A Sunday Treat
Morning, chaps! We've got a real Sunday morning treat ahead of us this morning. No, I'm not talking about the mid-table scrum of Everton v. Bournemouth, which starts the day. I'll be skipping that one in favor of doing some chores around the house. But I'll be back with bells on for the late offering between Spurs and United. This one is the first real test for OGS' newly invigorated United side. Join me later on for a proper Premier League match.

Morning Boys,
I am back from a very cold walk with Shadow. Glad it is already done
Into the last ten minutes at Goodison. The hosts lead 1-0. They were lucky not to be behind in the first half and the crowd was booing them.
Team news from Wembley
Spurs: Lloris, Trippier, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Davies, Winks, Sissoko, Eriksen, Alli, Son, Kane.
Subs: Rose, Sanchez, Lamela, Llorente, Foyth, Gazzaniga, Skipp.
Man Utd: De Gea, Young, Lindelof, Jones, Shaw, Ander Herrera, Matic, Lingard, Pogba, Martial, Rashford.
Subs: Mata, Lukaku, Andreas Pereira, Fred, Dalot, Romero, McTominay.
Of course, in the background is MoPo. Is he staying or is he going to Old Trafford?
If he says no, will it be Ole? News today is that Southgate is on United's shortlist... I don't want him at Old Trafford... I want him to stay at England!!
I've seen Simone on the list... I DON'T WANT HIM... Just another Jose!!
It is bucketing down at Goodison!!
It's not raining, it's Liverpool crying... quote from the Birth of the Beatles btw
As for the big match, I am confident that United will give it a shot. They may not win but they will not go out try not to lose
I just think our back four is not good enough to keep out Spurs.
Hope for a good match
Ole talking on talkSport...we need to attack teams!
Love it
5 added times at Goodison
Nice movement from the Cherries... shot blocked
Here we go... bloody subbing
Bournemouth has had numerous late corners... no short ones... but still hasn't scored
Everton break... and score the sealer... Sub Calvert-Lewin
Just enough time to kick off... they kick off and whistle goes immediately
Everton win 2-0
So, United pay Spurs back for the three nil loss at Old Trafford with a three goal victory at Wembley and United will move into fifth place above the Arsenal on GD
Good morning, UWS. Here to join you hopefully for that payback. Would be great for United confidence.
The earlier match wasn't the greatest. Hoping for a much higher standard of play in this match
Morning, boys. I'm certainly glad that I skipped the early one in favor of doing something productive. In the end, that 2-0 win means not a lot. Neither Everton nor Bournemouth are title contenders or relegation contenders. On to the big 'un!
Good morning, Bob. Great to have you around for the big match.
Just read the shortlist that UWS posted. Agreed 100% with the assessment. Yes to MO PO and No to Southgate and Simeone for the reasons mentioned.
Teams in the tunnel at Wemberley now.
Here come the teams out onto the Wembley turf...United wearing white shorts... makes me happy
Early enough kick off so there is no cap on attendance... pretty much a full house
The Dean of officials in charge of this match. Don't have a good feeling about that. Might as well be Jimmy Dean.
Agreed - Mo Po would be a perfect fit at OT. But will he want to come.
There is an agreement with the Brent Council that only a certain amount event... any event...can be a full house
We are off
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
They're off from Wembley.
Already did better than a few years ago... we were already one down
COME ON MAN UNITED!
That's right. We were one down in a midweek match ten seconds in. That was a repressed memory
Very friendly greeting between the two managers. And we're set to go. Both sides in their classic kits.
Come on, you Red Devils!
Cross from Trippier intended for Harry Kane and not Abel to reach it's target as it was just too long.
Harry Kane the first Spurs player to notch 20 goals in five consecutive seasons. What a record!
Arlo mentioned that the expected attendance would be 70,000. Isn't the capacity more than that?
Aubama, Kane and Salah now all locked together on 14 goals at the top of the GBB charts.
That's impressive when you consider the likes of Jimmy Greaves are among their great goal scorers.
You're quite the statto this weekend. That three way tie needs to remain the same until next weekend.
Really warm in Dubai. Even warmer than here.
How is Kane saying that wasn't a foul?
That Shaw was late by Harry Kane as he is not Abel to get away with fouling.
It's been a pretty mild here, too, in WNY. Mustn't grumble.
Not Shaw why he thought that.
Here too. Can't complain
Oh - good move from Spurs ends with a run from Winks and a cross shot that goes wide.
Trippier goes past Yash and wins a corner after a through ball from Number One Son found Harry Winks and his shot went across the box.
Great pass by Son.. Winks misses his chance
Come on United!!
I'll take a match for Spurs like Wolves... all Spurs but United win easily in the second
Corner headed out and the shot from Harry Winks made it halfway to Hertfordshire.
United haven't sat back but they just need the ball
oooh... first chance for United... not a good effort for Lingard!
should have passed it
OH!!! Lindy should have scored Great cross by Yash not properly cleared and Lindy shot wide from close range
First good move from United ends with Lindy blasting over.
another great break from United... should have gone to Martial
Now Rash is in on goal and pulls a save out of Lloris. He might have squared it to Lindy.
