Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Goalkeepers: Robert Green, Joe Hart, David James.

Defenders: Jamie Carragher, Ashley Cole, Rio Ferdinand, Glen Johnson, Ledley King, John Terry, Matthew Upson, Stephen Warnock.

Midfielders: Gareth Barry, Michael Carrick, Joe Cole, Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, Aaron Lennon, James Milner, Shaun Wright-Phillips.

Forwards: Peter Crouch, Jermain Defoe, Emile Heskey, Wayne Rooney.

What a fiasco the FA had today. I was following the text on the BBC and there was rumor after rumor about one player and another. NO ONE would make an official announcement. Here is the website I was following. Start from the bottom

My thoughts...

I think Theo was unlucky not to go in front of SWP.
I think Dawson should have been ahead of Upson but other than that... no complaints

Another note from today
Crystal Palace was saved from extinction at the last moments

I was on a similar thread on the Guardian earlier today. I'm not quite sure why Fabio thought he needed to increase the suspense. He'd said as early as Friday that he knew the seven who wouldn't be going. Then why waste their time playing in a nothing friendly against Japan?

I agree with you about Theo and Dawson. Most interestingly, Fabio decided against either Huddlestone or Parker as a back-up at defensive mid, which either means that he's confident that Barry will be fit or that he plans not to use a defensive mid against Algeria and Slovenia. That would be welcome news indeed.

I don't see the importance of Barry. He had a very mediocre season with Citeh!

What about Giuseppe Rossi being left out of the Italian squad? Should have been with the US!!

If you're arguing against the knee-jerk use of a defensive mid in all three group matches, then I'm with you.

If, however, this is a partisan pitch for Red Deviler Michael Carrick's inclusion in the starting XI...well, then no thanks. He was rubbish on Sunday.

I did have a dark chuckle at Rossi's expense when I heard the news. Tosser.

No, I am not on Carrick's side at all! He was one of our best players in previous seasons but not this one!
I just don't know if Barry is the important player that everyone is saying he is
