A Sunday Morning Treat
A very good Sunday morning, chaps. I hope that you've been enjoying your weekend. I'm settling in to watch two matches that look likely to have a key role in the title race this season. First up, Spurs try to prove that their title-ready against the pesky Leicester City at Wemberley. Then it's the big one for the weekend - Citeh v. Chelski. Citeh will be hoping to retake the league lead from Liverpool while Chelski will be trying to stay in the hunt for the Champions League slots. It couldn't be more delicately poised. Join me for a cuppa and a few hours of the good stuff.

Good morning, Bob. Currently watching the Old Farm Derby where the Canaries lead thanks to a second minute goal from Oriel Hernandez a Cuban born German.
Jamaal Lewis , of the Canaries, booked for a foul on Chalaobah as the two were going at it
Chalobah goes down the right and beats Jamaal Lewis for speed to wina corner for the Tractor Boys. Corner taken by Alan Judge and cleared.
Morning, MUR - how are you, mate. I decided to sleep in through the Old Farm Derby, but I'm hoping that the Tractor Boys can pull something out there.
In these type of derbies, form goes out the window. It looks to have been a fairly even , hard fought match
Morning Boys
I will be around and about at first. Dick and Lina leave at 10
Ipswich look to be doing okay since I just logged in
In terms of this one, it's somewhat a contest between two different kinds of managers. Maurizio Potchettino is universally loved by Spurs fans who hope that United won't swoop for him this summer. Claude Puel is universally despised by Leicester fans, even though Leicester are in no danger.
Teams coming out under the arch
Good morning, Bob. I slept in the first half , but have watched the second half given how it affects the top of the table.
The teams coming out at Wemberley now:
Tottenham Hotspur: Lloris, Trippier, Sanchez, Vertonghen, Rose, Winks, Skipp, Sissoko, Eriksen, Son, Llorente.
Subs: Alderweireld, Wanyama, Walker-Peters, Foyth, Gazzaniga, Aurier, Lucas Moura.
Leicester: Schmeichel, Ricardo Pereira, Maguire, Evans, Chilwell, Mendy, Tielemans, Ghezzal, Maddison, Barnes, Gray.
Subs: Simpson, Morgan, Vardy, Ward, Okazaki, Ndidi, Choudhury.
Referee: Michael Oliver (Northumberland)
Bugger..two nil
OH!! Alan Judge just wide with a long range effort for the Tractor Boys
All created by stupid passing around at the back
Morning, UWS! Hope you've been having fun with your guests.
Champions League update
Neymar already out of the United tie
Now Cavani went off hurt yesterday and "unlikely to face Man Utd"
GOAL !!! BOB'S DOG PUTS THE CANARIES TWO UP. POOR PASS FROM PENNINGTON IN MIDFIELD WAS PICKLED UP BY BUENDIA AND HE FOUND PUKKI, WHO SCORED WITH A NICE FINISH PAST BIALKOWSKI
When are you bloody coming???
They're playing our song at Wemberley, as Spurs think they're worthy of it. Kick off time!
Good morning, UWS. Agreed. It was former Leeds loanee, Matt Pennington , who was guilty of the stupid passing.
They're off from Wembley
Just imagine in the next two weeks if United get passed PSG and beat Chelsea in the Cup and Liverpool in the league?
Doesn't look good for us or Ipswich now.
Ipswich could and should have scored a couple since I have been watching
WOW That's fantastic news for United
It was a fairly even match prior to the second goal
Glad you have been having a great time with your guests, UWS
Norwich should have made it three there!
Terrible passing on the break
It's a crucial fortnight for United and would be really brilliant if they won all those matches
Leicester have beaten Chelsea and City recently... and lost to United
That would certainly turn the season on its head, UWS.
Two great chances where the Canaries were nearly one on one, but a poor pass let them down. Chalobah fortunate not to be booked for the Tractor Boys
Canaries free kick headed out for a corner
Three nil....no offside... good call
Tough to be offside from a corner!!
Canaries head in a corner , but it's disallowed as the corner was headed on by Zimmerman , but Bob's dog was offside as he headed. A tighter leash required for Bob.
