Early Morning Footer - Lambs to the Slaughter Edition
I'm up early to watch what could well be one of the more lop-sided fixtures of the season. It's Liverpool with a Luis Suarez currently in unplayable form scoring goals for fun against an unsettled Cardiff City who gave manager Malky Mackay the message to either resign or be sacked. Join me this morning to see the goals fly in.

Good morning Bob. I am here to join you on Jacquelyn's birthday. How have you been?
There is an early Championship match at Loftus Road as QPR are hosting the Foxes and it's 0-0 twenty minutes in.
Morning. I'm at work with too many files down for maintenance, but there is stuff to do.
Talksport is not cooperating for me either.
Hoping for an upset.
Morning, lads! And a very happy birthday to Jacquelyn!
And there's Talksport.
Celtic and Hearts are scoreless
Good morning Someone. I am also hoping for an upset. Hope you can find a link. I usually access Firstrowsports.
Good morning . Ta, Bob. we will have a birthday party at the park later today on an extremely windy morning.
That bloody awful song is playing from Anfield as Cardiff look like Blue Birds today.
The teams now coming out at Anfield:
Pool - Mignolet, Johnson, Skrtel, Sakho, Flanagan, Allen, Lucas, Henderson, Sterling, Suarez, Coutinho.
Cardiff - Marshall, Theo, Caulker, Turner, Taylor, Mutch, Medel, Noone, Gunnarsson, Whittingham, Odemwinge.
They're off from Anfield.
And we're away at Anfield with Chrissy Waddle and Steve Banyard doing the favors.
All I need is the audio, and I have that now. The local save files, another issue entirely.
Cardiff aren't able to wear red today for obvious reasons, so they're true Bluebirds for a change.
I was surprised to see that Malcolm's job is in jeopardy. Poor by Mr. Tan He should sack Malcolm rather than threaten him and create unrest amongst the players.
Liverpool right onto the front foot. Ominous signs for Cardiff. Suarez has a half chance on the volley that hits the side netting.
OH! The Cardiff goal was being bombarded and Suarez volleyed inches wide.
It appeared that Brendan was offering Malcolm advice and encouragement just before kickoff. Classy by Brendan.
I think it was a mistake for Mr. Tan to go public . He should have threatened Malcolm privately.
Cardiff have a couple of decent minutes there through Noone and Mutch.
I agree with you, mate. Classy from Brendan - not so much from Mr. Tan.
Nice long ball from Henderson to Sterling. He dummied Taylor then passed to Suarez , whose shot was blocked , then Coutinho sliced horribly wide.
Cardiff win a corner off of Flanagan.
This whole resign or you get fired is so ridiculous. And so far it looks like neither has happened, just a bit of posturing.
Maybe Tan will take over at the half if suarez gets a hat trick.
Turner heads on the corner from Whittingham , then a foul is called on Odemwingie.
Nice, Someone. Funny and possibly true.
LOVELY JUBBLY! Jaime Vardy has given the Foxes the lead at Loftus Road late in the first half.
Nice Counter by Cardiff and Mignolet pushes away a shot from Nooone. Not much of a header from the corner as Mutch heads well wide.
Suarez has a shot deflected for a corner off a pass from Coutinho.
The corner from Coutinho is headed away and Sterling has a shot blocked
QPR and Leicester now tied on points at the top - only two goals between them.
All hands to the pump already for the Bluebirds.
Celtic/Hearts are scoreless at the half.
Anyone having trouble accessing the bbc football website? This is not my morning here!
In a top vs bottom clash Celtic are being held 0-0 at the half by Hearts. Someone will be hoping for a better second half from the hoops.
Sorry Someone. Hopefully, you will have better access .
Halftime at Loftus Road and the Foxes are. QPR's unbeaten league record at Loftus Road is in jeopardy.
Cardiff have done well to keep Pool out for twenty minutes or so.
If the Foxes win at Loftus Road then Burnley could go top with a win vs Blackpool later this morning.
