Another Big Saturday Morning in the Premiership
Morning, chaps - it's another big, big Saturday morning in the Premiership. We start with the intriguing match-up of Man City, who've had a slight bump in their road recently against Spurs who've get to catch fire this season. This is followed some great games at 10am EST, including Leicester v. Arsenal and United v. Sunderland. At the end of the day, we've got the champions Chelsea against woeful relegation favorites Newcastle. Don't miss any of it - join me this morning on the LOB for all the action!

League leaders Manchester City travel to what’s left of White Hart Lane, following the attempts at demolition by Arsenal fans a few days ago, looking to get their season back on track after becoming the latest high profile team to be given a bloody nose by Slaven Bilic’s West Ham travelling roadshow. Their hosts have had a fairly unremarkable start to the season, winning two and drawing three of their opening six Premier League games, with last year’s top scorer Harry Kane still looking for his opening goal.
On the subject of Harry Kane’s goal drought, such as it is, Mauricio Pochettino has this to say: “Always in football you need to have patience and trust and belief in your skill and yourself,” he says.
Good morning Bob.I'm delighted to eb joining you at the end of a busy week for us and for football.
Morning Fellas!!!
I am here today!!
Sorry I have been gone so much but things have been happening every weekend.
I hope to be here for most of the morning. We do need to walk our five miler at some point and put the winter cover on the pool
No Kompany
No Silva
No Citeh win?
Good morning UWS. I will be around most of the morning, but out for the last match. It sounds like you've had a busy schedule.
Could be . They will be playing without the Hart beat of the team. They have a real Willy instead.
The teams in the tunnel:
Tottenham Hotspur: Lloris, Walker, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Davies, Dier, Alli, Lamela, Eriksen, Son, Kane.
Subs: Rose, Vorm, N’Jie, Trippier, Townsend, Chadli, Carroll.
Man City: Caballero, Sagna, Otamendi, Demichelis, Kolarov, Fernandinho, Fernando, De Bruyne, Toure, Sterling, Aguero.
Subs: Hart, Kompany, Zabaleta, Nasri, Jesus Navas, Roberts, Barker.
Referee: Mark Clattenburg (Tyne & Wear)
Morning, chaps - it's great to have you on board this morning.
Cheers Bob. Citeh are without Kompany, but we have company.
It's sunny in London, but still dark in South Texas
They're off from SFL in an Evil prem fixture.
Two South American managers are pitting their wits against each other.
De Bruyne wins an early Citeh corner.
We're away at Shite Fart. Glad to see the old place is still standing after those rude Gooners had their way with it in midweek.
Alderweireld heads away the corner.
Anyone found a link for SS this season?
Naughty Gooners!
I have not. Did it change?
The commentator mentions that Kompany had to pull out at the eleventh hour - they've got a young academy product George Evans in his place on the bench.
I haven't yet, mate - it's gotten harder with the links this season.
The Fake Dons are p,laying their third home match in a row and hopefully it will be three consecutive defeats.
Everything seems to want to charge
Very annoying!
Lamella is well offside.
Stupidly offside... know where you are...You're a professional
I winder if Pelligrini is resting players ahead of their CL match away to Borussia Moncehngladbach on Wednesday. He must think that is the tougher match
They are talking about the League Cup matches midweek. A lot of teams put out some strong sides. I was pleasantly surprised
The 11th hour? More like 11:59 as George Evans is still changing into his kit to replace Kompany.
The exception to that was that Not a Big Club cheekily played a second team against Newcastle - and still won!
I enjoyed watching the North London Derby. Both managers put out decent sides as did United against the Tractor Boys.
Let's have a Spurs win early
A United win a little later and UNITED ARE TOP!!
A CRAPPY UNITED
De Bruyne had a poke from distance and had Lloris scrambling for a moment. Wide of the mark.
United host Middlesbrough in the next round. Not a Big Club , Hull City , and Middlesbrough are the only non Prem teams left, showing that teams are taking the competition more seriously this season.
It could definitely happen, mate.
I think that shows the Prem isn't as strong as in the past.
Lamela wins a Spuds corner.,
Lamella had a half chance there but still won a corner.
Kolorov heads away the corner.
Good attacking start to this game.
A headline that Bob will enjoy:
JUSTICE AT THE COTTAGE.
The Cottagers thrashed Evil QPR 4-0 yesterday. I love it.
Nice one - I hadn't seen that result!
Hudders drew 1-1 with Forest on Thursday..
Premier League in danger of losing fourth spot in CL
All of the commentators seem to be egging Harry Kane on to end his goal drought. They almost scream out his name like teenyboppers whenever the ball comes close.
did you know that Leeds have a noon kickoff at the Riverside tomorrow. It's not BEIN shown live, but at 1 PM your time on tape delay.
