We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

The Moment's silence for Remembrance Day has concluded and now it's time for kickoff.
They're off from Villa Park
This sure a thankless task for Remy Garde.
Gana shoots wide for Villa in the first chance of the match for either team . Credit to Villa for holding their own with Citeh the first fifteen minutes of the match
Citeh break as Guzan fumbles a near post effort from Kolorov for a corner as Yaya picked out Sterling , who passed out to Kolorov . Then ping pong from the corner and Fernando snatched wide from close range.
De Bruyne has a pass cut out for a corner off a nice one two. A bout of head tennis from the corner and the ball eventually makes it back to Guzan
Boni is off on the sideline getting treated for what looks like a strained hammy as Citeh are temporarily a man down
That's it for the Boner as Navas is getting ready to come on. He's on and the Boner goes straight to the dressing room.
Citeh win a free kick about 25 yards out as De Bruyne goes down easily becaus eHutton had his hands on his back.
The free kick from Kolorov was chipped into the box and Kompany did not have any as he was out by the touchline with his back to goal and the ball went harmlessly out of play
A Final score in the FA Cup as Exeter City have won 0-3 at Didcot Town
Amavi tackles Sagna for a Citeh corner and a horrible overcooked corner from De Bruyne leads to a Villa counter through Carlos Gil . He gets past Fernandinho , but a last ditch intervention prevents a one on one with Joe HArt
Citeh nearly score in similar fashion as Sterling was put through and a last ditch intervention from Cieran Clark prevented a one on one with Guzan
Villa had lost the ball in midfield and a pass from Fernadinho was cleverly back heeled by Yaya to Sterling and he fluffed his lines at the vital momenet.
Otamnedi fouls Gil just outside the Citeh box and is booked for that. Gil went down really easily. Great chance for Villa.
A waste as Carlos Gil blasts the free kick well over the goal. They need to take advantage of those rare opportunities.
Whitehawk FC take the lead vs Abe Lincoln in the Cup.
A decent chance for Citeh as Sterling was unmarked in the box, but the pass from De Bruyne was just too long.
Cieran Clark is down after a clash of heads with De Bruyne.
He is up and back in action. A minute of stoppage time.
It's 0-0 at the end of a first half and Villa fans applaud the effort from their side and the fact that they have matched the top side in the Prem. Remy Garde has shown that Villa may be a more difficult side to defeat with him in charge.
The second half is underway
The latest scores in the Cup :
Oxford take the lead at Braintree while Newport take the lerad at Brackley , and Wycombe take the lead at Halifax.
Gana fouls Fernandinho about a foot outside the Citeh box from a lobbed pass by Navas.
Guzan pushes away a swerving shot from an angle from Kolorov. Villa got away with one there
Great close range save from Guzan from a close range header from Sterling off a great cross and run from Navas.
Citeh turning up the screw as they are in complete control for the first time this match
The replay shows that it was a missed sitter by Sterling as he had a free header in the six yard box and it was blocked by Guzan's face./
Sgan plays a one two and wins a corer off of Scott Sinclair
Yaya heads over from the corner by De Bruyne
Newport go two up at Brackley
Remy Garde gives instructions to Charlie Insomnia, who will make his first Villa appearance since the FA Cup Final
Navas has a pass cut out by Clark for a Citeh corner
The corner from Navas is cleared
Carles Gil gets a standing ovation for a pretty good shift and is replaced by Charlie Insomnia
Navas collects a long ball down the right as he gets behind Amavi and his pass is cut wide by De Bruyne from close range
Then high and wide from Sterling from 25 yards out
Insomnia wins a Villa corner off a nice pass from Alan Hutton
Hart punches away Villa's first corner of the match and was fouled.int he process.
A standing ovation for Scott Sinclair against his former club as he's replaced by BAcuna
Insomnia wins a corner off of Kompany
Fernadinho heads away the corner from Vertout
Gana fouls Kolorov about 30 yards out from goal
The free kick from Kolorov makes it out to the right by Yaya and Villa break from his cross.Ayew played through BAcuna, who overran the ball as it went harmlessly to HArt
Boos from Villa fans as former player, Fabian Delph, is on for Yaya
Whitehawk FC were leading Abe Lincoln 1-0 minutes before the half. Whitehawk lead 2-1 at the half
Kolorov has a long range effort well over.
The final roll of the dice for Remy Garde as big Rudy Gestede is on for Jordan Ayew.