An attacking move for the Tractor Boys as Teddy Bishop is on for Cole Skuse.
Lloris tips over a header from Maguire from a Foxes free kick
Trybull booked for a bullish foul for the Canaries
OH!!! Great chance for Harvey Barnes as he was through off a nice pass and shot wide for the Foxes.
Wish Maguire would come to Old Trafford
We need him at the back AND at corners
Leicester have had the better chances so far but haven't been able to capitalize on them. They might rue that later on.
Is Paul Lambert serving a suspension. In the stands on a cell phone communicating to his assistant.
Sounds like Ipswich have capitulated.
Stiepermann booked for the Canaries for a cynical foul.
Are Spurs in with a shot at the title?
If they win this match, they would two points behind City and five behind Pool
Play them both
GOAL !!! CANARIES GO THREE UP AS bOB'S DOG SCORES HIS SECOND OF THE MATCH
Bugger...three nil
Ipswich are down
Nice through ball and a toe poked finish under the Body of Bialkowski. Match over.
Norwich are up
Agreed. Canaries up?
Of course... Leeds just need to worry about the top two spots
Great minds think alike. Will be the Tractor Boys first time in the third tier since 1957
Maguire yelling at Son.... ref gives Son a card
I think it was a pen....def not a yellow
Son gets a yellow card for simulation there when it looks very much like a penalty to me.
Tractor Boys face the Rams in midweek. Sounds like another defeat
It's still too tight at the top to count Norwich - or us - in for promotion. All of us have slipped up in recent weeks and Sheffield Utd, Boro and WBA all have a shout at automatic slots. It'll run to the end.
Todd Cantwell on for Stiepermann for the Canaries and Flynn Downs on for Nolan for the Tractor Boys
I agree... Play off spot is pretty safe
Spurs go close thru Rose
First time since 1957. WOW!
Final roll of the dice for Daniel Farke and Jordan Rhodes on for Bob's dog, who gets a well deserved rest.
Last time Leeds won a promotion was from L1 when they were second to the Canaries. Is that a coincidence and a sign of things to come.
Tractor Boys will face East Anglian Derbies next season vs Posh, Southend on Sea, and possible Colchester
Ipswich in the third tier...That was when there was a North and South
Of course, 5 years later.... they were First Division Champions!
That sounds like a humbling schedule for Ipswich.
Flynn Downes booked for the Tractor Boys for a foul and Todd Cantwell for a reaction for the Canaries
AN LOB trio of stoppage time minutes
My update at 8:46 was ignored. I mentioned Ipswich last being in the third tier in 1957
We both saw that. That is what I was commenting about
I hope not, mate - I want us to go up as champions.
Goldy Sports Center eight minutes ahead and starting the day off in fine form
Sorry, Dave. My apologies. Thanks for adding to that. Well done.
You commented about your own comment!
It's over at CR and the Canaries win convincingly 3-0. Ipswich all but down
Got it. Either way , we all must agree that it's curtains for the Tractor Boys this season
Three Spurs in the book already
Now time to focus solely on the match at Wembley where it's still 0-0
FOTMOB named Bob's dog, Pukki, MOTM.
Hopeless by Barnes!!
Chilly puts through Harvey Barnes , who has a shot deflected for a corner.
Celtic two up in the first half in the Scots Cup vs St. Johnny. They face Valencia in the EL on Thursday
One nil...nice header
GOAL! Davison Sanchez settles the nerves by nodding home at close range from the set play.
1-0 Spurs!
How about that the match at Loftus Road yesterday
I did see that Birmingham were 0-4 up at half time and that Rangers had made it 3-4 BUT I just saw that they had a stoppage time penalty saved!
GOAL !!!DAVINSON SANCHEZ HEADS IN A CORNER FROM TRIPPIER TO GIVE SPURS THE LEAD. HIS FIRST GOAL FOR SPURS.
Norwich are now two points up on us at the top on 60 points. Still fifteen matches to play, but I believe that Norwich have the easier run in of the two sides.
That sounds like quite a match. Would have watched the replay if it was on plus. Che Adams with a first half hat-trick for Brum
Chelsea v United in the Cup is a week from tomorrow..... during my week off
I saw that too, mate. The Championship is simply the most entertaining league in the country.
