Jingle Bells, ManYoo Smells....
Tottenham ran away, oh what fun it is to see Leeds win away on Boxing Day - ay! A very happy holiday period to all of you LOBers out there. I'm here at the crack of dawn to enjoy a full day of the good stuff. We start fairly modestly with Watford v. Palace. Then we've got the usual spurt of matches at 10am, including my beloved Leeds United away at PNE. Then we end up with Citeh away to Hull at the end of the day. Join me for all the festive fun, won't you?

Watford appear to have nicked Everton's "Z Cars" routine - the teams are coming out of the tunnel at Vicarage Road:
Watford: Gomes, Kaboul, Prodl, Britos, Janmaat, Behrami, Guedioura, Holebas, Amrabat, Capoue, Ighalo.
Subs: Deeney, Cathcart, Doucoure, Zuniga, Sinclair, Kabasele, Pantilimon.
Crystal Palace: Hennessey, Kelly, Dann, Delaney, Ward, Flamini, Cabaye, Zaha, Puncheon, Townsend, Christian Benteke.
Subs: Speroni, Campbell, Lee, Fryers, Mutch, Husin, Wan Bissaka.
Referee: Mark Clattenburg (Tyne & Wear)
It's a new era for Palace today, with Pardew sacked on Christmas Eve and Fat Sam Allardyce back from the wilderness at the helm.
Stat of the day: Mark Clattenburg is our referee today, which is not great news for Palace. Since their promotion back to the Premier League in 2013, Palace have failed to win – and lost seven – any of the 10 Premier League matches he has overseen.
Peter Drury and Clive Allen on the microphones this afternoon, as we get set to kick off. Both sides in their traditional kits at Vicarage Road.
Early corner for the away side. Collected by Gomez.
Amarabat appears to have crocked himself tackling Zaha. He'll need to come off.
Sorry, that's Daryl Janmaat who's coming off. Juan Zuniga is getting prepared to replace him. Only 18 seconds into the match.
Close call there, Zaha going down just outside the box. Cabaye to swing a dangerous one in here.
Cabaye tried a shot and it deflected out for a corner.
Puncheon swings in the corner and Gomez punches clear.
Zaha is having a field day. Zuniga simply can’t live with him, although in fairness the subsitute isn’t getting much help from his team-mates, which is badly needed.
Townsend tries a speculative one from distance.
Now Behrami is hobbling off. Walter Mazzari's game plan has been completely upended here. We're only 13 minutes in and Troy Deeney is having to come on for the defender.
So now we've got a 4-4-2 with Deeney up alongside Ighalo. That's what we wanted to see from the off but injuries have had to force the Italian's hand about it.
End to end stuff now.
Oh - Townsend stands up a cross but Benteke couldn't direct the header past Gomez. Good chance there for the Belgian.
And now Watford have their first corner.
Troy Deeney has been stuck on 99 goals for Watford for 10 matches now.
Already Watford looking a better team for the presence of Deeney, who flicks a delightful first touch into the path of Ighalo, who thus far, hasn’t had a kick.
Some wag on the Guardian blog has commented: "“What is going on with the Big Fat Man’s shave?” emails Harry Carl Pocock. “His face is cut to ribbons. He may need the services of a professional, or at least to remember to turn the light on.”
Oh - Cabaye shoots just wide there after Benteke's effort against Prodl had run to him.
GOAL! Cabaye scores after a lovely move. Palace are well worth it!!!
Townsend did well there to turn his man run into space and then play Cabaye in. Cabaye ran on to the ball and swept it past Gomez into the corner. Great goal!
0-1 Fat Sam's Palace.
I'm not sure that any other Premiership team throws caution to the wind with a front line like Townsend, Cabaye, Benteke and Zaha. Crikey!
That goal will pull Palace above West Ham into 14th.
Palace have a penalty!
Benteke latches on to a sloppy backpass from Zuniga and Gomez upends him.
Benteke to take....
Oh - terrible penalty there. Stroked it straight at Gomez. That was horrible.
Still 0-1
An eventful first half is coming to an end here. Still poised for some more action in the second half.
That penalty save has lifted Watford. You wouldn’t put it past them getting an equaliser before half-time.
Benteke has run out of warnings and he goes into Mark Clattenberg's book.
Happy Boxing Day Bob
I am back from my errands and I am sitting on the couch with my new laptop
Two wins for our Uniteds today?
Now Jason Puncheon has gone into the book. So this half is not ending quite as well for Fat Sam as it began.
Morning, UWS - great to have you on board for Boxing Day. Are you loving the new Mac Air?
Yes, please - two wins for our sides today.
Fifty minutes on the clock now - surely time is up. And is.
A really good first half, with most of the attacking from Palace. Watford have had two defenders off for injuries.
