A Later Start....
We get a well-deserved extra hour of sleep this morning due the the UK's tardiness in switching back from daylight savings. So, it's Villa v. Wolves at 8:45 am on ESPN followed by the regular kick-offs at 11 and finally Arsenal and West Ham at the late, late time of 1:30 pm. Join me for all the usual LOB chatter.

My predictions for today:
Villa 2 Wolves 0
Everton 2 Bolton 0
Pompey 1 Hull 0
Stoke 1 Spurs 3
Sunderland 1 Brum 1
Wigan 1 Burnley 0
Arsenal 2 West Ham 0
I need some points!
I've gained my usual Saturday pointers on bass fishing and now the ESPN coverage of the Villa v. Wolves match has started with Adrian, Robbie and the Auld Onion Bag in the studio.
I've got SS up on VSS.net - good start to the morning so far.
Teams coming out at Villa Park....
Wolves get us underway, then. Big Emile Ivanhoe Heskey in for the injured Gabby Ag for the Villans.
The SS lads are reading the Chelski post-mortem after Tuesday's result. I'm surprised. Sure, they got knocked out of the CL at the Round of 16, but they've still got plenty to play for this season. After all, if Chelski win the domestic double - my prediction - is anyone going to be feeling sorry for them?
Hey Bob,
I am here. I have the game on ESPN and SS through good old Justin!
I just sent you a link that Debs sent me.
It is Smithy on the the BBC Sports Personality of the Year
Lovely ball over from Carew and Warnock only needed a toe on it for 1-0.
Morning, Dave - thanks for the link. I'll enjoy that at half-time of this match.
Your lot play Monday?
Big Nose Phil not happy with Jeff saying Costa will not win the league
Fairly obvious what Mick McCarthy's game plan for the day is, with only the lonely Kevin Doyle up front. He'd be delighted with a point that would take them on to 28 points.
Yeah - we're up against Millwall on Monday at 3:45 pm. I'll miss most of it because of my class, unfortunately.
You'd have to think that it's a good chance for Villa this weekend. I expect them to win here today, while Spurs have a tricky away fixture at the Britannia and Liverpool have you lot. What about Citeh?
I'll be here rooting them on
Big Nose Phil has just predicted that Liverpool will win all of their last matches! Someone in the studio coughed in derision. I reckon Phil's been nipping at the sherry during the breaks. He's out of his mind!
Couldn't have put it better!!
You never commented on the CL Draw
What do you think?
Villa score!!
Carew with the goal
GOAL! John Carew taps in Villa's opener after a neat move down the left hand side. Ashley Young did most of the heavy lifting and squared a great ball to Carew to knock in.
1-0 Villa!
Sorry - I thought it had all been said. Obviously Arsenal got the short straw drawing Barca. I'm happy that the two French sides drew each other but they won't be. You lot have to be relatively happy.
It was an absolute RED card for Stevie G on Monday
After all that blather about Pool's run in, Big Nose predicts a 1-1 draw!
I didn't catch the Stevie G. incident on Monday.
Yes I am!
As for Phil T..... didn't he say that Costa would win all their games? He predicted a draw!
Gooner loyalist thinks Arsenal can take Barca. It's a morning of homers on SS. You can see why they don't allow the old boys to comment on their own teams live, eh?
But he'd said that "they could." And then he predicted a draw. What kind of talk is that!
That Villa goal pushes them up level with Spurs for that last vital CL spot, just behind them on GD.
I think that Arsenal have a chance against Barca
Wolves tie it up!
GOAL! Villa switched off at the free kick and several Wolves players could have scored. Jamie Craddock finally does stick it in.
It's 1-1!
I do too, but they're going to have to tell Song to get inside Messi's shorts. They were letting him run about for fun on Wednesday.
Merson thinks the Are will win by 8!!
The SS lads are predicting that Zola will field a weakened side today against the Arse in order to save players for the vital match with Wolves in mid-week. Merse predicts 6 or 7-0!
Half an hour gone and Deadly Doug Ellis doesn't look pleased about the scoreline. This was supposed to be an easy three points but Wolves are scrapping for everything.
GOAL! Blimey - Wolves lead at Villa Park! David Jones scrambles a jammy one across the line. Or is it an own goal from Leeds old boy Jamie Milner?
It's 1-2 Wolves!
Struth.. Wolves are in the lead
Not good news for the Hammers
Great news for Costa
Oh dear - Downing should have made it 2-2. His header was straight into the turf.
