FA Cup 4th Round Time
Morning, chaps! It's FA Cup 4th Round time! Sadly there is no Leeds in this round, as we bowed out gracefully to Arsenal in the 3rd Round. Still - there is plenty of fun on hand today, with Brentford hosting Leicester to start things off in a moment. That's followed at 10am by a range of fixtures, including Burnley v. Norwich and West Ham v. West Brom. Finally, at the end of the day, we've got Hull v. Chelsea. The magic of the Cup, eh?
Join me for all the fun today.

Two fine teams have been drawn together for this FA Cup fourth-round tie. Brentford are one of the country’s in-form sides, having won six of their last nine, drawing two of the other three. They’re fifth in the Championship. Leicester, meanwhile, are flying high in the Premier League, and their manager, formerly of Parkhead, is 31 matches unbeaten in domestic cups.
Team news out of Griffin Park as the teams gather in the tunnel:
Brentford: Daniels, Thompson, Yearwood, Mokotjo, Valencia, Marcondes, Dervisoglu, Jeanvier, Zamburek, Racic, Roerslev.
Leicester City: Ward, Justin, Morgan, Soyuncu, Fuchs, Choudhury, Praet, Gray, Albrighton, Perez, Iheanacho.
Interestingly neither of these sides has ever won the Cup. And I'm happy that the Cup is keeping Brentford busy this weekend.
Brentford wear their red and white stripes, while Leicester sport their first-choice blue. Plenty of noise at Griffin Park, a proper FA Cup atmosphere. We’ll be off in a minute!
Oh - Ayoze Perez was almost in within seconds of kickoff!
Good Morning, Bob. I just woke up and am here to join you. The Foxes nearly scored ten seconds into the match.
Looks like a decent Foxes lineup. Well done, Brodge.
GOAL! Iehnacho nips in at the backpost to put Leicester 0-1 up!
GOAL! IHENACHOP GIVES THE FOXES AN EARLY LEAD. TAPS IN A CROSS FROM RESERVE RIGHT BACK, JAMES JUSTIN
Morning, MUR! Great to have you on board for this Cup morning.
The Bees are being stung to the point of being outfoxed
Cheers, Bob. Glad to enjoy the pleasure of your company.
Ayoze tripped just outside the Bees box.
Free kick fired in by Demari Gray - bit of a waste.
The free kick from Damari Gray goes into the side netting
Some Fourth Round Results from yesterday:
Northants 0 Rams 0 in an East Midlands Derby
QPR 1 Not a Big Club 2
We're really seeing the gulf in quality between the two top leagues here today. Brentford are the in-form side in the Championship right now but a second string Leicester are completely dominating them.
Oh - first glimpse of Brentford on the attack there. Marcondes with a chance to shoot on goal. Could only slice it into the side netting.
A chance for the Bees and Marcondes shoots into the side netting when he should have had at least hit the target. First good attack from the Bees.
I have a quiz question for you whenever you are ready
A free kick from Damari Gray is deflected over for a corner
The Fixes with a complete and utter waste of a short corner
First shot on goal for the Bees. Ward right behind it. They're just getting going now.
Dervisoglu gets a pass cuts in, and curls a shot just wide. The Bees are starting to show their quality
Hit with me that trivia question, mate!
The Bees remind a lot of the Canaries side that went up. Entertaining, but leaky at the back
You stated that United are linked with a player from Tranny. What well known United player was signed from Tranny in the 1970s as a teenager?
I'm going to guess Stevie Coppell. Am I right?
The game has got a bit scrappy in the middle now.
Brantford have their first corner now.
Well done, mate. You're in great form. Hope this player does as well for us as Steve did.
Hope we undress Tranny tomorrow after the Burnley "Burn" on Wednesday. First win at OT since September 1962.
Long range effort from Albrighton is wide. The Foxes could have gone two up.
Interesting tidbit. I once saw Coppell in the airport in Bangkok, Thailand. I think he was doing some coaching over there at that point. I didn't have the bottle to approach him for an autograph, sadly.
Oh - Thompson strides forward to hit a dribbler that nearly embarrassed Ward in the Leicester goal.
