The Sunday Best
Morning, chaps! We've got our first big Sunday morning ahead of us. It all starts in a few moments with Arsenal kicking off their season with new boys Pepe and David Luiz on board at St. James' Park against Newcastle. That's followed by the biggie - United v. Chelski. NBC Sports are hyping it as the introduction of Christian Pulisic to the Premiership but it's a big match regardless. Join me for all the action here on the LOB!

Good morning, Bob. Up to join you for Sunday Best
Morning, MUR - hope you're enjoying your weekend.
Yes I am , thank you for asking. How about you and Kate?
As you stated, Toon vs the Gunners is on NBCSN . Foxes vs Wolves is on CNBC. I'll be watching that one on streaming video.
Sadly none of the new recruits make it into either squad. David Luiz and Pepe are both on the bench whilst Andy Carroll doesn't even make the squad.
Here's the team news:
Newcastle United (3-5-2): Dubravka; Schär, Lascelles, Dummett; Manquillo, Hayden, Shelvey, Longstaff, Ritchie; Almiron, Joelinton
Subs: Darlow, Clark, Fernández, Krafth, Willems, Saint-Maximin, Muto
Arsenal (4-2-3-1): Leno; Maitland-Niles, Sokratis, Chambers, Monreal; Xhaka, Guendouzi; Nelson, Willock, Mkhitaryan; Aubameyang
Subs: Martínez, David Luiz, Torreira, Ceballos, Pépé, Martinelli, Lacazette
Referee: Martin Atkinson
It's been very relaxing, thanks. We're off to an adoption agency picnic this afternoon in Buffalo. Might have to skip out on the big match a wee bit early, sadly.
The Emery Board showing he's not happy with some of the veterans by starting youngsters , Joe Willock and Reiss Nelson. It was a successful loan spell last season by Nelson at Hoffenheim
Teams are in the tunnel but NBC is on an ad break.
WOW ! Wishing you and Kate great success this afternoon. You can record the match.
They're off from SJP
AUbama just offside as the Gunners attack from the off. Sounds like something Trump would say
Morning boys
Got the match from the KP on streaming video.
Arsenal already bugging me.. WHY AREN'T THEY WEARING RED?
Good morning, UWS. Great to have you on board
Both teams wearing their traditional kits at the KP
I'm quite liking this new Arsenal away kit - back to basics and none of this claret nonsense.
Morning, UWS - how are you, mate?
Ayoze Perez, the Foxes new signing from the Toon, making his Foxes debut. The toon could really use his services.
Agreed, but UWS is correct in stating that the Gunners should be wearing their home kit this match
I am doing okay. Of course, I am in depression mode as August has hit double digits!
One more year!
The match at SJP is being played at much quicker pace than the one at the KP
Tom just told me what Jose said about who can win the league?
Sounds like some decent away support from the Arsenal.
He saiid Man City, Liverpool, Spurs and Man City's B team
You're almost there, mate. Next year, you'll be having a laugh this time of the season. I've got 14 years left!
Slow start to this one.
I like that Wolves changed their shirt color to the darker gold
I would say that I feel for you but you're luckily enjoying your job.
Ayoze wins a free kick just outside the Wolves box. The free kick from the 4th President headed away then Choudry with a shot blocked for a corner
Yes, I am UWS. The year will go by quickly and before you know it you will be retired too.
Teachers in my district went back to work on Wednesday, so that's already three days of work missed, LOL!
Wonder what Gooner makes of the signing of Sideshow Bob. He would probably prefer to see our Bob
Almiron down off a challenge from the French Hair Bear. The Toon don't have much depth and any injury would be massive.
The rain is rather spoiling this as an affair.
I am, thanks. Looking forward to the start of the semester.
Ayoize wins a Foxes corner . he's been involved early doors.
Toon win a corner
I'll be at home thinking of both of you at work
Almiron booked for diving . That was really pathetic
The Toon want a pen....awful dive!!
Gets a deserved yellow
Both commentators make a great point
It was a small space...he probably would have been fouled
If he dove, VAR would catch it
Shelvey with a shot deflected for a corner
Off the Sunday Roast!
Corner from Shelvey headed on by Sonny and Schaar then headed away by Socrates
Crazy stuff bout Ozil and Kolasinac
They are under 24 hour guard after being targeted in London gang war
Another corner conceded by Socrates.
Toon doing surprisingly well.
Agreed, UWS. Horrible news.
It is crazy. That stems from an incident in which the two were robbed while in their own car!
I suspect that they've been threatened not to testify in court.
Miki has a chance.....Johnny Wilkinson attempt there...3 points
Miki with a shot well over
Reiss Nelson booked for a striker's challenge while Ndidi blocks a shot from Jonny for a Wolves corner.
Great skill to get the shot off but hits it straight at the keeper
Joel Linton controls a pass then gets a shot off straight to Jay Leno. Will he be the Golden Buzzer?