Rash had a soft effort easily saved by Lloris on the break after a nice pass was karate chopped to him
Trippier Shaw was lucky to win a corner
United with another break.... This is looking good!
Blown it a couple of times tho!!!
United break off the corner , but ended with a poor cross easily cleared.
Oh - Martial was nearly in but the ball to him was too heavy. United look great on the break, though.
Agreed. United Great on the break. A shame about the final pass.
United are creating much more than Spurs!
Toby hits the ball off of Pogba, hoping to win a goal kick, but it's awarded a s a United corner.
United get a corner... it was deflected off of Toby
Come on MAN U
Come on MAN U
Come on MAN U
Wembley pitch looking much better these days
Long ball from Rash for Lindy too long, but the right idea.
Rashford almost in again...offside
Nice pass from Rash and a speedy run past Toby results in a near post shot karate chopped, but saved by LLoris
Martial... saved by Lloris... This is how United are supposed to play!!
More shots already then we in five games with Jose in charge
Near post effort karate chopped and saved by Lloris off a nice long ball from Rash
Herrera's middle name is Megan.... he's been megged about four times already so far
Clash of heads between Ben Davies and Lindelof. Foul called on Davies.
BOOM BOOM , Basil!
Nice one, UWS!
Since Ben Davies is starting that means the LUFC Academy factor is not available at this time.
Btw, Megan is by far the most popular name among my students. I have one or two in every class.
United are so positive compared to the last few years
LOVE IT
No matter who scores first, the other one will still be able to come back
United look a completely different side these days from the way that they were playing under Mou.
Delle Alli wins a corner off of Matic after United failed to clear their lines.
Struth.. ball falls at Kane's feet...how??
Harry Kane has a shot blocked off the corner from Trippier then United counter through Rash
Martial has a pop at goal... fine by me
Kung Fu Panda tries a pop from distance. Well over the mark.
Then a shot is karate chopped several feet over from just outside the box.
Are any of those Megan's footballers?
Phew...Son didn't shoot!
Jones blocks from eriksen after Kane passed to Son.
Really good football from both of these sides - it's a pleasure watching this match.
Not that I'm aware of, mate. I've got a couple of swimmers in my latest group.
Did you see Leeds former striker Masinga died at the age of 49?
I don't remember him
Definite improvement from United as they're showing that they can compete with one of the top sides on the road. That would not have been true in recent years.
Ball in the net... Kane is offside!
Phew! Spurs have the ball in the net through Kane but it's flagged offside.
PHEW!!! harry kane scored but it's disallowed for offside.Nice cross from Trippier, laid off by Delle Alli, and Kane about a yard offside.
Yeah - that was sad. I was thinking of posting something. He and Lucas Radebe were two South African footballers signed from Kaiser Chiefs in a joint deal. Radebe ("The Chief") did really well for us but Phil never really made that big an impression. Still sad to lose him so young.
Already... this should show the United Board... Ole is good enough
That would be a great post. definitely a great read, Bob.
I was wondering the same. If United have a super second half of the season would OGS get the job on a permanent basis.
I agree. If OGS is doing so well, why not keep him in the position? I think that David O'Leary was in a similar situation. Former pro who was a young replacement and did well and was kept on.
The Spuds break as Jones treats the Spuds player as anything but Number One Son
Then Harry Winks with a long range effort halfway to Brighton.
The plan is for OGS to rejoin Molde. Is that cheese or bread?
Well... that didn't end well!
I'm Shaw none of us want Molde cheese nor bread for lunch. Sound about right?
Ignoring
Dracula is in the house.
Drac, who played for both clubs and Ledley King , a former Spud , in attendance.
Berbatov and King in the stands
Who does Berba want to win?
LOL!
Cissy pulls a groin and is down. That would be a huge loss.
SIssoko is down for the count, receiving treatment.
Lamela warming up to replace him.
That change is being made.
Sissoko wants to continue
Lamella warming up
He stays on
I guess not as Cissy is back on. It looked serious.
Sissoko down again
He will be off
Trippier complaining that United kept playing... shut up
Cissy down again then a spat as Trippier having a go at Kung Fu Panda. United not obligated to kick the ball out
Bit of argybargy between Trippier and Kung Fu Panda over some nonsense.
Lamela on for Cissy
Trippier being an idiot . He would not have kicked the ball out
Coming up to half time...RASHFORD SCORES!!!!!!!!!!!!
YESSSSSSSSSS!!!!RASH GIVES UNITED THE LEAD ON THE BREAK
GOAL! Rashford blasts home on the break! Great goal!
0-1!
Devastating break there, with a brilliant through ball from Pogs and a clinical finish by Rash.
Great finish but I think De Gea would have saved that!
Trippier gifted United possession and a long ball from Pogba found Rash behind the Spuds defense and he finished superbly past Lloris
Into stoppage time.
Great ball by Pogba
Into a pair of those minutes
This definitely shows that United have improved. Never would have given this type of performance when Jose was in charge
I want United to go out in the second half and score more!!