WOW!. I'm jealous. That's the one player I have wanted to meet. Heard he is a very polite person and is short and thin. Is that correct?
An intersting tidbit abut Foxes reserve keeper, Danny Ward. He's a regular in the Welsh squad despite his lack of playing time. Started out with Liverpool and was on loan to the Terriers when they were promoted to the Premiership, playing a key part in their promotion. Has been with the Foxes backing up Kapser
Yeah - when I have met footballers in person, I've often been impressed by how small they are. When I look at the picture of me with Freddie Ljungberg on the beach in Japan, I absolutely dwarf him!
Bees keeper, Luke Daniels forced to kale a close range save from Ayoze off a pass from Ihenacho then a poor clearance results in a close range Foxes header going inches over
A Minute of stoppage time
The Foxes are one up at the half thanks to that early goal from Ihernacho
That's half-time, then. I'm off to toast up a bagel.
I'm getting brekkies too.
The second half is underway from Griffin Park.
Former Spurs trainee, Josh Da Silva , on for Mokotjo. According to the announcer that's an attacking move for the Bees.
I'm back with a spicy jalapeño-cheddar bagel and a cuppa.
There haven't been any real chances so far in the second half.
WOW! That's spicy, mate! Your bagel is probably more spicy than this Cup tie has been this half
Choudry fouls Marcondes about thirty yards from goal. No need for the Bees player to wave the imaginary yellow card. That's poor sportsmanship
It has been a damp squib so far in the second half.
Ayoze fouls Marcondes with a striker's challenge. That's also about thirty yards from goal
Danny Ward foul after some head tennis off the free kick
About a half hour remaining. This Cup tie is in the balance
Oh - off the post from Marcondes' cross. That could easily have crept in.
OH! Nearly an equalizer . Marcondes diverted a cross off the post an the Foxes hoofed it away
I'll give the Bees credit. They're a fun side to watch and play some good stuff.
Morning Boys
I have been around. Sorry it's taking me so long to join
Have a link going on my computer...thanks Bob
I read the first few comments... I would have gotten the early trivia question
Steve Coppell was one of my favorites! A great crosser of the ball....wouldn't get a game these days then
Morning, UWS - glad that you're enjoying the coverage on the Plus. My pleasure.
I just worry WHEN Leeds get promoted then it will stop
Foxes about to bring on one of their academy players for a first team debut. He will be the first academy player to maker his first team debut since the Bridge took over.
Good Morning, Dave. I thought about you when I asked that trivia question and figured you have answered it within a second
Foxes academy player, Kieran Dewsbury-Hall, on for Ihenacho for a first team debut.
There is a guy at work that pays $10 a month for something like Jarvis TV
You buy per stream so you could have have your phone and computer going at the same time
It has every country, every country!
He pulled up an FA Cup replay on BBC1, then cricket on Sky Sport, Dave, Gold...I couldn't believe it!
I don't think so - there's a lot more content than just the Championship on the Plus now - FA Cup, League Cup, European Championship.
Dewsbury Hall sounds like one of the building's on the Fred Town University campus
Foxes academy player, Kieran Dewsbury-Hall, on for Ihenacho for a first team debut.
Well done Bob for getting it
Of course, he's saying it wrong..... as well as Coventry
Plus has quite a bit of coverage. Usually the Euros and world Cup are televised if I'm not mistaken
Jarvis TV sounds interesting. Not really familiar with it
I never heard of it
Yeah - it's well worth the $4.99/month.
Definite thanks to Bob and Dave for Plus and Gold respectively
Brentford player down with cramp. In the 75th minute! How can a player be that unfit?
Congratulations, Dave . I guess you're time remaining till retirement is down to double digits.
Thompson down with cramp after Janvier conceded a c corner in the month of January
The Bees will not be looking forward to the arrival of the Fourth President
The Fourth President coming on now to replace Gray. I'm surprised that Brog is risking him.
Henrico Henry is on for the injured Thompson.
Mr President is coming on for DG
I thought he wouldn't be playing....should be looking for houses in Manchester
The Fourth President on for Damari Gray, who was guilty of a gray performance
Maddison would be an excellent addition at Old Trafford.
