Happy 5th Birthday, LOB!
Today marks five fantastic years of chatter on this forum. Many thanks to all of you who have made LOB the place to go on a Saturday morning. I hope you'll join me for an epic day of blogging as the English footie world nears its climax. I'm hoping some of the anniversary mojo will rub off on my beloved Whites as they travel to Burnley for a last-chance saloon match to qualify for the play-offs. See you around 7:45 am EST.

Lovely - I've got a link for Fox Soccer Plus, which is favoring us with a round-up of the Easter matches in the Championship:
http://hulisports1.blogspot.com//
Here's how things stand in the Championship this morning with all sides having played 44 and having two to come:
1. QPR - 38 pts (+38 GD)
2. Norwich - 80 pts (+24 GD)
3. Cardiff - 79 pts (+25 GD)
4. Swansea - 74 pts (+21 GD)
5. Reading - 73 pts (+25 GD)
6. Forest - 69 pts (+ 12 GD)
7. Millwall - 67 pts (+17 GD)
8. Burnley - 67 pts (+5 GD)
9. Leeds - 66 pts (+9 GD)
So, obviously we need three points against Burnley. Without that, hopes of the playoffs are gone.
Other than that, we can't catch the top five so only Forest, Millwall and Hull in 10th are of interest. Forest are at home to Scunny, Millwall are home to Swansea in another big match and Hull are home to our Monday vanquishers Palace.
Good morning Bob! Happy Anniversary! What an achievement. Thanks to you as LOB has been an important part of my life. You couldn't pick a better match as both Leeds and Burnley need to win to have a chance of making the playoffs and a local derby on top of that. Well done Bob!
Good morning fellas
Happy Anniversary!
This was all your doing Bob... well done!
FIVE BLOODY YEARS!
Cheers, Dave. It's one of my proudest moments. Welcome!
I just checked and the match is at ER today. COME ON YOU WHITES! Plymouth is away to Exeter in a West Country Derby . The latest score is 0-0.
I appreciate it, David. You've been a great addition this past year. Many happy returns on the anniversary.
I hope you had a safe and peaceful trip to Florida and back.
I have a brilliant Sky Sports link through Veetle
They are on the pitch at Elland Road
http://www.magictv.co/
You're right, MUR. It is at Elland Road today. I almost wish it were at Turf Moor, though - we've been rotten at home of late.
Thank you Bob. I did have a safe trip back and am glad to be back in the thick of the action with LOB.
I agree... MUR has been a great addition to LOB
THOUGH, do Bob and I get some sort of prize for being the Ryan Giggses of LOB... we've been here for the lot
I don't know what your FSC + is like but my link is fantastic
If you beat Burnley today , hopefully QPR can beat Watford, then they make take it easy next week as they should be champions.
What is with the top tier being empty?
We're on ads at present on the FSP link. I'm sticking with it for the time being because it's working well. They've got a Championship wrap-up show on. Nice one!
Leeds also have to worry about Forest and Millwall
Thanks UWS. I have really enjoyed being part of LOB. Yes, there should be a prize for being the Giggses of LOB as you lot made LOB the place to be.Dave and Bob , you have made this a great place to be.
Forest
Scunny H
Palace A
Millwall
Swansea H
Barnsley A
Favorites are Forest... don't you think?
Indeed we do. We need help from others - it's not in our own hands at this point.
Cheers
Yes - I'd say so. They've won three in four and have come on at the right time.
You're making a mistake... my link is crystal clear!
They have been on the pitch, in the tunnel, talking to the two managers... stay with your sucky FSC
Did you see the rumor of QPR being docked FIFTEEN points!
Leeds could pip them!
I agree that Forest are the favorites. We must not give up as long as Leeds have a chance.
I'm onto your link - no build up on Fox.
Villa can have Bannan back - he's been rubbish for us.
As for the Premier League, I have an itchy bum
I am a HUGE Spurs this afternoon!
Teams in the tunnel.... here they come to the Elland Road roar
Battle of the Roses!
I have not heard that. It sounds too good to be true. That would surely spice up the playoff race. Norwich and Evil Cardiff would be promoted.
Good link... isn't it?
All we have to concentrate on is winning our last two matches. Next weekend, it's QPR away. They'll likely wrap up the title today, so maybe they'll slip up with us.
