The Last Saturday Morning Prem Matches Before the International Break
It's the last weekend of Prem matches before the international break and to be honest the better matches are on tomorrow. we start with Palace vs the Baggies in a return to Selhurst Park for Tony Pubis a. It concludes with probably the probably the pick of the lot today as a surprisngly disappointing Chelsea host a decent Saints side.
410 Comments:
It's just under three minutes into the match at Selhurst Park and Zaha wins a corner off of Brunt. Dwight Gayle has a shot deflected from the edge of the box for another.
Bolassie shoots straight at Myhill after picking Craig Dawson's pocket.
James McLean is booked for what seemed minimal contact on Souare, who made the most of it.
Cabaye with a foul on Yacoub that seemed more severe than the booking, but not even a card. Where is the consistency.
Kevin McDonald has given Wolves the lead vs the Terriers.
THOSE ANIMALS!
Burnley , as expected, won 1-2 at struggling Rotherham yesterday
Yacoub tackles Zaha for a Palace corner.
An early forced change for Pubis as Jonny Evans , on loan from United , limps off injured and is replaced by James Chester. The MUFC Academy Factor remains unchanged
Souare fouls McLean just outside the box and should have been booked.
The free kick was rolled back to just outside the box and Brunt bore the Brunt of it as He shot over under pressure from Zaha and collided into Zaha. The Northern Irish fullback is down injured.
Brunt is back up with a bloody schnoz, so he is off for treatment.
Now up to the other end of the pitch and Zaha is tripped just outside the Baggies box. The free kick is taken by Puncheon and headed away as is his return cross. Then high and wide from Cabaye just outside the box as the Baggies had trouble clearing their lines./
Cabaye has a long range effort straight to Myhill after a cross was headed out.
Wolves are one up vs the Terriers at the half.
Zaha received a long ball from the back and cut inside Brunt before his near post effort was pushed out by Myhill for a corner.
High and wide by Puncheon
Zaha has a shot pushed put by Myhill off a nice solo run. He cut inside Brunt and McLean
Souare clears away from Rondon after McLean had a shot blocked on a rare Baggies attack
James Chester is called for a foul off a curling corner from Brunt. The last thing the Baggies need as attacks are at a premium for this ultra defensive minded team.
Two minutes of stoppage time.
It's 0-0 at the half as Palace have failed to break a typically defensive minded Pulis side despite Zaha's best efforts.
The second half is underway and a defensive minded switch as Craig Gardener is on for Berahino. As Jim Beglin stated, Berahino wasn't working hard enough and was just going through the motions. It's pretty obvious what Pubis's intentions are.
Cabaye is down injured off a collision with Craig Gardener. That could be it for the French midfield player as he appears to have twisted his ankle.
He seems to be okay as he's off for treatment.
James Chester is booked of r a foul on Dwight Gayle just outside his box. A pathetic free kick from Cabaye straight into a one man wall!
Afobe has put wolves two up vs the Terriers.
Jim Morrison is down injured as the Baggies have only one substitution remaining.
Soaure wins a corner off of James McLean
GOAL !!! BOLASSIE HEADS PALACE INTO THE LEAD OFF THE CORNER
It's hard to believe t, but that was his first ever Prem goal at Selhurst Park . A deserved lead for Palace as the corner from Cabaye was headed out by Rondon. Puncheon played the ball back to Cabaye and for once he put in a sublime cross that was headed in at the far post from a few yards out by Bolassie.
I believe that is the first away goal conceded by the Baggies this season.
The final roll of the dice from Pubis as Cally Macmanaman is on for Jim Morrison. No involvement for Rickie Lambert today
Like for like as Frazier Campbell is on for Dwight Gayle.
Wolves go three up vs the Terriers late on. I should have watched that match BEIN shown on the telly.
Afobe with his second goal, both scored this half.
A clash of former United trainees as Frazier Campbell is booked for a foul on James Chester.
Wolves have defeated the Terriers 3-0.