GOAL !!! POOL TAKE THE LEAD AND NO GUESSES AS TO WHOM SCORED. SUAREZ WITH HIS 17TH PREM GOAL OF THE SEASON.
GOAL! Well, it had to happen. Suarez blasts home his 17th goal in the Prem on the full volley!
1-0 Pool
It had to happen, eh MUR?
A fantastic volley by Suarez that came out of nothing . a pass from Suarez was blocked , then made out to the left to Henderson, whose great cross was superbly volleyed home by Suarez.
I have to agree with Banyard and Waddle that Henderson has been given a new lease of life with Stevie G. injured.
It was inevitable. I would like to mention that Henderson has had a much improved season. Kudos to him for his part in the goal.
A great set piece opportunity for Cardiff.
It was actually a great free kick from Whittingham , but Caulker did not make the proper connection. Mignolet started a speedy counter with a long throw. Fortunately for Cardiff, it came to nothing.
Bob may be interested to note that BEIN is televising BRUM vs Forest at 10 AM.
Oh - Coutinho hits the Sunday Roast after a lovely turn off the short corner. UWS would not approve.
OH! Great trickery from Coutinho , then he hits the post from a very acute angle.
Well , it was a success ,so why not.
Short free kick from Henderson to Flanagan and his cross is headed just over by Skrtel. Are you watching, UWS?
Celtic/Hearts back underway in Glasgow.
Fulham vs Citeh will be televised at 10 AM on NBCSN and Brum vs Forest at the same time on BEIN. No late match today.
I am sure that it was not a pleasant halftime talk from Neil Lennon.
Flanagan had a shot cleared off the line as the Cardiff goal is under siege.
Oh - now it's Sterling who pulls a great save out of Marshall.
Sterling is put through by Suarez and David Marshall superbly pushed his shot away.
Now Johnson is put through and he overruns it as Marshall greatfully gathers.
Skrtel deservedly booked for a foul on Mutch on the break.
GOAL !!! 2-0 AS CARDIFF WERE EASILY SLICED APART ON THE COUNTER FROM A LONG BALL BY HENDERSON TO SUAREZ , WHO BEAT THE OFFSIDE TRAP. HE PLAYED PROVIDER FOR ONCE AS STERLING EASILY TAPPED HOME FROM CLOSE RANGE.
GOAL! Liverpool go two up after a nice out ball from Henderson to Suarez who is unselfish and plays in Sterling for the goal.
Mutch is injured and that's the last thing Malcolm needs.
So, who is the next manager of the Bluebird/Dragons?
GOAL! Oh - what a goal! You won't see a better curler than that!
3-0!
GOAL !!!! 3-0 AND WHAT A DELIGHTFUL CURLING FINISH OUT OF NOTHING AS FALNAGAN WAS PLAYED DOWN THE LEFT AND HE PASSED TO SUAREZ. HE CURLED WHAT LOOKED A SPECULATIVE EFFORT INTO THE FAR BOTTOM CORNER . WHAT A GOAL.
A minute of stoppage time.
Halftime and Pool lead 3-0 as Suarez has a brace of goals and an assist. Malcolm 45 minutes away from the sack?
Half-time - 3-0. It's gone exactly as I'd predicted. What on earth does Mackay do at half-time other than get in his car and drive home?
It can be any worse than the actual team talk. Surely Mr. Tan will sack him after the match. Who will be the next manager of the Red Dragons?
Bond villain Mr. Tan won't be happy with that first half. I expect Mackay to walk the plank this evening.
Commons scores for Celtic. 1-0.
Well done, Kris.
Kris Commons has given Celtic the lead vs Hearts.
The second half is underway and Pool attack from the off, winning a corner that is cleared , then Sterling shoots just wide.
Lambs to the slaughter.
Silence of the Lambs?
Malcolm about to make a double substitution.
Here goes. Kim for Odemwingie and Frazier Campbelll, the former United trainee, for Medel. Gary Kelly on for Flanagan, who gets a standing ovation.
