Spring Footer!
We've finally turned the corner into spring. "Spring forward" means that we're still only four hours behind GMT, so the matches are all an hour later than usual, beginning with Spurs v. West Ham at 8:45EST on the Deuce. Of course I'll have my eye firmly on the big one - Leeds traveling to evil rivals Sheffield United looking for three vital points in the Championship. Join me for all the usual Saturday morning LOB banter, lads.

Spurs get us underway at Shite Fart. Come on, you Hammers!
Oh - first chance to Spurs. Michael Dawson with a stylish curler onto the crossbar!
Spurs are really piling on the pressure. I'm not sure that the Hammers can withstand it.
Kick-off time now at Bramall Lane. Here are the teams:
Sheffield Utd: Simonsen, Nosworthy, Lowton, Mattock, Lowry, Doyle, Quinn, Montgomery, Bogdanovic, Vokes, Evans. Subs: Yeates, Aksalu, Cresswell, Kozluk, Bent, Riise, Maguire.

Good Morning BD. Another weekend of EPL action as Cole was nearly in for the Hammers.
We start the day in 5th with 61 points. A win would put us temporarily in 3rd on 64. The Blades start in 21st, mired in the relegation zone.
Do you have a link for the Leeds match?
Morning MUR! Great to have you on board, as usual. How are you?
I don't see any links available. I assume that it's not being televised. I'll catch the highlights later on the "Football League Show."
I agree with Macca - Cole should have done better with that chance. The Hammers aren't likely to have that many clear chances in this match.
Modric goes close....
I have been great How have you been? It is great chatting with you.
Oh - Becchio has a header just wide of the mark.
That was a decent chance for Spurs as VDV shot just wide from the short corner.
Morning fellas. I have been watching the match upstairs but have lost the control of the TV
Good luck Bob against the Blades
Cheers, mate. I'm hanging in there. It's been a really emotional week with my mom sick. But Gooner and I are hanging in. LOB is a nice outlet.
Cole missed another chance for the Hammers.
Morning, UWS! You've got to do something about your control of the household. You are the "paterfamilias" after all.
Oh, Cole, what a tame bloody effort.
Good morning UWS. How have you been?
I have a feeling that "Cole miss" is going to be a feature of our commentary today.
Morning, Lauri! How are you, girlfriend! :-)
Bob, sorry to hear your mother is not well. My best to her, you and Steve.
Did you find a link,Bob. Where are my manners? Good luck at Bramall Lane. However, it's the Blades, so you should win this one.
Cheers, mate. I really appreciate it. We "Old Boys" all have to go through it, right?
Oy, Mate! Stop ogling my wife!
Good morning WHR. Good to see you as the Hammers are playing.
I mean oogling . ..
I mean googling
Haven't found one. I assume that it's not on the telly. I see that the big one in the Championship - Swansea v. Forest has a link later on.
Morning Dave Squared!
Sorry - can't help meself.
Bob, I hope your mom is doing better.
Can't we just elbow Fabio out of the way and install Harry as England gaffer now?
Cheers, mate. She's supposed to come home from the hospital today. I'll be popping off the blog temporarily at noon to have a Skype with her.
Why did Scottie dribble that out? Twice?
That would be great, he is in charge through he Euro 2012 tournament, so we will see him next weekend.
How is your dad coping?
Morning John
Right - England are at Wales. I don't think we have a second match, do we?
Noble is too often giving away free kicks like that . . .
It's really hard for him at his age (87). He's used to my mom taking care of him. I don't think he's been eating or sleeping very well.
The short free kick from Spurs was wasted.
No but the is some stupid friendly!!
Why have a friendly after a real match?
Ba makes a nice run but his shot threatens the peanut salesman more than Gomes.
Just the one match. Group G is not in the action the following Tuesday.
Who's the friendly with?
Still 0-0 at Bramall Lane fifteen minutes in.
I didn't know our dads were the same age.
I was very young when both my parents died VERY young and that was really tough but it doesn't get any easier when they and you are older!
You are correct, Dave. You will love this. England host Ghana the following Tuesday. The U.S. hosts Paraguay at 8 PM that same evening.
Oh - Modric with a nice effort just wide.
Ghana at Wembley on Tuesday 3/29
Yeah, UWS. We've been very fortunate. What happened with your parents was very sad.
Oh - Gradel with a header just wide. We're knocking on the door.
Bob, please make sure that your Dad takes care of himself. Dave, I am very sorry. I lost my dad just over two years ago and it is still difficult for me, especially as I am over 1000 miles away from my family.
Cheers, MUR!