Cally Macmanaman wins a corner off of Cabaye
Bolassie clears away the corner from Craig Gardener then Zaha wins a free kick off of Yacoub, who is booked.
Zaha is booked for pushing Yacoub after the foul.
PENALTY FOR PALACE.ZAHA IS TRIPPED BY BRUNT , WHO HAS BEEN GIVEN A TORRID TIME.
GOAL !!!! THIS ONE IS DONE AND DUSTED AS CABAYE EASILY SENDS MYHILL THE WRONG WAY TO PUT PALACE TWO UP LATE ON.
Joe Ledley is on for Zaha, who surely is MOTM.
Into stoppage time. Four minutes.
Macmanaman picked Kelly's pocket , but his close range effort was beaten away by Hennessey.
It's over and Palace run out deserved winners by a 2-0 scoreline.
Morning, MUR - thanks for getting us going today. Kate and I had a bit of a lie-in after a late night out on the town. But I'm here for the main event.
I'll be watching the Citeh v. Newcastle match. It seems the more prone to fireworks than the Hammers match.
Next on the telly is two winless Geordie teams as Citeh host the Toon on NBCSN and the Black Cats host the Hammers on Born in the USA.
Good morning Bob. Great to have you on board.I'm glad that you are well rested and hope that you an Kate had a great night out.
Deandre Yedlin makes his Prem debut for the Black Cats vs the Hammers. He will be keen to impress while on loan from the Spuds.
Mr. Advocate about to win the sack race?
There is a good chance of that.
Newcastle get us started at the Etihad. Here are the teams:
Citeh - Hart, Zabaleta, Otamendi, Mangala, Kolarov, Fernando, Fernandinho, Silva, Sterling, De Bruyne, Aguero. Subs: Caballero, Demichelis, Sagna, M.Garcia, Navas, Bony, Iheanacho
Newcastle - Krul; Janmaat, Mbemba, Coloccini, Mbabu; Sissoko, Anita, Gouffran, Wijnaldum; Perez, Mitrović. Subs: Elliot, Lascelles, Williamson, Tiote, Thauvin, de Jong, Cissé.
Referee: Kevin Friend (Leicestershire)
They're off from the Etihad then from the SOL a few seconds later.
So stormy at the SOL that even Fred is awake for the match. I just heard Becky state that Sunderland's Director of Sport has resigned.
Hey Boys
I am here
Just got back from walkies with Shadow in a blustery cold Glenville!
COME ON YOU TOON
Otamendi clears for an early Toon corner.,
Just read your comments from before
I was listening to Talksport on the walk and there is talk of Advocat leaving Sunderland no matter what the result is against the Hammers
First big goal of the day, and Reading have taken the lead over Middlesbrough, Danny Williams scoring to make it 1-0 there.
Decent cross by Newcastle. Corner cleared
Still no SS on line
Bummer
Morning, UWS - great to have you on board this morning. How are you feeling about the big match tomorrow?
Good morning UWS. I guess the fall weather is here. I just went outside and it's a very pleasant morning here for the first time in months.
Correct UWS. I was in an out pre match, but that is what I have heard. I guess Dick has won the sack race. Well, it will be official tomorrow.
Quite nippy here - down into the forties last night.
I am feeling confident after the Gunners recent displays.
Newc just survive a free kick
An open start for both sides. Citeh have the first dangerous free kick opportunity. De Bruyne whips it in but Krul makes a hash of it and there is a massive scramble in the box.
An open start for both sides. Citeh have the first dangerous free kick opportunity. De Bruyne whips it in but Krul makes a hash of it and there is a massive scramble in the box.
YIKES! we're nowhere close. I was pleased to see the morning low in the mid 60s for the first time in months. It felt pleasant when I took out the trashg
How did Citeh not take the lead after several bites of the cherry then Silva misses a golden chance , chipping Krul , but over after a poor back header.
Fred is taking a cat nap, just as his team's players have all season.
United are top but I am not confident about any game they go into.