Ok... I woke up..... I must have been dreaming
If the Fourth President signs for United then I hope he does better for us than the last Foxes player we signed
Sadly, we need about 7 or 8 additions!!
And we're not bringing in anyone!!
I don't think Maguire has been the problem... he's been fine
I've just been telling Kate about the East End delicacy - jellied eel. She's not so keen.
If the Foxes hold on to win then this will be the last ever Cup tie at Griffin Park
I've been frustrated by this transfer window, too. The fans are crying out for another striker or two, another attacking midfielder or two, a defensive middle, a center back. All we've got is an Italian goalkeeper who will likely be #3 behind Kiko and Meslier.
I guess Maguire has been a good signing, but fell he should be a little more consistent as we was with the Foxes
Great save by keeper from a lovely volley
Oh - great save from Ward to deny Racic on the volley.
Ball in the net
Flag in the air
No VAR today
Good decision tho
It's been frustrating transfer window. NBCSN will televise the last day of the transfer window on Friday
The ball is in the net for the Bees but it's flagged off for offside.
Thanks for that program note, mate - I may tune in from work.
OH! Danny Ward does well to tip over a volley from Racic off a Bees corner from Marcondes
Two Bees subs combine for a goal that is disallowed for offside. Mbuembo scored with his first touch since coming on off a nice pass from Henry, but was offside
You're welcome. That would be great for a bit of LOB banter
The Bridge will not want a replay as the Foxes have the second leg of the leg cup semi in midweek
The Bridge will be really disappointed that the Foxes have not had a single shot on target in the second half against the Championship side
A name like Dewsbury-Hall sounds like a place where Bob works
An LOB blogging trio of stoppage time minutes remaining in what could be the last ever Cup tie played at Griffin Park
This match is rather petering out in the end.
So fed up with teams(especially mine) during a transfer window!
They wait until the final hours and minutes! WHY?
United could have bought some one January 2nd!! Look how many games they could have played already!
If they bring anyone in...there is only one game in the next two weeks because of the staggered winter break
The Foxes are thru to the 5th round....no replays from now on
That's it - the early goal from Ienacho is enough to see Leicester City safely through to the 5th Round.
Plus a minute behind according to the live commentary. Poor form.
Griffin Park isn't exactly famous!! Old...yes!
I am off for walkies
I'll be back
I agree, mate - I would have been really reassured if we'd picked up a top striker on January 2nd. If Patrick Bamford picks up an ACL, what would we do?
Back after some dishes.
Foxes hold on to win 0-1 in the last ever tie at Griffin Park. Off for walks
Back for the 10 o'clocker between Soton and Spurs. Here's the team news:
Southampton: Gunn, Danso, Stephens, Bednarek, Bertrand, Armstrong, Ward-Prowse, Hojbjerg, Redmond, Obafemi, Ings.
Subs: Yoshida, Adams, Djenepo, Romeu, Boufal, Smallbone, Lewis.
Tottenham Hotspur: Lloris, Aurier, Alderweireld, Sanchez, Tanganga, Winks, Fernandes, Lo Celso, Alli, Son, Lucas Moura.
Subs: Vertonghen, Lamela, Dier, Sessegnon, Foyth, Gazzaniga, Ndombele.
Referee: Peter Bankes (Merseyside)
The commentator says that this is an important competition for Spurs. You could have fooled me from the starting line-up.
I'm back from walkies and now need to look for a match to watch
The two top Cup ties are Saints vs Spuds and the West Derby on a return to the London Stadium for Slaven the Slav
I picked the same match as you.
I looked at the lineups you posted and it looks a decent Spurs lineup given that Jose has been rotating the squad
In an all Championship Cup tie Cardiff has taken the lead at the Mad Sad
Lo Cleso down low off a foul from Bednarek
Delle Alli puts Number One Son down the left and nobody is there to connect on a great cross
The Reading Railroad ties it up vs Cardiff
In L1 , Posh takes the lead vs L1 leaders, Rotherham
In the sPL , struggling St. Johnny takes the lead vs Killie
In the West Derby the Baggies takes the lead on a happy return to the London Stadium for Slaven
The Baggies have taken the lead at West Ham through Conor Townsend. His first goal for the club.
