Another Day for our United to Shine
It's another big day of Restart football action, chaps. It all starts with my Leeds celebrating winning promotion and the title with their trip to Derby County. The pressure is off, so I hope that the boys can relax and enjoy themselves a bit.
Later on, the pressure is on as United take on Chelsea at Wembley for a chance to play Arsenal in the Cup Final. Come on, the Uniteds!

Good morning, Bob. Thanks for getting us started on this busy Sunday. You must still be on cloud nine
I have the match from Dean Court on the telly on the one from Pride Park on the computer
The announcer stole my pun. The team from Pride Park playing for pride
A guard of honor for Leeds at the team that eliminated them from the playoffs last season
Here's what I've been waiting for - the Derby players are giving us the proper treatment as champions. Phillipe Cocu is a man of honor.
Morning, David - how are you, mate?
Both managers with pre-match pleasantries
They're off from Dean Court
Morning Boys
I am here after a short hot walk with Kathy and Shadow
We are off at Dean Court
Doing well, thank you for asking. How about you after a fantastic past couple of days
Good morning, Dave
The Leeds squad for today:
Casilla, Dallas, White, Berardi, Douglas, Struijck, Alioski, Pablo, Shackleton, Poveda, Roberts.
Lots of changes there.
This has been a couple of great days for the Dahlgren boys....now it is the turn of the Nocito and Goldstein boys today!!
Casilla back in goal and a couple of other changes since Leeds are champs
Morning, Dave! Thanks for the texts!
Off at Pride Park, was there a guard of honor?
I just read your comment that they did
Did you enjoy that Leeds show on TS2. I really enjoyed...except for the Old Trafford match!! No need to mention that!
Agreed, Dave. We need to celebrate making the final
I would usually put the Leeds match on the telly but I was running late so I just left the Prem match on the telly and the Leeds match on the computer
Tyler had a chance to set his sights. Well over the mark this time.
I enjoyed listening to it while multitasking, except for the nararator scoring at Ot
Must feel great Bob that you can sit and enjoy this match and hope they win...but it matters not!!
Also the South Coast Derby , which is a must win for the Cherries
Another chance for Roberts... saved
Must feel great to hear.... "good start from the Champions"
Oh - Tyler has a another chance. Nice run and shot on the turn. Keeper had to parry it away.
Kelle Roos fumbles a shot from Tyler Roberts then its' cleared away
It does indeed. No pressure today, thankfully.
Wonder if Bob was doing a Freddie Mercury with the lyrics
Cally Wilson wins a corner off of Jack Stephens
Rams player down. Was he rammed?
It's Tom Lawrence, which will be a huge loss for the Rams
Tom Lawrence has a problem here after that clash. He's done for the season then.
I am not sure who I want to go down.
I've never minded Bournemouth... If they win this match... I think they will be safe!
A win here would tie them up with Watford with a very close GD. They would be at least one goal behind if they win this by one. I think Watford will lose their last two games... Bournemouth would be safe...if Villa don't win both
Jason Knight on for the injured Tom Lawrence
Liam Kelly nearly gave the Cherries the lead. A corner was headed away then a he shot just wide from the D. The next corner headed over
Just wide by the Cherries...then another chance for a header!
They have been really dangerous since half time of the Leicester match!
15 shots against City and were the better team!
SO happy that City ...PEP... lost yesterday!
Ali with a shot blocked, then the Ram s attempt a break, but Leeds win it back
There are three sets of games today...I have to find a time to get in the pool today!
I didn't get in yesterday
I agree with Dave. Would like to see the Cherries stay up and they should if they win this match
Agreed with Dave about the semi. Glad the Gunners won
Bournemouth almost in.. will VAR check? Apparently it is...nothing given
I had a nice chat with the Gooner last night after the match. He was cock a hoop!
Nothing in there
The last match ends around three your time. A perfect time to go in the pool during the heat of the day
A great past couple of days for you and Steve
Of course, the Cherries are very capable of going to Goodison and winning....Everton are naff
The Gunners will have a big say in the relegation battle
This a good chance for the boss to see what Poveda and Struijk can do; they've played fairly limited roles in the run-in.
