Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

I'm here bright and early for the Tale of Two Uniteds. I've got a brilliant link for Fox Soccer Plus:
http://hulisports.blogspot.com/
Meanwhile, ESPN2 have their basketball magazine show on. Beats the creepy deer hunting, I suppose.
While Fox Soccer Plus are wrapping up their Australian footie action, I'm having a quick round of the old MOT:
"Marching on together...la la la"
Morning Bob
I am going to be here for a little while before I have to go to my fantasy baseball draft... I really don't want to go!
Big news is that VDS is not playing today. Either is Hernandez.
Leeds Forest are on BBC 1 so Premium TV might have a link for the match as well
This is really our last promotion six-pointer. We go into this one in 5th, one point better than today's opponents, Forest but with four goals less than them on GD. It's crucial that we don't lose - I'd take a draw today.
Morning, Dave! I'm all set for both matches. Just hurry back - we'll miss your comments!
Here are the line ups
Upton Park
West Ham: Green, Jacobsen, da Costa, Upson, Bridge, O'Neil, Parker, Noble, Hitzlsperger, Cole, Ba. Subs: Boffin, Reid, Tomkins, Spector, Piquionne, Obinna, Keane.
Man Utd: Kuszczak, Fabio Da Silva, Smalling, Vidic, Evra, Valencia, Gibson, Carrick, Park, Giggs, Rooney. Subs: Amos, Owen, Anderson, Berbatov, Hernandez, Nani, Gill.
Referee: Lee Mason (Lancashire)
Elland Road
Leeds: Schmeichel, Lichaj, O'Brien, Bromby, McCartney, Gradel, Howson, Johnson, Bannan, Snodgrass, Becchio. Subs: Higgs, Naylor, Kilkenny, Livermore, Watt, Somma, McCormack.
Nottm Forest: Camp, Gunter, Chambers, Morgan, Lynch, Anderson, McGugan, Majewski, Cohen, Boyd, Tudgay. Subs: Darlow, Adebola, Earnshaw, Tyson, McCleary, McGoldrick, Bennett.
Referee: Mark Halsey (Lancashire)
I am not liking the United line up at all
Now I know where you can still see those hilarious "Shake Weight" ads - Fox Soccer Plus. I prefer the one with women in it, though. The one with men is like gay porn.
Thanks for the line-ups, mate. I'm satisfied with ours.
Nice start by ESPN 2
The ESPN2 coverage of United v. United has started. FSP are still running ads for their other matches, unfortunately. Get on with it!
Check out the BBC 1 link on Premium TV... I think the match is on
You know, I think that Fergie is right. Bugger the performances - you're still on for three trophies this season.
It is still the United way
I just tried the BBC1 link on My Pre - didn't work for me. I'm being patient with FSP - they're still showing goals from dozens of matches but the match starts at 7:45. Not much of a build-up, for sure.
I hope United shut everyone up... everyone is saying West Ham are going to win
I am trying too... no luck either
Real tough run in for United
Teams in the tunnel at Upton Park and it's time for a commercial break!
Good Morning Bd and UWS. WHR might take issue with the title, claiming that it's a tale of three Uniteds. Is there a link for the match at Elland Road?
I still don't see you dropping a lot of points in the run-in.
I did notice that run-in. We have Chelski at OT on the final day of the season. Hopefully, we will have clinched the title by then.
Morning, MUR! Yeah - I'm on a link that purports to be Leeds v. Forest on Fox Soccer Plus:
http://hulisports.blogspot.com/
I guess we could watch both matches at the same time.
I did think of "A Tale of Three Uniteds" but it would lose its Dickensian tone. I think WHR would forgive me - and besides, he's not here, is he?!
Still nothing from Elland Road on FSP - I'm starting to worry.
Finally! The coverage of the Leeds v. Forest match has started - at kick-off time!
Teams still in the tunnel on FSP - I reckon they're behind. West Ham about to get us underway on the Deuce.
Paulo DiCanio singing in the stands!
SAF has a new head piece so he doesn't have to use his Cord Phone
POP THE DAMN BUBBLES!
Go on the Uniteds!!!!!!
