Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

I am back today after a very busy day of coaching and fathering yesterday. I will be around for the first match but then have to go off to more matches half way through the the Wolves WIN(?)
I am sure MUR will keep me posted on the the happenings
LINE-UPSManchester United v Everton (1230 BST)
Man Utd: De Gea, Rafael Da Silva, Ferdinand, Evans, Evra, Valencia, Scholes, Carrick, Nani, Rooney, Welbeck. Subs: Amos, Jones, Giggs, Smalling, Park, Hernandez, Young.
Everton: Howard, Hibbert, Jagielka, Distin, Neville, Osman, Heitinga, Gibson, Pienaar, Fellaini, Jelavic. Subs: Mucha, Stracqualursi, McFadden, Cahill, Gueye, Barkley, Anichebe.
Referee: Mike Jones (Cheshire)
So, Fergie has kept Young out of the firing line after his diving exploits
I hope Gibson doesn't come back to hurt us
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson tells Sky that Ashley Young was not dropped because of the accusations of diving in recent matches: "Nani has come back to form, he's fresh and think that could make a difference today. Ashley is unfortunate, the press has been over the top because it's Manchester United, it was a penalty kick, there's no doubt about that."
A very good early morning to you, mate. Thanks for the post. I'm here to see United take one more step toward the title.
Morning BD
I HOPE YOU DO!!!
FSC's show has started
COME ON UNITED
Good morning. I'm not optimistic, but this is why the game is played.
Eric Wynalda says this has been a "fantastic" year; "as good as it gets." Do you agree?
Morning, Someone. I'm glad that the Toffees have some representation on the LOB today. Welcome!
Everton getting us underway - both sides in essentially their home colors - red v. blue.
Morning SS
I disagree... not the best season
We're off
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
I thought you might say that. I don't agree either. There have been better United title seasons.
Everton having too much possession for my liking
What do you think of Hernandez not starting again?
He's been a very big disappointment this season.. but I think he is the second highest scorer
Already? We've just started!
Not impressive at all my United
WHY AREN'T THEY GOING ALL OUT
Everton with the first chance!
Nice run... nice save
Then Everton get ANOTHER chance!
Jelavic pulls the first save out of Twilight. He is dangerous.
Crikey - now it's Osman bursting through - just wide!
I know it is early.... but UNITED ARE JUST NOT THAT GOOD!!
It is stunning that they are top
United still in the proverbial dressing room now.
Good early ambition by Everton. Jelavic firing on target that De Gea saves and Osman shooting a bit wide.
And yet they have 82 bloody points - how is that possible?
Rooney looks disinterested again
Do you think he could leave over the summer?
Fergie has actually started subbing him.. I think things have changed
This match is starting like all the matches with United recently... their opponents understanding that they could beat them
What about this idea of Roon representing GB in the Olympics - what a nonsense?
Why are United not UP for this?
It's for the CHAMPIONSHIP!!!
Pathetic
What the hell was that from Valencia... a hoof over his head!!
Ten minutes before the first shot by United.. no where near
Oh - a nice curler from my boy Nani - first chance for United. Just wide.
Good chance by Nani there. U. are opening up some space.
United are too slow!
Another shot by Nani.. this time on target but still weak
In case you haven't notice, this United team drives me nuts!!
Am I expecting too much?
Are they good?
Useless decision from Welbeck.. he could made something there
I do think that your expectations are higher than most football fan's. That said - I can understand your frustration at this side. I think Fergie has got the best out of a United squad that's lacking something right now.
At the same time, I haven't liked Fergie's set-up this year without any out and out strikers, trying to convert the many wingers in your side into front men. Even today, you've got three wingers starting (Welbeck, Nani and Valencia).
Everton do look more dangerous
They look faster going forward
Surely the club will be in the market for a striker and a playmaker this summer. You need someone to play up front either alone or alongside Roon. And Scholes can't play forever!
I agree with you about strikers
All you hear is United getting another winger!
Fabio off on loan next season? What do you make of that?
How many bloody wide men do you need? You've also got Ashley Young. And Pogba, who's not very good.
When this season started.. I was excited. How they played against Arsenal and the first half of Chelsea was breathtaking!
Ever since the early goal from Torres in the second half of the Chelsea match.. United haven't been the same
I know they got 34 out 36 points at one point but it isn't the United way
Good morning lads.I overslept and see that it is 0-0. Great title UWS.It definitely is a big day.