I think you're right, mate. It doesn't look promising this season.
Nice one, mate. Thanks for the tip.
I think Kane will score. He's hit the upright a few times and forced some world class saves from keepers. I think he will score soon.
Both teams have lined up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with Kane and Aguero acting as lone front men, supported by banks of three behind them
Cheers mate. I think I will sleep in late and watch it on tape delay. The only Prem match is Palace vs Watford at 11 AM.
I hope so; he is England's best hope for a scoring threat in France next summer. Can we naturalize Martial?
I'll likely do the same, mate. I should be able to avoid the score.
I tell everyone that I am really dislike the modern game!!
Too much talk of football philosophy, tactics, holding midfielders, false number nine, stacking the midfield, possession, passing sideways, passing sideways, passing back to the goalkeeper every two minutes
My beloved United always have attacked attacked attacked
This lot... three shots on goal in three games
I just missed the first good chance of the mnatch while in the bog as Llloris did well too turn around a long range effort from Aguero.
It’s been absorbing stuff so far with a cracking pace to the match, but few actual chances.
Two banks
Some Argie Bargy as Lamella wins a corner off of Otamendi
The amazing thing about Martial is that he's scored with just about every shot he's had on goal - what a clinical finisher!
The corner from Lamella is headed away then the offside flag is raised off the return cross.
I agree. he's a Black Belt in finishing . The Bruce Lee of strikers!
I need Aguero to get on his bike with the scoring this season - he's losing ground to the likes of Riyah Mahrez, Callum Wilson and that Ighalo bloke at Watford.
Bob hit the nail on another one
Few actual chances
LVG doesn't seem to be resting him, either. He's played every match since his debut, even in the League Cup!
I agree with UWS. I tell young fans that all teams play alike as if clones of each other. When we were growing up it was fascinating to watch the various playing styles of teams from other parts of the world.
You're right, mate. The modern game has gotten too defensive with managers intent on not losing rather than actually going out and winning. Mourinho is the worst offender.
Bugger
Citeh take the lead on a counter attack
by DeB
GOAL! De Bruyne scores again after a great breakaway!
GOAL !!! THE SPUDS ARE BUIRNED AS DEBRUYNE GIVES CITEH THE LEAD ON A CLASSIC COUNTER . GREAT FINISH
Walker gave the ball away on the edge of Citeh's box and they streaked away with it. De Bruyne with a great finish, wrong footing LLoris.
0-1!
That's a problem with the CL
All English clubs are playing like everyone else and they're not good enough to play that way
Play the English way and you win the European Cup SIX years in a row. You have three out of four semi finalist in the CL. Finalist almost every year
Why are we the only ones that know this
I cannot believe that the color guy was calling for a Spurs player to clip De Bruyne's ankles. Disgusting. He should be suspending from commentating on the next match for that.
Decent effort by Sterling
Good save
Off to the loo
Bob will see it as justice served because Della Alli, the signing from the Fake Dons in an evil transfer cheaply conceded possession . Seconds later, Yaya put De Bruyne through , who scored with a greaT FINISH PAST lLORIS
Oh - Sterling tries one from the edge of the box and it's just tipped around by Lloris. They're going in for the kill here.
Cheers UWS. Sounds like another goal is in the offering
He's just said it again - terrible!
Sorry it was walker, not Alli, who was signed in that evil transfer
He should definitely be suspended and be forced to jojn Keyes and Gray on BEIN.
I did NOT miss a goal when I was on the bog.
The latest headline :
The Spuds burned by De Bruyne on the Break. Gooner, Simon, and dad must be pleased.
Harry Kane pulls the trigger but it's well wide.
Just wide by Harry Kane from long range after a horrible miss kick from Otamendi.
I thought Andy and ole hairy hands were on Al-Jazeera, no?
Lloris pushes away a cross from Fernie.
Correct. They own BEIN.
Horribly high and wide by Lamella.
Ah...I didn't know that.
It's 0-0 at the half between the Fake Dons and Derby County.
Sterling got behind Vertonghen then but then lost control of it.
Harry Hands and Handy Andy Gray are sometimes joined by Gary Bailey in the evenings. He's the token good guy.
Naughty by Della Alli on Fernie and he will be lectured by Mark Clattenburg.
That suits me - we can catch Derby if they draw today.
The only problem is that your lot have a toughie at the Riverside tomorrow.
Caballero does well to turn around a shot from Harry Kane for a Citeh corner.
Caballero keeps Kane out after the striker got his feet tangled up.
The corner is cleared.
Yeah - we'll be lucky to get a draw out of that one.
Aguero has a shot deflect off of Alderweireld for a Citeh corner.
Otamendi heads high and wide off the corner from Kolorov.