We're off
Well... remember West Ham are a United too!
The match has kicked off at Upton Park, but not Elland Road.
I see the teams coming out of the tunnel at Elland Road. Than you for the link,BD.
Upton Park has become bigger. THe stands used to be right next to the field and the goals used to be very skinny. I know they moved everything 'a little bit to the left/ a while ago. The field wasn't centered
Upton Park has become bigger. THe stands used to be right next to the field and the goals used to be very skinny. I know they moved everything 'a little bit to the left/ a while ago. The field wasn't centered
No one thinks of West Ham as "United" though, do they?
I agree, COME ON UNITEDS! That is Manchester and Leeds.
I do have to leave in around 20 minutes!
"Marching on together....."
They are the Ammers
I'll take a two goal lead before I leave
United get the first chance... come on
Oh - Rob Green has to tip over from the header.
Greenie did well to tip over a header from Smalling as Giggs took the corner.
I agree.... but they are!
I wonder if the fans cheer... Come on United
I will have to leave temporarily during the 10 AM matches as my daughter is in another softball tournament.
The good guys about to get underway at Elland Road. Come on, you Whites!!!!
The match kicks off from Elland Road.
Our Uniteds are wearing white shirts today.
First half chance for Bradley Johnson there.
There has to be a positive omen in that, right MUR?
It is still dark outside. I hope this cup of coffee is strong as I drink out of my United mug.
Free kick for Leeds now. Gradel is over it with Snoddy....
Gradel hits it over the bar.
I sure hope so. We are the United.
Everyone is saying that West Ham have been really good but someone on Five Live was saying that they were unorganized not that good
Has Roon touched the ball?
United just knocking long balls into the box
All Leeds pressure so far, with Forest thugging it up. Gunther should have been booked for that block on Gradel.
I don't like those corners taken to the edge of the box. They rarely work.
Bloody hell... penalty
Definite pen
Penalty!
BLOOD HEll! That was a hand ball by Evra. Penalty to the Hammers. What a stupid play by Evra.
STRUTH
Sorry, lads. It's 1-0 West Ham as Noble slots home.
The Hammers take the lead on their first attack of the game as Noble sends Krusczak the wrong way.
Now it's a free kick to Forest on the edge of the box.
It was all United and now this
Phew - straight into the wall. And Leeds break quickly.
Early doors, lads. Early doors.
I know we have lost some key matches at Upton Park over the years. I hope this is not one of them. Come on MAN Yoo!
They did say a stat that United have won the last seven against WH... outscoring them 17 to 1.... now 2
We were caught by a baSIC LONG BALL AND eVRA JUST HAD TO STAND HIS GROUND AGAINST cARLTON cOLE.
HOPELESS BY GIGGS
Snalling heads wide from a Giggs corner.
Forest have fortunately not shown much ambition so far. We seem to be going for it. I'll reiterate, though - I'll take a draw at this point.
Again.. has Rooney touched the wall
Oh - that Forest corner went straight through the area. Heart in mouth time.
Which wall would you like Rooney to "touch?"
Glad to see that Untied Chelsea are playing on Wednesday... I have a faculty meeting on Tuesday
STRUTH... WHERE WAS ROONEY FOR THAT CROSS!!
Better from Man Yoo as Da costa clears for a corner.
Oh - Roon should have done better with that one.
Roon can't chest the ball down... he is pants!!!
This next week is going to be brutal for me - loads of meetings.
Roon fails to get the ball over
I agree. I didn't like the short corner, but the possession looked promising until Roon showed poor control. He wins a corner.
The corner from Giggs is headed clear, then Da Costa clears for another corner.
Almost by United... they have 59th corner of the day
What's with these bloody short corners. They are really useless and a useless effort by Gibson lands in Row Z as someone will collect a souvenir.
Ba got too much space there. Fortunately he shot weakly at Kusz.
Decent strike by Barry Bannon, our Villa loanee. Collected by Lee Camp.
Good defending by Smalling , but Demba Ba was offside.
Demba Ba is called for offside as we gave him too much space on two consecutive possessions. He can score, so we will have to defend properly.
