The 2015/2016 Season Starts Here!
Are you ready for some football, lads?! Well, I'm up at the crack of dawn to ring in the new season. For the first time in my memory, all of the domestic leagues are starting in earnest on the same day, which adds an extra element of excitement to the morning. We start in about an hour with two police enforced early, early kickoffs in the Championship, including my beloved kicking off at the sacred Elland Road against Burnley. That's followed quickly with United's opener against Spurs. At 10am, we get a look at all three newly promoted sides. Finally, the titleholders kick off at 12:30 at Swansea. Join me for all the action this morning.

Good morning, lads - the weird hunting show has ended and I'm now enjoying the Premiership preview show on NBC Sports Network.
Good morning. I've been up all night with a hooting child. May be in and out, but mostly out. Looking forward to the 10AM match on the USA Network.
Morning, Someone. All the best of luck to the Toffees this season.
I'm enjoying the Men in Blazers preview show with the Two Robbies now. Good to have the boys back.
So here's my thinking about the top sides going into the season.
Chelsea - have not improved; they'll be looking to retain their title using the same defensive Mourinho methods.
City - if anything, have lost a step, with the loss of Jamie Milner. I don't expect ether Sterling or Falcao to bed in.
Arsenal - big improvement, especially in the keeper department.
United - a big question mark; they look light up front, with only Rooney and Wilson to lead the line. How will the new boys start?
Spurs - another big question mark; can Harry Kane have another big season?
Liverpool - another big question mark; Rogers has spent big but that's no guarantee. Benteke has been ropy in the past.
Oooh - I'd love one of those pies that the Men in Blazers are tearing into right now. Lovely.
We're live now on NBC Sports. Rebecca Lowe and the boys are back!
I'm really looking forward to the new looks Leeds United. We've shifted some of the dead wood (e.g., Steve Morison, Rudy Austin) and brought in some tasty new signings.
* Chris Wood - a big chunk up front who featured in Leicester's promotion run two seasons ago and was shunted aside when they brought in the Carlos Kickaballs in the Premiership season.
* Tom Adeyemi - Rudy Austin's young replacement.
* Sol Bamba - a big hit last season on loan from Palermo; he's back on a permanent move now.
Add to that some interesting new formations under new boss Uwe Rosler and we've got some fresh hope this morning. I'm hoping we'll be off to a winning start against tough opposition in Burnley. MOT!
The big news out of Blighty this morning is that LVG has decided to drop David De Gea ahead of this morning's match against Spurs. Sergio Romeo deputizes in goal.
The early kickoff between Cardiff and Fulham has kicked off - no goals yet.
Btw, Brighton got off to a winning start against Forest yesterday evening.
You know you want it - the team news out of ER:
Leeds - Silvestri, Bamba, Bellusci, Taylor, Berardi, Mowatt, Cook, Adeyemi, Byram, Wood, Dallas. Subs: Turnbull, Wootton, Cooper, Phillips, Antenucci, Doukara, Erwin.
Burnley - Heaton, Duff, Keane, Mee, Darikwa, Kightly, Jones, Boyd, Arfield, Voseen, Jutkiewicz. Subs: Gilks, Anderson, Dummigan, Taylor, Ward, Vokes, Sordell.
Morning Bob
I am here and ready for the new season!!
No need to try and follow the Ashes on my Apple TV... England just walloped the Aussies by an inning and 78 runs to regain the Ashes with a Test Match to spare
Way hay - first view of Elland Road this morning on BEin!
Morning, UWS - great to have you on board for the new season. No need for cricket - I'm all about the football this morning.
My SS link is working well
http://www.vipleague.se/football/255940/1/gillette-soccer-saturday-%7C-gillette-soccer-special-%7C-sports-sunday-live-stream-online.html
Don't be disssin the Ashes....beat the Aussies on Day 3 for the second Test in a row!!!
Bowled them out for 60 before lunch on Day 1
As for the Footer, I hope Chelsea will show they have not improved. I don' t know about Citeh either.
Everyone is on the Arsenal bandwagon. They did get their new keeper but that is pretty much it. Last season, they were talking about axing Wenger... has everything changed that much?
Kickoff time at Elland Road - MOT!
We have moved our computer into the kitchen... it is a long look to the TV
Best of luck with your lot
Early chance for Leeds from a free kick now. Come on!