Last week they struggled to win against Sunderland. Two goals within a minute of each other either side of the break helped. The rest of the 88 minutes weren't great
Fell behind early to Wolfsburg before I got home. When I was able to watch, I was pleased with the speed of the attack at time even though Rooney was pants! After taking the lead, United sat back and were pathetic. They were very lucky to hold on.
As for tomorrow, who knows.... wouldn't surprise me with a win or a loss
Bristol City take the lead vs the Fake Dons while Evil Cardiff take the lead at the high flying seagulls. Bolton take the lead at Loftus Road.
The Gunners haven't been any better other than at the Crisps. It should be competitive. I'm looking forward to it.
Win at Arsenal
Win at City
Win at Liverpool
Losing at Sunderland
Rangers take the lead vs Falkirk while Hibs take the lead at Queen of the South.
I agree with you that Rooney is a major problem. The kids up front are fizzing at the moment and Mata seems inspired by them. But there is something majorly wrong with Roon.
Ipswich losing at Ewood
Bolton two already at Loftus
Reading beating high flying Boro
Steven Fletcher with the goal for the Black Cats . Their first lead in ages and his first goal in ages.
Make that 2-1 at Loftus Road
Speaking of Boro, they beat Leeds last week but according to Five Live or Talksport., Leeds played very well and should have gotten something from the match. Just horrible mistakes killed them
I just saw the goal. A short free kick was passed into the box and Fletcher scored with a great first time finish like he did in the past.
I saw that match and that is a perfect description. Leeds were punished for school boy defending. otherwise, it was a fairly even match
Fred is napping, but he will be delighted. Johnno will not be pleased.
That Sunderland goal might just save Advocate's job.
GOAL! The man I love to hate has scored for the Toon!
Listening to the Sports Bar with Andy Goldstien and James Cundy.... Goldstien is United fan and Cundy is an ex player and fan of Chelsea.... Cundy and a lot of callers were complaining about Rooney. Goldstien was defending him. He brings something important to the team...I am on Cundy's side
Oh My Giddy Aunt... ONE NIL TOON
GOAL !!! THE TOON TAKE A SHOCK LEAD AT THE ETIHAD!
The new boys Wynaldum and Mitrovic really combined well there and it's the chippy Serbian's first goal for his new club.
1-0 Toon!
Citeh still to win this 4-1 but I thought the same against the Hammers too.
iT WAS bOB'S BOY. mITROVIC , WHO HEADED THE tOON INTO THE LEAD. It started from the back. Mbvabu nutmegged Zaba, and his cross was poorly cleared to Wijnaldum , who crossed for Mitrovic to head home with a free header from close range.
Newcastle doing well so far
Blackburn two up vs Ipswich. I think Rovers came into this match bottom of the table.
Jeff's team have gone behind to Luton while the Orient Express takes the lead vs Notts County.
GOAL !!! THE BLACK CATS HAVE GONE TWO UP.
I found one!!!
http://live.sports4u.tv/schedule/gillette-soccer-saturday-live-stream-online/
Sunderland two up!!
Is Fred doing back flips?
it was a " VISIONARY" gioal by Lens , who won a tackle in midfield then received a pass , then chipped Adrian.
Marvelous - thanks for the like, UWS!
Some windows to shut but it is working
I've missed it
It's like the rise of the Northeast today - crikey!
The Hammers haven't read the script as Winnie Reid is booked for a foul on Fletcher. He lost the ball in the build up to the second goal.
He's napping, but he will be delighted once he wakes up.
That is a perfect description , Bob. How about Mitrovic?
Bloody hell.... Newcastle were in again on side... saved
An emphatic win might keep Advo Cat in the job.
Adrian superbly turns a shot from Borin i around the post.
Foxes about to take a chomp out of the Canaries... pen for the visitors... they score. Vardy with his seventh of the season. He was my second pick for the GB!
Great kick save from Hart.
Adrian superbly saves a close range header from O'Shea from the corner. He showed cat like reflexes.
Goal at Dean Court.... to the visitors
Watford take the lead
No it is the to hosts.. Bournemouth take the lead
What an outstanding start to the season for Vardy. Surely, he will be in Woy's squad for the next two fixtures.