I don't like either of the twins really.
They make too many rash challenges.
Wonder what Rafa will feel like if his brother goes
United struggled in this fixture last season.. at late goal by Hernandez won it
Again.. have United been dangerous at all today?
I agree.I know we are in transition, but we have played a certain way over the years.
Morning MUR
Same old same old from our lot
Morning, MUR! I'm sure that Fergie will forgive you the extra lie in. It is bloody early where you are. At least it isn't 4:30 am, as it was for me last weekend. Cor!
We played this fixture this weekend last year early on, but on Saturday. I remember because I was in Florida for the funeral.
Rooney does not look full of running again.
He admitted last week that he was pathetic... what is wrong with him?
Corner to United
Corner take by Rooney! Straight to keeper
Well, just have a look at some of the players who have been rattling in the goals for the Spanish and Portuguese clubs in the Europa League - one of those lads would do you nicely. And I had heard that Fergie was in for Wesley Sneijder. Bring those two in and you've got another title winning side, IMHO.
It seems like the same old united, UWS.I won't tell SAF that I got some extra kip because he will give me the hairdryer treatment, make me do some military fitness course, then send me on loan to Anzi Makakchakala.
True - after this first half performance - you might get a flying boot in the eye, mate. He won't be happy.
What is up with Sneijder? Does he want to come?
Of course, Inter don't look like they will be in the Champions League next season
I agree, BD. SAF may want to look at La Liga. They are dominating the European club competitions, so they must be doing something right.
I won't tell SAF that I slept in because I had too many Rolling Rocks. I might get more than just a boot to the eye.
People have said that United know what to do at this time of the season... doesn't look like it
Five Live says it is POURING at Molineux..... an equalizer
Bloody useless... I think I am going to stop commentating...I am being too negative
Roon is one of the candidates for PFA Player of the Year. One wonders why. My pick is RVP. Who would you choose?
United old boy , Gobson, shoots just wide from long range.
That should make it all the easier for Sneijder to come. It's also a Euro summer and there are always a few players from the smaller countries who shine on the big stage. It will interesting to see who does the business for the likes of Greece, Poland or Denmark.
Nai crosses to another United old boy in Tim Howard.
I think a Citeh man will get it
Manager of the year HAS TO BE Pardew
Momentum starting to swing toward the home side. Gibson has a bit of a cannon though.
Hard to vote against RVP this season - he does have 27 goals in the Premiership. It's the kind of season that he'd always promised but hadn't delivered for the Arse.
What about Young Player?
I would love to see Wesley Schniejder come to OT. I am not sure about the the players from the other countries.
Is "Gobson" your nickname for Darren now that he's left OT, MUR. Or are you trying to type on the iPad again?
GOAL! Yelavic again! Wow!
Bloody hell
DAMN IT!
JELAVIC SCORES A SUPERB HEADER FROM A SUPERB CROSS BY HIBBERT!
Title to CIteh?
What a header! From an impossible Marco van Basten kind of angle, he popped it back over DeGea into the only area of the goal he could score in. Remarkable header.
0-1 Everton!
JELAVIC! What a header!!!
Scholes shot deflected... great save by Howard
Tim Howard robs Scholes. Lucky save.
Oh - Scholes almost responds immediately with a shot that's deflected through a crowd. Timmy did well to hang onto it.
OH! The corner was headed away and Timmy did well to save a deflected effort form Scholes.
Good morning Someone. If your Toffees win then this title race is wide open.
If the Toffees get anything... the title should be Citeh's
BOOM BOOM , BD. I am typing on a desktop, but I haven't had my morning cuppa. so my typing may be a tad inaccurate.
Man, you guys are harsh on your side this morning.
I agree, UWS. I hope we come from behind like Liverpool did last week.
I still like the nickname "Gobson," MUR.
Was that a penalty?
Raffa went down in the box. Was he fouled? Was it a pen?
We are harsh because this is must win match for United and Everton has been the only motivated side .Fair play to the Toffees.
Just missed control by Scholes!
Bugger
My sentiments entirely, Someone. I suppose one's perspective is different if watching Leeds and the NE Revolution (or Everton and the Crew) on a regular basis.
