Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Footie Trivia Question of the Week

Okay, chaps - with the international break breathing down on us this week, I thought it might be appropriate to lob an international-themed trivia morsel out at you:

"Name the top international goalscorers for the following national sides (bonus points if you can also list the number of goal each has scored!):

England (easy one, eh?) -
Germany -
Italy -
Spain -
Netherlands -
France -
Portugal -

Good luck!

I'll start with Gerd Mueller for Germany and Sir Booby Charlton for England with 49 goals.

Spot on, MUR - you've got the first two on the list. Btw, as a true statto, you'll enjoy this. Gary Lineker is still #2 for England with 48 goals. However, tied with Wayne Rooney on 44 goals in third place is that perennial top striker "O.G." Yes - an own goal has been scored in England's favor once every 43 matches. One of these days, I suspect that O.G. will overtake Sir Bobby (and perhaps Sir Wayne?) as the top GBB.

I've just double-checked my stats and you are not quite correct with the German top scorer. Try again on that one - the record was recently broken.