I'd love that. I was really amused that there were evil QPR fans on the pitch celebrating promotion on Monday when Norwich scored in extra time. Neil Warnock had to say, "Pack up the champers, lads."
Fantastic link, mate. But they've gone to ads right before kick-off. WTF?!
Spurs need to get something from today's game. If they lose and LiverSox win.. they are out of European spots completely
Sky and ITV always do that.... I miss the BBC!
COME ON SCUNNY!
I saw the 'celebration' on the field. BBC had a link for it
That should be a cracker - it's the late match on FSC today - Chelski v. Spurs. Are you around all day, lads?
Good omen... he said "Marching On"
A beautiful day for a football match as Plymouth are in action as we speak. The match is underway from ER.
I may miss the beginning of it but I will be here
We're off... come on Leeds
Here we go with Leeds United! MOT!
I will be around for the duration.
We love you Leeds, Leeds, Leeds!
I'd like to see Plymouth win too.... survive even after their points reduction
Well... you do?
Marvelous! Thanks, lads! I'm hoping some others will drop in for an anniversary natter.
Would Burnley be in a promotion spot if Brian Laws had been sacked earlier?
Bob, did you see the comment about the top tier? It looked empty! What have their attendances been?
Not a good omen for McCormack and Paynter - our strike pairing. In fairness, Gradel has 17 goals this season.
Gradel fakes being hurt and gets himself open for a cross...not a brilliant one
What is wrong with Becchio?
I've just checked again - we're highest in the division with an average of 27K+
Leeds won a corner off the free kick and now have another corner.
Bradley Johnson goes down with a weak appeal there. Corner....
At least we're on the front foot from the start.
Come on - early goal to settle the nerves, lads.
What is the capacity? It looked like it was shut off
McCormack should have done better as he tried to lob Brian Jensen, But it was easily caught.
Strange effort there by McCormack, just kind of looped it up for the keeper.
There was a chance for Burnely as the long ball to Iwelumo did not come off.
What am I, the Leeds United statto?
I've just checked - it's 39K capacity. Any more questions?
Just wide by Paynter after a superb turn by Gradel and a layoff by McCormack.
oooh, that was close.. the keeper didn't see bothered!
Oh - Paynter came close there after some sterling work from Gradel. We're looking good.
My link has been stuttering, but did I hear that Lichaj could have played for Poland?
You'll answer all the questions I ask buddy boy!
Is the stand closed for some reason?
QPR will have to do better than an average of 25K in the Premiership. I've heard that their ticket prices are really high.
My link has been crystal clear!
It has paused once
That was a great tackle as Paynter seemed to be through. Now Burnley have a corner.A great catch by Kasper.
Not that I can tell from my basic research. The Revie Stand - which we are attacking - at the north end of the ground holds 7K. The East Stand - the one we're looking at across the pitch - holds 17K, The South Stand holds 5K and the John Charles Stand holds 11K.
Great link, mate. Thanks. It almost makes up for the CIA-like interrogation about the facilities.
Not sure what Lichaj was thinking there. He's given away a corner.
They just said a capacity crowd
The tier was on the high side of the ground. Not at the end
Who is this color guy? He's getting up my nose already.
Duff is just about keeping us out right now.
Perhaps the top tier is under construction for an eventual return to the Prem?
Great save by Pete's kid
That was too close!
Oh - great save by Kasper. But he's down for the count. Llewelyn clattered him.
Duff was through and Kasper made a great save with his face!
Do you think it was a penalty?
As usual we look good going forward but rubbish at the back.
I've seen them given - I'll say that.
He was all over him... don't be jumping up like that!
Andy O'Brien can go back to Blackburn - he's been rubbish for us and all.
Burnley are coming back into this one. Chris Eagles with a shot over there. Isn't he one of your youth products?
Shut it, color guy!
Do you know the play off finals are going to be at Old Trafford this season?
UEFA have a rule that nothing can happen at a Stadium holding the European Cup Final FOURTEEN days before their final... that is why the Cup Final was moved to the 14th
Nice hit by Gradel
Oooh - super effort from Gradel. He's been our best player so far.
A long range effort from Gradel went straight to Brian Jensen.
Interesting trivia there, lad. I hope that we'll get there.
Dare I say that we have pleasant memories of our last trip to Old Trafford?
Exeter have taken the lead against Plymouth in the Devon derby
Great work, UWS. That explains the weird cup final schedule and the playoffs. That is correct, Bob. Eagles was a United trainee.