I would love to see Spurs finish above Chelsea
I would love to see West Ham not go down
I don't know who I want to win! I think I am leaning toward the Hammers because I want them to drop all three points against us!
When do you lot play the Hammers?
Cheers MUR
Now lets concentrate on United extending their lead at the top!!!!
Come on you Baggies!
Andy O'Brien goes into Mike Dean's book.
I think we play the Hammers in a few weeks at Upton Park.
April 2 at Upton Park
Nice - a double-header on the Deuce next weekend!
Bloody Gary Speed is in charge of Wales. Is that the best they can do?
We have revenge on our mind from our trip in there in the Carling Cup!
Phew
Oh - how did that stay out! Lennon onto the bar and no one was following in.
I'm ignoring that Gary Speed comment, UWS....
I just checked the calendar. We will have some decisions to make on April 2nd. Our match at Upton Park is the early match, but so is Leeds vs Forest AT THE SAME TIME.
It is the early match on hopefully it will be on ESPN2
I have to go to a fantasy baseball draft that morning!
DAMN IT
I have the TV back!
"Fantasy Baseball Draft," UWS? I ask you!
I made the Gary Speed comment, BD. He is a traitor for being in charge at Brammall Lane. I will not ignore UWS's comment about revenge at Upton Park as Dafoe nearly put Spurs ahead.
Half way through the first half at Bramall Lane - still 0-0. We need a goal. Come on, El Torrero!
What is a fantasy baseball draft?
My apologies, MUR...
So on April 2nd we open with Man United at Hammers and Leeds vs Forest.
Demba Ba shoots straight at Gomes from a difficult angle.
That's the last really big match that we play this season. We've got QPR on the last day of the season, but I'm hoping that it's academic at that point.
Nasty one there by Parker - into the book.
UWS got control of the TV back and now he's gone walkabout.
Scottie is booked for that late challenge Beam him up.
And where did Lauri go? I miss her already! ;-)
VDV shoots at Green from long range . That was a fairly easy save.
Nice save from Kasper!
One minute of stoppage time.
What link did you find Bob?
Fantasy Baseball Draft on March 25 (draft 1), March 26 (draft 2 the one I care about most), and March 27 (draft 3) . . .
The halftime score from Upton Park is 0-0.
I know, I know, I am embarrassed!
I didn't say anything about Gary Speed
All the media is in love with Scotty Parker! "player of the year" I don't think so at all!
Bloody hell - I've just noticed that our old nemesis Richard McGowan is on Facebook!
South Africa beat Bangladesh in the cricket so England are into the Quarter Finals
No link - I'm just following the text feature on LUFC.com.
McGowan is probably still fishing for information about who actually tee-peed his car during senior year. I'll never tell....
Loads of chances for Leed at Bramall Lane but no goals as yet. Snoddy was the latest to come close.
Come on!
I once threw snowballs at a science teacher at Feltwell. Actually , I was one of several students. He was riding his bike through the parking lot during a snow storm.
Was that Mr. Berkey? Must have been - I don't remember Kevin Brynie's dad riding a bike. And he would have got off a bike and thrown some snowballs back at you lot.
After Citeh's loss in the Europa League, the derby Semi is all set for the late game on Saturday April 16
Did you find a link for the Leeds match,Bob. I can't find one.
I don't think there is a link (sigh).
No it wasn't Brynie's dad. He was my cross country coach at the high school. I think his name was Lenhert. I felt guilty as my mom had told me two years later that he passed away from cancer. That sure made me think.
Oh - is that Madrid derby on today? Sounds like one to check out.
Oh, yeah. Gilles Lenhart. He was a squirelly one. Yes - he did die while at Feltwell.
I wonder if it will be our reserves against Citeh's starters. Chelski vs Citeh will be a battle between our Cl and FA cup opponents.
Who was your favorite teacher at Feltwell. Mine was definitely Ms. Dear, although I hated math. She was still a terrific teacher. I think UWS agrees with me.
Still 0-0 at Bramall Lane as that match is in stoppage time.
Ms. Dear was my geometry teacher in 9th grade. I am not sure who my favorite teacher was at Feltwell.
We're back at Shite Fart Lane, then, just as the first half is wrapping up at Bramall Lane.
I keep forgetting that many of the good teachers made the jump up to LHS during that time. Ms. Dear as our 7th grade algebra teacher.
Half time at Bramall. 0-0. Shame about that. I need some goals in the second half.
Absolutely Ms Dear!
I always remember her getting really close to the board and then make a PERFECT circle with the chalk
I remember having over a 100% average and see was grading tests at her desk while we were all there... I was on my way to another 110% on a test and then she took off five points because I didn't put an 'o' at then end of Nocito!!