Vestergaard tackled Cally Wilson for a Cherries corner. A free kick by the corner arc. Horribly taking and easily cleared
Oh - nice move but Pablo blasted over in the end.
Shot from Ali in the D lands in Row D
I can imagine...not a bad week beating Liverpool and Man City back to back
Although of course, I hope to be rooting against them in the Cup Final!!
Ramsdale did well to block at the feet of JWP then the Cherries break and Josh King tackled
79 United wore red
05 Arsenal wore red
I so hope they have to have a coin toss again in 20... Blue isn't allowed at Wembley on Aug 1st!!
I mentioned the back to back wins yesterday and the Gunners should be a top five team next season
Scotland's league starts the same day!
Oh - we had a man over but Tyler played the ball behind Shackleton. Dallas then curls one in on goal. Easily accepted but the keeper.
Long range effort from Stu Dallas deflected straight to Kelle Roos
Pablo tries a Beckham....saved
Agreed. Blue needs to be banished to the naughty room.
I knew about the SPL. Rangers will play one league match before the EL starts. Wonder how their league schedule will be affected due to the mini tournament
We're playing some lovely stuff here; good to see that this alternate squad can also play the Bielsa way.
The French League ( Ligue Un) , starts the same day as the SPL. Same scheduling problems for PSG as Rangers
Roberts.... blew that chance.
Modern day play by Derby!! All these defenders think they are Messi
Oh - big chance there as Shackleton robbed the defender. He could have played Alioski in but went with Tyler who blasted over.
Nothing against defenders but if they had all these dribbling skills... they would play up front!
Leeds up for this despite already being champions. Great to see
Rooney floats a free kick well out of play.
I agree about making the pass
Well, Bielsa has been smart to play several players who have something to prove to get into the regular team.
Drinkie poo time at DC....that reminds me...I have to go to the loo
Two minute timeout at dean Court
Play resumes at Dean Court
Two minute timeout at Pride Park
Saints struggle to clear a Cherries corner
Good start to this one for us; I'm reasonably pleased. But Tyler really needs to start finishing more of his chances to have a chance of playing regularly in the Premier League. Three goals really isn't good enough for a forward. Eight other players scored more than that this season.
Play resumes at Pride Park with Kiko kick
Ali has collapsed after a clash there. Play has stopped.
Sorry, lost track of the time, and then I had to run the video back to see the guard of honor.
Morning, Chaps!
That's my concern about Leeds next season. They will discover that most Prem teams are really clinical. They could due with a center forward or two, but not vs United
JWP with a free header heads straight to Ramsdale
Welcome Steve.... many many congratulations!
I'll let you know how I want the game on Aug 1 to go later on today!
Good morning, Steve. Congratulations on making the Cup Final
Me too. Hoping that United defeat a London club today and on August 1st
Cross from Josh king cleared a few yards from the Saints goal
Morning, Steve - welcome to the party!
Good luck today. But if it means that I have to watch the constant replay of Giggs not getting cut down and his chest mat over and over and over again, I will not be responsible for my actions.
WOW.... Pearson out at Watford!
HOW MANY BOSSES DID THEY HAVE THIS SEASON ALONE!
Just saw that Nigel Pearson was sacked. They're going to be on manager number four this season. Not his fault. He inherited a bad situation and they would have been down a long time ago, but for him
LOL! You wouldn't mind a bit of Alan Sunderland on a loop, though, right?
I know Steve...United do well against Arsenal in the semi... 83, 99 and 04
Not liking the Final results!!
Hornets in trouble due to the first two bosses, not Pearson
Don't Watford still have a lot to play for - why would they do that now?
I second that, Dave. Need United to do well today then on August 1st
Berardi is being stretchered off now; Luke Ayling will replace him.
Who is being stretchered off for Leeds?
Bob...bringing up such painful memories
I think I told you about this but when Sammy M rolled the ball past Jennings... I went sprinting around The Meadows.... came in the house, into the dining room, looked through the hatch to the TV in the kitchen........BLOODY SUNDERLAND!!
