Spurs v. Milan Live!
It won't console Arsenal fans, but we've got a decent chance of seeing another English representative safely in the Quarters with Spurs taking on weakened Milan at home with a goal to the good. Italian footie is already a mess with Roma knocked out of the tournament yesterday, so it's a chance to stick the knife into Serie A today. Join me from 2:45 pm.

The team news is in from Shite Fart Lane:
Tottenham: Heuerelho Gomes; Vedran Corluka, William Gallas, Michael Dawson, Benoit Assou-Ekotto; Aaron Lennon, Sandro, Luka Modric, Steven Pienaar; Peter Crouch, Rafael van der Vaart.
Subs: Cudicini, Hutton, Bale, Jenas, Pavlyuchenko, Defoe, King
Milan: Christian Abbiati; Ignazio Abate, Alessandro Nesta, Thiago Silva, Marek Jankulovski; Clarence Seedorf, Mathieu Flamini, Kevin-Prince Boateng; Robinho, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Pato.
Subs: Amelia, Strasser, Papastathopoulos, Oddo, Merkel, Yepes, Antonini
Referee: Franck de Bleeckere
So Bale's cameo on Saturday, where he was electrifying off the bench, was not enough to convince Harry. He starts on the bench. The good news for Spurs fans is that VDV is back in the starting XI.
Hello. been busy and ill. Feeling a bit better in rainy Columbus.
Everton's up against Birmingham too!
Hoping for a Spurs win.
Will be at work and missing the end of all matches. Ugh.
Mr. Personality Gennaro Gattuso is of course suspended tonight so Jankulovski and Flamini will do the holding. Pato and Zlatan will try to do the damage up front.
Afternoon, Someone. Yes - sorry to miss out in previewing the Premiership clash tonight between Everton and Brum. I would argue that Everton's season is pretty much finished. They're not in any danger and yet won't win anything either sitting in 10th. Brum have a lot more to play for tonight, sitting in 18th on 30 points. This is one of two matches in hand that they have on their neighbors.
Spurs doing an excellent job out-singing the CL anthem with a couple of rousing rounds of "Come on, you Spurs!"
Seventh is possible for Everton, not with the current lineup though.
This is a mid-table team with a relegation budget.
Milan get us underway in a buzzing Shite Fart Lane.
I think even 7th doesn't bring anything given that Brum won the Carling Cup and thus a pathway to the Europa League. Probably just 5th and 6th plus Brum into the Europa now.
Oh - VDV has the first half-chance, which he toe pokes with his left peg past the post. Encouraging though.
Oh - Lennon floats a lovely cross to Crouch who won the header and VDV was nearly onto the knock-down.
Oh - Pato got free in the area from a pass by Boateng. He fizzed the cross over and no one was following in. Cracking start to this match.
Free kick opportunity for Spurs. The ball will be knocked long by VDV but too long on this occasion.
Everton and Brum are just getting underway at Goodison Park.
Free kick now for Milan. Oh - Zlatan forces a sharp save by Gomes.
Gomez made a save? Wonders never cease.
I'm following from you and the bbc text site
From the corner, Kevin Prince Boateng rises but is penalized for a foul.
A few howlers aside, I reckon that Gomes isn't half bad as a Premiership keeper.
Coming toward the half-way mark of the match and both sides will be reasonably happy that they've seen off the first quarter without too much incident. Spurs will be banking on their lead and Milan will fancy their chances.
Robinho got free on the left there and Pato's finish was blocked.
Free kick opportunity for Spurs now. VDV behind it of course. Nice effort!
Fifteen minutes in and still 0-0 at Goodison.
Oh - Pato had a great chance there but Gomes did well to parry it and Esou-Ekotto cleared it out.
Just as he was getting back into form, Arteta pulls up lame.
Replaced by Coleman.
I'm on to a lovely Veetle link now for the ITV coverage:
http://www.magictv.co/
Oh - VDV pulled the trigger early there but Abbiati had his body well placed behind it.
Beausejour puts up Birmingham.
Tony Hibbert can't jump.
Sorry, Someone. Wow - that had a huge effect on Brum's fortunes - they jump from 18th to 13th. That's how tight things are at the bottom. West Ham back down in the relegation mire.
Just over five minutes left in this half at the Shite Fart.
Oh - Gallas did really well under pressure there against Pato and then released Lennon.
Harry just looks anxious to get into the dressing room and sort things out. The last thing they want is to concede a silly last minute goal here.
Gomez is having one of his scary nights.
Aaron Lennon's been really well handled with both Boateng and Jankulovski doubling on him.
I am home from work
Still scoreless... I want Spurs to go through!!
Half time
Has it been all Milan?
Half-time: 0-0 will suit Spurs but they've been less than convincing and Milan are more than capable of taking advantage.
The other match is all square on the night an on agg
Everton losing to the Blue Noses... yikes!
Everton have tied it up against Brum.