I'm off to take my dad out for some last-minute holiday shopping. I may or may not be back for the late one.
GOAL !!! MUTCH HEADS IN A FREE KICK FOR CARDIFF.
Cheers Bob. Not sure if I will be around for the late one either.
Cheers Bob. Not sure if I will be around for the late one either.
Frazier Campbell had won a free kick as he was fouled by Glen Johnson and a great in swinging free kick from Whittingham was headed home by Mutch. Brendan will not be pleased that it was a free header,
Cardiff win a corner off of Lucas. Headed wide by Andrew Taylor.
Joey Barton gets a red card.
Celtic/Hearts in injury time. Still 1-0.
Cardiff trying to make a match of it.
Campbell wins a free kick off of Lucas by the corner flag. The free kick is headed backward, but Cardiff keep possession.
Suarez concedes a free kick and Mignolet does well to gather a free kick from Whittingham.
Forrest nets one in injury time to give Celtic the 2-0 win.
Lovely news from Loftus Road. A true Christmas vacation for Joey Barton.
It must have been at the very end because it is now a final at Celtic Park as the Hoops win 2-0. You must be pleased.
QPR lose their first home match of the season as the Foxes win 0-1 at Loftus Road. Burnely ill go top if they defeat Blackpool later this morning.
16 game unbeaten streak in the league for Celtic. To be honest the lack of competition in the SPL is very boring. It's a shame the league is so poor.
Leicester beats QPR.
Noone wins a corner off of Kelly from a pass by Whittingham/
A scramble in the box off the corner and Lee Probert breaks up a skirmish. Sterling booked for a foul.
The replay showed that Skrtel rugby tackled Caulker in the box off the corner and surely Cardiff should have had a penalty
Agreed Someone,. Sad, but true about the SPL.
Johnson wins a corner off of Theophile Catherine.
A wasted corner.
OH! Sterling was off tot the races from a long ball as Marshall did well to block one on one and Suarez had the rebound cleared off the line.
Sterling wins a corner off o fo Andrew Taylor.
Joe Allen heads well over off the corner from Coutinho.
Cornelius on for Gunnarsson as the Dane is on for the Icelander. The final roll of the dice from Malcolm. His last ever for Cardiff?
Suarez curls an effort wide on the counter off another great pass from Henderson.
Liverpool bring on a Dane of their own as Agger is on for Coutinho.
Morning Boys
Sorry I am late arriving... I actually had a little lie in this morning!
I also don't have the TV right now... Jon beat me to it
Sterling wins a loose ball in midfield and puts Suarez through as his shot is easily saved by Marshall.
Good morning UWS. You must be delighted to be on vacation.
Four minutes of stoppage time./
DId you see the news that David Coleman died at the age of 87
He covered 11 Olympic Games and 6 World Cups
He presented Grandstand, Sportsnight and of course A Question of Sport
He was the number one commentator for the Beeb until the mid 70s before he went behind the desk
I just remember his style of announcing the score as a goal is scored
One-Nil
Two-One
Memories!
Liverpool top of the table , but that is subject to change this weekend.
LUV IT.... SIXTEEN DAYS OFF... THE LONGEST POSSIBLE!v
Thanks for the update. I was not aware of that and for some reason thought he was about ten years younger. a sad loss.
That's it ! Liverpool win 3-1 and will Malcolm still be in a job?
Well done, UWS. Sixteen days for me and eighteen for the girls.
I do feel sad when all these names from my youth start dying.
David Coleman and Tony Gubba have both gone
A picture is worth a thousand words. Becky has stated that Malcolm will be sacked later today and the look on Malcolm's face says it all. Cardiff fans want him to stay, but Mr. Tan, presumably, disagrees.
I think Tony was last year. I completely agree with you.
I was looking at people that have died this year and Tony was on that list
I'lll look it up
March 11, 2013

Cardiff stay after the match, protesting against Vincent Tan.

I predict that it will bean all Manc League Cup Final.
