We start with Citeh vs the promo chasing Cottagers. Citeh start teenagers, Phil Foden and Eric Garcia. Meanwhile the Cottagers are without two of their key attackers. Top scorer, Mitrovic, and key attacker , Knoackaert are out injured. Scotty Parker gives a debut to new signing from the Terriers, Terrance Kongolo.

8:02 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

They're off from the Eithad with Citeh in their traditional sky blue and the Cottagers in all red

8:03 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Since the Cottagers are without two of their key players Citeh may thrash the Cottagers to the point where this may get ugly

8:03 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

The lineups :

Citeh : Bravo,Cancelo, Garcia, Otamendi, Angelino, Foden, Gundogan, David Silva, Mahrez ,Jesus, Bernie Silva

subs: Aguero, KDB, sterling, Stones, Ederson., Zinchenko, Rodri

8:06 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

That's still a decent Citeh lineup with their starters on the bench. Combine that with the Cottagers injuries and this will be a long afternoon for the Cottagers

8:07 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

PENALTY CITEH . TIM REAM BRINGS OFF JESUS AND THE AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL BRINGS DOWN JESUS WITH A RUGBY TACKLE . IT GOES FROM BAD TO WORSE AS REAM IS SENT OFF FOR DENIAL OF A GOAL SCORING OPPORTUNITY.

8:09 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

GOAL ! GUNDOGAN SCORES FROM THE SPOT PLACING IT IN THE CORNER, BUT COTTAGERS KEEPER, MAREK RODAK , NEARLY SAVED IT.

8:10 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I'm not sure what Tim Ream was thinking, but the Cottagers will be playing with ten men for most of the match. It was tough enough as is with eleven, let alone ten

8:11 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

The Cottagers lineup:
Rodak, Kongolo, Ream ( sent off) , Hector, Joe Bryan, Cyrus Christie, Onomah, Johansen, Steve Sess, Cavaliero, Bobby Reid

subs :Odoi, Tom Cairney, Bettinelli, Kevin McDonald, Luca De La Torre, Sylvester Jasper, Jay Stansfield

8:14 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

OH!! Great diving save by Rodak from Mahrez despite eight red shirts in the box

8:15 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

OH!! CXiteh toying around with the Cottagers and the final ball is off , otherwise it would have been an easy tap in

8:17 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

OH!!! Just wide by Phil Foden. Michael Hector gifted Citeh possession at the halfway line and Foden was put through, but blasted wide with just Rodak to beat

8:19 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

The Cottagers doing what UWS constantly mentions. Down to ten men at the Etihad , but insistent upon faffing about at the back. They will be eventually punished

8:21 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

GOAL !!!! WEEKEND AT BERNIE'S IS A NIGHTMARE FOR THE COTTAGERS AS CITEH GO TWO UP. wEEKEND AT BERNIE'S DANCING AROUND WITH THE BALL THEN PLACED IT IN THE CORNER FROM THE EDGE OF THE BOX

8:22 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Cyrus Christie passes to Bobby Reid ,w ho shoots straight at Bravo from a difficult angle.

8:25 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

David Silva passes left to Angelino , who passes to Phil Foden and he shoots over from about ten yards out

8:28 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Angelino crosses to Jesus , who heads on then Michael Hector heads out for a Citeh corner

8:29 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Mahrez tripped . Citeh with a free kick from about 25 yards out

8:32 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Into the wall by Gundogan and Kevin Friend stops play because Michael Hector got hit in the chops by the ball, but is okay to continue

8:34 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Cancelo with a shot deflected off of Steve Sess for a corner

8:36 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I agree with Garry Birtles that the Cottagers will eventually tire and ship in goals. All they have been doing is chasing around Citeh players

8:38 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Another Citeh free kick and Mahrez takes from about 30 yards out and it's well over.

8:38 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Joe Bryan with a cynical trip on Mahrez. Should have been booked , but just a lecture. the ref must be his Friend.