Tanganga blocks a Saints shot for a Saints corner
It's a happy return to the London Stadium for Slaven in the West derby.
I'm surprised you're not watching the Evil Lions vs the Evil Blades. It's a Super Villains Derby
Accrington Stanley goes on top at Richard Burton as does Salford vs Oldham in the Scholes Derby
An unusual mention for the 6th tier of english Footie. In the National League North, table topping Kings Lynn are two up at Blyth Spartans.
Killie ties it up at St. Johnny
Goals have been at a premium in this round. It's a great time for the commentator's curse
Posh two up vs L1 leaders, Rotherham
I am back from a long walk with Shadow
I listened to commentary of the match at St Marys and hearing updates
They did say that it doesn't happen often that Southampton and Portsmouth both play at home at the same time.
Wednesday played on Friday at Loftus Road because United play at the Den today
Do you want the Baggies to keep their cup run going Bob?
Only one match in the Championship today, thankfully . Goalless between Stoke and Swansea so far. Neither are much of a threat for us.
Absolutely, UWS - the more matches for them, the better. They're on as dodgy a run as we are right now.
Spurs have it in the net but it's ruled offside. Son interfering with play there.
Spurs get the ball in the net.... flag up
VAR checking
It hit Son on the way in and he was off
No goal
GOAL !!! LO CELSO GIVES THE SPUDS THE LEAD WITH A LOW SHOT. VAR CHECKING FOR OFFSIDE. NUMBER ONE SON OFFSIDE AS HE WAS INTEREFERING WITH KEEPER. Its disallowed still 0-0
Welcome back, Dave. Hopefully your presence will inspire some goal scoring. Very few goals so far today
A Baggiues Cup run may be good news for Leeds despite the Cottagers and Forest not being too far behind
In the big match in L1, Posh still two up vs table topping Rotherham. Tractor Boys being held 0-0 by Abe Lincoln at PR
The game has entered a lull and the commentators are talking about managers' beards.
Lucas Moura was through on goal , but a great kick save by Angus Gunn keeps it 0-0
Oh - Great save from Angus Gunn from Moura after a great move from Spurs.
Millwall and Sheffield United are playing in the FA Cup for third time today
They last met in 1914 and again back in the 1800s...don't remember those too much
LOL! We would be hearing about that win the West Derby for sure
Off the line by Spurs!
Great info, UWS. I'm surprised Bob isn't watching his two favorite teams in action
Lloris is so overrated !!
Oh - Ings is in there but his effort is cleared off the line brilliantly by Tanganga.
OH! Danny Ings has a shot headed off the line by young Tanganga
Poor form... Bob should be watching the Den battle
POMPEY TAKE THE LEAD
In the 10 AMmatches, there hasn't been an FA Cup goal since the ninth minute
Congrats, Dave. Pompey on the verge of a great cup run
Still just the three goals in the FA Cup fourth round three o’clockers, where it’s 11 between Reading and Cardiff City, while West Brom lead West Ham 1-0 at the London Stadium.
Celtic takes the lead vs Ross County
We play Millwall on Tuesday. I'm not sure that I can take that much of the Evil Lions in one week.
L1 Leaders Rotherham pull it back to 2-1 at Posh. The Tractor Boys don't want a comeback
LOL! Would love to see Leeds give the Lions a good hiding
Stephens down for the Saints
Sadly for Saints fans, Curtis Armstrong is hobbling off the pitch. Moussa Dnepjo on in his place.
It was Stu Armstrong off injured and replaced by Djenep[o in a like for like switch

Fratton Park looks in great nick
Already off for the second half at FP but teams just coming out at SM
Moyes has made THREE changes at half time!
The second half is underway fromSt. Mary's
He must be pissed with his side!
Hope they don't get an injury
They play Liverpool midweek to make up the match missed for Liverpool's World Club championship exploits
Yikes! The Hammers are trouble if any of Moyes Boys get injured
I expect them to get hammered on wednesday
Still listening to Talksport and they have commentary from SM....it is always delayed a bit...very annoying
Credit to the Bees for a capacity crowd. That's more like it