If anyone can get a draw it's your lot and Derby County. Also, a chance to do scouting duty as we face your opponents in the next round of the Capital One Cup.
I'm back
You didn't miss a goal for once, mate!
The Spuds counter comes to noithing after a great save by Lloris from Aguero.,
GOAL! Dier scores with a daisy cutter from distance!
GOAL !!! ERIC DIER TIES IT UP.
How did the linesman see let that go
Into stoppage time
The ginger winger De Bruyne really set him up a treat.
Linesman must have been in the bog as well, eh UWS?
Boom boom!
Agreed UWS. Walker was miles offside as he crossed and Caballero made a close range block from Number One Son.. Then an atrocious clearance from De Bruyne and Eric Dier scored with a long range finish off the post.
Half time - off to have a snuggle with the missus.
It's 1-1 at the half.
HT
Good finish for Spurs
That goal should never have counted
DeMi gets a yellow after the half time whistle
Di Michelis is booked for saying what Bob typed about the lineman.
Fair play to you, Bob.
GOAL!!! BOB WILL BE DELIGHTED TO HEAR THAT BRADLEY JOHNSON HAS GIVEN THE RAMS THE LEAD AT THE FAKE DONS. HIS FIRST FOR THE CLUB.
Derby take the lead at MK Dons in the early Championship match
It was a well worked goal that started from a throw and resulted in a goal about a dozen passes later. Tom Ince found Stephen Warnock down the left. He played a nice one two , then his cross was dummied by Johnny Russell and it made its way to Bradley Johnson, who scored with a great finish just outside the D.
Second half underway at the Lane
Ah - Bradley Johnson - I miss that boy in our midfield.
We're away at Shite Fart again.
The latest from South Texas is that Fred is taking a cat nap ahead of United's match vs the Black Cats. Fred's team is in for a long ninety minutes.
Yaya shoots straight to Lloris off a pass from sterling.
Yaya has an early shot but straight down Lloris' throat
Oh - Aguero worked his way into a shooting position but merely won a corner with a deflected effort.
A pass from Aguero attempted for Fernie is deflected for a corner. The corner is cleared.
GOAL! Alderwelde nods home Spurs' second!
GOAL!!!
SPURS HAVE TAKEN THE LEAD AGAINST THE LEADERS...for now
GOAL !!! ALDERWEIRED HEADS THE PUDS INTO THE LEAD FROM A FREE KICK
Keeper went walkabout
Oh dear - Caballero went walkabout there as the corner came in from Lamella. Joe Hart will be smiling on the bench.
Could this be a second loss on the trot for Citeh in the Premiership. The bandwagoners in the PPP - sorry, MUR - will not be happy.
Could this be a second loss on the trot for Citeh in the Premiership. The bandwagoners in the PPP - sorry, MUR - will not be happy.
Spurs are going the wrong way in the second half!
They like to attack the other end in the second half
HArry Kane has not scored this season, but deserves credit for winning the free kick off of Otamendi. Then a superb curling free kick was headed in by Alderweireld as Caballero was horribly out of position.
BUGGER!!! The fake dons tie it up vs Derby County. Bob will not be pleased.
No probs mate. At least we can go top with a win vs Fred's team
Caballero didn't play with any Hart on that free kick and Citeh paid the price by conceding that goal.
United go top and I will zoom up the table!!!
I think our PPP should still be heavily determined by the Premier League and not the rest of Europe. The Champ has been decided by EL winner
Throwing the cat under the bed, mate?
Also, Caballero looked like he was looking for a Cabbie instead of a cross.
Correct. The cat is out of the bag.
Love to see a Toon win today!
The only reason that the PPP has been decided by the EL is because either the consensus opinion has been to choose the wrong side as the title winner (two seasons ago, when no one chose Citeh to win) or when virtually everyone picks the winner (last season when loads picked Chelski to win it).
I'm okay with the points system. I think Simon would have still won last season. The Prem still has the most points. It's more that it's been so close that winners are winning by slim margins.
Tony's boss is at the Lane this morning
He sits at the opposite end of Spurs second goal. Sure he doesn't mind
Wonder if Citeh did it to screw with Spurs or maybe it was the Sun in the early match
That would be loverly. And would save the Wally's job. We're probably getting close to the first sacking of the season. I'm not sure that Brendan Rogers will survive the weekend.
Simon became the first person to win despite picking the wrong team to win the Prem. He won because he predicted ALL the Cups correctly. He was solid otherwise.
I understand... it's I just don't give two hoots who wins in Spain, Italy or Germany
Erik Lamela gets booked for a nasty stamp on the exposed ankle of Aleksandar Kolarov’s right leg in full stretch. Ouch.
I would like a Toon win today despite Fred's protests. Brendan has a slight lead ahead of Wally in the sack race. Did anyone pick Brendan?