My United will be wearing black arm bands today after the death of Neville Neville... the father of Gary and Phil. He died in Australia when was there watching his daughter coaching the England Netball side in the World Cup
Cheers, mate - hoping for a good season for you lot too.
Battle of Second Keepers at Old Trafford
Man Utd XI: Romero; Darmian, Smalling, Blind, Shaw; Carrick, Memphis, Schneiderlin; Mata, Rooney, Young.
Spurs XI: Vorm, Walker, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Davies, Bentaleb Dier, Chadli, Eriksen, Dembele, Kane.
Oh dear - it looked like Taylor had hauled the big Burnley striker there. No call from the ref.
Rooney up top
Rooney to score more
That's fine if he stays up there... he wants to be all over the park meaning there will be no one in the box
I think I saw that Javier Hernandez is on the bench for United... is he going to be part of LVG's plans?
I still am not a big fan of LVG
Too much of a 'my philosophy man'
Teams in the tunnel
Oh - I thought that was in! Dallas with a rocket off the bar. How did that stay out.
I like the idea of Rooney playing up top but does he want to play there? He always drops so deep to collect the ball.
A lot are picking the Blues to win the League... the League hasn't been retained since United won their third in a row in 09
United have retained many times(94, 97,00, 01, 08 and 09) and only Chelsea did it in 06
Old Trafford sounds good as the teams walk out
Good morning everyone. I'm watching from the hotel lobby. The TV in my room is not working, but I'm not going to miss United vs the potato peelers.
Morning, MUR - happy new season to you! Thanks for making the effort to join us from the hotel.
Just got your email for all the predictions
You said that a lot of the categories can be changed.
I think that one of them should be restricted.
Top scorer could be changed only if they have changed clubs. You can't change to a guy who scored 10 goals in three games!
WE ARE OFF AT OLD TRAFFORD!!!
They're off.
Morning MUR
I don't think Chelski have improved themselves this season. Falcao will be a flop IMHO. They're too light up front, with Diego Costa likely to be out for injuries. As you'll see from the document I've just sent out, I'm picking Arsenal for the title.
I'm excited about the new season but as I said during the preseason, I am not in love with the modern game.
Possession is overrated
Cheers. Comments will be made sparingly since I'm typing from my phone.
You've jumped on the Gunners wagon..... where is all the Wenger out talk?
Have they changed besides between the sticks
Me too ,Bob.I agree with UWS
I need Depay to score first to get my PPP off to a flyer!
How is the match at ER?
STRUTH.... just over the top by Eriksen
United's defense the same as last season
I need Roon to score.Eriksen just over off a lobbed pass from Harry Kane.
They sure were picked apart. Did anyone pick Eriksen?
Here we go... going backwards.... I HATE IT
A chance for the ball to be crossed by the new fullback but the ball goes back into our own half
De Gea is in the stands
Smalling tackles Kane for a corner after Shaw had his pocket picked.
I've got the NBC Sports link up on my laptop for the United v. Spurs match now.
Haven't seen Romero much but the important thing is... is he wearing his socks over his knees like John Terry... hope not!
The Spuds win another corner.
I think he does... not good
Corner to Spurs...shaky clearance by Rooney.... I thought he was our striker!!!
Did you see that United have Club Bruges in the CL qualifier....these are never walkovers any more
Oh - Burnley really getting close - we're under the cosh now.
Again... United teams of old would start a season at 100 miles per hour... now.... second best!
Yes - but that was a decent draw for you lot.
Have any of the new signings done anything inside the first 15 minutes?
Have they touched the ball?
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
Oh - just wide from Vossen. Bloody hell!
I agree cuz we could have gotten Lazio or Monaco but it is not a foregone conclusion
No sightings for Memphis?
United sitting back... I HATE IT!!!
It's taken 15 minutes for me to be totally frustrated with LVG
Romero is not good with the ball at his feet. How does he expect to make it in the Prem. He does well to black from Walker.
That's another pet peeve I have... wear your last name on your shirt!
Oh - great save by Silvestri - he's keeping us in this one.
I'm glad we avoided Monaco and Lazio.
Has the ball gone over the byline of Spurs... let alone no shot
Well, "Memphis" does have a certain je ne c'est quoi that "Depay" doesn't.
Goal in Wales.... one of my promotion picks, Fulham, take the lead at Cardiff
United almost ripped apart there... just offside
I agree. They should wear their last name.