Half time
Nice job UNITED!
United one up at the half
United up to Arsenal with 41 points... still 6 points behind Chelsea
Half time at Wemberley and things couldn't be going better for United. Well done, lads! You must be delighted.
Thanks, Bob. Not just pleased with the score , but with the way United are playing.
United level with Arsenal
United only SIX points behind Chelsea
United only SEVEN points behind Spurs!
Only NINE behind City
Only SIXTEEN behind Pool... okay...pushing it a little!
If I'm not mistaken, United need three more goals without reply to move ahead of the Gunners on goal difference.
Teams out for the second half... Come on United....keep it going!
We are off
The second half is underway.
COME ON MAN UNITED!
Le Sox not giving United much credit
I think they have created more chances than Spurs
Hopefully, Wolves can get a shock win at the Etihad tomorrow like they did at Wembley a few weeks ago.
Two more goals...they will have score more goals than Arsenal
Come on, you Red Devils!
Why didn't Martial not take a pop!!!!
Agreed. United have been the better side. They deserve to be in the lead.
Kane in... just like Rash.. De Gea saves!!
Oh - great break there for Spurs and De Gea did well to save with his boot!
OH!!!Harry Kane and not Abel to score thanks to a great kick save by De Gea.
Now looking at it.. it would be completely equal
Arsenal would be top on Alpha order
Even better. Two goals definitely realistic . Depending upon the result tomorrow. Second may be attainable , but definitely third place.
Alli with a great header... great save
Arlo going pro Spurs again.
Del in the book
That was a great save...not decent!!!
And another good save - this time from Dele.
OH!!! Superb save by De Gea off a header from Delle Alli. Then Delle Alli booked for a foul on a United break.
So, United need three more to go fifth
Bloody alphabet
Ben Davies with a foul on Lindy. Should have been booked.
Not a fan of alphabet soup!
Come on United.... start playing
Pogba wins a corner off of Ben Davies.
oooh.. Pogba with the header...saved
Why say he's a WC winner... simple save!
OH!!! Lloris saves a header from Pogba off a cross from Yash after the corner was headed away
Well said Dixon... Arlo wants it to be world class
The three geniuses calling us decent. We're better than that if we're winning away to the third placed side and considering how United have improved.
Agreed - that was a routine save from Rash's header.
oooh.... almost by Pogba... so glad he took the space in front... got the ball again... saved!
I could have made that save.
OH!!!United nearly went two up. Toby blocked his shot then he followed up, and Lloris finger tipped over his chipped shot.
How many players on the pitch played in the World Cup Semis?
Lloris fists away the corner from Yash then well wide by Rash
We think it is TEN
Good header by Kane beating his man to the ball. Easy save for De Gea.
Spurs
Lloris, Vert, Ader, Trip, Kane, Alli
United
Pogba, Young, Lindy, Rash
OH! De Gea does well to save a header from Harry Kane off the corner.
Rash can be a hothead too...has to cut that out
I had counted nine , but looking at the list it's ten. I think I forgot Toby
Oh - free header for Lamela but he got it all wrong.
Yes. Ten must be correct.
Swap keepers... Spurs would be two up
Commentators now want De Gea to get a card
All three are anti-United
"excellent strength from Winks" as he loses the ball to Pogs
Great save by Pogba...saved again
OH!!! Great save by Lloris from Pogba from a shot just outside the box headed for the corner
Not a decent shot by Pogba... thought it was better
Agreed. They seem to be anti United today. probably because they're pro Citeh
Great tackle by Lindeloff
Long range effort from eriksen straight to De Gea after receiving a pass from Harry Kane, who went past two United players
Connor McNamara on the BBC
"This team is unrecognizable for the team which played under Jose Morinho"
Another great save by De Gea!!
More brilliance from De Gea - you lot would be losing without him.
OH!!! Another great kick save by De Gea from Delle Alli , who was through with just the keeper to beat. Then the Spuds win a free kick just outside the United box.
Free kick chance for Spurs... Herrera with a yellow... wee bit harsh
Who to take... Erickssen... just wide
Herrera booked for that foul. Free kick from Eriksen goes wide
SHUT IT ARLO! De Gea is not taking that long. Not sure why they're campaigning to get him booked for nothing.
DAVE SAVES!!!
United sitting back too much now.. have to be creating chances
Number One Son has a shot blocked for a corner after a cross from Trippier was headed away
OH!! Superb reflex kick save by De Gea from Toby off the corner. Ten Jones called for a foul on Harry Kane
WHAT A SAVE again!!
Another free kick won by Spurs... Arlo is still bugging me
Come on United... this has not been good this half!
This is close to Trip's position in the WC semi.... it is Kane though....saved.... CAUGHT
Free kick from Harry Kane saved by De Gea. That's one of his easier saves this match
Lukaku about to come on... for who?
Under 20 to go... Lukaku on for Martial
Score with your first touch like at Newcastle
Pogba fouled on United's first spell of possession in a while.
The Chunk karate chopped on to the pitch
