If It's Wednesday....It's the North London Derby?
Who the hell is programming the fixtures this season? It used to be that the North London Derby - one of the marquee events of the season - was smack dab in the middle of the Boxing Day schedule. Now - it's popping up on a random Wednesday evening in April? I have a feeling that before we know it, the Champions League Final is going to be scheduled at 3am on a Monday morning to suit the Singapore gambling mafia. But I digress....if you're watching, drop in for a natter, won't you?
152 Comments:
To be fair...this fixture was originally scheduled for the early match on Saturday February 26th BUT Arsenal were playing in the League Cup Final that weekend
That makes a bit more sense but still....
Are you around for the match today?
In fact, the other match tonight was also supposed to be played that weekend. Birmingham were busy!
I will be around
I still don't see why you think the title is over
If Arsenal win, it is down to four points. If they had won on Sunday it would have been two!
If Chelsea win tonight, they will be six points behind. They still play United
IT AIN'T OVER
Drogs playing
Torres on the bench
Wilshere is on the bench for the Arse
Only six points ahead with Chelsea and Arsenal still on the slate
This is United's run it

Surprised that Lennon is only on the bench
ESPN2 with a good opening.
Duke Carolina
Yanks Sox
Bears Packers
Arsenal Spurs
The TV is showing the highlights of the 2-3 match from earlier in the season
Of course, there El Classico Part 2 of 4 tonight
Celtic have already taken the lead against Killie in the Scot Prem
I'm back. Arsene will be hoping for a better result than at the Emirates.
I'm not
I've got a lovely Veetle stream here in case you lose control of the telly:
http://www.linkabstract.com/
Didn't think that you would.
Are Arsenal playing in white? Or are those just the tracky tops?
It's great to have Macca on board for these matches - he's a class act.
Lots of empty seats in the Arsenal end according to Five Live
I do like him
I hated him as a player
Lucky to get a European Cup medal with Madrid... never did anything for England
Five Live keep saying it is over.... why are people giving it to United... they have been pants most of the season
Birmingham have a tough run in... get a point to night Brum
Have I mentioned that I am "The Most Interesting Man in the World?"
Stay thirsty, my friends...classic!
It's about time Eboue was left out - he's been having a 'mare recently.
I have always thought you are interesting!
Arsene at least shook Harry's hand before the match...we'll see if he does after the final whistle!
COME ON YOU SPURS!
COME ON YOU SPURS
COME ON CITY
COME ON CITY
COME ON CITY
Make yesterday's point even better
Cheers, mate!
We're off!
Spurs get us underway, looking immediately for Crouchie up front.
Dangerous cross by Spurs missed by Bale
Five Live has not cut off but it doesn't have a game
I guess Talk Sport has the match
Chelsea have just scored!!'
Malouda after 2 minutes
I am pleased about Five Live still being on air. It will keep me up to date
I've always hated the camera angle at Shite Fart. It's way too high up - might as well be from a blimp cam.
ARSENAL SCORE!!!
BLOODY HELL!!!!
This night has not started well!!!!!
That goal means that Chelski go joint second, one goal better than Arsenal, at least temporarily. Wouldn't it just be like the Blues to make a late run - wow!
Five Live is slightly ahead of ESPN!!!!
GOAL! It's just got worse - Walcott slots home after breaking the offside trap. Easy.
1-0 Arse!
Is it United's title?
I don't think it is done and dusted
STRUTH... 1-1!!
VDV!!!!
COME ON BRUM!!!
You know, that goal reminds me that I could actually see Theo playing more of a TH-14 role for the Arse straight down the middle rather than out wide right. His finishing, as Macca just said, is actually better than his crossing.
Nice finish
Are you ahead of my link!!!!
You are!
Great start to this match!
Szesny beaten at the near post there. Not a good sign.
Oh - now Crouch has gone close.
I have the TV on
Are you on the computer?
Find a TV!!!
Yeah - I'll just pull one out of me bum, then.