Citeh counter with a change as young Ianacho is no for Sterling
Insomnia is down holding his head.
He's up and seems to be okay
Citeh players are upset because a powerful throw from Gestede is off of Hart for a corner. Citeh players are livid , but should be at their keeper for an embarrassing error. Fair play to Gestede
A decent French connection as Gestede stabs at the corner from Vertout and it's inches over.
Navas is tackled for a corner.
Gestede heads out the corner from Navas. Four minutes of stoppage time
Navas has a pass come off of Insomnia for a corner.
OH!!! A cross from Ianacho is headed on to the bar by Fernando off a short corner. That Brazi connection nearly lead to a late winner that would have been harsh on Villa.
Guzan booked for time wasting
Guzan strugglers to tip away a teasing cross from De Bruyne , then a close range effort from Kolorov is blocked as Villa struggle to clear.
It's over and in a changing of the Garde for Villa that get a really goo pint vs Citeh in 0-0 draw. Gooners will be delighted as they see this as a chance to move two points clear of Citeh
Whitehawk now lead Abe Lincoln 3-1
Yeovil take the lead at Maidstone United.
Morning, MUR - I had a sleep-in after a long week and am fully rested for the North London Derby. Thanks for getting us going. Gooner will indeed be happy by that earlier 0-0 draw for Citeh along with you lot.
So where are we with this one. Arsenal have been good in the Premiership but rotten in Europe, including getting tonked by Bayern in mid-week. Spurs have been "Spursy" as the Men in Blazers lot term them, always flattering to deceive. They're always just about hanging around the last Champions League slot but never quite there.
Hey Boys
I am all over the place this morning. Hope some of the time will be here
I did see some of the early game
Villa looked improved
Held on though
Arsenal to go top?
Teams already out at Anfield but teams still int he tunnel in North London
Tony's boss is amongst the Spurs fans today
His wife wouldn't let him wear his colors today. Apparently, the bloke that he is meeting is a bit of a nutter at times
Here come the teams
Good morning lads. I'm back and ready for the later ones. The North London Derby at the EM and Pool vs Palace can be seen on a link
Will the midweek matches affect these two teams
Spurs won at home but have a day less to recover. Arsenal lost away and were lucky only to lose 5-1
Line Ups

Some Cup results.
Aldershot 0 Bradford City 0
Brackley came from two down as it ended Desmond vs Newport to force a replay.
The Shrews were held 0-0
at Gainsborough Trinity. Wycomeb won 0-4 at Halifx
Yeovil won 0-1 at Miadstone while Withehawk have defeated Abe Lincoln 5-3. Oxford won 0-1 at Briantree
Another giant killing is on the cards as Chesham are one up at Bristol Rovers late in the second half.
The teams lining up on the pitch the Em:
Arsenal
Cech; Debuchy, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal; Coquelin, Cazorla; Campbell, Özil, Sanchez; Giroud. Subs: Gibbs, Gabriel, Arteta, Ospina, Flamini, Chambers, Iwobi.
Tottenham Hotspur
Lloris; Walker, Vertonghen, Alderweireld, Rose; Dier, Alli; Lamela, Dembele, Eriksen; Kane. Subs: Vorm, Davies, Trippier, Carroll, Mason, Onomah, Son.
Referee: Martin Atkinson (Bradford)
Sorry, UWS - you beat me to it. Great to have you boys on board this morning.
They're off from the EM
The Remembrance Day formalities are over and Spurs get us underway. Should be a fascinating one.
We're off
Spurs are undefeated since unluckily losing on the opening day to United at OT
Are they title contenders?
It's the North London Derby on NBCSN and Pool vs Palace on a link
The SPuds are much improved, but I'm not quite sure if they're ready to be title contenders . We shall see.
Why didn't Eriksen shoot there
United were already behind by this time
End to end stuff
Spurs should have done more there too
The Gunners had a good break , but took too long to shoot and cheaply conceded possession
Some fancy footwork by Lamella there but it comes to nothing. This one has started as if shot out of a cannon.
It's been an unusually low scoring weekend in the Prem with only eleven goals in eight matches. That's 1.27 goals a match. Sounds like Serie A of old.
BOOM BOOM. tHAT'S YOU NOT THE CANNON.
A draw is probably the best result for United, right boys?
Cheers, MUR!
Citeh found it tough going in a changing of the Garde at Villa.
A draw would be a decent result , but a SPuds win suits me in the PPP.