You're correct. Looks like promotion will probably go down to the final match
Nice! Winter Break, UWS?
I won't be around for the CL matches due to work , but should be available for ALL the FA Cup matches. I will be off for the United match since I have President's Day off.
Spring Break is just four weeks away, then eleven more weeks till retirement.
Wow! That's amazing, mate.
A Belgian waffle as Tielemanns wanted a foul called for a challenge by Vertonghen
Chilly wins a corner off of Trippier
Cheers! I'm on the final countdown or fairly close.
I've got three more semesters as chair and then I'll be applying for a sabbatical semester for Spring 2021. I'll stay around for Fall 2020 to help out the incoming chair and then take the spring off.
Yes, Winter Break...Spring Break near Easter
Getting close MUR... getting close
I think I will be in your shoes next year
That' s not too far away, mate. Bet you're looking forward to that. A well deserved Sabbatical.
Then go back in the Fall?
A pair of stoppage time minutes
Cheers, UWS. Glad you are close. You will be on the countdown next year.
Oh - Thielemans nearly caught Lloris out at the near post there.
Quite an effort from the corner flag
Lloris nearly fooled by a miss hit cross from Tielemanns
Half time
Chilly in to the side netting off a short corner and Spurs one up at the half.
Yeah - I would get Spring 2021 and then back to a regular faculty schedule in Fall 2021.
From the Beeb
Maximum!
Tottenham 1-0 Leicester
147 different players have scored for Spurs in the Premier League, only West Ham have had as many (also 147).
Name all 147...go on then...
Surprised these teams are the most
What will you be doing for your sabbatical?
Second half underway from Wembley
we off for in the second half
Still no Vardy
“Jack spent the night under the supervision of the medical staff from the club and he will return home today.
“He will undergo some more tests this week and everything is looking well, but he won’t train for the rest of the week.
Good news
Back on at Wemberley for the second half now.
Thanks for the update on Jack Clarke - I hope that he makes a full recovery soon. We need him!
Why does every match at Wembley have those red shirts showing by the tunnels after half time?
Do all the hoity toity fans act the same?
WOW ! That's quite a challenge . Lots of different scorers. Kane, Son , LLorente, Sanchez, Trippier, Sol Campbell, Klinnsmann, Paul Robinson,Ledley King. Justin Edinburgh, Ginola, Eriksen, Sherwood. How's that for starters?
I'll be working on my Methods textbook and and couple of other articles.
Agreed about Jack Clarke. Pleased about the good news.
zzzzz
A shame it's not during the Fall of 2022, so you would be off for the World Cup. Sounds like a great way to utilize a sabbatical
Gray with a header...right at the keeper!!
Demari Gray got in behind the back four. Headed straight at Lloris.
Nice thinking David... Bob... THINK!
Is that a snoozing noise for my Methods textbook? LOL!
That's a possibility, too.
Quite a bit short of 147!
Why would it be Spurs and West Ham??
Spurs have been in the Prem all the seasons but not West Ham
What about the other big guns?
Maybe more settled sides all the time
Spurs FIRST free kick?
Got it in one Bob
Thanks, Dave. I'm adding Drac, Michael Carrick, Sheringham, Dafoe, and Harry Winks to the list
Probably because Spurs and the Hammers have the goals more spread out among players than having a reliable goal scorer. That's the only reason that comes to mind.
Wonder if Kyle Walker scored for Spurs.
Chilly works his way into to a shooting position but produces a tame one.
Vardy about to come on for the Foxes. Was he benched for being in a spat with Puel. Never found a manager he liked.
Bad boy Jamie Vardy is coming on now.
How about the Wee Beetle , Aaron Lennon for Spurs.
Leicester get a pen!
They have been dangerous!!
I guess it was
Is Vardy on to take it?
PENALTY FOXES AS VERTONGHEN WAS ANYTHING , BUT PRESIDENTIAL WITH THAT CHALLENGE.
Could he come on and take it?
On comes Vardy.... and he's taking it
Vardy on for Damari Gray before the penalty is taken and up to take the penalty
Wow - Vardy is coming on and will take a penalty with his first touch!