A win here for Wolves and you'd have to predict their safety, wouldn't you. 30 points and still 9 matches to play. Surely, they'd be safe. Puts a lot of pressure on the Hammers. They'd need a point today and three points against Wolves in mid-week.
They're debating the Ian Dowie appointment at Hull. I was surprised. Ian's definitely a relegation expert but for all the wrong reasons!
That's a fascinating match for today - Pompey v. Hull. What's the morale like at those two clubs? I reckon the pressure's off Pompey now since they're doomed. But do they play naturally or do they not care? And what about Hull? Do they play for the new boss? Or are they pining for Phil Brown? Impossible to predict but I've predicted a slim Pompey win.
Half-time: A real shock on the cards here. Wolves have scrapped their way to an improbably 1-2 lead at the interval.
I don't know what you guys had against Phil Brown1
I am off to have some coffee on the front porch
Take a look at the video!
I've had a look at the "Smithy" piece at half-time. Magic stuff. I particularly liked the diving sequence, where he does a Cannonball and then gives the proper diver a bollocking.
Worst bit - Becks, of course. Should be in training with the Galaxy, not larking about on British telly.
Let me count the ways that I hate Phil Brown:
1. Fake tan
2. Long ball/thug tactics
3. Bollocking the players at HT
Do I need to go on?
Villa get the second half started then.
Ah, yeah. It's Citeh at Craven Cottage. Hard to call that one too. Will Fulham be knackered after the heroics against Juve? Or still on a high?
Villa are predictably giving it a go from the off. I still expect them to pull this one out.
You have to fancy Villa from any set piece with the likes of Dunne, Cuellar, Heskey and Carew in at the danger zone.
I am back but about to take Shadow for walkies with Kathy and Jonathan
How was the walkies?
How long is Jermain Defoe out for?
Mick McCarthy will be delighted that Wolves' lead has survived until the hour mark.
Free header for Carew and it's a tame effort easily collected by Hahnemann.
What are the big games in League 1 today?
I agree - if they lose, that's the Champions League dream over for them. It would be down to Spurs, Liverpool and Citeh.
Thanks for asking. The big one is Norwich away to fourth placed Swindon. Since I've conceded the championship to the Canaries, I'll be hoping for a big Norwich win today.
Charlton are at home to Gillingham. Nice win for the Gills, please. Finally, Colchester are away to mid-table Walsall. Then I'll be happy with a point against Millwall on Monday.
Paul Merson backs Roy Hodgson for next England manager. I'd be okay with that. You?
Wolves have made a change, hauling off Stephen Ward and sticking on Mancienne, a nippy winger. It's working for them. A burst of attacking energy. This is a remarkable performance from them - probably the best of their season.
Heskey comes close but it's cleared in a mad scramble.
Richard Dunne limps off now. It's not going right for Martin O'Neill.
Yes, I would be okay for Hodgson for England
Do you need any of that Just For Men... sorry!
The most elementary tactical mistake there from Villa. A big free kick chance and they only put Ashley Young on the ball. All the Wolves defenders push up and catch the Villans offside. That's why you put two men on the ball for a free-kick. Even a dinosaur like Mick McCarthy knows that.
Nah - no need for any shampoo either, thanks.
Anton Ferdinand being interviewed on SS now. Could those Ferdinand boys be any more East End? Don't fink so!
I am off for the walk... the weather is too inviting.
I'll be back
Come on Villa... everything is just falling into Costa's lap!
Down to ten minutes at Villa Park. I am shocked by this scoreline. It'll be ten points down for me right from the start.
Del Boy and Rodney Trotter would be happy.
It is beautiful this weekend. Enjoy it!
Villa get their VITAL equalizer!
Now for the winner?
GOAL! Villa level it through Carew. A whiff of offside but the replay shows that he was level with the last defender. Easy tap in again. Sidwell's shot turned in.
2-2!
Are you sticking around now?
Gotta go
My prediction is that Villa will win it!
That's what I've been saying all along but Wolves are hanging on like grim death now. Almost into extra time now and it's down the other end.
Mick sticks another defender on now. He'll be reasonably happy with a point.
Into stoppage now....
Wolves have one last chance here from a long free kick.
Wolves unbelievably finishing the stronger of the two. Long throw in now and it's now a corner to Wolves.
Ooooh - Iwelumo nearly onto the corner there.
Final whistle - a 2-2 draw in the Brum derby this afternoon. It's not really enough for either side but Wolves will be the happier. It pushes them further clear of the bottom three. Villa nearly out of the CL race.
Form sides Everton and Bolton both name unchanged sides for this afternoon's Goodison Park clash.