It's Berardi. Her's not a regular starter, but still sad to see
If it's the FA Cup, Aaron Ramsey's long range wallop is preferred viewing.
I'd love it if Watford fell apart enough to join poor old Norwich and more than likely Villa.
Oh - nearly a calamity at the back but Ayling came to the rescue with a shoulder over the bar. Wow!
I'm thinking the same Bob. An odd decision to sack him. Was there a nasty argument between him and the board?
He sent them out really early for the second half at West Ham on Friday....wonder if things were said then!
How many bosses have there been this season?
I REALLY hope they go down now!
That's probably the best ever Cup Final for the neutrals, though, just the way that it swung back and forth. Great stuff.
Maybe it was Pearson's decision...he wanted to keep his not being relegated record intact
I agree, Steve. Would love the Cherries to stay up instead of the Hornets and Villa
In the 1979 Final, not just Sunderland, but Gary Bailey misjudging the cross. Liam Brady was the difference between the two sides that match
The classic trivia question
Sunderland won it 79
Villa won it 81
Who won it in 80
Macari just missing blocking the cross coming in
Decent ball in from Dallas but no one there to meet it. Without Bamford, we don't really have a target man.
In the post match interview the players admitted that they deserved to be told off at halftime. I think things were said post match between Pearson and the board
I would like to see us work on corners this summer. We've won so many over the season but I can't remember a single goal coming from a corner.
Another classic
name three England captains to play for Scunthorpe United
Corner from JWP headed out by Thomas Jefferson Lerma then a volley from Nathan Redmond is straight to Ramsdale
Long range effort from Jason Knight deflected wide
It actually wasn't that great of Cup Final.... Arsenal were walking it until the 85th minute
It is called the 5 Minute Final
I wouldn't mind seeing us shop Kiko over the summer. I've been more than satisfied with Meslier in the run-in.
I would like ALL teams to work on corners during the summer!
Goal....Ings with another goal!
The first two that come to mind are Ray Clemence and Kevin Keegan. Is Ian Botham the other?
GOAL !! DANNY INGS GIVES THE SAINTS THE LEAD WITH A NICE FINISH FROM THE D OFF A NICE POSSESSION
You got it
please answer the other as well
King Kev is definitely one of them, right?
Yeah, funny about Bournemouth. They have Calum Wilson who I rated as a perfect foil for Kane in an England 4-4-2. And Josh King is useful too. Ings however has just been allowed to collect it on his left and then dribble around two and bang another nail into Bournemouth's coffin. I think they're done.
Agreed, Dave. That's how I remember the '79 Final.
The 1980 Cup winners were West Ham, right?
Brooking in 1980
I'm sad about the Cherries, too. I'd much prefer to see them stay up. I like Eddie Howe a lot.
Bob, how many years will Bielsa be at the helm? Does he have any relationship with his compatriot Poch?
Now it's Pablo down in a heap - Sibley gets the yellow.
Pablo Hernandez down off a foul from Martyn Waghorn, who is booked for that
David is correct and Bob is not
Sort of
We finally seem to have a corner-taker in Ceballos. Watching Ozil and Xhaka fail to clear the first man or take them short time after time was killing me
Glad he's up...players need to stop hitting the ground with there hands....that usually means they are really hurt
Sorry, it's Louie Sibley against his old mates. A penney for his thoughts on not being part of the promotion
Bielsa has a habit of moving on after three years, but I'm hoping he'll stay longer with us. I was nervous that he's leave this summer if we weren't promoted.
Both Pep and Potch cite him as a mentor. Not sure that they ever worked with him, though.
A pair of stoppage time minutes at Dean Court
Will they Cherries repeat what they did vs the Foxes
Yes! We've got it in the net, but Poveda is ruled out for offside.
Bloody hell... Leeds blew that!!
Great finish... but offside...he was the wrong pass
Paveda with a goal for Leeds disallowed for offside
Great finish... of course it is....he's wearing #7
Nine minutes of stoppage time to come - wow!
