Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

A very super Sunday to you, MUR. Thanks for posting our thread this morning. I'm really looking forward to a spectacular double feature this morning, starting with Chelski and the Arse at the Bridge.
Here is the team news out of the Bridge, and there are some shockers:
Chelski - Cech, Azpilicueta, Ivanovic, Cahill, Cole, Ramires, Lampard, Mata, Hazard, Oscar, Torres. Subs: Turnbull, Ferreira, John Terry, Bertrand, Ake, Marin, Ba
Arsenal - Szczesny, Sagna, Mertesacker, Vermaelen, Gibbs, Coquelin, Wilshere, Diaby, Cazorla, Walcott, Giroud. Subs: Mannone, Koscielny, Jenkinson, Santos, Frimpong, Ramsey, Arshavin
Referee - Martin Atkinson
The big choice there from Rafa is Torres on the pitch from the start and Ba - who has scored in each of his starts for Chelski - on the bench. Arsene must be delighted.
Good morning, BD. A super Sunday to you too.I was glad to post the thread . Do you like the mention of Shite Fart Lane?
Looks like it's a winter wonderland in London today, some lovely big flakes of snow falling on the teams as they warm up.
US too. Raffa makes some really curious decisions. Also, will Theo play well now that he has signed a new contract or will he revert back to his old ways?
It was yesterday too. The girls and I were watching Newcastle vs Reading yesterday when it really was a winter wonderland and they told me to tell you that your twin was managing Reading. I was the instigator.
Is that London or Fred Town. What would we do without under soil heating?
Hey Boys
i am hear as the teams come out of the tunnel
Great to hear the crowd noise, but of course the numpties will mute it by kickoff
Good morning UWS. Great to have you hear for a super, snowy Sunday
Morning, lads - Chelski get us underway here.
They're off from sonowy Stamford Bridge.
COME ON YOU GUNNERS
cHELSEA WITH THE FIRST CHANCE AS lAMPS IS WELL OF TARGET
The snow's in London today - it's still mild and dry here in WNY.
Raffa must have thick blood as he is in merely a suit on a cold , snowy day
Mild and dry in Harlingen too. It's supposed to be sunny and in the 70s today and every day through next Saturday
Looks like Torres has responded to his start today with a prison camp haircut. He's fouled out wide left.
Do you like Fernandos barnet
Never a pen. Oscar should be booked for diving.
Diaby hasn't learned from Koz's red card from last week. A rugby tackle on Oscar in the area. Could have been given.
I have not looked at the Barnet. Now I am curious.
I don't know why people with hair want to razor it off like that. I wouldn't, if I had the choice.
I don't know why people with hair want to razor it off like that. I wouldn't, if I had the choice.
I thought the one from Kos was more clear cut, but a good point, BD.
Oh - Giroud drags his shot wide. Big chance!
OH! Just wide by Giroud as he was put through by Theo. He should have scored.
Giroud seems to be improving in terms of getting into good positions but his scoring to chances ratio is still far to low.
GOAL! Mata shows Giroud how it's done!
BUGGER!!!!
THE SPANISH CONNECTION AS AZPILCUIETIA PUTS MATA THROUGH AND HE SCORES WITH A GREAT FINISH
oh dear... the Arse miss a chance and then Mata buries it!
Arsenal is livid as he wanted a foul for the challenge of Ramires on Coq au Vin. However, they played on and Sagna was caught ball-side as Mata raced through and socred with aplomb.
1-0 Chelski!
Was Coq Au Vin fouled by Ramires when Arsenal; lost the ball. A foul would have been called and the goal would not have stood. Arsene and Gooner will feel aggrieved,.
I did notice that Sagna was well out of position .Poor defending
You two nervous nellies surely can't be worried about Chelski - they're 13 points back on you lot!
Pushed around the post by Cech off a long range effort from Carzola.
No need to worry... Chelsea were two up at half time against Southampton and Desmond still managed to arrive
Cech catches the corner from Theo
I just don't want to take anything for granted.
Cashley being booed by the away fans on his home ground. Wow!
Did you hear that crowd there? I clearly heard someone calling someone a wanker!
Glad that FSC hasn't drowned out
Seudio pushes away a shot from Hazard from a narrow angle as the Arsenal defense was ball watching
Are you worried about Stoke as well?