Portsmouth boss Avram Grant makes five changes to his starting XI for their home meeting with fellow strugglers Hull.
Sunderland striker Kenwyne Jones misses today's clash with Birmingham due to a hip injury.
Peter Crouch comes in for Tottenham today replaceing hamstring injury victim Jermain Defoe in the starting line-up.
Nearly kick-off time in the 3pm GMT matches. It's all down to the last ten matches in L1. We're currently six points up on Charlton counting the goal difference factor. I'm hoping for a bit of help today from Gillingham, Norwich and Walsall.
Come on!
And we're off!
Fantastic start from Burnley according to Chris Kamara. Wigan under the cosh.
It's Everton v. Bolton on FSC right now.
Paul Merson yells out "GOAL!"
1-0 Sunderland - Darren Bent knocks in the opener. Brum in bad form right now.
Fantastic tackle by Paul Robinson to rob Anichebe of a chance.
The Tractor Roys are 1-0 up at Portman Road. Darrell Murphy putting Ipswich up over Barnsley.
Carlisle are 0-1 up away to Southend. They look about dead and buried now.
Bristol Rovers have taken the lead at Yeovil.
Merse is yelling again.
Bent with his second goal. Sunderland 2-0 up inside ten minutes.
I am back from a wonderful walk
Sunderland are two up against Birmingham
21 goals in the Premiership for Bent who will harbor delusions of getting on the plane to SA.
Welcome back, lad. I'm looking forward to a nice walkies over to work later this afternoon. It's been a special week weather-wise here.
I'd actually be relatively pleased if all the L1 games finished right about now. Blow up, refs!
Carlisle have scored again. It's looking like a poor day for the Shrimpers. 0-2 down already.
Carlisle are two up at Southend. Does this score matter?
uh, Cambridge are two down at Wrexham
Not really. Southend are probably dead and buried. Carlisle are probably too far outside the play-offs to dream.
Forest take the lead against Peterborough
The bing bang Baggies are 2-0 up to PNE. They're going up, no question.
Wait a minute - it's 2-1 at the Hawthorns.
Preston get a goal back at the Hawthornes
Anichebee off on a stretcher
Victor Anichebe has been stretchered off.
Gareth Bale coming off for Spurs with a bad injury.
I want to see Everton hammer Bolton
We have them next week at the Reebok
Joe Jordan's having a bit of a chinwag with the officials. Might get himself sent off. He's still angry about that Bale injury.
Players are going down all over place at Goodison. Some rough tackling going on
Not a lot of goals in L1 - fine by me.
That's Bolton for you...
Still goalless at Fratton Park. Any prediction there?
Are you watching the Spurs match?
I just have the Everton match on the TV and Soccer Saturday
Looks like all Norwich pressure at Swindon so far.
Nah - just following it on the SS feed. I'm with you on FSC and SS on VSS.
Of course, I'd like to see Pompey get the win. I want them on a high, they play Chelsea midweek
Abdoulaye Faye nods wide when unmarked as Stoke go close to an opener against Spurs. Should be 1-0 there.
Southend have got one back against Carlisle.
Hull have taken the lead!
Elmander is a big hulk of a player but he does go down easily. Free kick to be taken by....Kevin Davies? Why?
Huddersfield take the lead at Orient
Does it matter?
Wow! I did not expect that. Ian Dowie must be doing a jig.
Well - Huddersfield have an outside chance of getting into the playoff spots. They're now five points behind Colchester in sixth. Orient are strictly mid-table.
2-2 now at Roots Hall. Four goals in half an hour. Wow!
At least he doesn't have to stand behind that bloody drum at Blackpool!
Southend tie it up with Carlisle
Pretty much all the goals in the league are coming at Roots Hall
I love the Blackpool drum. It's hilarious.
You wouldn't if you were there!
That's what me earplugs are for!
Penalty shout at Goodison. Not give
Chris K says his famous FIGHTING LIKE BEAVERS!
WBA get a third
Love Chris Kamara!
I'll say it again - I'm very pleased with the way that the L1 table looks right now. Blow up, refs!
I love Youtubing SS funnies. He is always involved!
Bugger.. Charlton have scored but so have Gillingham!
Whew! It looked like Charlton had the advantage but the Gills have equalized immediately. Taverymuch!
The drummer is silent at Blackpool. Two nil Palace
The report was amongst the away fans!! Maybe they were fed up with the drummer too!
Pavs is already off - Eidur Gudjohnsson on already in the first half. Still 0-0.
