Morning, mate! Thanks for getting us started. I can't really get excited about today's World Cup Final, and I feel that watching it is more duty than pleasure. I haven't enjoyed France at all this tournament. They barely got out of first gear during the group stages, needing an 80th minute own goal to get past Australia, another jammy goal to dispense with Peru and then drew against Denmark. They've truly only shined when pushed in the Round of 16 against Argentina. Otherwise, it's been a very tactical, modern and boring game from Les Bleus. It's true, I had enjoyed Croatia up until the semi-finals; however, that match killed that for me. Now, they're dead to me. So, sure I'm watching but I doubt whether I'll enjoy it. Bah humbug!

The lost host nation to win a World Cup was France in 1998. So much for home field advantage.

They've mentioned a couple of times that Didier Deschamps could become the third man to win the World Cup as player and manager. I know that Franz Beckenbauer is one of them but who is the other?

Croatia have a similar managerial situation to England. Their manager was not hired until last October and had previously managed in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Took over last October for the remaining two qualifiers and the playoff against Greece.Not sure how he went from managing in the Middle East to managing in the world Cup final, but he turned out to be the right choice for them,

I think Vida has had a better tournament than Lovren and that Rakitic has had a better tournament than Modric.
Lovren one of the best defenders in the world? He's not even the best defender for Croatia nor for Liverpool.

The reason why I said 22 for Croatia is because Kalinic was sent home and could not be replaced. They still have three keepers, but only 22 players because one was sent home for being a real plonker.