When does Soccer Saturday start up?
I love having Macca as the color guy - he's a class above the likes of Efan Ekoku or Robbie Mustoe.
That was close by the Hammers
Can you draw a perfect circle on the board, then, Mr. Nocit?
The Hammers nearly punked Spurs there from the kick-off. I feel that that's the only way for them to win this match.
I was watching an FA Cup classic the other day. It was Man Utd vs Wimbledon from 97... it was far from classic. I didn't watch the whole thing but I remember United giving away a last equalizer and we went on to lose the replay... anyway... Effan was playing for Wimbles.... he looked okay but I kept on wanting to critique him every time he made a mistake!
The link on p2p says 15:45, which I think means 10:45am EST, fifteen minutes before the regular 3pm GMT kick-offs start.

Did Ms. Dear think that you forgot to spell your name, Dave?
Modric's pass wasn't brilliant there for Bale
Didn't I just say Noble gives away too many consequential free kicks?
She just want to pick on me and take off a few points! She knew it didn't matter!
That was nasty by Mark Noble. He deserves his booking.
Great save by Green!!!
You couldn't have done that with a backpass by Dempsy??
You always were brilliant at math, UWS. I was hopeless. Just worked my butt off to get through Algebra II with McCarthy and then binned the whole enterprise.
I do agree that Ms. dear was an excellent teacher.
McCarthy was my Algebra II teacher.
There's a bit of trivia. Stevie Nichol - current gaffer at the Revolution - was the last defender to be named Player of the Year.
Favorite teacher at Feltwell: Ms. Dear
Favorite teacher at Lakenheath Elementary: Mr. Kerr
Favorite teacher at Lakenheath High: Mr. Hunter, of course.
I was not good at math until college. I will begin my twentieth year teaching in August despite my earlier difficulties.
West Ham just crossed into T'ham's half!
Del Costa having a crap game with ball at his feet.
Strangely, I can't remember any decent social studies teachers at either Feltwell or Lakenheath.
Defoe is a ball hog
Still thinking about Feltwell.
I was only at the elementary school for one semester.
High school was a tie between Ms. Dear and Mr. Chester
I just named a social studies teacher, Bob.
Yeah - I did enjoy Mr. Chester's Psychology class, I have to admit. And Mr. McCulloch's Government class wasn't bad either, even though he was fairly conservative.
Coach Nelson had a coffee can with a skull painted on it. He had index cards with questions and would randomly draw 20. Those were the test questions.
Sandro is in trouble now. Being helped off the pitch. Should be able to continue, though.
Ms. Sherhouse "taught" social studies with a militant feminist bent.
I agree with you about McCullough. That is why so many former students are begging to keep in touch with him.
I remember that John. She was threatening to give us zeros during a test with that wicked smirk.
I don't remember having much contact with Coach Nelson, since I never played gridiron football at LHS. But he was a big part of my brother's education.
I don't remember many either
Wasn't Cardenzona a SS teacher? He was a nice man and passed me when I had no business passing Spanish 2 but not a good teacher
I had Mr. Nelson (PE teacher) for US History in 10th grade
I always like Mr. McCulloh (sp?) for US Government. He was great with me after my dad died as well
As John mentioned, Mark Noble concedes too many free kicks and was finally booked.
I never had Ms. Sherouse; I don't think she got along with my dad - probably the reason. I had Mr. Grana at Feltwell - total tool.
I always think of Mr. Cardenzana as a Spanish teacher more than a SS teacher, but you're right that he did some. He was a nice guy but not an effective teacher IMHO.
Mr. Cardenzona was my brother's Spanish teacher at Feltwell. My brother told me that Mr. De La Cruz was an excellent teacher. He lives about 40 miles from Harlingen.
Um. . . David . . . Cardenzona was a Spanish teacher.
C'MON YOU HAMMERS!
The second half kicks off at Bramall Lane. We need a goal. Come on!
The second half has kicked off from Bramall Lane.
Yes. He was my brother's Spanish teacher at Feltwell.
I did French rather than Spanish so I had Madame Thompson at Feltwell. She was classic. Don't remember the LHS French teacher...or much of my high school French, for that matter.
Still 0-0 at Bramall Lane.
Oh - Gomes just about keeps Ba out. He's been the main threat for the Hammers.
OOH! Gomes saves well from Demba Ba after a skillful turn. Corner tot the Hammers.