I fully expect that the FA will wimp out when it comes to dealing with QPR.
Did anyone notice that this is the battle of the Danish keepers.
That Exeter Plymouth match is already into the second half
Football League Danny: "A big blow for Plymouth, that Exeter goal early in the second half. Should they lose today, and Walsall win against Charlton at 1500 BST, they'll be needing snookers to avoid the drop..."
Sorry to hear that - our Plymouth exchange students arrive in two weeks.
Gradel crosses, but it is headed away. He has been Leeds' most dangerous player .
Bloody hell - when did that one kick off - yesterday?
I agree. Sorry Bob.
Eagles scored for United in the Prem
He scored United's fourth in a 4-2 win at Goodison after being two nil down.... it almost won us the Championship that day
Dangerous free kick chance now. Shame that Snoddy isn't on the pitch. It'll be Ross McCormack to take.
Another close one by Leeds.... not much of a curl there
McCormack takes and it's well wide. Not enough bend in it.
The free kick from McCormack is just wide after Bikey conceded the free kick. Bikey should be close to a booking after numerous clumsy challenges.
Bloody hell - I've lost my link!
I'm back to the Fox Soccer Plus link I mentioned earlier.
http://hulisports1.blogspot.com//
Leeds should go after Bikey, who seems to be off the pace. Grayson should mention that at halftime.
OH DEAR.... MY LINK JUST DISAPPEARED!!
I just refreshed it a couple of times and it is back
I am on that link.
Good move ends with Neil Kilkenny striking one. They'll need to get closer to beat Jensen.
The long range effort from Kilkenny is straight at Jensen.
The nice one about this link is that there isn't any irritating anti-Leeds color guy.
OOOH - Paynter just about beat Jensen there with the header.
Jensen does well to tip Paynter's header around the post after a great cross by McCormack.
My link is still working well after the one incident
Nice effort.... their getting closer
I'd like to see Alex Bruce given a chance again from the start of next season alongside a seasoned pro like Richard Naylor.
The Big Match tomorrow is on at 9 a.m. tomorrow morning on FSC... I like how they are showing those early games on FSC unlike last season
YESSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ross with his first for the club!
1-0!
Brilliant!
YES! GOAL! 1-0 LEEDS AS ROSS MCCORMACK PUTS LEEDS 1-0 UP AS HE FINISHES COOLY PAST BRIAN JENSEN!
That's us up to 7th again, level on 69 points with Forest but two goals behind them on GD.
They went after Bikey, the weak link. More of the same please. They should continue to attack Bikey.
My link is crystal clear but yours is ahead of mine
Great ball through from Bradley Johnson and McCormack timed his run well. Grayson loves it!
MOT!
That was a superb pass from Bradley Johnson.
That was a cool finish.
I agree, MUR. Gradel has been reasonably well handled by their left back while there's been lots of space down Bikey's side on the left.
Get another... Forest lose.. their gd goes down... back in the driver's seat
McCann can knock those long balls out of play all day long, ta very much.
Could be, mate. Could be. All I can concentrate on is three points here.
Cap'n Birdseye is well wrapped up today in the stands.
I feel like some fish and chips
Ken Bates should be pleased as he appears to be chilly on a warm day.
Oh - McCormack should have played Paynter in there. He's feeling confident after having scored I suppose.
Back to the Prem... I really don't want ScouseSox to make Europe... they need to lose some points to the Toon as well as Spurs beating Chelsea
Arrrrrrr!
Jensen saved comfortably from Paynter. I agree, UWS and BD. I am up for fish n' chips.
That would suit me, definitely, UWS.
Duff goes into the book.
Michael Duff is booked for a rugby tackle on Ross McCormack.
The free kick did not quite come off.
I am changing to your link
Mine has gone off again
O'Brien hacks Iwelumo and we're under the cosh again. No, it's a corner.
Andy O'Brien concedes a corner with some unusual defending.
The commentators are differnent
I had big hopes for Paynter when he moved from Swindon last summer but his season has been wrecked by injury.
McCormack is an unusually small striker, don't you think?
Burnley's manager looks more like a footballer than a manager. I thought he was one of the subs.
Bloody hell, Neil! Coughed up the ball in a really dangerous area. We need to hang on til half time.