Kris Boyd is starting to look a wee bit dangerous. I'm not liking it.
Still 0-0 after a quarter of an hour gone. I'll take that.
Sadly I have to leave fellas.... best of luck for the rest of game Bob... and of course for you too Dave
TTFN
Hitz fouls Park after Park worked hard to win the ball in midfield.
Bloody hell - it's another penalty!
I reckon it was outside the box, no?
BLOODY HELL! ANOTHER PENALTY AFTER VIDIC IS CALLED FOR A TRIP ON COLE!
2-0 HAMMERS AS NOBLE SHOOTS IN THE TOP CORNER.
Noble takes and rockets it into the top right hand corner.
2-0!
UWS will be glad that he's leaving early. This one is not going to script.
It was on the line, so I would have to give Lee Mason the benefit of the doubt.
More poor control from Roon. Fergie may have to rethink his game plan now.
We have dominated the match, but two moments of stupidity/ madness have cost us.
Furious ping pongy action now at Elland Road. Someone needs to settle it for us.
Roon's poor control has cost us several opportunities. Put on Chicharito who scored twice last Saturday vs Paraguay.
It is hard to tell as the stream is off and on and off and on.
Oh - Snoddy did well to jink into the box but just couldn't dig the shot out.
Another useless corner as Lee Mason blows for a foul.
Walley Downes is in a Hammers jersey that looks like a Scotland jersey.
Did UWS leave already? He may be glad that he does not have to witness Man Yoos moments of insanity.
Oh - great save Green from the Park shot.
Great save by Green by Rafael after a great run and cross by Roon.
Yeah - UWS buggered off for his MLB draft meeting.
ANother corner and another header is wide by Smalling.
We have Chicharito and Drac on the bench while run ,despite that run, is on the pitch , failing to control the ball.
Gibson picks up a needless yellow card.
I think that playing a reserve may back fire.I know we will have a full strength side at the Bridge for the CL match, but we Will lose if we play like this.
Again the Forest corner sails over Schmeichel and straight across the area. I'm not liking those at all.
It seems as if Forest have had the most recent chances.
Well, Fergie was trying to get away with resting a few but surely he'll need to make changes at half time if it stays like this.
Hitz shoots wide after a great run and cross by Gary O'Neil. That could have been 3-0.
Forest make an early change here. McCreary on for the injured Anderson.
He needs to have two strikers on the pitch.
That will hurt Forest as Anderson is one of their best players.
Now Valencia blazes over. We have only had two shots on target. That says everything.
Too much long ball stuff from us today. We need to be more patient.
It seems as if it is a warm day by UK standards today.
I will not be available next Saturday as I will be doing another Statistics presentation. I will miss everyone.
Oh - nearly an opening goal for Forest. Tudgay had his shot cleared off the line by Bromby.
That looked like a chance for Forest, but the link was stuttering and know there is a brawl.
And now both sets of players are having handbags over that Cohen foul. Halsey has sent Chris Cohen off. Forest down to ten men!!!!!
Vidic is booked for a foul on Ba just outside the box. The hammers wanted a red card.
That did look a harsh decision. I would have given a yellow and been done with it. Can we take advantage now?
I thought that was a red card, but could not tell as my stream keeps on stuttering. Was it the right call?
Hitz shot just wide from the free kick. As you stated, you might as well take advantage of Halsey's decision.
The announcer stated that there will be a minimum of two minutes of added time from Upton Park.
To be fair to Mark Halsey, he did consult with his linesman who had a better view of the Cohen foul. I thought it was a reckless challenge with studs up.
We haven't had enough clear cut chances in this match.
Da Costa fouls Roon and United have a free kick in a decent position.
United free kick late on. A training pitch routine that doesn't go quite right.
A poor free kick. That was a horrible idea and a useless cross by Giggs.
Roon looks out of sorts as usual. I'd yank him at half time.
Half time then at Upton Park. 2-0 Hammers. Not a good morning so far.
Still five minutes to play here at Elland Road.
The Hammers lead 2-0 at halftime thanks to two moments of stupidity. It is still 0-0 at Elland Road with a few minutes remaining in the half.