Again, I am listening Five Live and they announce there is a goal and it happens almost immediately on the TV
No reason not to have a TV in your office!!!
Sure - I'll just put it next to my espresso machine.
Nice shot by RVP and saved by Gomes
Robbie Savage doesn't think Arsene should stay at Arsenal. He think the Barca man should come to the Em. He says that the Special One is too big for Arsenal
ARSENAL TAKE THE LEAD AGAIN!!
GREAT MATCH!!
COME ON SPURS... DEFEND!
GOAL! 2-1 Arse! What a start. Nasri with a ripper!
12 minutes gone... three goals
Pep Guardiola for the Arsenal? I could see that.
I reckon that The Special One is destined for Eastlands.
I am still stunned that Five Live don't have the rights for this game!
I think he is going to other side of Manchester soon
uh oh.... students knocking on Dr. Dahlgren's door!
Bloody students!
I should probably schedule office hours for something like Friday afternoons...but they would probably still come knocking at 3pm on a Wednesday. Bloody Sabres fans.
Celtic two up
2003: Real Madrid v Barcelona line-ups:
Real: Casillas, Marcelo, Carvalho, Sergio Ramos, Arbeloa, Pepe, Xabi Alonso, Khedira, Ozil, Ronaldo, Di Maria.
Barcelona: Pinto, Alves, Pique, Mascherano, Adriano, Sergio Busquets, Iniesta, Xavi, Messi, Villa, Pedro.
Spurs still have Chelsea away, Liverpool away and Citeh away
That's a hell of an El Classico!
I'm not at all convinced by Szesny.
That's was a nasty tackle by Diaby... gets nothing
Bale and Wilshere, eh? Not a bad choice.
I agree - nasty.
Bugger.. Chelsea double their lead... Kalou
Chelsea are six points behind and 5 goals
Celtic are three up
14 minutes without a goal... what is going on
Walcott goes just wide!!
COME ON SPURS!
Celtic are three up at half time
Bloody Hell... 3-1!
RVP nets the rebound
THIS MIDWEEK SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!
STRUTH... I thought Spurs were getting a penalty
Just a throw in
Asking for a stretcher for Bale... Pleat thinks he will be okay but he looks like his leg really hurts
GOAL
HUDDLESTONE WITH A BELTER!!
2-3!!!!
What a laser by Huddlestone right through VDV's legs!
I think Bale is still off
Bale is on but not moving well
He is hobbling badly.. they are just waiting for half time to see if can continue
4 added minutes
Chelsea two up at half time
STUPID FREDONIA STUDENTS... GET A LIFE
Copa Del Rey has kicked off... I hope they all get hurt for two months!
Half time
GREAT MATCH!!
I fear Chelsea!
Come on Spurs!
Just like the second half at the Em!!!
Second half underway at the Bridge and at the Lane
Celtic are four up!
Bale is replaced by Lennon
Song in the book inside 30 seconds
A second yellow this time for Djoiru
Dangerous position for the free kick... just over the bar by VDV
COME ON YOU SPURS
COME ON YOU SPURS
COME ON YOU SPURS
COME ON BRUM
COME ON BRUM
COME ON BRUM
Lennon on the left
WHL sounds great
Wilshere is coming on for Diaby
VDV with a shot saved.. corner to Spurs
Still too easy for Chelsea.
Torres still on the bench
Second half not as good as the first in North London
RVP puts it in the net... but offside... I don't think he was but of course the WHL angle stunk
Bugger.. Malouda scores Chelsea's third
Torres is off the bench.. surely he can score tonight
This half has been dull compared to the first
Still not bad but not like the first!
Madrid hit the post near half time
PENALTY TO SPURS!!!
Absolutely cast iron... VDV to take... 3-3!!!!!!!!!
That goal puts Chelsea into second on GD
Both only 6 points behind United
ooh Modric with a shot fabulously saved by Szczesny
NOW FAB HAS A SHOT SAVED BY GOMES... now it's like the first
Brum get a goal back... game on
Arsene complaining to the fourth official about the penalty... NO WAY ARSENE!
