there. Yeovil's keeper was lucky.
My Veetle link is crisp and clear but thanks anyway.
Bloody hell! That was close for Yeovil. Route 1 but effective.
JB nearly in - this one's starting to open up a bit.
How old is their manager - 14?
15
We're playing reasonably well but haven't created any clear-cut chances yet in nearly half an hour.
Actually they mentioned earlier that he's the youngest manager in the division at 37 and the only player-manager in the division, although he hasn't played this season due to injury. Still - he looks like a kid!
I can see what's going on. We're so used to playing everything through JB and he just can't be bothered right now.
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ONE NIL!!
LUCKY BUGGER BUT WHO CARES!
Shouldn't that be a card. JB was clean through if Snoddy released him and was pulled back.
First goal since March 9th!!!
YYESSSSSS!!!!!!!!!
Naylor with a looping header at the backpost for our first goal in nearly seven hours of play.
0-1 Leeds!
ooh, almost two!
That's the big center back's first goal of the season and it provokes a sing-song of "We're Going Up" from the big contingent in the crowd.
Back into second?
Beckford hits one wide!
Oh - Gradel played it back well to JB and the striker was errant in his finish.
Yes - back into second ahead of the other fixtures today. We're a point clear of Swindon on 73 now. Millwall on 72 in third.
Millwall are currently at 0-0 with Colchester in the big game in the division this morning.
Oh - nice effort from Gradel with his left peg. Saved by the tubby Yeovil keeper.
NAYLOR SCORES A SECOND!!!!
THE TIDE HAS TURNED!
Great header!
YESSSSSSSSSSSS!
Naylor again! A rocket header from the corner.
0-2!
Notice that JB was trying to get a cheeky striker's last touch on that one as it was heading over the line.
We need to keep going now in order to build up the goal difference again. During our slump we'd allowed the likes of Millwall to catch us on goals.
That's what I'd heard to during the slump - that the team was always playing well but didn't have the confidence to finish the job, especially in that away game at Carrow Road.
Catch you up!!
YOU GUYS HADN'T SCORED SINCE MARCH 9!!
Is Becchio okay after being kicked unconscious recently?
Just lost my link!
No way that JB would give up a penalty chance to Naylor, even if he is on a hat-trick. He's a greedy beggar.
He's not on the bench today, so I'm going to guess not.
Almost a booking now for the goalscorer after he hauls down the Yeovil striker.
Blow up, ref. I want half-time to come now so that we can regroup.
Oh - good turn and cross from Gradel but no one home.
Naylor comes up again for the corner looking for the hat-trick.
I have your Veetle link.
Much better commentators. The other ones were amateur hour
Yeah - it's your old friend Gary Birtles doing the color.
Still 0-0 between Millwall and Colchester. I'd be happy with that score.
Half-time then. I'm certainly breathing a lot easier. It takes the pressure off but it's only half the job done. We need more goals.
Half way there.
Good start to the week
Let's follow it up with a good end to this match all the scores going your way later today
The Millwall game has started?
I though this was the only early game
You're right
22 minutes in at London Road
Yeah - I didn't notice the kick-off time either until a moment ago. It must have started at 8 am EST. About half an hour gone at London Rd. now. Still 0-0.
Teams back out at Yewish (sp?) Park. More of the same, please.
Blimey - only a month left of the season.
Collins nearly in there from the long throw.
Good morning UWS and Blue Devil.
Naylor up again for the corner. Nearly.
Morning, MUR! I'm a happy chappy again.
Their striker Kalala could be Michael Essien long lost twin.
Oh - Collins into the mix again. A header from point blank range saved by the tubby keeper.
Oh - Naylor got onto that cross once again to set up Gradel who tried something acrobatic.
Still 0-0 at London Rd. Must be close to half-time there.
Oh - great effort from Snoddy, tipped over by the tubby keeper.
Naylor with another header from the resulting corner! Cleared off the line!
Still Yeovil 0 Leeds 2 at Huish Park A draw would be a perfect result between Colchester and Millwall. I will be here for about 30 minutes. I am on the VSS link.
Cheers, MUR for the update.
Gradel! Nearly there. Off the line again.
Half an hour left. I'd like another goal for the security and the goal difference.
The Yeovil goal is under siege now. Just hooked away from danger.
JB peels away but is caught offside. He hasn't really featured today. Still in his funk.
Bugger. Yeovil get a free kick in a dangerous area. Hang in there, lads.
Hey Bob
Sorry I haven't been around
I was on the phone with sister Lisa
Did I tell you that she has been diagnosed with a brain aneurism. She has blacked out a couple of times. They are either going to do major surgery or key hole. They still have decided!
Millwall are one up at half
BUGGGGERRRR!
1-2 Not good. Come on, you Whites!
Sorry to hear about Lisa's condition, Dave. I'll be thinking of her. Hope it's a relatively simple procedure.
Still about 24 minutes to go!