That will be a key match between the newly promoted teams as points in these types of matches will be the key to survival. I picked them both for the drop.
The Rams take the lead vs the Bees.
Two good matches tomorrow morning
Everyone says that Rogers is in trouble... if they win, they will be ahead of Everton. Everyone is on the Everton bandwagon but they haven't done that well. They struggled to start and then had a great game at St. Marys. They were two down at the Hawthorns but came back to win
Everyone thinks the Blues will win but they never seem to do so against the neighbors
Coventry take the lead vs the Shrews while Bob will be pleased to see the Evil Blades trailing in the potteries. He will also be pleased to see the Posh two up vs the Evil Lions.
Goal at Elland Road... to the Blue Nose Brums
Sorry mate
Have to go on the five miler soon... probably during these matches boys
The better matches are definitely tomorrow . It will be exciting to see the Mersey Derby followed by our match at the EM. I predict that Sturridge will keep Rodgers in the job.
Sorry Bob. I did pick the Blues for promotion.
Glenn Murray with the goal for the Cherries. He seems to be the replacement for the injured Callum Wilson. Matt Ritchie with the assist as he has for most of the Cherries goals this season.
Fans want a red for a foul... is the ref going get crack under pressure... no just a yellow
Anita is in trouble here after that crunching tackle on Zaba. He could be off. No - it's a yellow. Lucky boy.
They said on TS that Murray was his replacement
Bugger - just saw your comment about the goal at Elland Road. Bugger.
Jayne Mansfield is getting crushed by the Daggers 3-1.
A shocker as Falkirk have tied it up at Ibrox.
Cresswell sees a yellow card for a foul on Lens. That is known as a contact lens.
Sunderland should have been three up but a sitter missed according to LeTis
OH!!! THE BLACK CATS should have gone three up as Borini missed a sitter . he shot wide with just Adrian to beat as he was superbly put through.
The high flying Seagulls tie it up vs Evil Cardiff.
GOAL !!! AGUERO TIES IT UP FOR CITEH!
GOAL! Aguero equalizes for Citeh! Great header in the box.
It started with a short corner. Silva played a one two with Zaba then his cross was headed on by Fernandinho to Aguero , who scored from two yards out.
Three minutes of stoppage time from the Etihad and from the SOL too.
The Tigers take the lead at Forest
GOAL ! PRIVATE JENKINSON PULLS ONE BACK FOR THE HAMMERS . HIS FIRST FOR THE HAMMERS
The Rams go two up vs the Bees.
Good to see my GBB back on the scoresheet - he's got some catching up to do.
Janmaat is called for a foul on Sterling just outside the box.
It's 1-1 at the half from the etihad,.
Silva curls in a great free kick but it's cleared away and that's the first half over.
1-1 at the Etihad.
And over to the Stadium of Light.
The Black Cats are hanging on to a 2-1 lead at the half.
Watford tie it up at Dean Court on the stroke of halftime.
Missed a view goals when I was in the loo
The Hammers goal started with a throw from midfield . Victor Moses got free down the left, cut inside Cattermole then passed for Jenkinson to score with a great finish.
Another missed goal while in the bog!
qpr HAVE COME FROM TWO DOWN TO MAKE IT dESMOND VS bOLTON ON THE STROKE OF HALFTIME.
Charlie Adam nearly scored an identical goal to the one he scored at SB, but Brad Guzan was on to it as he turned away the long range chip headed for the upper 90.
As it stands, City have gone ahead of United on Goals Scored.
United are second followed by Crystal Palace and Leicester in the CL spots. West Ham take the EL spot
Just another normal PL season then
Sounds about right . Normal service should be resumed the second half of the season.
Saw some highlights of other matches
Stoke should be ahead at Villa
A goal called back but was not offside
Charlie Adam has another pop from his own half... fingertip save by Guzan
As I said earlier, an easy win for Citeh in the second half
Hope Im wrong!