8:40 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

The Cottagers win a rare free kick as Josh Onomah is fouled. A long free kick from Stefan Joahnsen is easily cleared.

8:46 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

A minute of stoppage time.

8:47 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Angelino has a shot deflected over by Michael Hector off a pass from David Silva

8:48 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

A poor short corner is cleared and Citeh two up against the Cottagers , who have been down to ten men since the sixth minute. I guess credit to the Cottagers for not losing by a cricket score.

Just about to go for walkies
United's line up just announced

Just not good enough

Romero, Dalot, Lindeloff, Maguire, Jones, Shaw, Matic, Pereira, Lingard, Martial, Greenwood

Bench
Grant, Baiily, Williams, Fred, Mata, James, Chong

9:03 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

The second half is underway

9:05 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Mahrez is wide open from fifteen yards out off a pass from Angelino from David Silva, but blasts well over

9:07 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Morning, MUR! Thanks for getting us going this morning. I really enjoyed my lie-in after a late night with friends. Just settling in with a cuppa to see Mahrez miss a sitter.

9:08 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

I wouldn't mind seeng the Cottagers right and truly hammered here by a second string CIteh side just to dent their confidence a bit. They've been on a bit of a tear in the Championship recently.

9:09 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Cancelo with a shot wide from just outside the box. Pep looking none too pleased

9:10 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

it must have been deflected as Citeh took a short corner

9:11 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Pep makes his first change as Sterling is on for Mahrez , who may have picked up a knock

9:13 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Riyadh Mahrez gets the hook in order for Raheem Sterling to join the fray. Bit unfair, isn't it?

9:13 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Th Cottagers caught faffing about and David Silva puts through Sterling and his shot skims off the top of the bar

9:20 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Oh - Jesus is played in after an elaborate move but the Cottagers' defender gets back for a desperate last ditch tackle.

9:21 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Jesus was put through with just Rodak to beat and a last ditch tackle by Kongolo prevents a goal. The Cottagers were faffing about again

9:21 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

All Citeh here - Fulham haven't had a sniff in this second half.

9:21 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Good morning, Bob. Glad you had a great night

9:22 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I think Mahrez was replaced because he picked up a knock

9:22 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

The Cottagers have been down to ten men since the sixth minute when Tim ream was sent off and really Citeh should be winning by more

9:23 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

It's a decent Cottagers lineup other than the injuries to Mitrovic and Knockaert, which limits their attacking options

9:24 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

The color commentator thinks that Fulham have done well to frustrate Citeh. They're 2-0 down! And probably should be 5-0 down, based on what I've seen so far.

9:25 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Cancelo appeared to be tripped by Joe Bryan in the box, but Kevin Friend points for a corner

9:26 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Citeh have not been their normally clinical selves and have been guilty of really poor finishing

9:26 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

That last possession is this Citeh performance in a nutshell.

9:27 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Tom Cairney on for Cavaliero

9:27 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

With the Cottagers out of the Cup , they will be able to focus solely on promotion, even though this tie has been done and dusted for over an hour

9:28 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

In the words of UWS, the Cottagers have been guilty of faffing about at the back throughout the match

9:30 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

This announcer needs to shut it. He has been incessantly mentioning about the Cottagers passing Leeds and the Baggies in the table.

9:32 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

GOAL !!!! JESUS HEADS IN A CROSS FROM CANCELO TO PUT CITEH THREE UP

9:33 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

GOAL! Jesus wraps up the tie with an easy, uncontested header at the backpost.

3-0!

9:33 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

If the tie wasn't done and dusted , it now is as it's virtually impossible for the ten men to come from three down. VAR checking for offside

9:33 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

The goal is disallowed as Jesus was offside by an arm . Still 2-0

9:34 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

like for like as John Stones is on for Otamendi

9:34 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

The final roll of the dice from Pep as Rodri is on for Gundogan

9:35 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

And make that 4-0! Foden rifles one at the keeper who can only parry it to Jesus who nods home easily.