Saved by Lloris!!!!
SAVED!!!
WOW!
SAVED BY LLORIS.
Not sure how wise it is for someone to take a spot kick with their first touch of the match. He wasn't into the rhythm of the match
GOAL! Erickson fires Spurs further ahead!!!
GOAL !!!ERIKSEN PUTS THE SPURS TWO UP.
TWO NIL
Eriksen doubles lead
the gaffer doesn't like Vardy...hates him now
Poor Foxes clearance , then Eriksen played a one two with Llorente to score with a great finish
I'm adding Vertonghen , Toby ,and Delle Alli tot he list of Spurs scorers.
Oh - Barnes was through there from a Vardy ball but he put his shot straight at Lloris.
Another poor miss by Harvey Barnes. Put through by Vardy and Barnes shoots against Lloris.
Barnes should have scored... go back to the Championship
Shame the Baggies beat Stoke in the late match
Celtic four up vs St. Johnny in the second half of a Scots Cup match. Snooze.
Bob is glad to see the back of Harvey Barnes. Is that correct?
Yeah - they picked up some territory on us. We'll need to muller Swansea in midweek.
Toby skipped on to the pitch.
Yeah - no need for him in the Championship this season, ta very much.
AN attacking move for the Foxes as that's another extra striker as Ihenacho is no for the Gazelle.
Number One Son number one in number of offside calls today
Vardy... with his second.... sorry his first... what a numpty
GOAL !!VARDY FINALLY SCORES AS IT'S AN EASY TAP IN. PULLS IT BACK TO 2-1
GOAL! Vardy does get his goal after all. Nice finish!
You lot would love another goal back for Leicester now. Are you summoning up the Bishop?
It was a long, patient possession that culminated in a one two between Tielmans and Perreira before Vardy put way the pass from Perriera from a yard out at the far post.
I sent him text message, but have yet to get a response.
A defensive move as Wanyama is on for the Llorente Express.
The ineffectual Llorente comes off after another poor outing. Wanyama comes on to bolt the door for Potch.
Just got a reply from the Bishop, stating that he's not responsible for penalty misses due to poorly taken penalties. Doesn't sound too promising
Ball played out wide to Perreira and his pass is shot over by Vardy
Ihenacho cuts indie and his shot goes into the side netting.
Friends just left
Vardy should equalized with that previous effort
Leicester should be in the lead
Perreira has a pass cut out by Davinson Sanchez for a Foxes corner
Tottenham really hanging on for dear life.
Sounds like a great weekend and a great time had by all.
Toelemans booked for a foul from behind on Sissy on a Spurs break
Danny Rose tries to buy a cheap pen - nothing doing.
Danny Rose goes on a solo run then goes down easily in the box. Never a penalty
Is it me or has Vardy been a bit Spursy today?
Final roll of the dice from Mo Po and like for like as Kyle walker-Peters is on for Danny Rose.
Final roll of the roulette wheel from Claude Puel and Okozaki is on for Harvey Barnes.
Another corner chance for Leicester. Where is Desmond?
Okozaki wins a corner off of Kyle walker-Peters
Chilly got his head to it but it looped into the grateful arms of Lloris.
The corner is headed by Chilly straight to Lloris
Why oh why did anyone allow Vardy to take that penalty cold?
I actually would prefer Spurs to win the league instead of the two!
Liverpool Never
City...no
A Barber Shop Quartet of stoppage time minutes as the Spurs counter.
Son.... THREE ONE
Son streaks away after clearing the corner and scores Spurs' third!
GOAL !!!NUMBER ONE SON SCORES ON THAT COUNTER TO MAKE IT 3-1.
A really simple goal as a pass from Chilly was cleared and Number One Son found himself all alone and ran three quarters the length of the pitch to finish past the stranded Kasper.
Maguire with a header...saved
I WANT HIM AT OLD TRAFFORD
No Bishop. It's check mate for the Foxes.
Oh - Chlly tries another header but Lloris saves again. Good save.
It's over as Spurs defeat the Foxes 3-1.
That's it
Off for walkies
I'm off to do some cleaning up.