The announcer in the other match says Palace haven't scored from open play since August. That doesn't sound very accurate.
Right - a lot of us are losing points with the likes of Leicester and WH in the top five.
I am on NBCSN watching the Liverpool Palace match on the computer
Nice pic
You are NocitoSportscenter!
Spurs doing well at the moment
Far better than United did
I'm doing the same as UWS.
Can that be possible, even for Palace?
I gain a few points if the Spuds move back into the top five with a win
I am usually but have not given any scores today
The GoldySportscente has been working hard on FA Cup scores
A wasted free kick from the Gooners that fails to beat the first man
Alexis has a shot deflected for a corner.
Nice break from the Gunners but it comes to a corner.
Ozil getting debris from the pitch, presumably from a SPuds fan. Just like the rubbish on the pitch , so was the corner.
We need Liverpool not to win today... don't when them to go on a Klopper fed run of games with lots of points... beat Chelsea then lose at home to Palace will do me fine
So much for watching the match from Anfield. Some robotic voice said I have a virus, needed to call technical support ,and would lose my hard drive if I left the page. That was my cue to log out and back in. The hard drive is still in tact
Bristol Rovers did lose at home to Chesham... of course Rovers were non league just last season
Dembele has a shot blocked for a corner.
I reckon that Palace can handle them - they're a decent side this year with Cabaye running things.
And just as I type - Bolassie has scored for Palace.
I am Nostrabobus!
Stevie G in the stands at Anfield
Eriksen curls a shot well wide from a short corner.
GOAL!!!
Palace score in front of the Kop
Balasye
however you spell it
Well in Bob. That suits UWS and I .I klopp that goal
Nice finish.. right thru a defenders legs
Scoring in front of the KOP against Klopp's lads.
BOLASIE..... got it right
That's a grand total of a dozen Prem goals this weekend and the fourth scored in the first half.
As we are right now, West Ham would drop out of the top five and Spurs would take their place. Liverpool are 8th and Palace 10th.
I think my link is delayed a little
Campbell may be in some trouble here for raising an arm. Could be counted as unintentional.
With that goal Palace up to 8th
Liverpool in 10th
Braintree scored a late equalizer vs Oxford to force a replay. Well done to the team from Essex. Shrewsbury must have scored a last second winner at Gainsborough Trin ity as they win 0-1. A heartbreaker for the non leaguers.
Who would have predicted that at the beginning of the season?
GoldySportscenter hard at work... well done mate
Port Vale are one up vs Maidenhead United in the second half.
It's been a crazy season - and I'm loving it!
The sound is off again at the Em... come on NBC
The picture is ahead of the sound
Cheers UWS. Port Vale bvs Maidenhead is the only cup match remaining
eriksen took a free kick and the header from Dier was not far wide. The closest either team has come to scoring./
If Spurs win this, the top will be amazing
City 26
Arsenal 25
Leicester 25
United 24
Spurs 23
West Hame 21
Southampton 20
Chelsea 11
Good opening quarter or so to the game. Tottenham the better team so far, certainly the most threatening, and probably should be in the lead.
Three giant killings have occurred so far in the cup ,one each day . They are :
Salford 2 Notts County 0
Altrincham 1 Barnsley 0
Bristol Rovers 0 Chesham 1
The first two must be the greater upsets
I luv it!
Benteke with a header well saved by Hennesey
I would love that. The most wide open title race in years. does that illustrate the parity in the Prem?
Lemela with a a chance to break... why didn't he go straight to goal
Parity or all crap
I counted the number of returns I clicked to get to Chelsea's position... I love it
Mauricio Pochettino has been responsible for nine England players making their debuts. He's more responsible for the progress of the England team than any English coach. It's like an extra coach for England.
I would say parity based on the fact that the English teams are getting better results in Europe than last season. Other teams are improving.
The parity yes, but also the lack of quality at the top. It seems from the CL as if our top sides are not as good as the other European leagues' best sides - as if there is a gap between Real, Barca, Juve, Bayern, PSG and City, United, Arse, Chelski.
The league positions remind of a marathon. It's tight at the front and Chelsea is like the running huffing and puffing ,taking a break to puff on a ciggy.
GOAL! Harry Kane scores again in the Derby!
GOAL... HARRY KANE WITH THE GOAL!!
The sound is off
GOAL !!! KANE GIVES THE SPUDS THE LEAD.
Great bending ball from Danny Rose (LUFC Academy, of course) and Kane coolly stroked it home past Cech.
0-1 Spurs!