Hull and Millwall are also at 0-0.
I agree. I would take off Roon and Gibson and bring on Chicharito and Drac. We have nothing to lose.
I want the Tigers to beat the Lions.
Lichaj concedes a corner.
Tudgay picks up a yellow card for that cynical chop on Johnson.
We're into three minutes of stoppage time now....
Now Tudgay is booked for Forest as there will be a minimum of three minutes of stoppage time.
Bannon's delivery is poor.
Forest have a free kick late on here.
McCleary shoots and Schmeichel does well to gather.
I am pleased that Shaggy thinks we are capable of scoring in this match because I don't see it with this group of players on the pitch.
Kris Boyd picks up a late yellow for impeding the keeper.
Mark Halsey blows for halftime as it is 0-0 from Elland Road.
Half-time: 0-0. Not a lot of good football to be honest, but lots of effort. I'm hoping for better in the second half.
Millwall have taken the lead at Hull. I was going for the Tigers, not the Lions.
I noticed that your Revs are hosting the Timbers this evening.
Chicharito is on for Evra as the bloody bubbles are in the air. The second half kicks off from Upton Park.
Chicharito volleys over as Giggs does well to get in a cross through the sea of bubbles.
Good move there from Fergie - might as well roll the dice here.
Useless by Roon.
TAKE HIM OFF!
Hello BD! Did I tell that I will not be here next Saturday as I will be doing a Stats presentation?
Scotty Parker volleys high and wide. We will take those all day.
The teams are out on the pitch at Elland Road. Here is hoping for some goals from Leeds.
We're back at Elland Road for the second half now - I'm only getting audio with no video at the moment.
I am getting video, but it is still kind of choppy.
A decent ball from Giggs, but Chicharito fails to control and it makes its way to Green.
Millwall are 0-1 up at half time. They're up into 8th on the strength of that.
I wonder if a draw in that match would be best for Leeds?
This link is working well now:
http://www.tvlive-sport.com/Channel2.html
Yeah - I'd like a draw between Hull and Millwall.
My is doing okay. It is slightly choppy. GOAL!! Snoddy give Leeds a 1-0 lead over Forest.
GOAL! Jonny Howson steps in to finish off a great move through Snoddy on the right.
YESSSSS!!!!!!!!! 1-0 Leeds!
That's Jonny Howson's 11th of the season. Somewhat against the run of play but we'll take it.
Great skill by Howson as he did well to go past the defender and a great finish. as he did well
Da Costa nicks in on Roon and picks up a yellow for it. Free kick United.
Suddenly we're controlling things and Forest are rocking.
That goal has us leaping above Cardiff into 4th, at least temporarily on 64 points.
COME ON YOU WHITES!
COME ON MAN YOO!
Movement now on the Forest bench. I reckon that Billy Davies would have settled for a point after Cohen was sent off. Now he's got to throw someone new into the mix.
An hour in. I'd like to see my boy Nani come on soon. Still plenty of time for United to get this back but Fergie has to be bold. Get Rooney off!
I had posted a comment that I will not be available next Saturday as I am presenting.
I agree . Take off either Roon or Gibson.
Becchio earns a cheap one. Bannon to swing one over.
Sounds like an exciting opportunity for you, MUR, but you'll be missed.
GOAL! 2-0 Leeds as Becchio scores of the corner.
YESSS!!!!!!!!!!!!
Becchio adds the second! Scrappy but we'll take it. He was Johnny on the spot to nod home when it came back off the post.
Thanks BD. As I speak , Drac is on for Park. I would have taken off Gibson. YES! Roon pulls one back for United! A great curling free kick gives Green no chance.
Gradel gets behind his man looking for a third. Three points will do nicely now. And goals are always useful.
With all the excitement at Elland Road I missed the Rooney goal. Was it any good?
United win another corner as our Uniteds have been amongst the goals in the past two minutes.
Yes. It was a curling free kick around the wall.
We're also level with Forest on goal difference now.
Oh - Snoddy hits the bar with a curler. Nearly 3-0 there. It's carnival time at ER.