And the Watford DJ nicely plays a bit of George Michael. RIP.
Missed that from the DJ
All football programing on NBCSN from 7 a.m. until 3 a.m tomorrow.....boy we are spoiled
Good morning , lads. I'm up with some coffee brewing and ready for the second half. Happy Boxing Day.
I think there's at least one match on every day between today and Wednesday next week. A busy holiday period.
Away we go for the second half
What is with Big Sam? I want him to be relegated at one point to shut everyone up
Back for the second half action.
Back with a cuppa and an everything bagel for brekkies as the second half begins.
Me too, but I don't think he will. Even a decent manager should be able to have this team finish mid table.
Happy Boxing Day David
Yup, Liverpool v Stoke tomorrow and Southampton v Spurs on Wednesday
Naught by Scott Dann on Guediora just outside the box.
Hennessey does well to gather the free kick from Guediora.
On Thursday, Leeds visit Villa Park
Friday Hull take on Everton
Then full slate on Weekend and on Monday!
Thanks, Dave.I'm delighted to join everyone for the action. It's a Chrismukkah miracles of sorts.
Why didn't Zaha shoot????
Welcome to the Boxing Day fun, MUR!
I think there are six Prem matches next Monday and the rest are split up between Tuesday and Wednesday. Unfortunately I work every day next week.
Thanks, Bob. I'm delighted to be around today. I was going to sleep in till the 10AMers , but couldn't sleep any longer.
Jose Holebas picks up his requisite yellow card.
Watford have come out looking for the equalizer. Fat Sam will be playing for the clean sheet.
Fred is napping. He must be dreaming if he thinks Moyes will make a successful return to OT.
Fat Sam thinks that defending a 1-0 lead is the easiest thing in football. I heard he's giving the Hornets players a lump of coal after the match
Oh - Ighalo was nearly in there on the turn. Wide of the mark.
OH!!! Route One footie from the Hornets as the ball eluded Deeney and Ighalo shot wide from a narrow angle.
I'm sure Bob would be elated if Leeds win at Scrooge's place where a lump of coal is considered a bonus .
Fred must be dreaming....
I only have this week off but also Monday as well because NYD is on a Sunday
You don't get Monday off?
So, did any of you lot get any good footie related Christmas gifts? The Gooner gave me a biography of Tony Currie. The only problem - he's wearing a Sheffield United kit on the cover!
I'll be back at work on Jan 3.
I go back next Monday. It is a teacher work day, but the trade off is that I was off all last week. I will be around for most of the early match and will try to see if I can watch the other matches on the NBC link.
No footie gifts. It's been an unusual holiday period because Elizabeth's mother was in the hospital.
Oh what a bummer about the lousy cover
BUT... I bet you it's a quality book by a quality player
I did get a Man U cover for my laptop but that's it
Tom got a United shirt that they wear on the sidelines before coming on. A United jacket and sweatshirt. Matt got a Dortmund shirt and Salford City shirt too
This is very quickly descending into an ugly, scrappy game, which is just how Fat Sam likes it.
Is the early match because it's the marquee match? This match was not a top flight fixture until last season and not a second division fixture until 1981.
Matt let himself down a bit on the presents. Golf's not very popular round here.
Bob's bruv has a wicked sense of humor. Right player , wrong jersey?
Don't think it is the marquee match up...they just wanted to get it over and done with while most people are recovering from Christmas Day or traveling to their own match
Zuniga wins a Hornets corner.
He was well intentioned. I'm looking forward to a good read but I may skip the Bramall Lane years.
Watford have a penalty now!!!!
I like the Salford City shirt he got
Penalty to Watford
Players are just stupid
PENALTY HORNETS AS DELANEY IS CALLED FOR A RUGBY TACKLE . SCOTT DANN COULD HAVE BEEN CALLED AS WELL.
Troy Deeney has a chance to get his ton for the club....
And he does! Blasts straight down the middle!!!
1-1!
Troy Deeney to try and score for the first time since October... his 100th goal!!
GOAL !!!! TROY DEENEY SCORES HIS 100TH WATFORD GOAL AS HE TIES IT UP FROM THE SPOT.
Fat Sam must be royally pissed.
Why do keepers guess? If the keeper reacted to the kick he would have saved it! Keepers shouldn't guess. React like you do for every other shot during the match. If it is a good enough pen its going to beat you. If not, you can save it... you can't if you dive out of the way
Zaha goes on a solo run and is barged by Prodl as he wins a Palace free kick
I'll bet he is - didn't get that vaunted clean sheet he was looking for. Scott Dann let him down.
Jason Puncheons in the free kick and Scott Dann heads over.
Jordan Mutch comes on for Andros Townsend. Not sure what the point of that is - Townsend was really good in the first half.
Palace had a chance there!!