Can't believe United are tied with City on GD after the starts from both teams. City knocking in all over the place, United scoring two goals in three games on two shots
They're off from the Etihad and from the SOL
Heard on the radio, Chelsea's loss at Porto midweek was their fifth defeat of the season tying their total for all of last season... LONG MAY IT CONTINUE
Second half underway
I think that shows that the standards have slipped in the Prem.
The second half has started at the Etihad. Navas has replaced Sterling who picked ups knock.
I agree. I saw an article stating that " Jose's methods don't work." They're good in the short term, but they show that he's forced to move away long term.
LONG MAY IT CONTINUE
Top of the table Aberdeen had only conceded one home goal all season... are losing 4-1 today!!
CL contender, Leicester, double their lead at Carrow Road
Leicester have scored and conceded in every game so far this season... exciting team
Bob will be pleased that pottery trumps cutlery as Vale are two up vs the Evil Blades.
Goal... Aguero has doubled his tally
2-1
GOAL !!! AGUERO WITH A BRACE AS CITEH LEAD 2-1.
GOAL! It's Aguero again. A deflected shot that eluded Krul.
2-1 Citeh!
AND ANOTHER
AGUERO SCORES HIS THIRD
GOAL! It's Aguero in for the hat-trick and my GBB has exploded today. Way hay!
3-1 Citeh!
Silva won the ball off a sloppy pass in the Toon defense. He found Aguero, who cut inside Collocini then scored with a deflected finish oo of Gouffrhan that is Krul on the Toon.
Cambridge losing at York
Aberdeen conceded fifth at home to St. Johnstone
Will still be top
GOAL !!! AGUERO NOW WITH A HAT-TRICK AS CITEH LEAD 3-1.
I called it!!
Newcastle could have been two or three up
I think that's four for Aguero this season - still behind Mahrez, Wilson and some others but he's making up the territory.
M'Babu seems to be in trouble here and may have to come off with a hammy strain.
Three goals in 8 minutes of play
He's no Lewandowski!!!!
Mitrovic with a trademark elbow in the face. He's lucky to get away with that one.
Aguero collected a nice through ball and chipped the on rushing Krul as he was played onside.
Four one!!
DeB with City's fourth
Maybe I was wrong about 4-1
This is the type of match to get City back on track... BUGGER
GOAL !!! DE BRUYNE PUTS CITEH 4-1 UP.
Stoke take the lead at Villa Park
GOAL! The Ginger Winger has scored Citeh's fourth in about five minutes!!!!!
4-1 Citeh!
Three goals in the second half in 8 minutes
Jeff not happy
Hartlepool 1-2 against Luton
Cambridge two down at York
jAMAAL lASCELLES HAD JUST COME ON FOR mBABU AND cITEH TOOK ADVANTAGE of that as Navas was free to cross down his side and his cross superbly volleyed in by Debruyne into the upper 90.
Just like the Dems, the Toon have felt De Bruyne.
Not a Big Club take the lead vs Ridsdale's evil minnions in an evil Championship fixture.
Sunderland down to ten men
The Foxes have gone two up at CR.
Jeff Schlupp with the goal.
Luton three one up at HPool
Arnautovic has given Stoke the lead at Villa PArk. He will feel justice has been served as he had a perfectly good goal disallowed in the first half.
Matt texted me with happiness about his GB pick Aguero hat trick... make that FOUR
GOAL! Bloody hell - Aguero has scored another!
5-1!
What a jump the United fans made last week.
If United don't get a win tomorrow, they will drop just as fast!!!
Matt and I are dancing over that one. He's getting closer. Let's have another one!
GOAL !!! AGUERO WITH HIS FOURTH AS CITEH NOW LEAD 5-1.
Wednesday two up against North End
It's just as you would have it - predicting the Premiership places determines the PPP stakes.
Fourth goal at SoL... the Hammers have just invited Desmond
GOAL !!! DESMOND AT THE SOL
Absolutely... screw the rest of Europe
Still 0-1 down at Elland Road - come on, you Whites!