Celtic win 4-0 just like Rangers did last night ahead of the Old Firm Derby at the weekend
Another save by Gomes
Can Spurs do the double of Arsenal for the first time since '93
Pavla coming off for Sandro... striker for a holding middie
Szyz finger tip save off Crouchie
11 minutes to get a winner in this one
AND
for Birmingham getting two
Arse make two changes
Bendtner on for Nasri
Arse Shaven for Wallcott
Chelsea have a free kick on the edge of the SIX YARD box..... Drogs hits it over
Under ten minutes... both teams need the win
Modric takes a shot and it is saved by Szcz as he sits on it
Modric is going to the ground too much
BBC Sport's Phil McNulty at White Hart Lane: "Stunning stuff here tonight - but Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger clearly has a major problem with the award of the penalty that has drawn Spurs level. Long, long discussion with the fourth official, but looked a fair decision. Wenger going through agonies just a few yards away from us."
Spurs look the more likely to win... so Arsenal probably will
Now Arse pressing
Come on Spurs
Gallas looks hurt but they have used up all their subs
As I said before.... Chelsea still scare me... we can't lose to them at OT. It was the same as last season. If we DREW at OT, we would have been champs
Chelsea won 3-1
Torres' streak continues!
They are up to second. Six points behind United and four goals
We're into the 3 added minutes
Still time for TWO penalties
30 seconds
Three minutes are up... Fab has a shot just wide
Surely, the ref will blow up after the keeper kicks
It is over!
3-3!
Arsenal blow another two goal lead!
They are still not out of it.... it is a little more difficult because they now have to worry about United and Chelsea
Still scoreless in Valencia
Great game at White Hart Lane... glad ESPN had this match to follow yesterday's useless game!
2141: That genuinely was a magnificent game of football. The players embrace each other and that's good to see, because Arsene Wenger didn't look best pleased as he shook hands with Harry Redknapp at the final whistle. Pity.
The table looks like this
Man Utd 33 70 +38
Chelsea 33 64 +34
Arsenal 33 64 +32
Citeh 32 56 +20
Spurs 32 54 +8
LSox 33 49 +7
Everton 33 47 +6
United need 10 points from five games
2148: Xabi Alonso slides into Lionel Messi from behind and brings the Argentine down, finding his way into the referee's notebook soon after. Messi lines up the free-kick, with some idiot in the crowd shining a laser on his face. Oh dear.
Arsene Wenger on whether Arsenal can win title: "We will fight like mad for the next game. Of course we can do it - we will try and fight for the next game."
Arsene Wenger on questions about Arsenal's mentality: "It is very unfair, we are on a 15-game unbeaten run and no-one else has done that. This team has an outstanding attitude."
Arsene Wenger on Arsenal's disallowed goal: "I don't think it was offside but do I complain? What does it change?"
Real almost preform daylight robbery!
They have defended all half and Ronaldo breaks but goal saving tackle by Dani Alves
Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti on the title race: "In football we have to believe until the referee whistles for the end of the game. The game is not finished but Manchester United have a fantastic advantage."
Are United nervous?
United NEED to beat Everton on Saturday morning at all cost
El STINKO has ended scoreless.. Extra Time
Good line from Five Live
Arsenal are going to beat United at the Emptycrates
From Jack, on text: "After such a fantastic match is it too much to ask for Arsene to hold his hands up and say both teams gave everything and a draw was fair? Just a thought."
Ronaldo scores for Real right at the end of the first half of Extra time
Angel di Maria fouls Messi in added time of extra time to get a second yellow and is off!
It's over
Full Time
Real Madrid 1 Barcelona 0
2302: Jose Mourinho's players celebrate with gusto, going straight over to their fans in the Mestalla. The Barca players look shell-shocked; they just aren't used to losing. Pep Guardiola goes to all of his players and gives them a little, er, pep talk.
That's it from me
Talk to you guys on Friday and Saturday
There is the East Anglian derby tomorrow too