Shadow is at me for a walk ...it sunny but freezing
I am going to get it done with right now and be back for the three o'clockers
Ill be back
TTFN
Jordan , who has not played Mutch footie this season, on for Andros.
Cheerio, mate - have a good walkies.
Cheers, UWS. Keep warm.
It's dreary looking, but warm and muggy enough outside to wear shorts.
Peter Drury , the announcer, is a Watford fan. I didn't notice him hiding his excitement when Deeney scored.
Drury did seem excited about that Deeney ton, running through the other players who'd done it.
Based on the intensity of the chomping, I expect Fat Sam to hurl objects across the room when this match ends,.
He was on the Watford FC show that is broad cast on NBCSN. He claims he is neutral when he announces Watford matches, but I didn't notice that during the equalizer.
A positive change from Fat Sam as Frazier Campbell is on for Flamini. A n extra striker as Fat Sam is going for the win.
Ighalo heads straight to Hennessey
Was that show any good?
Cardiff is one up at Peter Griffin Park while the Shrimpers are two up vs the Real Dons and the Orient express is three up vs Crawley.
I only saw one episode, but thought it was a pretty decent show.
Aldershot defetaed Woking 4-0 in a local derby as the visitors were never Woking up.A relegation local derby as Dick York is one up at North Ferriby United.
Only five minutes remaining as the Hornets counter with an attacking change as former Pool trainee, Jerome Sinclair, is on for Zuniga.
A bit like the Liverpool one, I suspect. I'll have to DVR it for later viewing.
Zaha picks up a yellow card for a dive in the penalty area. Fat Sam isn't doing his blood pressure any good.
Zaha is booked for a poor attempt to win a penalty as it was a horrible flop.
Is Fat Sam sure he want s to get back into the rat race?
Will you celebrate if Leeds win at Scrooge's house today?
Crawley pull one back at the Orient express, but still trail 3-1
I don't know why he would.
Nice chest control and shot but Hennessy was well behind it. Into stoppage time.
Four minutes of stoppage time as Hennessey makes a decent near post save.
Britos picks up a late, late yellow and a suspension for the match on New Years Day against Spurs.
Max Britos receives his fifth booking of the season and is suspended for the match vs the Spuds on New Year's Day
Jerome Sinclair called for a foul on Cabaye,.
Sparky will go for walkies once this match ends. II will be back in time for the traditional 3 PM kickoffs.
Since I don't have a pet, I'll be heading to the shower.
That's it as it finishes 1-1 . I'm not sure how Fat Sam will feel about the result, but Palace let yet another lead slip due to more stupidity.
So - Fat Sam gets a point on his debut for Palace. Many drab draws to come, I suspect. They've got a lot of attacking power from the Pardew era but Sam will no doubt load up the side with niggly foulers.
Great to be squeaky clean for the 10 AMers.
Off to the shower.
There are plenty of those already and that may be a good idea given Palace's league position.
I'm back from a chilly walk
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
Man Utd XI: De Gea; Valencia, Jones, Rojo, Blind; Carrick, Herrera, Mata, Pogba, Lingard, Ibrahimovic.
I wish Rashford and Martial were getting more of a game
My phone link for SS has started well
Lovely jubilee
Big Sam complaining about the ref giving cards for his team an not for Watford
Can't managers just accept decisions during the match without complaining
It isn't SS. It is Premier League Live
I hope it changes
Miki is on the bench for United
WHY NOT STARTING!!
Cardiff has scored a late winner at Brentford
Rooney picked up an injury during warm up and is not involved
Take that back.... Brentford score a late equalizer...Desmond
Yes...SS is going to be on
Desmond stays for good at Griffin Park
Man U have won mored Boxing Day matches than any other club
Just looked it up
They have played 92 matches and have won 50 of them 54%
Next up Oxford at 51%, Brighton 49, Preston 47 Huddersfield 46 and Liverpool at 46
Leeds tied in 58th place with 36%
We are off... please play well...please score goals
The traditional 3 PM Boxing Day matches are underway. COME ON MAN UNITED
Jamie Vardy wearing a Jamie Vardy mask in the stands
Not a good pass by Pogpants and not good at waiting for the ball by Lindy
I have United vs Fred's lads on one channel and the Foxes vs the Toffees on the other. The Foxes lifted the trophy at the conclusion of this fixture in May
I really don't see what everyone sees in Pogba
Just back in time for the kick-off at OT - come on, the two Uniteds!!
Daman... just too hard from Lingard
Wolves take the lead against Bristol C
SS showing all the Championship goals today
Lovely jubbley
United trying to be too cute
Get the ball in the box
Sparky decided to pick on Fred instead of eating brekkies. Sounds like Sparky is rooting for United
The teams on display at OT, for the sake of the archives:
Man Utd: de Gea, Valencia, Jones, Rojo, Blind, Ander Herrera, Carrick, Pogba, Mata, Ibrahimovic, Lingard. Subs: Martial, Smalling, Rashford, Romero, Mkhitaryan, Fellaini, Darmian.