NINE added minutes... this is getting ridiculous!!
Naughty nine stoppage time minutes at Pride Park
HT at DC
NBC can't wait to talk about controversy with Watford
MEDIA is ridiculous
Do you think Eddie Howe deserves a better team? I've only seen his struggles with Bournemouth and can't tell whether I like him because he seems nice and is English. Southampton should be relegation contenders and Hassenhuttle is neither nice nor English and he's turned it around enough to attract Ings in.
Halftime will be half over at Dean Court by the time it's halftime at Pride Park
Tyler Roberts cuts in and his shot is off the side netting
Oh - great ball from Pablo to Tyler but he took the low percentage route.
Would like to see some changes in the second half. This match seems there for the taking.
There was talk of EH going to the Em
I don't know what I think about him
I would like to see Eddie have a bigger club. He was my tip for United when they sacked Mourinho.
I think Eddie Howe has had several offers from bigger clubs , but has turned them down. He does deserve a bigger club, but will only go if the Cherries sack him
Strijch strikes a shot for Leeds straight to Kelle Roos
Well, the Watford story is a talking point. What are they thinking? If Bournemouth were winning today, Watford would be right in it!
I know it is news but talk about the match but no.... let's sensationalize it!
Roon clears for a Leeds corner
Another wasted corner. We really need to find a corner specialist in the summer.
Agreed about the Hornets. Hayden Mullins will probably be caretaker for the last two matches and then a new manager next season.
I don't think they are bringing in a name for these last two games.
They're overreacting in the studio. Talk about the relegation battle from Dean Court
We were in another good position there, but Poveda wasted it.
Where's the Bielsa bucket?
They'll be lucky to survive then; only if the other sides help them out.
He was sitting on it earlier
Danny Ings for GBB?
He was sitting on it earlier but he's no doubt agitated by aspects of the performance. A couple of players will get a rocket in the dressing room.
Poor attempt of a header from Strijch off a nice cross from Pablo Hernandez
Finally half time at Pride Park
That's that, then. Time for the players to towel off and get some tactical tips.
It's 0-0 at the end of a marathon half from Pride Park
The second half is underway from Dean Court
Will the Cherries come back like they did aw week ago vs the Foxes?
JWP with a shot deflected for a saints corner
Corner from JWP headed well over by Vestergaard
Nice through ball by Sergio Rico, but McCarthy does well to palm away at the feet of Cally Wilson
Ryan Bertrand with a foul from behind on Harry Wilson
Test Match Update....England must win the 2nd of 3 Test Matches to be able to win the series
They did well in their first innings but Day 3 was a washout!
So, England need to bowl out the Windies and be able to enforce the follow-on
Windies are 188 for 3.... they only need 82 more runs to avoid the follow-on
All looks bleak for England
Junior Stanislaus fouled by Shane Long not too long a distance from the box
Free kick by Sergio Rico easily gathered by McCarthy
We are back at Pride Park
Thanks for the update. It's a real test for England
What does he mean off color... they have played well
He actually contradicted himself in the next sentence
We are off
The second half is underway from Pride Park
We're back on at Pride Park for the second half. I'm hoping for better from our boys.
OH! Ramsdale did well to turn away a long range effort from JWP
Rams win an early corner
Corner from Roon headed out for another
Next corner easily caught by Casilla
VAr checking for a possible Saints penalty for hand ball
VAR checking for a handball ... Penalty given
Ings to take
Oh - Tyler caught the Derby back four napping there and should have scored!
Another spurned opportunity.
PENALTY SAINTS AFTER VAR CHECK
Leeds should have taken the lead!
Penalty....SAVED
SAVED BY RAMSDALE. CHERRIES STILL IN IT
Is that going to spur an second half display by the Cherries like they did against the Foxes
Will this be a turning point in the match for the Cherries
Said with such conviction... FIRST EVER penalty missed...he was 4 for 4
NOT A HUGE SAMPLE SPACE!
LeTis had a great pen conversion rate