Both teams are getting some shots!
Lamps... off the post.. offside anyway
ONLY JUST
Yeah - I heard it: "Wilshere, you wanker!"
The corner wasn't cleared and Lamps volleyed wide when he should have scored.
Some big chances at both ends - we could get a cricket score here today!
Missed the crowd noise because we have some in our living room. I am worried about Stoke. Worried that they may injure our players with rugby tackles and that wee Mickey may injure a fan with a goal attempt
Both teams look like scoring every time they go forward
That was a definite foul for the goal
Still... could have defended better to stop the goal
Just saw the Torres Barnet. Has he been assigned a prison cell and a numero?
Eagle Ears!!
I missed the Wilshire
well stated, UWS. Both statements are true.
Oscar vollyed over as a cross from Azpielcuietia was not cleared
I wonder what Gooner and Mr. D have to say about the goal?
Penalty to Chelski as Sussudio brings Ramires down!
Sussudio gets a yellow - the right decision.
Lamps to take...scores!
2-0!
PENALTY CHELSEA AS SEUDIO BROUGHT DOWN MATA IN THE BOX . THE ARSENAL DEFENSE WERE CAUGHT SQUARE AS ABU DIABY LOST THE BALL IN MIDFIELD. A STONEWALL PEN.
GOAL!!! 2-0 AS LAMPS SENDS SEUDIO THE WRONG WAY FROM THE SPOT
As BD stated, Seudio was correctly booked. The correct decisions from Martin Atkinson.Really easy decisions
I'm sure that there is a whole lot of griping going on at Paul Springs Retirement home right now.
Arsene is already getting his excuses listed for the post-match presser.
For once, Mata puts in a poor cross, to the relief of Mr. Wenger
Bloody hell.. I missed another goal dealing with the dog!
did you notice that both goals had something in common???
Arsenal were easily dispossessed in midfield and caught square at the back
One thing that there is no doubt about - Chelski are ripping apart this fragile Arse defense.
When Arsene said it's raining it's pouring the Chelsea fans said it's snowing you bloody wanker
Can't you just bung Shadow out the backyard?
The FSC crew were stating something about Arsene being ripe for the sack for not spending enough. I disagree. He's like a tenured teacher. Untouchable.
Carzola wins a corner.
Useless cross there.. are we watching United??
Cech catches the corner from Theo
I never really listen to the FSC blokes anyway
Mata immediately wins a corner off of Seudio
Chelski nearly got through again - like a hot knife through soft butter today.
Sparky , like the Arsenal back four, is an RVW.Did Shadow need something collected ?
I agtee.. it looks like Chelsea could score on every attack
I agree with you too. The only way that Arsene gets moved out of the way is into an executive position at the club. That's even if Arsenal don't qualify for Europe this season, which is a distinct possibility.
The girls are up and cooking breakfast. I think it's cinnamon rolls.
Shadow woke me up at 4:30 this morning to pee... this was just me standing at the door for a poop and pee
wouldn't that make Arsene a manager Emiritus?
The same thing happened to us at 6:30 yesterday morning, but it was accompanied by barking too.
With this type of performance, Chelsea still scare me!
I think they will beat Swansea for the League Cup final spot
Arsenals defending and midfield play is really a hazard!
I think Swansea are through because they are not conceding many at the moment. I think Villa have better chance of reversing the deficit
Ah - great ball through from Mata to Cole who nodded it back in the danger area but Torres was napping as usual.
I just discovered why Arsene was not given gardening leave.
I hope you're right but I fear a Chelsea hammering. We did all see how Swansea were in their FA Cup match against the Arse.. schoolboy defending
A couple of glimmers of hope for the Arse but they're quickly snuffed out by Ivanovic.
Do we want to know? I fear not
Catch the bloody ball
Even then they only conceded one goal and Chelsea need three on the road. It's a big deficit to overcome and Chelsea were not exactly solid vs the Saints in Adkins last match in charge
I think both Chelski and Villa have a chance to get back into it. Villa weren't terrible yesterday.
Probably not. It's not G rated, but we have lived in Europe , so we should be used to it
Useless by Walcott.. should never have been offside there.. plus he missed controlled it anyway!
Arsene was denied gardening leave because his wife told the board that
________ . Fill in the blank
Ramires finds row z as the Arsenal back four were RVWs again.