Leeds need to score or it will become itchy bum time
Yeovil pull one back. Yeovil 1 Leeds 2 Still Colchester 0 Millwall 1. Leeds need to win as Swindon host Tranmere later this morning and should win.
Hope so too
That Millwall goal pushes us back into third, a point behind Millwall.
Dave I am very sorry about Lisa. She will be in my thoughts. Wishing her the best.
Just over twenty minutes now. Keep your heads up. We should have put this lot away earlier in the half. Their tails are up now.
Warning... I am off to the loo and things normally happen when I am in the loo
JB needs to stop whinging and get on with it.
Thanks for the announcement, Dave. I'll be picturing you in the bog now. I need to clear that image out of my mind.
Gradel's been our best player today. He's really caused them problems all afternoon.
JB ran into trouble rather than feeding Snoddy there. I'm not happy with him at all.
Mickey Doyle with nearly a fatal failed clearance there. Jesus!
Snoddy wins a free kick. That will help restore the faith. It'll be the Scot over this one too.
No it's Gradel instead. Horrible striker well over. Cleared the small stand and bothered the dogs walking behind the car park.
Free kick from Gradel well over. Leeds still hanging on. Come on you whites.
Phew, nothing happened at the wrong end
less than 15 to go
Our teaching staff could occupy the entire stand behind the goal. The students would occupy two other stands.
Good defending from Collins. But the corner is only just scrambled away. Come on!
STRUTH!!
That was close from the corner
Second corner comes to nothing
I love that. The ball's played to Howson and the entire Leeds traveling section yells out - "Man on!"
I'm not enjoying this now.
A reprieve for Leeds as a Yeovil player is flagged offside. Yeovil more of an attacking threat this half.
Still 1-0 at London Road. I'd luv a Colchester goal right about now.
Down to the last ten minutes now. Hang in there, lads!
Yes! Kevin Lisbie has equalized for Colchester. 1-1 now. Great news!
JB picks up a booking for tugging the shirt back after having lost the ball.
Leeds living dangerously as a yeovil free kick causes problems in the box before being cleared. On the counter Beckford is dispossesed then booked for a foul.
They're just whacking it away anywhere now.
Good news from Colchester
Now we need Tranmere to play like they did against Champions Elect
5 to go at Yeovil
Excellent new from Colchester. Hopefully Tranmere can defeat Swindon.
Less than five minutes. Hang in there!
BTW, what happened to your Casper the Ghost keeper?
We're really under the cosh now. There's no reason for this.
What kind of pass was that!!
Well, Grayson has always preferred Shane Higgs this season but he was out for a thigh strain for a long time.
30 minutes to go at London Road
I'm not hearing much from the Leeds section now. They're all holding their breath.
Two changes now. Bradley Johnson and some kid from the Arse academy Sanchez Watt. Never heard of him!
JB trots off after another less than impressive performance. If he keeps this up, who's going to buy him in the summer?
Beckford being replaced as Leeds hang on for a much needed victory.
one minute plus stoppages
I am here for you Bob
Almost into stoppage time now.
FOUR added minutes
Four minutes of stoppage time. Where did those come from?
JB
Hopefully no one....he can score for Leeds in the Championship!
Yeovil... throw you keeper up front!
Leeds for an empty netter
Really jittery stuff from Higgs and the back four.
2 to go
phew, there was a chance for a lob there... thankfully hit it high and long
Only about a minute left now....
1
Just win baby just win
30 seconds and a throw in
Take 20 to take it
Blow up ref!
He is!
in the book
He could add more time for that... not smart
Bromby picks up a yellow for time wasting at the throw. Ridiculous!
the four is up
Blow up
Ball in the perfect place
YES!!!
Well done mate!
The tide has turned!
Keep the score the same in Colchester please and COME ON TRANMERE!
Phew! 1-2 in the end. Three points but not at all convincing toward the end.
Are we back? Not sure yet, but it's a priceless victory today.
I am off for some errands.
Be back from time to time for the rest of the matches
Up to second
Phew. What a relief. Leeds make hard work of this match, but hang on for a 2-1 victory. Come on Tranmere. I am off to run some errands.
Still 1-1 at London Road. I'm off for a shower.
Bugger! An own goal from Colchester substitute Danny Batth gives Millwall a 2-1 lead at Layer Road with just 12 minutes to go. The Lions now reoccupy second place unless Colchester can grab a second equaliser.
Sorry about Millwall
into the 90th minute
It's over
It's okay that Colchester lost
At least you are 9 points safe for the play offs
Time's almost up at London Road. Millwall still with the 1-2 edge.
Absolutely, Dave. We did what we needed to today...barely.
Now it's the Shrimpers at Elland Road on Saturday.
Now on to the 10 am EST kickoffs:
Just thought I'd run a few scenarios past you from the Championship before the action kicks off. Peterborough will be relegated if they fail to beat Barnsley, while West Brom will be promoted to the Premier League if they beat Watford, and Nottingham Forest fail to beat Cardiff. Newcastle, who face Sheffield United in the evening kick-off, will also go up if Forest don't defeat the Bluebirds.
