Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

I'm really impressed by the look of this new Red Bulls stadium. It's probably a wee bit bigger than they can fill for a run of the mill match, but it is rocking and rolling with plenty of noise tonight. And what a joy to see the Red Bulls playing on real grass for a change.
Every year this league seems to get better. It's clear that American fans are starting to learn the lore of the match. I remember that when we started in 96, most fans didn't have a clue how to interact with the match. Now I'm hearing the Red Bulls fans baiting the Chicago keeper and singing the now-iconic "Seven Nation Army" theme. Impressive!
The Red Bulls are 1-0 up in the second half here through a Juan Pablo Angel goal, but the Fire with Brian McBride up front are knocking on the door.
Old Man McBride is finally withdrawn from the action. Down to about ten minutes for the Fire.
Just about done here at Red Bull Stadium and it looks like an opening win for NY. My mistake - it was Limper with the winning goal here.
Red Bulls take it 1-0. Next up - tonight's double header on FSC.
San Jose v. RSL first.
Voom! Pick that one out. It's the first goal of the season for MLS champs Real Salt Lake and it's a beauty.
Javier Morales picks out a volley from about thirty yards and it flies past the prone Earthquakes keeper.
0-1 RSL!
Real double their lead. Morales sent Espindola through and the Argentine delicately chipped the keeper. They're good for their lead.
0-2 RSL!
Half time in San Jose and RSL are romping it at the moment. 0-2 RSL.
Well, there's a turn up! It's Goldenballs crutching his way into the Home Depot Center for tonight's match. I suppose that now that he's crocked, he'll deign to spend some time with his team in LA.
Second half starting up at San Jose.
I'm just noticed that SJ are sporting a new sponsor in Amway products. That's a wee bit sketchy.
It's just got worse for San Jose. Red card for Chris Leitch for a professional foul. Nearly a penalty too. Just a free kick right outside the box.
Wallop! Morales steps up and piledrives one into the top of the net. Cannon didn't have a chance.
0-3 RSL!
Full time at SJ - Great night for Jason Kreis and the Salt Lakers. The MLS champs are off and rolling in the new season with a 0-3 loss.
And now on to the main event - my Revvie boys up against Landycakes and his Galaxy crew.
Here's the line-up for the Revs:
Burpo, Alston, Osei, Gibbs, Snovic, Nyassi, Dube and two others I've never heard.
A new look Revs is an understatement.
Kick off time!
I wonder if this MLS action is in high definition? They only mention it every five seconds.
The Revs are settling early into a defensive posture. It doesn't really help us that we always start with a lengthy road trip as Foxboro is too bloody cold this time of year for people to sit outside and watch a match.
GOAL! Well, that didn't take long. The Galaxy take the lead from a free kick chipped onto Edson Buddle's noggin. Gibbs completely missed the header.
1-0 Galaxy
Alright, the Galaxy have some bloke named Juninho in midfield. He's a bit wee so he's not the Juninho Pernambocana dude that played at Lyon. So is he the wee man who played at Boro Juninho Paulista? Or some fake MLS Juninho? My bet is on the latter.
If this doesn't improve in the next ten minutes, I'm switching over to SNL, even if it's a re-run with Lady Gaga or summit.
Bruce Arena, looking somewhat wistful, as if he's watching a cracking production of La Boheme at the Met. I wonder what's on his mind?
I win MLS Bingo as Christopher Sullivan mentions Mauricio Cienfuegos some 11 minutes into the broadcast.
Good crowd noise here at the Home Depot Center with a bit of drumming in the background. Have I been asleep on this development or have MLS fans been taking lessons during the off season?
And now here's another decent chance for LA from a free kick. Alston is getting completely punked by the LA attack.
Well - that's quite enough for me for the time being. I may check in from time to time but I'll be back in the morning with a fresh perspective for the Liverpool v. Sunderland match.
We went down miserably 4-0, could have been more to KC. Not an auspicious start.