United refuse to go forward... this is NOT the way a Manchester United way!!
GOAL!!! Against the run of play.... OWN GOAL BY WALKER
Weak attempt by Dembele - he's lucky he was flagged offside.
Not at all pleased with this performance so far; we're barely hanging on at home!
Way Hay! Roon puts United in the lead on the counter off a pass from Yashley.
It was terrible by Rooney... wide open int he box and he controlled and took his sweet time and Walker finishes for him
Not good by Rooney... so much for our deadly striker
GOAL! United take the lead - it appears to be an own goal by Kyle Walker, right?
Not a Rooney goal
United take the lead WITHOUT a shot on target!!
All square in Cardiff
No points in that category, then. I don't believe it - it's a second year in a row that we've had an own goal as the first goal of the season.
Bugger! Its a Walker OG. So much for picking Roon to score first.
Shame that an OG doesn't get anyone any points
I'd take a Burnley own goal right about now, lads. I'm not complaining.
Will this push United going forward... at least take a shot!
Again... piss poor by Rooney inside the six yard box
You lot were a toe poke away from two points. Ah well...
Young gets the ball after a nice move... shoot or at least find a teammate..... crosses right to a white shirt
The modern player can't cross the bloody ball
Vertonghen booked for a foul on Mata just outside the D.
Could this be United first shot on goal
Free kick just outside the D
Vetonglen with a nasty foul on Mata.... first yellow of the season
Depay and Mata over the ball... no Rooney
Mata takes it instead of new boy... into the wall... Still no shot
Memphis has a short blocked by Walker. That looked like something from Graceland.
A few minutes away from half-time; we're lucky to still be in this one.
"Graceland," MUR?
Now chatting from the breakfast buffet room.
Best move of the half from us produces a corner.
Have some sausages for me, mate. Enjoy!
I hope Swansea start as well as they did last season!!
Graceland was Elvis"s home in Memphis and Memphis took a sickly shot.
Cheers Bob. Elizabeth didn't like the Graceland joke.
Commentator said that Darmian only the second player to move from Torino to United... the first... THE KING.. Dennis Law
34 minutes... no shot
Half time in Yorkshire - 0-0. Not at all happy with that performance. We'll need much better in the second half to survive this one.
Wow - that one went right over my head - too early for that one, mate.
UNITED TAKE A SHOT!!!!!
35th minute.... wide by Mata
Correct. It's sausages instead of bacon today. I'm working on a bagle at the moment Just wide by Mata.
1-0 up and you're already moaning (sigh)....
Kate's busy making pancakes right now. I'm starving!
Depay had a chance to run at the defense... UNITED END UP GOING BACKWARDS AGAIN
I HATE IT!!!
I am
I am fed up!
This is not the way I want my team to play
One up... NO SHOT ON GOAL AT HOME !!
Depay tries to cross... another terrible one
Of course, I picked United to win the lot
I don't see United winning the title but you'll be there or there abouts, as usual.
Neither do I but I had to pick em
Half time
No shots on goal but one up!
United one up at the half, but far from impressive.
Oh - another chance for Memphis but a really unconvincing shot.
Next week, United visit Villa Park on Friday. Sotton host the Toffees in the early match but no late match
United have not lost at Old Trafford in the league after winning at half time since Ipswich came back to win in 1984!!!!
Burnley get us going in the second half playing toward the Kop End. They were by far the better side in the first half. Hoping for much better from the Whites in this second half.
Wow... Man City v Chelsea next Sunday
Oh - we're all at sea at the back today. Another big chance for Jutkiewicz.
Bamba all over Jutkiewicz again - he's getting close to a card.
Cynical challenge there by Arfield on Lewis Cook who was breaking away. Yellow card.
Oh - Mowatt is inches away from opening the campaign with a goal. So close!
The second half is underway.
Hot pancakes arrived, the pleasures of being married, eh?
in the loo for kick off.. i'm back
I just want to see United be the better team and TRY and score
No pancakes for me
Still losing the pounds.
Eating right and walking 5 miles in just over an hour 6 days a a week
Good for you, mate. I've decided to be fat and happy.
Well done UWS.
Another chance for Memphis - disappointing.
Well done Kate. Is it still 0-0 at ER? Burnley is a tough test.
Cheers... just getting for Hawaii!