I thought so, too, MUR. Hang on!
There is one minute of stoppage time.
We're giving them plenty of encouragement here. Eagles with a wild effort. Ta very much.
Half time
So far so good
Peep peep. Yes, we go in a goal to the good at the interval. Grayson will have to re-organize them to get them roaring out again after the half. Good start, though. I'm hopeful.
The other link is working again. It only just went into added time
I am going to leave it on for the half time stuff
Leeds have a deserved halftime lead as they were the better side. I do notice that Ross McCormack is a small striker. He does pose a threat to opposing defenses with his non-stop running.
Were Leeds attacking their favorite end in the first half?
Rangers are winning at Motherwell 3-0
The latest from the Devon Derby is Exeter 1 Plymouth 0 with fifteen minutes remaining.
Rangers now lead 4-0 at Motherwell.
Time for a bit of the Leeds United Calypso.
I feel so happy, feel so fine!
They are showing the QPR teams of the early Prem days....they were a force back then... stop showing all the goals against UNITED!
QPR will be going straight back down, IMHO. They've got no real quality.
The only problem is that they can strengthen the side thanks to financial backing and as I type they are talking about Blackburn under Jack Walker and Kenny Dalglish.
More anti-United as they show Blackburn clinching the title thanks to our slip up at Upton Park. ENOUGH!
We're back at Elland Road for the second half. Burnley about to get us underway.
The second half kicks off from ER.
No changes to either side as we start.
Glad I missed that 95 stuff!
Rubbish cross by Lichaj. Get him off!
More Football League Stuff
Football League Danny: "Southampton cannot be promoted from League One today - but if they win at Brentford and Huddersfield lose at champions Brighton, their goal difference means they're all-but up. The Terriers will want to capitalise on any Saints-themed slips though. In the play-off mix, MK Dons (at Notts County) and Bournemouth (at Hartlepool) could seal a top-six finish today, with Leyton Orient bubbling under. At the wrong end, it's crunch time for Dagenham & Redbridge (hosting Carlisle) and Bristol Rovers (hosting Sheffield Wednesday). Defeat for either could mean it's League Two time, depending on Walsall's result. It's fear o'clock."
McCartney with a suicidal backpass there but big Kasper was alive to the danger. Our loan players not really doing the job at the back.
That was close as Kasper saves the day with an alert clearance after a horrible back pass from McCartney.
Brucie taking on Hughesy today
I think they don't like each other these days
It's a final as Rangers have won 0-5 at Motherwell.
O'Brien's having a 'mare against Iwelumo.
Andy O'Brien concedes a free kick as he fouls Iwelumo.
Free kick chance for the team that cost United the title
Straight at Kasper
Eagles curls the free kick straight into Kasper's arms. Ta.
Thankfully, the free kick was straight at Kasper.
I'd like to see us back on the front foot again. Burnley have come out looking as they did at the end of the first half.
I agree. I am a little worried as Burnley have had a strong start to the second half.
Just over 31K today. The commentator says it's a capacity of 32K these days. Not according to the LUFC website.
Oh - Paynter might have done better there. But I like it.
Oh - and Paynter got behind the back of the defense again. Too tight with the angles.
ooh, nice header but saved... the first pass on the break too wide
Almost in again... Paynter went too wide again after rounding the keeper
It's the Stand I tell you
COME ON! Those were two sitters that were missed by Paynter as he headed straight at Jensen with a free header then shot into the side netting after rounding Jensen. Great work by Gradel.
Oh dear - handbags after Rodriguez's tackle. there.
Burnley seem to have all day at the top of the box there... close them down
Rodriguez goes into the book.
Jay Rodriguez is booked for a nasty challenge on Bradley Johnson that was borne out of frustration.
Another hard challenge there from McCann and more handbags!
Did you answer my Becchio question from earlier?
What's wrong with him
IT IS KICKING OFF... the players are losing the plot!
Another final as Exeter have defeated Plymouth 1-0. Sorry Bob.
We don't need this - we should just let the referee do his job. I didn't think the challenge was that bad.
More handbags as the referee needs to maintain control of this match.
Becchio's got a knee injury. He'll be out for the rest of the season.
Not good for Plymouth
McCann and Lichaj go into the book now. Kilkenny as well for protesting.
It's a trio of bookings as McCann is booked for Burnley and Lichaj and Kilkenny for Leeds.