9:35 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

GOAL !!!! THEN JESUS SCORES AND THIS ONE SHOULD COUNT AS HE PUTS AWAY THE REBOUND AFTER RODAN SAVED A SHOT FROM PHIL FODEN

9:35 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I guess it's 4-0. Jesus with a brace in the past few minutes.

9:37 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I'm thinking of taking Sparky for walkies as this one is done and dusted. If I miss any goals I can always watch the replay

9:37 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I'll be back for the next match.

9:41 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Cheerio, mate - this one is kind of over.

9:47 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I am here
All walked out
All showered up
All coffeed up

Here comes United's DEFENSIVE line up!
FIVE defenders!

9:57 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Perfect timing as I put the match on my Apple TV

Hope it's not delayed too much
I have put my phone away incase updates come before I see it

They say United have three in the back

Two fullbacks playing wide in the midfield... I hate modern day football

9:59 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Back for Tranny vs United with Sparky walked and the pets being given brekkies

9:59 AM

Welcome back MUR

I really don't like the 5th Round being midweek!

10:00 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Thanks, Dave .YIKES! I didn't realize that about the Fifth Round. Don't like it. When is the draw for the Fifth Round?

10:01 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Teams don't adjust to their opponents
They have a bloody philosophy!

10:01 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

United should NOT try and play out from the back
United should play it long

ADJUST to the conditions

10:02 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Tranny are the relegation zone of League 1!!

10:02 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Off to Prenton Park, which is muddy looking like something from the 70s.

10:03 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Apparently, you didn't look at the link I texted you!

United can't get the ball out of the box!
Tranny wth the first shot...should have done better

10:03 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Draw is tomorrow before Bournemouth/Arsenal

Jones with a stupid foul.... how does he play for United!!!

10:04 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

No. I have not had a chance yet. Don't like the schedule this morning. No breaks between matches. Hardly enough time to take the pets for walkies. I will have to look once the last match ends

10:05 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Free kick chance for Tranmere....straight at Romero

He bowls it out....STOP PLAYING AROUND IN THE BACK

10:05 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

It just says the time of draw and the team numbers and dates of the rest of the rounds

10:06 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I wish there was the 45 minute gap between matches as there is when the Prem matches are being played. That gives more time to do everything between matches

10:06 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I will check that link later today. Thanks for sharing

10:07 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

United STILL trying to pass the ball around too much in the attacking third

Jones is fouled but it was close to being rash challenge by him

He is a numpty!

Fingers crossed he's hurt!
Damn he can continue!

10:07 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I missed Phil Jones being booked. agreed with you about Jones. Time for him to go

10:07 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I had no thought of City struggling today or Liverpool later

Very worried about this one...it is so sad

10:08 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Atrocious header from a goal kick by Jones

I miss the goal kicks

10:08 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Agreed. I was worried that he had conceded a penalty. PHEW!

10:08 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Tranmere have been the better of the two sides

10:08 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Dalot beaten and Maguire clears for a corner.

10:08 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

They sure have.United look like they aren't even interested

10:09 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

OF COURSE....who won the Cup the last time Liverpool were Champs?

10:09 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

I'm back for the other side of Manchester now. The pitch at Tranny takes me right back to 1975. What a shocking surface!

10:10 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

WOW!!

LOOK WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU SHOOT!

MAGUIRE WITH A TOP CORNER BULLET

10:10 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

GOAL! Oh - what a strike from Slaphead and what a time for Maguire to open his account! Wow!

0-1!

10:10 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

10:10 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

GOAL !!!! HARRY MAGUIRE GIVES UNITED THE LEAD WITH HIS FIRST UNITED GOAL . WHAT A FINISH

10:11 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Wasn't that goal United's first attack of the match?

10:11 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Still not confident of holding on

Our strikers don't shoot

10:12 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Tranny will United a different proposition than eighth tier Chichester City , who they played in the Second Round

10:12 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Tranny punished for not taking their chances

10:13 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Two nil

Dalot scores his first United goal as well!!