I have an app called Mapmywalk
It keeps time and distance for you
I have walked, including power walks and dog walks, over 260 miles since June 27
An Elvis sighting is more likely than Memphis being GBB.
no better from United this half
The Pigsticker is warming up.
Oh - Wood should have buried that one from the knock down by Byram. Fired well over.
Warm in Manchester? Have they been in Dallas? It's like an oven out here.
There are definitely some fun hiking opportunities in Hawaii, mate. Enjoy!
I'll be home for the Monday afternoon match.
Leeds old boy Sam Vokes to come on for Burnley. Our new signing Stuart Dallas is coming off to warm applause. Antenucci on in his place.
Free kick chance whipped in by Spurs... decent save by Romero
I'm surprised I made it out this early. Indian Cuisine, a couple of pints, and a night on the town makes for sound sleeping.
Not going to be hiking in Hawaii... unless it is on the beach
What's the Monday match?
Bastian coming on for United replacing Carrick... his Michael hurt?
West Brom v Citeh
Another big penalty shout for a handball against Bamba. Burnley could have had a couple.
Pig Stick is on for Carrick for his United debut. He is the successor to Carrick too.
I haven't enjoyed watching Citeh since Tevez left.
Bamba playing like Bambi?
Still not pleased
Still not good enough
Stuart Dallas named for the City in which I'm currently located.
I'd take a 1-0 win right about now, mate. Come on, you Whites!
He's our big summer signing from Brentford.
Over an HOUR gone... NO SHOTS ON TARGET AT HOME!!!!!
Its a boring start to the season.
I do like the big Ivorian Bamba but he does like to clatter opponents. He's naughty.
MOT!
It hasn't been good at OT, I have to admit.
YES!!!
ASHLEY YOUNG TAKES A SHOT... A SLOW ONE... THAT ACTUALLY HAS TO BE SAVED
65 MINUTES
What do you have to say LVG???
United's first shot on target. Worm nearly fumbled in a tame effort from Yashley.
Bellucci gives up bad foul on Vokes. Dangerous position now.
LVG is not pleased as witnessed by Giggsy in the first half
.
Young fails to find a red shirt from a cross... what a shocker
Depay coming off after a ho-hum debut
Herrera on
A defensive move by the Genius LVG
Ander Herrera on for Memphis. We'd be better off playing Elvis
Oh dear - not the best debut.
United's first German get United's first yellow of the season
Inside the last ten minutes - I really need to hit the bog but I can wait it out until the end. I'm loyal.
GOAL! Mirco Antenucci you beauty!!!!!!!!
1-0 Whites!
CONGRATS
SS JUST ANNOUNCED IT
That was special. He trapped a lovely ball from Byram and then jinked inside and curled a super shot with his left peg. Marvelous.
My United...still second best!
The first of many?
Bugger! Jokes levels it. He had to, really.
Well done. That's against one of the best sides in the division. A great sub by Uwe
Again... not a good cross coming over.. Roon does nothing with it
SHOOT THE DAMN BALL SOMEONE!!!
I don't care if United win this 1 nil or more
Even if they win... IT IS STILL NOT BLOODY GOOD ENOUGH
In all fairness, it was a lovely header from Vokes - he never did that for us.
1-1!
Sorry mate.
Already 1-1?
That was only fair for Burnley - they would have been robbed if we'd ended up winning.
Of all people to tie it up.
15 minutes to go at OT
Burnley in the ascendancy now. We'll be lucky to see out the draw.
Free kick chance for United... Young went for a one two... did he dive... he's got priors.... went down easily
Who takes it.... Roon is over it this time
We're always overly hospitable to returning players.
Johnny Wilkinson... bloody useless by our 'world class' player
Died booked for a foul on Yashley just outside the box. Harsh. It was a dive. Roon shoots well over
Doukara - our other joint top scorer from last season is on now, along with ManYoo youngster Scott Wootton.
Here we go... going back to Romero...United fans aren't happy with that
ATTACK
ATTACK
ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK
Alli, a new signing from the Fake Dons, is on for Died. He was in the side that defeated United 4-0.
Now Valencia is going to be coming on.. another attacking change!! Wonder who will come off?
Blow up, ref - I've had enough.
United with banks of defenders... no creativeness and attacking thoughts
Darmian off for Valencia
What is your time?
Damian to be replaced by the useless Valencia. A creditable debut.
United are clueless going forward
A United win would be highway robbery.
The sad thing is that LVG will be happy
NO ONE should be happy