Heitinga with the goal
The teams are out again at the Lane
We're off
Great cross by Lennon but Crouch messes up the header... AGAIN.. the sound happens before the picture... get it sorted out FSC
2042: Er, what? Bizarre scenes at Goodsion Park where referee Peter Walton has just mimed the booking of Birmingham midfielder Jordan Mutch. He even went rummaging in his pocket. I think he might have forgotten his cards tonight - that just looked odd though. On the touchline, Everton boss David Moyes looked puzzled too.
Afternoon, Dave - sorry, this is the usual Wednesday pop in and out day for me. I'm looking forward to Spring Break when I'll be able to devote my full attention to the matches.
Just one last check on the scores before I head down for my afternoon class. 0-0 at Shite Fart; 1-1 at Goodison now.
2051: HALF-TIME Everton 1-1 Birmingham
Saj Chowdhury's HT snapshot: "I could talk about the goals, I could discuss the injuries to Mikel Arteta and David Bentley, but the major talking point was referee Peter Walton showing Birmingham's Jordon Mutch an invisible yellow card. My highlight of the season so far."
Come on you Spurs... knock out another Italian team
Should Spurs bring on Bale? Very soon I would think. Of course, Spurs don't need to do anything.... if it stays like this, it is over
Great run and cross by Lennon... goes out for a corner... could have been a pen with a handball by Seedorf
Schalke take a 2-1 lead at home to Valencia 3-2 on agg
Spurs and Milan could still go into extra time but the other match cannot
Under half an hour to go and Spurs still going through
Flamini gets a yellow for a tackle that took all ball but still lunged in... what is the damn rule!
He is out of the next round.. hopefully it won't matter
Bale about to come on
Crouch gets a foul called on him... not much there
Back under way at Goodison Park
STRUTH!
Gomes makes a save and throws a horrible pass and Milan break... goes into the box and Gomes saves and then there is a mad scramble that goes out for a goal kick
Bale comes on for VDV. He walks straight down the bench
Spurs are giving the ball away far too easily in the defensive end of the field
Gomes throws the ball out of his box and it goes over the halfway line!!
The 'hopeless, I don't know what anyone sees in him" Jenas is on for Pienaar
20 to go
2113: Over at Goodison Park, the good news is that referee Peter Walton has remembered his cards for the second half. He has just shown a (real) yellow one to Birmingham's Liam Ridgewell.
15 to go until the quarter finals of the EUROPEAN CUP!
2115: The Spurs fans want the ball to be given to Gareth Bale but, when it is, he gives it away - three times in a row. Not quite the impact Harry Redknapp was looking for, so far at least.
Capello in the crowd... why is he there?
To watch the English players?
To root on Milan?
ooh, Pato hits the side netting with a nice shot!
The Milan fans thought it was in!
Again... the sound is before the pictures... complain for me to FSC Dr. Bob!
Spurs, again, give away possession in their own half
Spurs scored late at the San Siro.. hope they do it again at the Lane
Ten to go and a corner to Milan
Come on you Spurs
Come on you Spurs
hey I was rooting for the Arse last night
Corner cleared and still some pressure but cleared again
Spurs are just sitting back... They can't get it out of their own half. Their clearances go straight out of bounds
Pavla replaces Crouch
Corluka looks to have hurt himself but Spurs have already used up all their subs
84th minute... Spurs have a corner.. the crowd look VERY nervous
Bale has done nowt since he has been on
Flamani being replace... the fans are booing... wonder why?!
Pato takes a shot from the Emirates and it goes well over
Into the last minute of the 90
Spurs have it in the right part of the pitch
The crowd are singing the hearts out
We have reached the 90 minute mark.. .. 3 added minutes
Lennon takes the ball into the corner
Milan hit one over the bar..tipped
A foul called on Gomes from the corner
Spurs have a kick in the Milan's half with under 30 seconds to go
Spurs fans going potty
IT IS OVER!!!
SPURS ARE IN THE QUARTER FINALS!!
MILAN ARE OUT
Come on Spurs.
Come on Toffees, one point is not enough!
Schalke score a late goal and they have knocked out Valencia
I'd love to see Everton get the winner
According to the Beeb, Birmingham are under a lot of pressure
2146: It's still all Everton, and they are camped in the Birmingham half. Blues keeper Ben Foster is taking his time over every clearance... because the ball keeps heading straight back in his direction. Time is running out for the Toffees to find a winner, though.
If Birmingham get a point, they will climb out of the drop zone and get replaced by West Ham. Everton would be 11th
3 added minutes at GP
It's all over and it ends all square between Everton and Brum... better score for Brum than Everton
Talk to everyone on the weekend
TTFN
UWS
Terrific result for Spurs tonight. Again, it's no consolation for Arsenal fans but English footer fans can be very proud. I reckon that we'll have three teams in the quarters.
Schalke have also knocked out Valencia tonight, so we've got one Ukrainian, one Spanish, one English and one German side so far.