Rameires should have done better there!
Again.. do i want to know!
...he was shagging Fergie!
Sagana goes down with cramp. a non contact injury, so it may be serious
What a terrible image BD!!
LOL!
It is that the hedges didn't need trimming.
THINK GARDENING!
Sorry, UWS.
BD has a good point. Wenger and Fergie get together for a glass of wine after United meet Arsenal.
A lull has crept into this game - it's been too easy for Chelski, so they've taken the foot off the gas.
Is Podolski injured?
Wallcott impersonating Hernandez
Sure - there could be some drinking involved. Are you suggesting that Fergie needs his "hedges" clipped? I'm not sure that he's much on "manscaping."
It sure has. Not sure about Poldi. Time for Wenger to goon gardening leave or not?
BOOM, BOOM,BD
He must be - he's not on the bench and Ping Pong is.
Useless Chelsea corner and useless Arsenal clearance.
The Gunners look more prepared for some Bovril than a footie match
I just got back from barfing after your last comments!!!!
I'd need some Bovril in this kind of weather!
I think the Chicha impersonation is part of the terms of the new contract
LOL - you're welcome, UWS!
Oh dear - Torres with a chance and completely shanks it into the Shed End.
Horrible shot from Prison boy after a horrible headed Arsenal clearance.
Lucky for Arseanl.. the ball falls to Torres... I think the ball stayed in the stadium
Same here, UWS.
One minute before Bovril. Thankfully it's too warm for that Harlingen
Theo's in...no, offside again.
Halftime and Chelsea lead 2-0 and it was far too easy for Raffa's boyz.
Shocker... Walcott is offside
Half time
Not good for Arsenal... remember Sotton though
Half-time - 2-0 Chelski
The color guy thinks that Arsene will make one or two changes at half-time. I predict he'll do nought.
As you know, I am not a Walcott fan.
I don't know why such a big deal was made about signing Walcott. They're not going to win a championship with him as their linchpin.
I dont' think he belongs in the middle either. He's not good enought. How can he demand to play in the middle!
I would put him wide... as the ink is drying!
Aussie Open
Djokovic is tied at 9-9 in the final set!
BTW, I spent three hours on Skype with me Bruv yesterday.. it was great. I just put Tom's laptop toward the TV and he watched the game as we talked.. brill
It is almost 1:30 in the morning in Melbourne
10-9
PITCH INSPECTION- Tottenham v Man Utd (1600 GMT)
Tottenham on Twitter: "There will be a pitch inspection by the referee at 1450 GMT. We will have a further update for you as soon as possible after that time."
The late match may not go ahead!!!
10-10
11-10 #1 seed
Did you guys see that Cisse has buggered off from Loftus Road?
He gone off to Qatar on loan.. I guess Arry didn't like is hairdo
The second half underway form The Bridge.
Away we go for the second half.. let's have another Southampton please
Bob was right.. no changes from Wenger
So Craig Burley is shocked that Arsene hasn't made any changes. I'm right, he's wrong - why aren't I on FSC?
I think Djbril's antics were. like Harry, getting old, but it may have been the Barnet too
From the Beeb
White Hart Lane is about 20 miles from Stamford Bridge - and the snow is much heavier in Tottenham. That pitch inspection is coming up at 1450 and I reckon it will be touch and go. Will Sir Alex Ferguson want to play the game?
a missed chance from Mert.. hit the third post
Oh - Mert had an early chance there but scooped it into Cech's arms.
Good save by Cech from Mertesacker.
I figured that Wenger wouldn't make any changes.
TOO BLOODY STUBBORN
Match point for Djokovic.. was 40-15 down and then is ad on a let court.. saved
Theo hit the third post.
Oh - Walcott was in there to give us more evidence that UWS is right. A soft finish.
The weather in Halringen is perfect for tennis. We should host a tournament
Useless effort by Walcott again.. i refer to my previous comment
None of the managers make changes at half-time any more. They all wait for the 60th minute regardless of the score.
Another match point for the world number 1
I completely agree with what UWS said about Theo, Arsenal, and the new contract.
I'm up for a spot of tennis - not watching it, but playing it.
Brilliant that you and Tony were ale to skype and watch footie together. Brilliant! How is Tony?