We are starting off this morning like we did yesterday for the 3 o'clockers.... A GOALLESS FEST
Joel Linton making his debut. He, Almiron, and Shelvey will all need to be in top form if the Toon are to survive.
Newcastle are doing well
Agreed. They're trying to socre, so perhaps we will see some in the second half in typical prem fashion
Free kick from Nelson headed wide by Xakha KHanand Ndidi just wide with a Foxes long range effort.
Aubama with a close range effort turned around for a corner off a nice long ball from the back
Corner overcooked and goes out of play
I am goal starved.
I agree, lads - Newcastle have been the better side. But the Gunners are starting to get into this one.
Play stops at SJP as a Gunner's player is down. Looks like Maitland - Niles
Me too. Loos like goals will be for brunch instead of brekkies.,
Miki also booked for a striker's challenge
I was just reminded of this on Instagram
During the First Ashes Test , there were a group of fans walking around Edgbaston dressed up as England's World Cup winning team. They were wearing the proper numbers and bald caps. There was also one guy on their shoulders in gold... he was the Jules Rimet
Brillant stuff
Goal coming...loo calling
Brilliant from the fans
Cheers. Thanks for the update
Kate is wondering why we aren't watching Leicester, her pick for the title. They're not scoring any goals either, I said.
Great skill from Brucey.
Please tell Kate I'm watching the Foxes on streaming video. Watching the Gunners on the telly.
Blow up, ref - I need to whip out the smelling salts!
Kate should be pleased about the signing of Ayoze. He and Vardy should form a goal scoring partnership
Well done, mate. I'll let her know.
LOL, Bob.
Cheers. Kate should be pleased.
Ivanhoe in the stands at the KP
A pair on non bog LOB blogging stoppage time minutes
I reckon that Emery would be happy to nick a goal and run out the clock in the second half. They're not clicking at all.
A minute of stoppage time at the Kp.
Boli concedes a late Foxes corner
That's half-time and I think the whistle woke Rebecca Lowe up. Off to grab the Sunday paper.
it's 0-0 at the half at SJP as well as at the KP.
LOL. I'm off for brekkies.
Goalless at both grounds this morning - hoping for something a bit better in this second half.
Second half underway from SJP
Second half underway
Teams out of the tunnel at the KP, but streaming video is probably a minute behind
Tell Kate.... Foxes Shmoxes
No changes to either side at the interval, sadly.
Second half underway from the KP
The attendance at St. James’ Park is reportedly around 4,000 down on the average crowd. Some of that is presumably boycott-related.
A day of fours in the Prem matches
Sounds about right . Noticed the empty seats
The Emery Board is bored! BOOM BOOM!
Wolves take the lead!
Foxes clear a cross for a Wolves corner
Corner cleared all the way back to Rui Patricio
The excitement of scoring goals is gone...it's being checked...no goal!
I hate this crap
Dendoncker wins a corner off of Choudry
Dendocker gives Wolves the lead off the corner
Joel Willems on for Shelvey
This half has started the way that the first one ended - boring.
That's the worst aspect of VAR - no one is going to celebrate goals in the future.
Just reloaded my video because it was several minutes behind. Missed how the Wolves goal was disallowed. Dendoncker must have been offside
The Arsenal take the lead
GOAL! Aubameyang runs through unmarked and is found by Willock. Nice finish!
0-1!
GOAL!!!AUBAMA GIVES THE GUNNERS THE LEAD
Where did it come from... passing it around at the back
STUPIDITY!
A really simple goal . Willock picked up a loose pass in midfield and the Toon defense was caught out as he passed to Aubama, who scored past the stranded Dubravka.
An attacking switch from Brendan Rodgers as Harvey Barnes is on for Choudry
Agreed, UWS. The goals that are conceded from that nonsense outweigh the possession that teams gain from playing out of the back.
Toon punished for their first mistake of the match
I concur as well.
One nil to the Arsenal. Non complaints from Gooner nor Simon
Arsenal move up into sixth on the strength of that goal.
I just don't understand how bosses allow it or prefer it!
They do it because it is "the right way" to play
Keep possession, do on the all intricate passing, don't kadumph it
Pass it to the keeper... he's good with his feet(Can't save anyhing but..)
Lose the ball at the top of the box... a goal down
BLOODY BARCELONA AND PEP
Spain u-21 international, Ceballos, on for a Gunner's debut
Good points, UWS.
Ayoze with a cross off of Boli for a Foxes corner. Headed out for another
Saint-Maximin on for Sean Longstaffe for a Toon debut
First look at Arsenal's new Real Madrid loanee Dani Ceballos who's on for Maitland-Niles.
And Newcastle bring on a debutante as well, Allan Saint-Maximin, who seems destined to become an MUR pun. What have you got, mate?
Saint-Maximin with a run and a cross cleared for a Toon corner. Almiron with a shot blocked for another corner
Still working on some material. Here's one. He's Simon Templar because he's the Saint.