Yes, I had him for Spanish but I also had him for South American History. I remember it well because at the beginning of class he said that Spanish was spoken in most of the countries in South Am. He then said that there were 5 students in the class that were in Spanish 2. He started going around the room and talking to each of them in Spanish. I sank in my chair because I didn't know a word... he came to me and started reciting a dialog from the book. I had memorized those and he knew it... EVERYONE thought I could talk fluently
I just remember you had homework for French... to watch the dirty French films on BBC 2
Mme Thompson was my French / TIE teacher at Feltwell. We went on a filed trip to Yorkshire. Mme Gatineau was my French teacher at Lakenheath. I think she was from Vermont.
My main memory of Mr. Cardenzana was torturing him day after day by unplugging his classroom clock. All he would have had to do is to tell me to stop being a jerk and I would have stopped. But he never did...so I kept doing it.
Yeah - that sounds right. Madame Gatineau. Right you are, MUR.
Lost the TV again to SportsCenter
Classic story, Dave. I never had to watch any films on the Beeb.
Upson was booked for something.
Lovely link for Soccer Saturday... I need it.. i have no TV
http://www.justin.tv/boxingukguru#/w/982322512
I am surprised that you were allowed to get away with that. I learned that my first year of teaching.
Mr. Albert was probably my favorite at LHS. It was great catching up with him at the reunion. I asked him if he still had that super cool Peter Fonda-style suede jacket with the fringe and he got this really sweet, nostalgic look on his face and said, "Yeah...I really loved that jacket." Classic!
BUGGER! The Blades have taken the lead.
Me too. That's just basic classroom management. I wasn't a mean-spirited kid - just immature like many others.
Antonio Valencia is in the starting line up at Old Trafford... I hope Berbatov gets a game!
DId you see the video of SAF laughing at Berbatov behind his back against Marseille
Aaron Ramsey starting for the Gooners
BUGGGGGGGGERRRRRR!
Eric Lichaj, our Yank on loan from Villa, has just scored an own goal.
Blades 1-0 up!
Of course, our next match on the tellie could be a preview of the FA Cup Final!
Right - the lucky Leeds shirt is coming off and the Becchio "El Torrero" shirt is going on.
Mr. ALbert was my cinematography teacher during my senior year. Richard Erwin aka Yellows was my filming partner. We went to Carrow Road to shoot a scene and got to sit on the pitch behind one of the goals. He arranged everything. I think It was an FA Cup third Round match vs Swansea.
We have a social studies on our campus that is a carbon copy of Cardenzona.
How much time left at Bramall Lane?
Fantastic story, MUR. I remember spending most of the time re-creating favorite Monty Python sketches in Mr. Albert's classes.
I was not aware that SAF was snickering at Drac behind his back. Brilliant!
Thirty minutes left at Bramall Lane.
Come on, you Whites!
United's line up
VDS
Brown
Smalling
Evans
Evra
Valencia
Carrick
Giggs
Nani
Rooney
Hernandez
Subs
Kusz
Owen
Berba... what has he done wrong... top scorer in the league
Park
Fabio
Gibson
Gill
About thirty minutes remaining at Bramall Lane.
OKAY... it's official
It's LEEDS TIME
I don't know what Fergie's problem with Drac is. Astonishing!
What's happening at WHL?
I remember Bob and Dave that your group would always talk about Miss Ann Elk on the bus trips. Was that Monte Python or something different?
Cheers, mate! We need it!
Still 0-0 at the Lane.
I had Mr. de la Cruz for Spanish. I learned a lot from him but apparently I also learned with his Mexican accent, as people in college pointed out!
Yeah - "Anne Elk" is a classic Python sketch. As I remember, the Gooner and Mark Enderle did that one and another (maybe "The Fish License?") for a forensics/drama festival during their Senior Year. Good stuff!
Victor Obinna is on for Carlton Cole and Hutton is on for Corluka. Gallas was hobbling.
Anne Elk... that a n n e... not a n
was a Python skit
Morning, Bivalve! Great to have you on board for the teacher reminiscences. Who was your favorite teacher at LHS?
Why, Mr. Allain of course!
I had a ball in Cinematography class my senior year. I vowed to myself that I would take that class when I was in 10th grade staring at kids walking around outside!
Of course, I have to ask.. who was your favorite administrator???
Good morning Bivalve. Mr. De la Cruz was my brother's Spanish teacher.
But if you mean of the teachers I had at Lakenheath, probably Ms. Stubbs for typing.
Is that Feltwell or LHS , Dave?
Come on Leeds.. you don't have to score just one goal but you need two!!
Well.. that's where I put you guys on the spot!!!
Dahlgren or Nocito or someone else