Pavla off for Spurs with an injury. That is Bale and Pavla off for Spurs. Defoe, hate him, has a hammy and is out a few weeks.
They need Keane back
Second goal at Fratton Park... 1-1
Pompey have equalized!
Dean Windass always sounds as if he's eating a kebab when he's reporting on a match.
Brighton have taken the lead at Oldham
Bristol Rovers double their lead at Yeovil
The reporter at Cheltenham sounds as if he's on a submarine!
3-2 at West Brom
Five goals in the first half at the Hawthorns! 3-2 now.
Good save, Timmy there!
3-0 for Bristol Rovers
If you were a Yeovil fan, would you leave at half time?
Bale didn't go off
Norwich go to half scoreless
Really!? I thought he did!
Please keep ignoring Darren Bent, Fabio!
I'm off for a half-time shower, mate.
Oh dear - Walsall are down to ten men against Colchester. Still 0-0 though.
I have only left a match early once. It was with the Hunters at Celtic. I went camping with them and we went to a match. We left early and I think a goal was scored while we were in the parking lot
Walsall down to ten men against Colchester. Bad news there. Of course, didn't they lose last week playing against 10 men?
I just looked at the Championship table.
If the scores stay the same, Ipswich would be 9 points ahead of the drop zone and EIGHT points away from the play offs!!!
WORK!!
Leeds live on Sky on Monday and YOU HAVE TO WORK
Second half underway
There is a goal somewhere...Spurs are winning. The goal was scored by Gudjohnson
Blackpool gets a goal back against Palace. No drum heard
Boro take the lead against Reading... according to Kehbab boy
Stoke down to ten men as well
I'm back just in time to hear about Norwich taking the lead!
And Charlton are 1-2 down. Woo hoo!
Now - BLOW UP, REFS!
Norwich one up against Swindon.
Good news, right?
Timmy with some fancy footwork there to get out of trouble.
Missed the Charlton score
Well done mate
COME ON WALSALL
Yes indeed. There's no catching Norwich with only ten matches left and they're being ten points up on us. It pegs Swindon - and Charlton - back to 66 points - six points behind us.
I've lost the TV to March Madness
I can't be greedy. I'll give Colchester a point today. They're eight points off of us now. I can't see them making that up in nine matches.
And you're going to take that lying down! Come on, mate. You're the bleedin' paterfamilias!
Apparently, Craig Gordon is having a blinder for Sunderland. Wonder if one of the big boys come in for him. How about Fergie buying a fellow Scot?
Kevin Phillips has come on for Birmingham. I didn't know he was still playing!
I am enjoying SS better than the match
Has Fergie ever bought a Scot?
Brum have gotten a goal back
Can they come back from two nil down two weeks in a row
That's not hard to imagine. It's been a rubbish match at Goodison.
Dunno,
I know he brought in that old fogie of a Rangers keeper for no apparent reason
Have SS reported on that Brum goal? Are you ahead of them?
I know there's Fletch but he's home grown by United and I think he's a fake Scot, right? Scots granny, that sort of thing?
Ricardo Fuller has gone off for slapping a player!
I got it from SS
I have my link on JustinTv
Port Talbot is the score at the bottom
Penalty for Stoke!!
Stoke score the penalty!
1-1
Stoke have a penalty!
Etherington to take and....
1-1 at the Britannia!
Things still going my way in L1 with thirty minutes or so to play.
Blow up!
schtuum
Classic on SS
Jeff getting the two names wrong
Litre and Wheater
The SS lads having a go at Jeff for mistaking Leroy Lita with David Wheater.
Still all falling into place for Costa!
Charlton have tied it up
Bugger! Charlton are back level again at 2-2.
I know what you mean. How on earth can Pool still be in with a chance of CL status next season? If they get that fourth spot, I hope they get knocked out in the qualifying round to Grasshoppers.
Bolton have United, Villa and Chelsea to come next!
See, you should have just shut up about L1 scores!
I can't believe that they even have a reporter at Accrington v. Rochdale. Why bother!?
Keano scores Celtic's second
Still okay - blow up, refs!
Isn't Rochdale league leaders?
First promotion in YONKS!
Sotton two up at MK Dons
Saints now 0-2 up and the Dons' hopes of playoff glory are fading.
Who cares?!
2-1 Hull!
Hull have scored against the run of play
Not good news for the Hammers
Oh dear oh dear. Red card for Bolton's Steinson. Last man back.
Foul on Yak and red card for Bolton
Good striker work there.... get the yourself in between the ball and the defender
Free kick chance now for the Toffees.