Sunderland: Pickford, Jones, Djilobodji, Kone, Van Aanholt, Larsson, Ndong, Denayer, Anichebe, Borini, Defoe. Subs: Mannone, Khazri, O’Shea, Love, Asoro, Honeyman, Embleton.
Referee: Martin Atkinson.
Trying to be too slick
Marvelous touch from Jamie Vardy, IMHO.
Bob will be hoping for plenty of leads goals at Ridsdale's place. Why he's even worse than scrooge. Right, Bob? Better than any holiday tales.
Carrick volleys well wide while the Toffees are doing all the early attacking at Filbert Street.
If Brighton get promoted this season, what number will they be for premier league teams?
Talking about Toffees, a former one in the form of Anichebe is down under a challenge from Phil Jones.
Anichibe is called for a foul... seems to land on his shoulder...is in pain
I know it's in the upper 40s. I'm thinking around 47th.
Valencia ... Sunderland's new physio says there needs to be a change
The Black Cats are in almost as much debt as the U.S. govt, so no new signings for Moyes in January. His deserved lump of coal.
Rotherham take the lead vs Wigan
Victor Anichebe is receiving treatment to his left shoulder and looks in some discomfort. That could be the end of his afternoon.
I would guess around the same - close to 50, right?
Well, Valencia is going to get fired
Anichibe is back on
Robles does well to save a long range effort from Amrty on a rare Foxes attack
They would be #48.... well done both of you
Of course Bob overbid
LOL.I would go for that as the Black Cats win a corner on a rare attack
I did - MUR gets the prize.
Djili has two volleys blocked by United defenders off the corner then passed all the way back to Pickford in typical Moyes style.
Goal in Wales... West Ham scores
Ex Swan Ayeu with the goal
United starting to suck
Thanks, UWS. Only off by one. Nice try , Bob. We were both close.
Sunderland on top
West Ham have taken the lead at the Liberty Stadium. More bad news for Bob Bradley. A bit of a howler for Flappy and Ayew on hand for a tap in.
Barnsley take the lead vs lowly Blackburn
More misery for Bob Milton Bradley
Villa have taken the lead vs Richard Burton
No shots by United... they do know they can't score if they don't shoot
Bob will not be pleased that the Evil Lions have taken the lead vs Swindon.
I don't want patience from side. I want risk taking and getting shots on goal
Oh - great ball from Pogs finds Valencia who tries to find Mata at the near post. Corner.
Brucie will be pleased about his directing as Villa take the lead int their first ever meeting vs Richard Burton.
Alexis Sánchez lashes a shot wide for Arsenal from just outside the penalty area.
Agreed, UWS. We are very impatient in terms of United scoring and there's Dafoe with a long range effort well wide.
Daley Blind gets a yellow for a blatant tug on the shirt. What can he be complaining about?
Daley Blind must be a she stupidly fouls Anichebe inches outside the box. Nearly a penalty
Blind fouls on the edge of the box... horrible defending!
LEEDS TAKE THE LEAD
Decent strike from Van Arnholt and Twilight palms it away.
Decent save by De Get
Not liking what I am seeing
De Gea superbly saves the free kick from PVA.
YESSSSS!!!!!!
United want a pen at the other end.. nothing given
No pen for me...wonder if Jose kicked a water bottle
Mata goes down easily under a challenge Definitely not a pen.
Kemar Roofe with his second goal for the club - he's been a revelation this season.
Congratulations , mate . Kemar Roofe with the goal . That will show Ridsdale a thing or two. You will show him a lump of coal/
Sunderland have looked the more dangerous
This is going to be another pisspoor home performance
We could be top if we beat Burnley, Stoke, Arsenal and West Ham
Cambridge take the lead...they are in the playoffs
Chelsea take the lead
United are clueless trying to break a team down
Pedro with Champions Elect goal
I know it's Boxing Day, but already our third phone call of the morning from a charitable organization. More than United shots on goal.
23 minutes gone...no shots
They showed a replay of that Hammers goal. A really soft one to concede as the Swans have regularly done while Bradley has been in charge.
At least it's not Diego "Bloody" Costa with the goal - he's suspended today. Pedro has notched it.
Crikey - and you weren't even on my list of Trump supporters to get put on the list of progressive causes.
WAY HAY !!! LEEDS GO TWO UP AT RIDSDALE'S PLACE. THAT'S A WAY TO GIVE HIM A TASTE OF HIS OWN MEDICINE.
Sacko the scorer, with a sack of coal for Ridsie.