You'd have to say that that one was coming.
Both away teams in white winning at the moment... not expected
Sakko down hurt for Pool... jarred his knee
iT WAS A LONG sPUDS POSSESSION THAT CULMINATED IN A LONG LOFTED PASS FROM dANNY rOSE TO hARRY kANE AND HE FINISHED WELL PAST cECH
Bob will be pleased at the LUFC Academy influence in that goal.
A flash point between Giroud and Vertonghen . I missed the cause of that
He's trying to walk it off
Limping
Matt said something happened off the ball
How did no one see it
I didn't
Sakho seems to want to continue
I am pleased - Danny was well trained.
Currently, the title race is wide open, pending the final score.
Sakho would be a huge loss for the Reds as he's been one of their few consistent performers this season
Giro's angry about the shirt-pulling in the area but he barged Vertonghen over for afters. Watch that space!
Bolasie hits the net again but called back for a foul or offside... not sure
Giroud has some afters with Vert
Starting to get a bit chippy now, Debuchy and Delly Alli squaring up.
Debuchy fouls Ali and reminds him that the transfer from the Fake Dons to the Spuds was really evil.
I saw a bit of the early match today when Sterling wanted a pen... the color man and the blokes in the studio said there was contact... should be a pen... NO... THERE WAS CONTACT BECAUSE IT IS A CONTACT SPORT!!!!!
Sakho is still limping and is coming off being replaced by Loverin
Alexis was just offside as he lost his footing off the pass from Joel Campbell.
I didn't see where Sterling had a case for a penalty. How about Remy at the Brit yesterday? I say no for the reason UWS just mentioned.
Coutinho , who scored twice at SB last weekend, has tied it up for Pool vs Palace.
My link is way behind
Continho's goal just went in.. well past NBC's announcement
I am surprised that Coq Au Vin has yet to be booked.
That's still okay if Pool and Palace draw right?
Spurs look mighty comfy at the moment - Arsene will have to sort things out.
Kane strikes one well but Cech parries aside.
Cech pushes away a near post effort from Harry Kane.
So,
Spurs dominated United at OT but lost
Spurs are winning at the Em where United weren't in the game
Spurs are undefeated since the opening day of the season
Spurs walloped City
Why aren't they contenders for the title?
A draw from Anfield would be okay.
One added minute in NoLo
If they hold on to win then they are definitely in the mix. Good point, UWS, just as it was for Villa.
Half time
Well done Spurs
The Spuds are one up at the half thanks to a goal from Harry Kane.
Peep peep - the first half ends. This one still feels like a draw to be coming to me, but Spurs are sitting pretty. Changes to come, for sure.
HT at Anfield all square there
Just got this from Tony about his boss
Tony's not allowed to go with Colin cuz they lose horribly when Tony goes
Tony got a call from him saying that they were being herded in by so many police and the noise is the most he has ever known for a derby
Madienhead tie it up late at Port Vale
ends 1-1
So far so good for Colin.
Arsene made a change?
Second half underway and my computer is bloody annoying today
According to Becky, Arsene let HArry go from the Gunners Academy. That must really sting
Great save by Cech from Joel Campbell as he cut in.
Sorry . The save was by Lloris from Campbell.
Matt wants to know why Flamini came on for Santi???
NBC have still not sorted out the sound
Sound before picture
I just came back from answering a call from an annoying pollster and saw that the puds nearly went two up. Eriksen was just wide from one two with Harry Kane.
Spurs upcoming matches after the international break
West Ham H
Chelsea H
West Brom A
Newcastle H
Sotton A
Norwich H Boxing Day
That is a puzzler , to be honest. Coq Au Vin should be holding down the midfield unless Arsene feels his team were being extremely overrun in the middle of the park
Off the bar by Giroud... that was close!
How was he so wide open?
Where's Bobby gone?
OH!!!! Giroud has a header come off the top of the bar from a curling free kick
Puncheon takes a shot... inches wide.... of the corner flag
Lamela is the first player booked as he was guilty of a naughty foul on Coq Au Vin. He will be suspended for the match vs the Hammers right after the international break, giving him an extra week to rest up for the clash vs Chelsea.
Struth.. what on earth was Cech doing there!!!
Did he all of a sudden become Australian and go walkabout
Thanks for bringing up the Spuds schedule. Those matches all could end up in Spuds victories. They could easily be top of the pops by the end of the Boxing Day fixtures.
Kos heads wide from a free kick.