The Revs have never won any silverware in 16 years of MLS and the last time Leeds won anything, I still had a full head of hair!
YES!!!!!!!!
ROONEY!!!!!!
There. It's level.
Rooney still doesn't look too pleased!
GOAL! That will make you boys happier. Roon responds!
two behind RVP
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!
1-1 AS EVERTON OLD BOY, ROON SCORES WITH A GREAT HEADER FROM A GREAT CROSS FROM NANI.
Super cross over from my boy Nani and Roon scores his 25th goal of the Premiership season - only two behind RVP!
Finally some pace and urgency
That was a strange response from Roon - I suppose it's scoring against his childhood club, right?
Nani makes up for the fact that he failed to back track when Hibbert crossed for that Jelavic goal. Therefore , he is both hero and villain.
SAF should lace up the boots, he's really giving it to the 4th official!
Why was Fergie having a strop
That may be since he has received a fair amount of stick from Toffees fans in the past.
Rooney was in the stands at Goodison earlier this season. Got a pleasant reception. Honestly.
I am not sure. Now you know why I didn't tell SAF about the extra kip and those Rolling Rocks.
I guess that could be the case from Rooney but he sure celebrated enough at Goodison in that 4-2 win quite a few years ago when we came back from 2-0 down to essentially win the league
That is good to hear Someone because he was dropped for a match at Goodison a few seasons back and SAF stated that it was for his own safety. It is great to hear that he is in good standing with Toffees fans.
Two minutes of stoppage time and that famous Fergie stopwatch.
Someone apparently left the chewy nougats out of Fergie's customary half-time Pick 'n' Mix.
Distin fouls Valencia down the right and I am not sure why he is arguing.
The booking is harsh though.
Weak foul on Distin gets him a yellow for dissent.
Uh, blow up ref.
never a foul there ... last chance....bugger
Half time.. still not good enough
Off for a short walkies
I think you got off lightly, MUR. Just don't be having a late night kebab with Rod Stewart.
Half-time!
Welbeck heads just wide after some ping pong action in the box of the free kick and it's 1-1 at the half.
LETS HAVE A BETTER SECOND HALF UNITED!
Will do, BD. I guess Fergie has bigger fish to fry. Enjoy the walkies UWS.See you in the second half , Someone.
Time to get the coffee on. I'm expecting the home side to come out with a bit more motivation in the second half.
A dream result denied.
I am doing the same. Someone. It should be quite a second half.
I saw how this will end for Everton today, last Saturday morning.
Crikey - five titles in six seasons? No wonder you boys are complaining. What a rotten record! ;-}
Another quick start to the half by the Toffees. Free kick chance and now a corner.
Terrible. The franchise must go through the nuclear option!
The Little Neviller getting a nice hand from the OT faithful as he goes to take a throw.
I am back for the second half and know that United ended the half with a flourish and will hope for the same in the second half.
where is UWS? It is only one of the most important matches of the season?
He said he was off for a 'short walkies,' presumably with Shadow.
I am back.. what did I miss?
Nasty clash of heads there between Osman and Evra.
OH NO! A nasty clash of heads between Evra and Leon Osman.
Not a lot, mate. Not a lot.
Osman and Evra bang heads. Ouch!
Welcome back. You did not miss anything other than me arsing you.
United's goal hasn't ignited them?
WHAT WILL IT TAKE?
Wolves to win today... rainy and slippery... need to win to survive!
True - MUR wants you to get the hairdryer, UWS.
We need to win this as Wolves will not help us today. They will be relegated if they fail to defeat Citeh today.
I'm afraid that you're asking a lot out of Wolves. They're dead and buried.
Valencia was great against Blackburn but since then against Wigan and Villa he didn't do much!
I heard Fergie was timing the walk on that famous stopwatch.
Evra can't cross!!!
"United's goal hasn't ignited them."
Why? because they have not scored three in the second half yet?
Sack the board!
Again, he failed to find a man
Rio fouls the Little Neviller after he was tackled by him. Not a nice way to treat an Old Boy.
Do you see United attacking with pace? I don't
A few years back when they were two nil down to Spurs... we scored 4 in no time at all
YES!!!!!!!
GREAT GOAL BY WELBECK
GOAL! Welbeck with a scorcher!
2-1!
There's one.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2-1 UNITED . WHAT A BRILLIANT GOAL BY WELBECK.