The 10 am kick-offs have started and interestingly we're still in 3rd place tied for points with Swindon, who obviously still have an inferior GD to us.
Norwich have already taken the lead against bottom of the table Stockport County.
Orient have taken an away lead against the Saints.
Hello Blue Devil.I am back for the first half.Which match are you viewing?
If Forest win then Newcastle need a draw in the late match to clinch promotion.
Bugger. Swindon take the lead against Tranmere. 1-0. Peterborugh take an early lead at Barnsley only for the hosts to equalize two minutes later.
Level at Carrow Road . Norwich 1 Stockport 1
Swindon 1-0 up now. Down to fourth again.
I'm off to work now, MUR. I'll catch up with the scores when I get there. Not really looking that good right now.
Swindon are two up
And Tranmere are now down to ten men after Terry Gornell was dismissed for stamping.
I'm over at work now, following the action with half an eye. Not looking good for us.
Norwich are 2-1 up now.
Ex-Leeds man Sam Sodje heads Charlton into a 1-0 lead against Carlisle.
More bad news. Charlton now level with us on 74 points, behind on GD.
Into the second half of the regularly scheduled Easter Monday matches and there's no good news for Leeds fans. The top five sides are all leading or have already won today. Our west Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield - who are licking their lips at the prospect of a big play-off tie - are the only ones not playing today so they're still in 6th. Colchester in 7th lost to Millwall earlier.
As things stand Peterborough are relegated and they look unlikely to score a winner at Barnsley.
A while back, I predicted the three P's in the Championship - Posh, Plymouth, and Palace - would be relegated.
About 15 minutes left. Here are the key scorelines:
Charlton 1 Carlisle 0
Norwich 2 Stockport 1
Swindon 3 Tranmere 0
All the yack in the tabloids this morning is that Fergie may rush Roon back for the return leg with Bayern on Wednesday! Unbelievable. If he gets crocked and misses the WC because of that nonsense, I'll never forgive Ferg.
Wrap him up in cotton wool now until June 12, please.
A nice goal for either Carlisle or Stockport right about now would do the trick. Ta.
Less than 10 minutes now.
Full-time then. As it stands now, here is the Division 1 table:
1. Norwich - Played 40 (85 pts) +39
2. Swindon - Played 40 (76 pts) +19
3. Millwall - Played 40 (75 pts) +30
4. Leeds - Played 40 (74 pts) +28
5. Charlton - Played 40 (74 pts) +21
6. Huddersfield - Played 39 (65) +19
Six games to play. Couldn't be tighter.
Hello Blue Devil.Leeds had to win today as Swindon,Millwall, and Charlton were victorious. Do Huddersfield play tomorrow?
Leeds and their promotion rivals all won by an identical one goal margin, so goal difference remains unchanged.
Huddersfield host Oldham tomorrow. Come on you Latics.Forest V Cardiff to kick off in about ten minutes.
Peterborough are relegated after a 2-2 draw at Barnsley. They would have been relegated even if they had won since Palace beat Preston 3-1. Wednesday now in the drop zone as they lose 0-1 at home to Bristol City and Palace defeat Preston.
Watford 1 WBA 0. A surprise result. This was a vital win as Watford aim to avoid relegation. West Brom's promotion delayed . Plymouth 0 Middlesboro 1. Not looking good for Argyle as their result combined with Palace and Watford's victories put a major dent in Argyle's survival hopes.
My English exchange students from the University of Plymouth won't be happy with that Argyle result today. One of them sells programs at Home Park. If they go down, Argyle may well go bust this season. If so, we'll have Paul Mariner back at the Revolution, please.
A few updates/ corrections.
Watford did not defeat WBA. Chris Bunt scored an equalizer in the FIFTH minute of stoppage time to earn the Baggies a 1-1 draw. This helps Argyle who are four points from safety.
A latest score Forest 0 Cardiff 0 in the 56th minute. If this score remains unchanged then Newcastle are promoted before they play Sheffield United.
Forest 0 Cardiff 0 in the 64th minute. As things stand, WBA are one win away from clinching promotion. There should be an incredible atmosphere at St. James Park, as if the Newcastle fans need an excuse to be loud.
Still Forest 0 Cardiff City 0 in the 84th minute. Newcastle United fans waiting impatiently for the final whistle.
Forest 0 Cardiff City 0 a final
Newcastle United have clinched promotion the the EPL. Congratulations Newcastle United. There should be a part atmosphere at St. James Park as the kick off against Sheffield United in approximately thirty minutes.
I'm very happy to see the Magpies back up in the top flight where they belong but I have a sneaking suspicion that Chris Hughton will have his hands full trying to keep them up.
Newcastle's survival hopes will be based upon their results against teams in the lower half of the table. A perfect example is Stoke City who will finish in a comfortable mid-table position because they consistently beat the relegation strugglers. It is rare to see Stoke City drop any points against the lower placed teams. I believe that Newcastle will find a way to survive.
Congratulations The Toon!
I think they will be upper half of the table with no problems at all