That doesn't really decide it, though. It's not that Simon won against those who picked right on the league title. We've got at least four PPPers who are United fans and loyally pick them to win every year. But they don't win every year.
If the score stays the same, United are top
If Citeh tie it up, which I am sure will happen, hat-tricks by Martial and Depay and Rooney's first league goal would put United on top anyway!
Eric Dier has a card to add to his goal. Then some Argie Bargie as Di Michelis fouls Lamela just outside the box. Di Michelis has already been booked , so he's lucky to be on the pitch
GOAL! Kane scores!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GOAL!!!
HARRY KANE HAS SCORED!!!
Jesus saves by Kane nets the rebound
Great free kick off the woodwork and Kane nets it
Woy is happy
Great free kick by Erikssen off the angle and Kane mopped it up.
GOAL !!! HARRY KANE SCORES HIS FIRST OF THE SEASON WITH A REBOUND OFF THE FREE KICK FROM ERIKSEN THAT CAME OFF THE POST.
No one picked Brendan to get the sack first but both Gooner and MUR picked him to get the "first vote of confidence" which could easily happen this weekend. I picked Wally for the same.
You all should read the comment I typed at 8 AM. Does that make me Nostradavidus.
We're going top???
Don't blow it against Sunderland
No goals conceded in first five games
Five in less than two
My opinion on the points for the German , Italian , and Spanish title winners is that they are worth very few points compared to other categories and as far as I know have yet to be the determining factor as to who wins the PPP. I think the points system is okay with those picks.
I do believe I said in midweek amidst all of the controversy about the PPP that it was a long season and that Citeh might not be the in the top spot for long.
Nostrabobus is back!
Fred fears that United's success in the Martial Arts may undo his team.
And I am Nostradavidus for my comment typed at 8 AM.
United at home to hapless Sunderland
United at home to hapless Newcastle ended nil nil when I was in Hawaii!
Not confident
Yikes ! I typed that Chadli took the free kick for the second goal, yet he;s coming on for eriksen. I wonder who took that free kick
I am confident because we were not singing Kung Fu Fightin' vs the Toon , but now have the Bruce Lee of strikers, so it will be a better situation for United.
Just wide by Sterling after that clearance from Dier was dying.
Agreed that the first Spuds goal was offside, but no excuses for Citeh trailing.
Agreed . The one thing we and Liverpool fans agree on.
Sterling's had a really good start at Citeh. Not quite sure why they've fallen apart these past two weeks. Complacency? Aguero's injury?
That Kane goal should have been ruled offside
Two out of three goals were illegal
Kane superbly turns Di Michelis , but a poor cross intended for Lamela.
Oh - Son had the ball in the net but he was ruled offside.
The Spuds have a goal disallowed for offside.
Ball in the net
This was called offside
Song at the back post but did he need to touch it
What a numpty if it was
Nani did that once with Ronaldo for Portugal... boy was Ronny pissed
UWS on the city bandwagon! LOL! Was the second goal illegal because Caballero went on a walkabout.
Kane has a blast parried out by Willy Caballero.
Caballero pushes away a shot from Kane.
I know that Pelligrini will gripe about two of the Spuds goals, but in private, he will give his players the hairdryer treatment about some keystone Cop defending.
could have been going in
Number One Son being treated as one by the Spuds fans As he's replaced by Clinton N'Jie. He wasn't Number One Sun when he was offside for the disallowed goal.
Citeh have played three London clubs in a row
Lost two.. shouldn't have won against Palace
FOUR ONE!!!!!!
GOAL! Eric Lamela kept his cool for once, but finally rounded the keeper and poked it home.
4-1!
GOAL !!! jIE OH JIE AS IT'S AN INSTANT IMPACT FROM CLINTON N'JIE AS HE TURNED KOLOROV THEN PUT IN A SUBLIME CROSS THEN LAMELA WALKED IT PAST CABBY INTO THE BACK OF THE NET THE SPUDS ARE THRASHING CITEH 4-1.
That was only Lamela's third ever Prem goal. He's scored a lot in the EL.
WAY HAY!!! Derby take a 1-2 lead at the Fake Dons in stoppage time. Bob will be delighted.
Citeh can make excuses , but their defense has been sliced apart just like a turkey on Thanksgiving.
what do Citeh and Barca have in common?
Citeh are looking a wee bit pathetic now.
This knocks their goal difference down a notch
They were plus 10 and now +7. United are at +4
I thought Citeh would be untouchable with GD
I told Tony to ask for raise tonight at the Walnut Tree
Derby won 3-1
United better go out and be positive early and go for the jugular !!!
Young Roberts is on for Aguero. Surely a sign that Manny is throwing in the towel.