I am very curious what United's line up is going to be today
Should be announced any moment
Jesus would love to have the Saint as a teammate. Sound about right?
MUR should be banned
Pepe on for Reiss Nelson for a Gunner's debut.
Pulisic is on the bench... good
LOL, UWS! Music to your ears . Name that Toon and Xakha Khan singing. Sonny and Schaar as well.
That is good news. He can be dangerous to other teams
Here are the line ups
Good Guys
De Gea, Wan-Bissaka, Maguire, Lindeloff, Shaw, McTom, Pogba, Pereira, Lindy, Martial, Rashford
Bad Guys
Kepa, Azpa, Christensen, Zouma, Emerson, Jorgihho, Kovacic, Pedro, Barkley, Mount, Abraham
Wolves talisman , Diogo Jota replaced by Cutrone, who makes his Wolves debut. Mark Albrighton on for Ayoze for the Foxes, presumably for more width
Just back from the bog - no goals.
Benches
Mata, Young, James, Romero, Greenwood, Matic, Tuanzebe
Alonso, Kante, Caballero, Kennedy, Giroud, Pulisic, Tomori
Just as I suspected - after days of hype about Pulisic's debut, he's not starting.
Nice biblical reference . That's the expected United lineup and Abraham the only surprise for Chelsea. Thought Pulisic would start instead of him, but who are we to complain?
Surprised to see Kante on the bench. He's done well for Chelsea and usually has a good attitude.
The NBC suits must be having kittens - Pulisic may not even get off the bench!
Surprised to see Mason Mount start ahead of Kante. Had a decent season with the Rams, but not sure if he's ready to start with a top five Prem team
Saiss on for Neves for Wolves
Nice pass from Miki, but poor control from Aubama as he failed to get a shot off. Gunners should have gone two up.
Former Gunners player, EDU, their first ever technical director.
This Saint-Maximin looks a bit lively. Scuffs his shot, though, into Jay Leno's arms.
he Saint turns and the Toon singing about a save from Jay Leno, who was not Berndt.
Gabriel Martinelli comes on for Miki - Emery's last change.
Kane isn't fully fit
Final roll of the dice from the Emery Board as Martinalli on for Miki for a Gunner's debut
Sonny must be snickering about that long range effort from Scharr, singing well out of Toon.
So they've spent all of this money on Sideshow Bob and Pepe and then he doesn't use them? What's he saving them for?
Harvey Barnes goes on a run down the left and wins a Foxes corner
Sideshow Bob the only entertainer not on the pitch today. pepe came on as a sub and may be regaining fitness.
Saint-Maximin goes on another tear and seems to be brought down. The play is allowed to continue and Joelinton blasts over the top.
Kante not Kane
A Barber Shop Quartet if stoppage time minutes at the KP. The same at SJP
Oh - I must have missed that when I was in the bog.
Boli clears for a late Foxes corner
Hate the tiny contact and the foul called
Corner from the Fourth President cleared
Oh - Aubameyang was nearly in there again.
Wolves robbed of a win... Ends nil nil
It finishes 0-0 at the KP. Wolves had a goal disallowed
Those two sides will be round about 7th or 8th, IMHO.
it finishes one nil to the Arsenal managed by the Emery Board, not George Graham
That's it - Arsenal start their campaign with a win. They weren't impressive but three point is three points.
Arsenal get the win...bugger
I am off for walkies before the big one
Nest, the match of the weekend. United vs Chelsea.
I am back from a short walk... thanks Shadow
Average age of United's starting line up today
23.7
Can you win anything with kids?
Back from a short walkies as Sparky was a bit antsy. Ready for the big on. Hope it doesn't flatter to deceive.
That's an aging United lineup compared to Bolton's yesterday. Will they win with kids?
Back with my lunch for the big one. Teams coming out at OT.
Teams coming out of the tunnel at OT.
Teams coming out
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
Eating lunch because you're starved? Goal starved that is!
That's nice - split screen of the match and adverts. I like that!
Chelsea with a flight to Istanbul at the end of this match to face Liverpool on Wednesday. A match both teams could have done without at the start of the season
Something new from NBC.
The REAL season has begun!!
Here we go then - United to get us underway.
They're off from OT!
I'm a happy chappy... United wearing white shorts at home
COME ON MAN UNITED!
Come on United...You haven't scored yet!
Come on, you Red Devils!
Me too. Glad to see both teams wearing their traditional colors.
Jose's opening Prem game... a one nil win vs United... he was the Special One
Hopefully we aren't see the Special Two
Big ovation for Wan Bissaka for his first touch.
Not a lot of firepower for Chelsea today.
Do better there Rashford
Long may that continue Bob
Not Shaw about that call. Seemed a fair tackle on Pedro
Mason Mount wins a corner off of Harry Maguire.
Oh - Abraham rifles one off the post!
geez...Tammy A rifles the post
OH!!!! Off the Sunday roast from Tammy Abraham