Moyes complaining that Pinear was down
The ref did call it back when Evans was hurt
That was a great finish
Some of you should be Mets fans. You'd understand the sublime achievement of snatching loss from mediocrity.
That's improved Fergie's mood appreciably.
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
Go for the jugular!!!!
United was not obligated to put the ball out of play. Well done United. It was hard for the ref to see after the action in the box.
United fans are like Yankees fans - the sense of entitlement is always palpable.
COME ON UNITED!!!
SCORE MORE GOALS!
Why are most of United's goals lately controversial?
There was no reason to stop the play there but he did in the first half!
Great analogies, BD and Someone.
Exactly BD. I know all about Yankee fans :)
I agree. I must have been asleep when he stopped play, but I didn;t see anything wrong with the goal./
That second goal seems to have unleashed the attacking monster in United.
3-1 Nani!
Told ya!
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BOB'S BOY NANI!!!!!!
Great move
I've seen this Everton film before.
YESSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!
3-1 UNITED AND NANI SCORES WITA SUBLIME FINISH.
A superb assist by Welbeck and great pass from Carrick.
This is more like it!!
This is how they should have come out of the blocks!!
Welbeck has a shot deflected for a corner after being put through by Valencia.
I want another one!
I don't want to have Everton score one and then it is squeaky bum time again
Suddenly the floodgates have opened and the scoreline in the end could be anything. I can't tell you how often I've read through your comments on a day when I've missed the United match and read nothing but negative stuff and looked at the scoreline and seen something like 4-0.
I agree. A win here and a win at Etihad equals another EPL title.
Of course you want another one.
(See: entitlement).
Here comes the cavalry, oh wait it's McFadden.
Don't compare me to a Yankee fan... I hate the Yankees!
I am loving every minute of United's success but I am not taking it for granted... remember... I lived in England when Liverpool were winning EVERYTHING and United wind a cup or two!
James McFadden is on for Osman. I know he can produce something out of nothing, but this surprises me as he has been a huge disappointment for Everton.Do you agree Someone?
On another subject, why isn't David Moyes in the frame for the England job? Despite this result, he seems to get a lot out of a modest group of players.
This is how United should be playing
"A tempo that Everton can't cope with"
I don't think you could get a Scot to take over the England job.... they hate England!
Do you think Moyes will go to Old Trafford?
That is what I was thinking UWS. I remember the lean days when United were a mid table team that won a cup once every five years. I don't want to go back to that.
McFadden had some good matches and stretches with Everton. Then he was sold to Birmingham and damaged his knee. He really has not been the same player since. Moyes once again is blinded by loyalty to his past.
BUGGER!!
I TOLD YOU
What kind of defending was that... someone ducked!
GOAL! What a cracker from Hair Bear on the volley!
3-2 Game on!
A Scot would never be in contention for the England job.
DAMN IT . HAIR BEAR PULLS ONE BACK FOR THE TOFFEES . A GREAT FINISH FROM ANOTHER HIBBERT CROSS.
rio didn't go for the ball and Evans should have been in HairBear's shorts
United are going to shrivel again
United look nervous again!
I would bet on Nani as he let Hibbert get free for that first goal.
It was a Hibbert cross over. Evra hasn't been getting close enough to him all match. And Fellaini met it superbly on the volley. Still not quite sure why Moyes chooses to use him as a defensive middie.
Pinear almost in
COME ON UNITED
Well chalk one up for Hair Bear!
Moyes has Velios, Duffy and Barkley playing reserve matches and refuses to give them any top flight experience over the fading skill of a Cahill, Saha (before sent away) and Mcfadden.
Well this is getting interesting.
Great save by De Gea from Pienaar.
I don't see why - if England can hire a Swede or an Italian, why not a Scot? It's an international game now.
Weak shot by Rooney but do you see how United's attack there was pedestrian and then got a shot... look what they did five minutes
Great point Someone. His judgement has been superb in the past. Don't forget Stracq.
YES!!!!!!!!
ROOONEYYYY!!!
GOAL! Rooooooon! 26 goals!
Goal by Rooney, more to come.
PLEASE DON'T LET ANY MORE GOALS IN!!
YESSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!
ROON SCPRES A BRACE AND ITS 4-2 UNITED.GREAT RUN AND CROSS FROM WELBECK