10:13 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

0-2! If only you lot could play Tranmere every weekend!

10:13 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Nice finish

10:13 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

GOAL !!! DALOT SCORES HIS FIRST FOR UNITED WITH A CRACKING FINISH . NICE KARATE CHOPPED PASS TO DALOT AND HE SCORED WITH A WELL PLACED FINISH

10:14 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Wonder if Ole could sort that out

10:14 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

That is a good point, this team were 3 down at half time at Vicarage Road

10:14 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Agreed, Bob. Hard to see them coming from two down as they lack the finesse of a Prem side

10:14 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Answer my 10:09 question

10:15 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Lingard needs to sore a gaol

10:15 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

United passing it around too much again...two shots...two goals...here's an idea.... SHOOT

10:16 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Oh my goodness - it's 0-3! United are romping it. Lingard with a lovely curler.

10:16 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

THERE YOU GO!!

THREE SHOTS
THREE GOALS!!

Lingard with a goal....hold the presses

10:16 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

This will give United a false sense of security....this is Tranmere

10:17 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

GOAL !!! UNITED THREE UP AS LINDY SCORES HIS FIRST FOR UNITED IN OVER A YEAR WITH A WELL PLACED SHOT .NICE RUN AND PASS FROM MAGUIRE

10:17 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Credit to United for three well worked goals on such a horrible pitch

10:17 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Ok, I think I am confident of going thru now....well...maybe one more

10:17 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Sure, I believe that was Tranmere Rover. Am I right, UWS?

10:19 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Geez....United suck...Martial shoots and doesn't score. Brought the average down a bit

10:19 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Oh - Kung Fu Panda in for a fourth there. Blasted over.

10:20 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

United are lucky in a manner of speaking. The Hornets were forced to play a reserve side at Prenton Park on Thursday because they played a Prem match at Villa Park only 48 hours earlier

10:20 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Damn....another shot missed

10:21 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I wonder if Bob and Dave would agree that Tranny have been truly undressed with those three quality goals.

10:22 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I agree... I originally thought Watford wouldn't have had a game
Of course... don't lose a three goal lead at home in the second half

10:22 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Don't want to even think of any Tranny undressing

10:22 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Commentator says it's good to see Matic back in the team

Tom disagrees strongly...he's like a traffic cone

10:23 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

LOL, Dave. I don't blame you

10:24 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I agree with Tom, not the commentator

10:24 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Tom asked if Mike Dean was reffing today?

He's a huge Tranny fan! Wonder if he's in the crowd

10:24 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Not sure you answered my 10:09 question

10:25 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Long range effort from Perreira well over

10:26 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Yes I answered your question at 10:18

10:26 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

United scored three in 6 minutes

United scored three in 9 at Bramall Lane....then OGS made a defensive change and we conceded....JUST CONTINUE ATTACKING

10:27 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I think this one is done and dusted. Tranny showing why they're in the drop zone in L1. Lots of commitment, but no cutting edge in attack. Probably lose a lot of close matches.

10:27 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Agreed, Dave. This 70s style pitch doesn't seem to be bothering United

10:28 AM

That Shaw was a nice run and pass , but Lindy failed to control the pass in scoring position

10:34 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Shaw finds acres of space and finds Lingard...he's back to his normal form with a whiff....what a difference two years make for him...he was scoring in the WC and starting in the SEMI FINAL

The idea of the first man in the box going to the front post is dead.... first.... most of the time there isn't a first but the only man in the box....second...the cross usually doesn't beat the first man....third... if there are more than one going in....he doesn't go to the front post

It is physics...the ball will be at the front post first

Cheers, boys - I try. Which is more than I can say for Tranmere who have looked completely outmatched today.

United fans celebrating that goal with a rousing round of "Tequila." Not sure why. Are they Pee Wee Herman fans?