Saved again... game point
If the late one is called off, I'm heading back to Bedfordshire - had a late night last night.
PITCH INSPECTION - Tottenham v Man Utd (1600 GMT)
Mike Riley, the general manager of the Professional Game Match Officials, told PremierLeague.com: "There are two main considerations to make when conducting a pitch inspection: player safety and the match as a spectacle.
"A referee has to consider whether the playing conditions threaten the well-being of the players and whether they compromise the match as a spectacle for the fans."
Harlingen would be the place to come.Perfect conditions for the next week!
Giroud is down for some treatment now.
He's doing well
He works at a carpet shop in Mildenhall... right next to the Indybindy place.. did you know there is a second fish and chip shop there too!
His boss is a season ticket holder at WHL
Tottenham v Man Utd (1600 GMT)
I'm looking at a live feed from White Hart Lane and there is a lot of snow on the pitch now. Conditions seem to be getting worse
I sure hope the late one is not cancelled , but I am all for player safety. I would look a right numpty for posting the graphic and Shite Fart Lane remark if the match is postponed.
Nice boss to have!
I did not know about the second shop. Rather interesting. I am not familiar with the carpet shop. Tony's boss supports the wrong team, Glad he's doing well.
Match point #3... second serve... GAME SET AND MATCH after a great rally
1-6 7-5 6-4 6-7 12-10
Last of the tennis updates
Thank goodness for that!
Agreed, BD. How is it that the match at Stamford Bridge is on, but not at Shite Fart Lane just a few miles away. Aren't the conditions similar?
There can't be that much difference in two parts of London!
I am fearing the worst for this match
Was the tennis tournament in Halringen?
Oh dear - Giroud misses another big chance. Not his day.
GOAL! Theo earns his corn!
II don't see any problems with this match.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!
THEO SCORES AS IT IS PEGGED BACK TO 2-1
GOAL... WALCOTT STAYS ON SIDE.. NICE FINISH... STILL DON'T RATE HIM... GAME ON
Torres coughed up the ball there and from that point on Chelski were in trouble, playing too high up the pitch as Theo raced through and scored easily.
2-1! Game on!
The fragile Coq au Vin has gone off to be replaced by Aaron Ramsey. Like for like.
Torres did what the Arsenal midfield did in the first half. Cough up the ball in midfield and Theo was superbly put through by Carzola. Just like the first Chelsea goal
That's Theo's 9th Premiership goal of the season. You may not rate him but he's far and away Arsenal's leading scorer.
I agree with that change. Will Arsenal do what Sotton did on Wednesday? COME ON DESMOND . MOVE YOU ARSE TO HELP THE ARSE!
Much more positive from the Arse this half. Theo on the end of that pass as well. He's looking lively.
Weak effort from Walcott
Tottenham v Man Utd (1600 GMT)
Pitch inspection taking place at White Hart Lane. Sir Alex Ferguson and Tottenham coach Steffen Freund are discussing matters with the officials.
Sir Alex has a woolly hat on and it appears to be all smiles so far. What that means I'm not sure.
A feeling of deja vu?
It is Sotton all over again
Sounds like the match is on!
Spurs groundsman Darren Baldwin is having his say. Some earnest faces now. Hand gestures, the lot
Great to hear, UWS.
I don't think it will go ahead
Tottenham v Man Utd (1600 GMT)
Still in the centre circle, still talking.
Oh, the officials leave the centre circle, off on a walkabout
Walcott picks up a foul off Cashley there. Dangerous position.
Cashley called for a foul on Theo just outside the box.
Mata booked for kicking the ball away
Mata in the book... he kadumphs it away after Arsenal get a free kick... WELL DESERVED
Free kick hits the heads in the wall.. corner
The free kick from Carzola is deflected for a corner.
The corner is headed out for a throw
If the game goes ahead at WHL, would spurs change their kit to a dark color because of the snow?
The hand gestures at SFL are not a good sign. Elizabeth went off to Bedfordshire too
1452:
Tottenham v Man Utd (1600 GMT)
Decision imminent.........
Some serious groundwork going on - snow being cleared. Join the dots
Oh - really poor from Torres. Ran it straight into Sussudio's arms.
Great to see it was Prison Boy on the break but no escape as he miss controlled.
