LOB Summer Reading
I'm about five weeks shy of summer vacation at this point, so I'm starting to collect summer fun reading. We've had some good experiences hosting reading circles here in previous summers, so how about it? Here are the books that I'm looking forward to reading this summer and might make for a good read here at the LOB:
Jennifer Egan - A comic novel about the music industry.
T.J. English - The Savage City: A survey of New York City in the 70s.
Manning Marable - Malcolm X: The recently-diseased historian's definitive biography.
Steve Martin - An Object of Beauty: Comedian Martin's tongue in cheek novel about the art world.
Rob Sheffield - Talking to Girls about Duran Duran: Rolling Stone critic Sheffield's collection of musings about 80s music.
David Sirota - Back to Our Future: A liberal culture critic looks at the influence of 80s tv and movies on American politics of the past thirty years.
Sarah Vowell - Unfamiliar Fishes: The alt historian Vowell looks at the Spanish-American War.
Feel free to suggest your own picks. Happy reading!

I've been thinking about reading Tina Fey's "Bossypants" and anything not Harry Potter. The Martin and the Sheffield sound great.
Henning Mankell has a new Wallander book out titled, A Troubled Man, and I'm really looking forward to reading TJ English's Savage City about NYC in the 60's.
